Application error- can't open itune

Every time when I open itunes, it always shows as follows,
iTunes.exe-Application Error:
The exception Privileged instruction, (0xc0000096) occurred in the application at l0cation 0x013ec36a.
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
Please help.

I do not know the answer to this, but if you are willing to to do some troubleshooting:
Which version of windows are you using?
XP vista or 7, 64 bit or 32 bit.
Do you have Quicktime? If so does Quicktime launch?
Did you change anything on your computer just before this problem started?
Please look in the Event viewer for a helpful error message.
To open the event viewer:
Control Panel>>Administrative Tools>>Event Viewer
Or type Event Viewer into the search box.
Then select Windows Logs>>Application
Open the Event viewer immediately after iTunes crashes.
The error message should be at or near the top.
Double click on it to open more information and press copy.
Paste the result into your post.
You are looking for a message starting something like this:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: iTunes.exe
Application Version: 10.2.1.1
Application Timestamp: 4d756476
Fault Module Name: iTunes.dll

  • An unknown error-can't open iTunes

iTunes wont launch..."an unknown error has occurred" but when I log off my name on my mac and enter guest, iTunes comes up and runs no problem. I tried disk utility and still no good. Getting an iPhone for fathers day...but need itunes. Can anyone help?

The -50 in that context can indicate damage to your Apple Application Support. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are stashed.) So I'd first try a repair install of your Apple Application Support.
    Restart the PC.
If you've got XP: head into your Add or remove programs control panel, select Apple Application Support, click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If you've got Vista or 7: Head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support", and click "Repair".
Does the repair install go through okay? If so, does your iTunes start launching again?

  • Can't open itunes created by newer version error

hi can anyone help with this error - can't open itunes as it was created by a newer version

You must have more than one version installed, though only one may be showing in the Dock if you use a Mac. CC now covers three versions, CS6 (8.x), CC (9.x) and CC2014 (10.x).

Can't open iTunes, get error message (-50)?

The 50 when launching iTunes can indicate a damaged Apple Application Support. So first I'd try a Repair install of your Apple Application Support.
Restart the PC. In your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select Apple Application Support, click "Change" and then click "Repair".
Does the repair install go through okay? If so, does itunes launch without the (-50)?

I can not open itunes on my computer. It started when an upgrade appeared. Now I get a message that states This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. I tried to reinsall the application but it did not help. I also get a message iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes   Error 7 (Windows error 126)   Please Help me!

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

I can't open Itunes on my mac. error 130001. how to fix?

    Hi gingerjacker,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Did you restart your Mac and try again?  Sounds simple, but it's a good first step when troubleshooting.
If the issue persists you may need to delete iTunes from the Applications folder and download a fresh copy.  This does not affect your iTunes library, which is in a different location.

  • Can't open iTunes - Error 7

Hello, for some reason i can't open itunes since the last update. each time it says: "The program can't start because AVFoundationCF.dll is missing from your computer." and afterwards - "iTunes was not installed correctly. please reinstall itunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126)".
I have seen some older discussions regarding this issue, but none of them helped me.
    I tried installing Microsoft.NET frameworks 4
    I tried downloading AVFoundationCF.dll
I tried re-installing itunes and all apple software.
after some re-installing the error message changed to "The procedure entry point kFigFormatReaderLoaderParameter_ChapterCount could not be located in the dynamic library MediaToolbox.dll." and then the same error message.
it just never ends... please help! (i'm using windows 7)
Oh, and will installing an older version of itunes help? if so, where can i get it?

hey guys... was having the same issue. i did what this site said, went to the unistall part on windows 7, right clicked on Apple Application Support, clicked Repair, and my itunes is working again! Hope this helps

  • HT1443 I can't open iTunes. My PC gives a runtime error R6034. Please help !

I was updating my Quicktime i guess. There was a internet problem and i couldn't finish the update. After i got everytime a Runtime Error with the code R6034. I delete iTunes and Quicktime from my laptop and install them again but still i can't open iTunes on my laptop. Anyone has a idea to sowl this problem?
    THX

Quicktime is no longer a required component of iTunes. I would uninstall that and then fix the start-up issue with the following...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • I can´t open iTunes - error AVFoundationCF.dll

I can't open iTunes on my PC. What should I do? - error AVFoundationCF.dll

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair".
    Does iTunes launch properly now?
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post:
