Applying a Favicon

Hello again,
I am trying to apply a Favicon to my website using Dreamweaver. Since my site is based on a template, I applied to the .dwt file which updated all of the other template pages on saving the file. Looking on other forums in Dreamweaver help it looks like this has been a problem fro other people as well.
However, looking at the code everything looks OK so I am a bit stumped.
I have enclosed a zipped copy of my .dwt, but the Favicon link should be viewable from the source at www.stayatmyhouse.net.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
Regards
John

John, If I read the head of your document and VInay's link correctly, since you are using an XHTML 1.0 Transitional DOCTYPE, you need
<head profile="http://www.w3.org/2005/10/profile">
<link rel="icon"
      type="image/png"
      href="/somewhere/myicon.png" />
in your file (note the profile in the <head> tag and the [relative] link to the icon file).
As with many rendering differences, it may be that the files that show your favicon now may be incorrectly interpreting your file...it doesn't show in my IE8, either, but I see it in Chrome.

  • Since applying Feb 2013 Sharepoint 2010 CUs - Critical event log entries for Blob cache and missing images

    Hi,
Since applying the February 2013 SharePoint 2010 updates, we are getting lots of entries in our event logs along the following:
    Content Management     Publishing Cache
    5538     Critical
An error occurred in the blob cache.  The exception message was 'The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)’
In pretty much all of these cases the image/ file in question that is reported in the ULS logs as missing is not actually in the collaboration site, master page / html etc so the fix needs to go back to the site owner to make the correction to avoid
the 404 (if they make it!). This has only started happening, I believe since feb 2013 sp2010 cumulative updates updates
I didn’t see this mentioned as a change / in the Fix list of the February updates. i.e. it flags up a critical error in our event logs. So with a lot of sites and a lot of missing images your event log can quickly fill up.
Obviously you can suppress them in the monitoring -> web content management ->publishing cache = none & none which is not ideal.
So my question is... are others seeing this and was a change made by Microsoft to flag a 404 missing image / file up a critical error in event log when blob cache is enabled?
If i log this with MS they will just say, you need to fix it up the missing files in the site but would be nice to know this had changed prior! I also deleted and recreated the blob cache and this made no diffference
    thanks
    Brad

I'm facing the same error on our SharePoint 2013 farm. We are on Aug 2013 CU and if the Dec CU (which is supposed to be the latest) doesn't solve it then what else could be done.
Some users started getting the message "Server is busy now try again later" with a corelation id. I looked up ULS with that corelation id and found these two errors in addition to hundreds of "Micro Trace Tags (none)" and "forced
    due to logging gap":
"GetFileFromUrl: FileNotFoundException when attempting get file Url /favicon.ico The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)"
"Error in blob cache. System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)"
"Unable to cache URL /FAVICON.ICO.  File was not found"
Looks like this is a bug and MS hasn't fixed it in Dec CU..

Briansyddal - you might be able to manage your phone without a PC, but many of us can't, especially those of us with large iTunes libraries.  How do you propose I manage my 250GB of music using only a phone?  Maybe I could go out and buy 10 iPhones and spread my library out among them!
Catz537 - I have the same problem as you and I've spent hours on the web trying to find a solution to it.  It was a problem with iOS 7 and  8.1.1 doesn't fix it.  The the only advice from Apple is completely useless because it requires you, effectively, to delete and recreate your iTunes library and lose all your metadata, album art, notes etc and there's also no guarantee it will work.   I wish I could be more help (even more - I wish Apple could be more help) - I updated to 8.1.1 at 1400 today.  At 2200 I'm still "waiting for changes to be applied" for a measly 16GB of music transfer.

  • Possible to Restore Favicons After Deleting Icon Folder?

I was optimizing my Safari and it was suggested I check the size of my icon folder and if it was large to delete it. It was 27.3mb! I deleted it and now all my hundreds of bookmarks have the blue globe by them. I knew it would do this but it was my understanding that when I visited those sites again the favicon would reapear, is this not correct??
    Thanks.

    Hi Wesley,
I knew it would do this but it was my understanding that when I visited those sites again the favicon would reapear, is this not correct??
Yes you are correct, the icon should reappear, check in Icons folder"get info" window, see that the folders ownership & perm. are set to read and write.
Also in the General panel of the "get info" window make sure the lock is not applied in the tiny box.
if that doesn't help do you use a haxie that may affect the settings for the Icon folder?
    Eme'~[ )
p.s that is a large icon folder, mine is 2.1MB and i have a ton, a real lot of bookmarks.
It is a good idea to delete bookmarks you no longer use or no longer function now and again.

  • Wiki Server Favicon?

Does anyone know how to set a Favicon to a specific Wiki in Apple's Wiki Server?  I have about 5 Wiki's and I'd like to have a different Favicon for each one.  Where do I save the Favicon file?  If you are only limited to one Favicon for the entire server, where would I put the Favicon file?
    Thanks for your help!

    OK I've figured out...
Basically, what's written in Extending_Your_Wiki_Server.pdf applies to this particular subject.
Therefore, as written at the bottom of page 27 and after, you copy all the .xsl files from /usr/share/wikid/lib/apple_templates to your chosen wiki theme folder (located inside /Library/Application Support/Apple/WikiServer/Themes/), then edit default.xsl that you copied to specify the custom favicon.
(You may place your custom favicon file inside /Library/WebServer/Documents/ .)
    Some caveats:
You have to copy all the .xsl files, not only default.xsl.
You have to change the xsl:include paths in every .xsl files you copied so that they point to the new .xls files in the Themes folder.
The obove paths to the Themes folder porbably include Application Support, which you must write Application%20Support in order to make it work properly.
You have to restart the web service so that the modifications take effect.
And in order to have different favicons for each wiki site you have to make different wiki theme for each one and repeat the same thing.

  • Safari takes minutes to become responsive after launch (favicon/cache bug?)

This problem is driving my crazy. Seem to have had it forever across all my macs and just can't believe I'm alone.
If I restart my mac and launch Safari, it will launch in a few bounces BUT it remains un-usable for literally minutes. The homepage half loads then beach ball time, not of the interface buttons respond. This goes on for 5+ minutes. When it does let me interact it's slow but after a few minutes more it will go back to normal. If I look in my bookmarks menu I notice all the favicons have reverted to the general bookmark icon.
This happens every single time I restart my mac without fail. I'm forever force quitting, waiting and twiddling my thumbs for it to wake up.
Surely I can't be alone. This problem is much more noticable on my CD macbook than it is on my C2D iMac. The issue was the same with safari 3 as it is with v4.

The following usually works on both Tiger and Leopard:
(First, if yours is an Intel Mac, check that Safari is not running in Rosetta, which is enough to slow it to a crawl.)
Adding DNS codes to your Network Settings, should gives good results in terms of speed-up:
Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu. Click on TCP/IP and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' enter the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(An explanation of why that is both safe and a good idea can be read here: http://www.labnol.org/internet/tools/opendsn-what-is-opendns-why-required-2/2587 / )
Whilst in System Preferences/Network you should also turn off 'IPv6' in your preference pane, as otherwise you may not get the full speed benefit (the DNS resolver will default to making SRV queries). If you want to know what IPv6 is:
This is Apple's guidance on iPv6:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8708.html
Click on Apply Now and close the window.
    Restart Safari, and repair permissions.
If that didn't do it, then try this as well:
Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:
    form values
    download.plist
Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete
    com.apple.Safari.plist
    Repair permissions (in Disk Utility).
Start up Safari again, and things should have improved.
Less likely, but possible, is that the slowness is caused by a Trojan such as the one called 'DNSChanger' or 'OSZ.RSPlug', which can alter the DNS settings of your network connection. This particular Trojan can be inadvertently installed if you have come across certain Quicktime movies where got a window stating that you have to download and install a particular codec in order to see the video.
If you have agreed to that installation, your system can be infected and your DNS settings altered, which results in your system using the wrong DNS servers, which can slow web surfing to a crawl.
This can be fixed by downloading and running a freeware utility called DNSChanger Removal Tool which you can download from here:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/33696
Once you have run that utility you have to re-boot your Mac, then reset Safari, and re-enter your DNS settings in System Preferences/Network.

  • Text Caption options not applied

    Hi,
I'm trying to add a text caption with a transparent style.
however when I try to modify font, font size, or color no change is
being applied. If I switch to the Adobe Blue caption style I can
modify color, but not font size. Any idea why this is
    happening?

    Hi there
I happened across a weird issue just last night that was resolved by choosing a different ActionScript version. I'm wondering if you can try this to see if there is a change in behavior.
Click Edit > Preferences > Project > Publish Settings and whatever it's set to AS2 or AS3, try the other option and see if it changes your outcome.
    Cheers... Rick

In the template I group the data based on CLASSIFICATION and then sort on the same column CLASSIFICATION. I have a page-break applied for every group.
When I generate the PDF, I am not getting the page-breaks for every group. Instead some of them are displayed in the same page.
But when I remove the sorting that I had in the template on the column CLASSIFICATION, I am getting the output in the desired way but not in a sorted order.

    Hi All,
I am using MS-WORD 2007 and BI Publisher desktop 10.1.3.3.3.
When I use split-by-page-break, splitting is performed for every line .. but not for group of lines.
Can anybody throw some light on this?
    FYI...
    I am using this code:
    ?if: position() mod 6= 0?
    ?split-by-page-break:?
    ?end if?
    (Of course with in tags)
    in G_LINES loop.
Can anybody help me out :-(

  • Takes up to 5 min "Applying User Settings" with events ID 6005 6006 after a reboot - Win Server 2008 R2 Standard 64bit

    Hi,
Has anybody seen the issue below showing in the logs? The time for the logs messages switch from the real time (17:57) to some random time (10:55). There seem to be a disconnect with the time. I noticed right when the status message while logging in switches
to "apply user settings", the time get screwed up on the gpsvc.log file and switches to the random time (10:55) and keeps reporting that random time till "apply user settings" process completes and switches back to regular real time (17:57).
I made sure the server is synced up with w32tm /resync command. Tried different DNS settings. Tried dis joining and rejoining to the domain. tried to block inheritance on GPMC to that OU. Created new domain user. Deleted local profiles. All with no luck and
same behavior which is taking up to 5 min "applying user setting" only after a reboot. If I log in and out without reboot, it would log in just fine within seconds.
Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated!
    Thanks,

The numbers in parenthesis are PID.TID of gpsvc.exe. So we see a thread
change, and this usually indicates that a different logon process has
begun. Could you try to map this log entries to events in the group
    policy event log?
But to be honest: No, I've never seen such a behavior in gpsvc.log :(
I'm almost sure that a service is responsible, but how to identify it -
I don't know. There's no auditing for system time changes, AFAIK.

Error :  While applying the Patch 4440000
FAILED: file igwprop.odf on worker  1 for product igw username IGW.
When i check the worker log file i got this error
The sequence IGW_AWARDS_S in the database is defined as:
    MINVALUE = 1 MAXVALUE = 2147483647 INCREMENT BY = 1

    which should be defined as:
    MINVALUE = 10000 MAXVALUE = 2147483647 INCREMENT BY = 1
    CYCLE = NO ORDER = NO CACHE = 1000
(Note: The cache value for sequence IGW_AWARDS_S is 20 in the ODF file. The value 1000 is being used instead because this provides better performance when selecting from the sequence.)
    Alter the sequence with :
Start time for statement below is: Sun Oct 06 2013 22:16:28

Check the current value of IGW_AWARDS_S sequence and make sure the MINVALUE in the patch (i.e. 10000) is not greater than the current one.

  • Applying A/P Credit memo

    2007A PL49
Have a GRPO in system.  Have not created an A/P invoice yet for the material.  Also have a vendor credit that has not been created in SAP either.
How, if I can, apply the credit memo to the A/P invoice?  Do i create a service A/P invoice so as to not disturb inventory (but leaves GRPO open)?  Or create item A/P invoice (as normal)  and create service A/P credit memo?
    Thanks,

discovered a solution to my own question and i will share regardless, with the SDN community:
    1.     Create the A/P invoice as normal (item a/p invoice tied to GRPO)
    2.     Create the A/P credit memo as a service memo (service memos do not disturb inventory qtys.)
    3.     Reconcile the A/P invoice under business partners > int. recon
    a.     Enter the vendor code, choose manual
    b.     Checkmark the Credit memo and the invoice to be paid
    c.     Enter the amount of the invoice in the u201Camount to reconcileu201D field for credit memo (if CM has more cash than invoice, vice versa)
    4.     Click Reconcile

    Hussein,
One thing which I noticed now is in the apps Tier the
    tnsnames.ora under $TNS_ADMIN
    shows entry like this:
    PROD=
            (DESCRIPTION=
                    (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=<appsServerName>)(PORT=1521))
                    (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=<dbServer>)(PORT=1521))
                (CONNECT_DATA=
                    (SID=PROD)
)Actually *(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=<appsIPaddress>)(PORT=1521))* this line in the tnsnames.ora is not correct. In fact the appsServerName should be replaced with dbServerName
I deleted the tnsnames.ora and reran autoconfig but it is again recreating the same entry.
Any clue how this can be fixed?
    Thanks

  • My iphone 3GS no longer syncs with iTunes. The phone is recognised, backs up but then I get an error message: "Waiting for changes to be applied". BUT unlike other people, it doesn't stay stuck on it, instead the process closes down immediately

    Hi all,
Apologies: I've just joined the community and didn't quite figure how to write a msg! Hope it works...
    Anyway,
I read many posts on this annoying error message (Waiting for changes to be applied) in the last 2/3 days, but they all refer to the sync staying stuck on it.
    Mine doesn't.
I read the message, then it quickly shuts down the sync and the iTunes progress bar only shows the apple...
As suggested by many, I removed voice msgs, turned off/on, tried to sync in individual stages (calendar only...) but nothing works.
I am up to date on iTunes (11.1.1.11) and have IOS 6.1.3 on my phone, to sync on a Win8 pc (all worked fine until recently).
I have had this phone for several years and it has never done this.
It worked absolutely fine, until I loaded the latest version of iTunes it seems...
    Any suggestions?
    Many thanks

ALSO, on the iPod under Settings>General>iTunes Sync, you may need to back out of the "iTunes Wi-fi Sync," and reopen it to get it to update.
    (I use iTunes 11.1.5.5)

  • How to find out the list of patches applied without using inventory?

    Hi,
I have been asked this question once.
How will you find out the list of patches applied to Oracle Database Home without using commands like opatch lsinventory -detal etc...
I think registry$history is a view from where we can find out the list of patches applied.
But I think it will not include all the bug fixes, stand alone or one-off patches. It will mainly list out the CPU patches applied(correct me if I am wrong).
    Thanks,
    Rushi
