Application builder default control value

I have a VI the reads a data file.  When I build an application and transfer the application to another computer the default directory is no longer valid.  Is there anyway to allow the user to establish a default directory for the file read on his computer or does he always have to go through multiple levels to find the file every time he restarts the application?

There is an initialization file (projectname.ini) that is created with your application (build for the application). You can define your default locations there. Note, you will need to configure the builder to use your file.

Its quite complex (in my opinion) to do so programically , but using a set of invoke nodes, you can get it done ('Make this value default'). Look at the attached for info (its a large link name, so you may have to copy and paste in your browser).

I've been simply using config.txt files of read and write to set values.

  • JAXB XML doesn't build default/fixed values?

    Hi people.
I need to build a status XML that must look like this:
    <rule name="TeamPayment" result="Auditing">

       <code>571</code>

I'm not setting the value of attribute 'result' in my code, because it has a fixed value and I think the marshaller must obey the Schema definition.

  • Setting a default date value for input controls

    Hi All,
I have created a webi report that shows  - among other things - the activity between 2 dates. I have created 2 input controls where the user can select the start and end dates from a calendar for this.
The displayed data is restricted by a date variable which 'unfiltered' contains 1 month of data.
'out of the box' I can set these input controls and all works fine, but each time I open the report the same values that I set last time are set in the input controls. I want to have these default to being between today and 7 days ago with the user then able to move away from  this action, rather than the 'window of interest' slowly slipping into the past.
I have looked at the forum posting Re: Default Input Control Values in WebI doc on Open which describes setting a default on the objects in the report filter pane, but this does not appear to be possible as these are 'grayed out' and i need both the input controls to run from a single object.
Does anyone have any ideas how this might be achieved?
    Thanks in advance
    John

    Hi,
Sorry, I've obviously not explained myself very well. Please let me try to elaborate...
The report I am writting is to function as a dashboard (yes, i know - Xcelcius/Dashboard Designer - don't ask!) but asking the user to enter a prompt for the date range is not an option here. My only options for this are effectively the input controls or the report filters. I want to be able to achieve the effect of entering =CurrentDate() in the 'default value box in the same way that I would if writting a Reporting Services report. However the WebI controls do not accept expressions for this.
    So...
I have one date object with a months worth of dates in it.
I have two input controls associated with this date object to allow the user to select a narrowed date range from this month of data.
I need one of these to default to 'today' and the other to default to '7 days ago' (I can do the calculations to get both dates, the bit I cannot get past is applying these dates as defaults)
can anyone help me with step 3 (in bold) above?

  • Default Input Control Values in WebI doc on Open

Is there a way to select default Input Control values for a WebI document on Open ?  I have a WebI document/report with no prompts in the query (as I don't want to restrict the data available on refresh) with input controls on Year and Month. The report is scheduled to refresh data each night. This is a standard public report that many users open as Read Only through an Opendoc URL hyperlink to the latest instance.  I would like to always set the input control values to the current year and month so that the most current data is displayed on the report by default when it is opened as this is what the majority of users will want to see on the report.
I know that prompts can be used for the data filter but we do not want the data refreshed for each user as it is scheduled to refresh nightly and we want them to be able to change the input controls to view other years/months without requiring a refresh as these past months data is not dynamic.
    Thanks, Faith

    I meant the following:
When you are in the report editing mode at the top right corner of WebI window you can find the "Show/Hide report filter toolbar" button. After activation this feature you'll be able to drag your variables over the pane that appears.
If you are using input controls you can create new input controls based on this variables instead of controls based on Date, Month and Year dimensions and set the "Today", "Current month" or "Current year" as theirs default values.

  • Indicator reverts to default after set control value

Sorry.   Tried to put a tab in my message, then pushed space twice and apparently posted this a couple times....
I've noticed that if I try to programatically set the value of an indicator (which is in the connector pane) using the Set Control Value method it reverts back to its default value once the VI is finished executing.  If it's not in the connector pane I don't have this problem.  If I use Set Control Value, then read from a local variable of the indicator to set the indicator I also get no problem.  Why is this?  I've attached two block diagram images below showing what I did.
I'm interested in this because I'm trying to write a subvi that retrieves and stores a bunch of global values from a config file.  The easiest way to do this seemed to me to use the OpenG vi that reads and writes the front panel controls to a config file (since some of my controls I wish to save are complicated).  It didn't seem to work unless I added the second step of using the local variable to update the indicator.

Is it possible to reinitialise a control value to default each time the program redo his cycle in a while loop ?
My problem is that I have a numeric control (0 or 1) and I want taht wahn the numeric is 1 labview makes the writing process of my data but after that the control must return to 0 to write only one time.
Is it possible ? I've tried some trials but none of them succeded

well i'm student and i have to write a program for school i don't know labview very well.
i post here the part of the program i have to do so you can see what i must do .
The button pass with datasocket so i can't use boolean and the problem is that the value must be set to 1 only for one cycle (one writing of the values). so when th people set it to 1 in internet explorer for exemple the value must be considered as a impulsion and as it is it always do a lot of cycle until the man set it manualy to 0 what i don't want.

  • Do I need to set something when using Dynamic VIs to pass control values to an executable VI

I am using VI server to pass control information from one VI to another.
In the development system this works fine.
How ever once I build the VI's into an executable the values from one of the VIs does not get passed.
I use the same method in three different applications, 2 of the applications work fine, but one does not.
The only thing I can think of is that there is something that needs to be set that I did (without realizing) in the first two but not in the third.
    All the Applications run fine.
The problem that occurs is in the values passed. The same value gets passed everytime this turns out to be what ever the default was prior to running application builder.

Are you using Call by Reference or Set Control Value method? The second
absolutely requires the Front Panel to be present to work properly. The
LabVIEW application builder wants to remove the Front Panel by default
if the VI hasn't been configured to show its front panel when called or
doesn't have at least one Control Property Node in its diagram.

  • Default cell values for column not properly saved in uir file in labwindows 2009 (9.1.0 427)?

I've run into a strange problem with the table control.  Basically, even though I set default cell values for a particular column as numeric, when I try to add items to the list it tries to add them as strings, and returns an error message that it is expecting *char instead of int.  Furthermore, when I open the uir file that contains the table in question in 2010, it appears as if the default cell values for that column are still set as strings, even though in 2009 when I open the uir file it shows as numbers.  I tried converting the uir to C code, and sure enough the C code indicated that the column still is a string type.
I've gone ahead and made a small project to show the issue.  If you open this project in labwindows 2009 and click on the table in the table_bug.uir, and edit default cell values for column 1, you will see that the cell settings have type as numeric and data type as int.  When you run the project, however, it will fail with an error message saying that it is looking for a *char.  When this same project is loaded into labwindows 2010, clicking on the table in table_bug.uir and edit default cell values (column 1) shows the type as string.  When I change this to numeric (and change numeric attribute to int), this runs fine in 2010.  I tried simply changing the uir in 2010, and then using it in 2009, but 2009 complains that the uir is from a newer version (understandable).  If there is any workaround that would let me continue to use 2009 for the time that would be great.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks,

I opened the UIR in 2009 (but I have 2009 SP1) and it still showed that the default value for the first column was a string. I didn't have any problems changing it to a numeric int, and then building and running the project without error.
Here are a few things you can try:
    1) Change the default value to a string. OK out of the dialog, re-enter the dialog, and change it back to Numeric int. Resave and see if the problem has gone away.
    2) You said you get a ".UIR is from a newer version" error when opening the 2010 UIR in 2009. Does the UIR still open if you click okay? Often times this will work just fine. Assuming you don't have any problems with this, make a minor change to the UIR in 2009, such as moving the table to the left, and then back to the right and then re-save. See if your program works now.

  • Place default checkbox value "in SESSION" on initial page load

    Oracle 11.2
    Apex 4.1
Desire outcome: Chart renders on inital page load using default value of checkbox in query.
I have a checkbox with a default (checked) value. It shows checked when the page renders for the first time but the value is not in the SESSION state. I use this value in a query for a chart. I do not want to use a Submit button so I have a dynamic action submitting the value for the checkbox and the chart refreshes as desired when I check and uncheck the box.
I tried "Fire on Page Load" in the DA Execution Options, as well, but that caused a loop where the page renders and immmediately renders, and immediately renders, etc.
Is there a declarative solution that submits the current, in this case default, values when the page is loaded? I only need and want the default values used the first time the page is accessed. This is the initial page of the application but I need the same behavior on all pages for the separate checkbox selections found there.
    May God Bless,

The Default Value colon-delimited string must contain the checkbox values, not the labels. In a static LOV the checkbox options are specified as <tt>label;value</tt> pairs. Thus in your checkbox LOV the labels are A/B, whilst the values are a/b. The values are case-sensitive.
The Default Value should therefore be:
    a:bwhereas you've specified:
A:BWith the checkbox item LOV Display Extra Values property set to Yes, APEX displays these extra values that are not included in the LOV definition as additional checkboxes. You can see this if you inspect the rendered checkbox elements in the HTML source:

Problem then is that the computation will be run if the user can [legitimately] deselect all of the checkboxes, either leaving you back where you started, or requiring the use of a further item to flag whether it is the really "the very first time" (which I find intellectually deeply unsatisfactory). This may be a sign that the control should really be a radio group that always has one option set, rather than a check box.

When ur doing the CHECK_CHANGED_DATA, u ll get the edited values inside this callback sub -routine only. so here u trap the values those are changed ( thats after editing).

  • How to default the value in Parameter ?

    Hi all,
How am I going to default the paramenter say I have the From Item >= '0' and To Item <= '99999999', I will like system to be defaulted back the value in the parameter everytime when the refresh is being pressed ?
Currently, I have set the default value in the parameter, it work fine for the very first time, but after I have put the search value in the refresh button, the system still showing the old value which I have keyed in earlier. I want system to be defaulted the value that I keyed in the parameter. How to do that ?

    Lim

    Hi Lim
    Are you using Discoverer Plus?
If so, there is a preference in pref.txt that controls whether the parameter values are saved with the workbook. It is called SaveLastUsedParamValue. This has two settings as follows:
0 - Use the default value as set by the report writer
1 - Save the value the user just entered and use that as the default the next time
    Best wishes

  • Recupérer les valeur d'un Control via un .obj appelé depuis une DLL- Getting a Control value from an .obj file called from a dll

    Bonjour,
    Merci
    Hi,
When using the LoadExternalModule function in CVI 2013, we can no longer use a .c file. Instead we have to use an .obj file.
My issue is that' impossible for me to get a control value from an .iur managed by the .obj witchi is called by a dll.
Otherwise it's impossible for me to get the control vale when calling the .obj from a dll.
    Any suggestions Amigos
    Thanks

For people who could be interested in, here the code I provided to the customer. This code demonstrates that calling a function defined in a .obj file from a DLL which is called itself by a program can be realized without throwing any error.
In order to use this example, you will have to :
    1) Open "main.cws"
    2) Define "Madll" as Active Project (right clic on the project and click on "Set Active Project")
    3) Build the DLL (CTRL+M)
    4) Define "Main" as Active Project
    5) Click on "Debug Project" in order to build the executable and run it
This example has been built with CVI 2013.

  • How to save controls value in labview

    hi
i want to know how to save the controls value in PC. means if i assign 5  digital value to a control it should remain there even i restarts my PC.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This can mean two things. Will the default value always be 5? You could right click the control, select Data Operations, then Make Current Values Default. This can only be done at edit time and the value is saved with the vi. If you know you will always need the same default value then do this. If you need the user to be able to change the default value without editing and saving the vi then see the post by smercurio_fc above.

    LabVIEW 2012

  • LabVIEW saves control values automatically - resulting in large files

    Hello,
I have a problem in LabVIEW. I'm using Vision Development Module and when I save the VI the file is very large (few MB). When I open it back in LabVIEW it turns out that all values on front panel controls have been saved (including images, what makes the file so big).
Somehow LabVIEW saves the VI with controls values by default, even if I don't want to do that.
    How to turn it off?

    Hi Daresh,
I think that simply reinitializing the controls (and indicators probably) might solve your problem.
Please take a look at this knowledge base, to find out how to do this programmatically and let me know, if this resolved your issue.
    Have a great day!
    Best regards,
    Jano
