Application scope inside error handler

Hi,
I am not using the onError method. I am instead using the "Site-wide Error Handler" setting in the CF administrator to direct errors to an error.cfm page. Everything is working well but it appears that I do not have access to the application scope in that error.cfm error handling page.
How can I get access to the application scope in that error handling page?
Thanks,
Andre

without seeing the code its nearly impossible to help.
But here are a few questions - you're using application.cfm
so are you checking if the application is already initialised on
the second page request rather than reinitialising it all over
again?
If you're getting an application scope timeout then it would
maybe suggest you're using a CFLOCK with a timeout that is too
short for the code execution in between the lock. If there error is
present 9 times out of 10 it won't go away just by clicking
refresh

    yes i have used dubugger.
    i have set break point to following line-
    return super.getDisplayMessage(ctx, ex);
    if (ex instanceof oracle.jbo.ValidationException) {
            return super.getDisplayMessage(ctx, ex);
    }when atttribute validation done like i have attribute of type number and i have done the validation "must be greater than 0" now when i have given negative value control go to above line.
    and i have added following code also in handler class
            @Override
               public void reportException(DCBindingContainer dCBindingContainer,
                                           Exception exception) {
    System.out.println(exception.getMessage());

  • Flex bug in global error handling

    My application's global error handler (uncaught error handler) works mostly, but I found a case where it doesn't work, but should.  Before I filed an official bug report I wanted to post the issue here.
    Here is the issue: in a module, ErrorEvents that are not listened for  and are dispatched by a Flex component are never caught in the application's uncaught error handler.
    I have a sample project that demonstrates this.  Here is the module in my test case:

  • How to catch/read mal-formed xml at Error Handler.

    I have added Error Handler at starting node of Message Flow in a Proxy Service and its(Proxy Service) listenning to a JMS queue.
    So when i am putting a mal-formed XML into the JMS queue, getting "Failure while unmarshalling message: Failed to parse XML text" error at ALSB server log.
    But i am not able to capture the mal-formed xml inside Error Handler node.
    Can any one help me how to capture input mal-formed xml in Message Folw.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Re: How to catch malformed xml using error handling mechanism in from a proxy? Had a solution for similar issue. It appears that in-case of malformed XML, $body will not be populated with faulty xml snippet. One way out of this solution is, design your service as Text service and create another service isXML as explained in my above reply.

  • Execution properties, Enable automatic error handling

    Hi
    I am writing real-time code for standalone execution on a cRIO-9074.
    If I untick the "Enable automatic error handling" option in VI properties (Execution), what is the consequence if I have an application with no error handling case structures to detect the occurrence of errors elsewhere and within subVI's ? Does the error just go undetected and the application continue regardless? If ticked, could a standalone application hang as there is no user-interface for the error to get reported automatically to? Can I configure the LabVIEW RTE to automatically handle errors in a certain way regardless of individual VI settings of the "Enable automatic error handling" option?
    I am a bit confused by the usefulness of "Enable automatic error handling" within RT/FPGA code, and where in the development process it is best enabled then disabled (if necessary).
    Thanks

    If I untick the "Enable automatic error handling" option in VI properties (Execution), what is the consequence if I have an application with no error handling case structures to detect the occurrence of errors elsewhere and within subVI's ? Does the error just go undetected and the application continue regardless?
    That's the case: the error is lost (i.e. it's not handled), and the application goes on.
    If ticked, could a standalone application hang as there is no user-interface for the error to get reported automatically to?
    The property "Enable automatic error handling" is not availabe in the run-time engine, so there's no automatic error handling in a built application,
    Can I configure the LabVIEW RTE to automatically handle errors in a certain way regardless of individual VI settings of the "Enable automatic error handling" option?
    No, for the reason stated above.
    I am a bit confused by the usefulness of "Enable automatic error handling" within RT/FPGA code, and where in the development process it is best enabled then disabled (if necessary).
    There's no "Enable automatic error handling" property in Labview RT either.

  • Facing error as Not in an application scope - start Orion with the -userThr

    hi all,
    iam facing this error when an jsp which is in Oracle portal(emebedded in iframe code) is updating a flag in database through a datasource configured on portal side.
    Naming Service=Not in an application scope - start Orion with the -userThreads switch if using user-created threads

    I encounter the same issues when using the TimerTask to access the JNDI tree. I have found success when I move my business logic to an EJB and call my EJB from my TimerTask. It's a bit more work, but not much. The EJB inherits it's identity based on it's configuration and has no trouble accessing the JNDI tree whenever it's called. Try this and see if your problem doesn't go away.
    Hope this helps,

  • Additional error handling within a production application using SQLERRM

    I have an application that is already in production. What I would like to do is to add additional error detail currently captured within the SQLERRM. I would like to capture detail such as: where the error occurred ie. what procedure in which package attempting to insert in which table etc. etc. Is this something that I can do easily without writing hundreds of exceptions into the existing code? Please respond if you know of a way to do this.
    Thanks in advance

    Probably not, unfortunately. To get that level of detail, you would need to go in to every procedure and add appropriate exception handlers, state variables (so you know what table you were inserting into). Adding error handling into any application after it is "done" is going to require some heavy lifting.

  • 11g: Custom error handling for all application raised exceptions?

    Hi,
    the only thing I can find in the documentation regarding an error handler is this: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31974/web_adv.htm#BABEHFHI (26.8)
    However, this kind of error handler seems to ignore exceptions thrown in backing beans and underlaying business logic inplemented in app modules.
    Is there a way to globaly handle those exceptions and show an error message if an exception is throw or is the only way a catch block in each backing bean method?
    Thanks

    So, If I understand correctly, the only option is to redirect to exception handler view and show eror informatin there.
    If, however, we want to present errors in popup messages, we have to handle exceptions in all backing bean's methods, e.g.:
    catch (Exception ex){
    handleError(ex);
    public void handleError(Exception ex){
    FacesContext fctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    FacesMessage message=
    new FacesMessage(
    FacesMessage.SEVERITY_ERROR,
    "Error",
    ex.getMessage());
    fctx.addMessage(null,message);
    Is that correct?
    Thanks

  • Web Dynpro application callable object error: Page Builder Not available

    Hi, SDN Fellow.
    I created a callable object of Web Dynpro application. The callable object is atatched to an Action, and Action --> Block, and Block --> Process.
    I initiate the process in GP Runtime, when it comes to the Action screen the Web Dynpro application atatched to, I got the following error:
    The page builder required to display this application UI inside the portal environment is not available.
    As aa comparison, another callable object that atatched to a Web Dynpro component (that implement GP interface) is working fine.
    Please advise.
    Thanks in advance,
    KC

    Hi KC,
    When you start your process from GP Runtime, does the actual action/callable object open in a new window?
    Have a look at this SAP Note:
    [Error when executing a GP task - Page builder|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes/sdn_oss_bc_gp/~form/handler%7b5f4150503d3030323030363832353030303030303031393732265f4556454e543d444953504c4159265f4e4e554d3d393831353137%7d]
    Although the error message you are getting is different, but if your callable object opens in a new window, then the problem (in most probability) is the same as mentioned in the SAP Note.
    Also, try testing the Web Dynpro callable object in standalone mode. For more information on this, see:

  • Error Handling in Jdeveloper?

    I set a servlet as the ErrorHandler for the Application by modifying the web.xml file with th following code:
    <error-page>
    <error_code>404</error_code>
    <location>/Srv_ErrorHandler</location>
    </error-page>
    and it worked.
    then I deleted all the code and every thing related to that in other servlets, and set a jsp file as my Error Handler, using isErrorPage="true" in <%@page %>
    and other proper changes, but it didn,t worked.
    every time the error arises the server goes after the former servlet as the ErrorHandler (the path of the servlet appear in the addree bar?).
    It seems that some changes have been applied on some variables in the application scope that won't be removed automatically?
    Thank you for you answer my friend.

    Are you making sure to point the pages to your error page?

  • Error handling in overridden methods in AbstractPageBean

    Hi,
    I'm writing a small app in JSF. One of the pages populates a bunch of text fields from an XML file whose name is passed into the app as an initialization parameter. The purpose of the page is to allow editing of the fields.
    It seemed that the prerender() method was the right place to initialize the fields in the form. I have an application-scoped bean trying to open the XML file. I don't want the app to barf on initialization if the file doesn't exist, because the application contains the logic to create the file. So it just sets the appropriate forward target ("file does not exist" page, or maybe XML parse error) and lets the pages that use those bean properties decide when and if they need to display the initialization error page.
    I would like to throw an exception from the prerender() method in my page, and have the error handling specified in web.xml. The problem, of course, is that I can't throw my own exception from prerender().
    So, have I got the wrong place to initialize my form, or do I have to throw a javax.faces.FacesException, or have I got this whole error-handling thing wrong?
    Any advice would be gratefully received.
    Many thanks.
    Regards,
    Mike
    public void prerender(){
            // Get ApplicationBean1 to forward the request if we fail to
            // initialize properly.
            ApplicationBean1 ab1 = getApplicationBean1();
            HttpServletRequest req = (HttpServletRequest) this.getFacesContext().
                    getExternalContext().
                    getRequest();
            HttpServletResponse res = (HttpServletResponse) this.getFacesContext().
                    getExternalContext().
                    getResponse();
            if(!ab1.isInitialized()){
                //The initialization code for ApplicationBean1() sets the
                //target when it detects an error and then forwards the
                //request to that target upon invocation of the forwardRequest
                //method
                ab1.forwardRequest(req,res);
            // These are the input components
            tfClonebase.setValue(ab1.getClonebase());
            tfDhcpdconf.setValue(ab1.getDhcpdconf());
            tfNamedrev.setValue(ab1.getNamedrev());
            tfNamedzone.setValue(ab1.getNamedzone());
            tfPxelinux.setValue(ab1.getPxelinux());
            tfXmldir.setValue(ab1.getXmlDir());
        }

    Well, I'm certainly no expert, but prerender() is called, as you might expect, just before rendering takes place (but only if the page will actually be rendered). This means it won't be called for a page that handled a postback but then navigated to a different page. Good place to handle initializations that happen before rendering.
    So my thinking was that I could initialize stuff before there's anything in the response, making it easier to bail out if something goes bad.
    But I really can't work out the right way to bail out: I can't throw my own exception because the prerender() is overridden from AbstractPageBean. So I suppose I could create a MikesBadInitException e and throw it inside a new javax.faces.FacesException(e). But I'd like to specify an error-page in my web.xml for MikesBadInitException, and don't want to handle all javax.faces.FacesExceptions, if you get my drift.

  • Error handler for event based messaging framework

    I've been very interested in using the event based messaging framework (described here http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Community-Nugget-2009-03-13-An-Event-based-messageing-framework/td-p...) for my next large application.
    My main concern is the fact that it seems like typos would be very difficult to debug since you need to ignore unknown commands to make this system work.
    To solve this problem I've been considering the idea of having a single message error handler VI which will store all valid commands and check all sent commands to see if they are valid.  Each VI would send out a register message on startup with their name and all messages they can send and receive.  The message error handler would store these and then check all future messages to be sure it is a valid message, throwing an error if it is not.
    My basic problem is this: for this to work the message error handler VI would have to be started before any messages are sent so that it can capture all the register events.  If this is a VI that will be continuously running the entire application how can I ensure it starts first since I cannot wait for it to complete? (I.e. the usual method of running an error out wire or using a sequence structure will not work since everything will then wait for it to complete which will not happen until the program is ready to shut down)
    I'm assuming the answer might be to use an asynchronous call but I'm not very familiar with this method.
    Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

    Could you just use the error handler as a subVI inside a case structure that is only called when you have new message to be checked? I'm not sure I understood the exact functionality you are looking for, so sorry if this does not apply.

  • 4.1 Error Handling Confusing

    Hi Everyone,
    I have a few pages running under 4.1 that are generating errors that look like this:
    Error     Error processing condition.
    ORA-01403: no data found
    Technical Info (only visible for developers)
    is_internal_error: true
    apex_error_code: APEX.CONDITION.UNHANDLED_ERROR

    ORA-06512: at "APEX_040100.WWV_FLOW_CONDITIONS", line 148
    It is very confusing to me as to what component on the page is triggering this error. Does anyone have any insight on how to decipher this?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Hi Patrick,
    I was going through your post http://www.inside-oracle-apex.com/apex-4-1-error-handling-improvements-part-1/ for error handling. I am able to handle many errors but how do I handle this error in function apex_error_handling_example. when such error occurs it does not even reach till this function defined at application level
    I have report using dynamic pl/sql returing query. If my parameters are invalid then query of report fails with error
    "failed to parse SQL query:
    ORA-02019: connection description for remote database not found"
    I tried to check if error reaches till apex_error_handling_example by inserting p_error.apex_error_code in some dummy table inside this function but whenever this error occurs no records created in dummy table
    If i use exception handling at query level of report then it logs error as "APEX.REGION.UNHANDLED_ERROR"
    Is there any way I can handle/capture this error at application level and display custom message to user ?
    I am using apex 4.1
    Pls help/advice.

  • Error handling via CatchAll and JTA transaction error.

    If you look at the error, it suggests that the action you are performing is invalid.That is you cannot update human task which has been already completed. Thats why you are getting that "JTA transaction not active error". Since your human task has already been completed, it is not able to update it again.

    May be you can try some other usecase ? Also could you let me know whether you are getting this error in logs only or in your composite instance as well. I mean whether the instance gets successfully terminated or completed ??
