Applying Menu Characteristics Over Several Different Menus?

Hi Folks
I have several different menus which similar chractaristics - like highlight colors & button positions.
All share the same overlay asset but the backgrounds are different.
What I should have done is built the first one then duplicated that and apply the different backgrounds - but I didn't so my question is:
Can I apply these button positions and highlight colors after the fact

I think it depends on which version of SP you are using as to whether copy and paste of buttons works. Doesn't in SP2. Works in 3 (so I guess works in 4 haven't loaded that yet)
Highlight colours is easier. Select your first menu ansd set up it's highlight colours as you want. Then in the Inspector Colour Settings tab Click on Save As Default at bottom. Then on next menu just select the Colour Settings tab and click Restore Defaults and your colours are applied to the new one.

I have a general dialog A and B. I have an auxiliar dialog C and I want it to be displayed in both of them, but then... at C constructor:

Yes, I mean displayed in a different window. Code in A or B would be like that:
            DialogC d=new DialogC(this,true);
            d.show();            I don't know if you understand my problem. When I call this code from A, it calls constructor DialogC(DialogA,boolean), but when it's called from B it calls DialogC(DialogB,boolean).

Applying One effect to several clips (not tracks!)

i have one track with about 40 clips in it of different cut up audio. i want to apply one effect to several different clips at once. how do i do that?
i know how to apply the one effect to one clip, but if i try and shift click four different clips, and then go to add an effect to it, the effects are grayed out
and i really don't want to go into each clip, add an effect, adjust it and save it for every clip.
is there an easier way?

There are a few ways to do this. The simple way is to apply the filter to one clip. Open it into the viewer and change the parameters as you like. Select all the other clips and drag the filter name from the viewer onto the other clips. They all have the same setting.

How to apply different keyboard shortcuts to an actions with the same name but in different menus within one application?

Hopefully someone can help. I have the application "djay" and in two different menus there is the action "Eject". I was wondering if it's possible to apply different keyboard shortcuts to those actions with the same name? I can't see how to do it as it seems you can only write the action but as there are two it doesn't seem to work for me.
For example:
djay>Table-1>Eject - ⌘⇧1
djay>Table-2>Eject - ⌘⇧0

A NodeList doesn't only contain 1 element. In your example it contains ALL <Data> elements inside the document.

Vertical menu display several under menus

I have a vertical menu where the main menus have several under menus.
How do I display/show all the under menus options when pressing the main menu?
As of now, users may not see the additional under menus (there’s an arrow when there’s an under menu, but not all users may notice).

Unfortunately this is not possible to get all the submenus (which further include submenus) to get displayed from the top Menu.
User needs to hover the mouse to the submenu to get further options displayed. As April_Syntelligent suggested, you can add your own custom graphic to replace the black arrow to bring more attention to the Menu/Sub-Menu.

To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
Then hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
and select the Library that you moved. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
Your first option didn't work because you imported one Library to another. Every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo, you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.
Your second option didn't work because you simply referenced her library on the old machine.

ITunes 12 is making 1 album become several different albums with the same tracks. How do I combine them again?

I had an issue in past versions of iTunes, where I would rip a CD and, for some reason, iTunes would turn it into several different CDs instead of just one, even though everything about the album was the same (as in same artist, same album name, same year, etc). It seems as though that issue has returned and one album with 6 tracks is now 3 albums (1 album has 1 song, another has 2 and the third has 3). Yet, it's all the same album. I re-entered the data for the album name and artist, but it doesn't work like the previous versions. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening (other then bugs) or how to fix it?

Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group of identical tracks to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin. This can happen, for example, if you start iTunes with a disconnected external drive, then connect it, reimport from your media folder, then restart iTunes.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping, whether you do so by hand or using my script, in case something goes wrong.

I have one application, for example safari, open and running with multiple windows (with or without tabs) spread over several desktops.
How can I switch between the windows only via keyboard? CMD+> and CMD+< let me only swicht between windows open on the one desktop I am currently looking at.

many thanks for your efforts and your time (preparing and posting the screenshot, answering to this question,...).
Unfortunately, moving the focus to the next window only works with windows on the same desktop.
btw, using a german keyboard layout and german language settings the shortcut is "cmd+<".
I can switch with this shortcut between different windows of my Safari which reside on the same desktop, but I cannot swith between different safari windows distributed over several desktops.

Can I print several different pics of the same size on one shee of papert?

I should like to print a group of several different pics of the same size & resolution on one sheet of (A4) paper eg 6 family photos. There doesn't seem to be a template for this - just two choices of format (both with one large and a few smaller format) and there is no 'Printer' pop up menu.
I tried to laboriously copy pics to a two column works word processing document (after resizing in a different one so that they would fit in the columns). This is time consuming and when down sizing the pics lose resolution!
Maybe I can download templates somewhere on the apple site as suggested by apple care but I couldn't find out where. Maybe there is a possibility of doing some contact prints?

Select the 6 photos you want printed in the iPhoto Library or Album window.
Choose File->Print.
In the Print dialog box, Select the paper size in the Paper popup menu.
In the Style popup menu, select N-Up.
In the Photos per page popup select 6.
The preview should show what you'll get. I hope its what you wanted.

How can i print a one page spread sheet without having it spread over several sheets of paper none of which is complete?

I have an iMac less than 1 year old with lion o/s and numbers. i have been spoiled in the printing of spread sheets on PC's. I find it impossible to print only 1 page when printing a single page spread sheet. The result is my spread sheet spread over several sheets of paper with no usable spread sheet printed. Can anyone help this 86 year old man who has been to the Apple Store twice to learn this but I still have trouble. Thanks in advance for your help. jim

Take heart. We can help.
First turn on page view so you can see how the content of your sheet fits on the page(s). A Numbers document contains sheets (listed on the left) which in turn contain tables, charts, text, and graphics. Select the sheet you want to print on the left, then enable page view by selecting the menu item:
"View > Show Print View":
Now you should see your content and how it fits on one, or more, pages. If thie content is too big for one page use the controls and the bottom left of the window to expose the sheet controls:

2 different menus, using widgets and drop down

Hi,
I am looking to create 2 different menus for my website. the first will sit in top right hand corner and simply be Home | Contact | Brochures. The second menu is more complicated, with 6 different headings, all of which have a drop down menu. I understand using the manual option on the wdigets to creat both menus. How do I then add the drop down menus though? I can't see a way to do this.

As you have mentioned you can create manual menu for both types, with manual menu you can add the drop down options with different menu items.
With widget such as accordion , the drop down would be the container area.
Regarding manual menu, here is a good example which you can use and then link menu items to specific pages :

How to apply menu

I am trying to attach a menu to my completed video so when I burn to a DVD it begins with the menu, not playing until you click Play. Following the instructions I have placed an image on the menu and added a title but when I click "Apply" nothing happens. Any clue as to what I might be doing wrong?

By following instructions I meant the online Adobe manual. Yes, I went to the Disc Menu Tab, selected a menu template and clicked apply. I can get an image into the box in the middle but I canot for the life of me change the BACKGROUND, which is what I want to do. "Menu background" on the disc menus does not, it seems to me, apply to the background at all. Adobe really need to tighten up the instructions I feel; you follow them exactly and it doesn't work. It is assuming you know something that I clearly don't! Hopefully when I get your book, Steve, it will explain all.
So, to summarize what I am trying to do:
Add a menu to the beginning of my video; only needs a play button as there are no scenes required (only eight minutes long). I have a disc menu applied; it has a title, which I can change, and a box into which I can get an image, but I want to change the background, and I can't; I also need to be able to get it to "apply" or whatever, that is, be added to the front of the video. The apply button doesn't seem to work at this stage. Thanks for your help, I'm sure I'm just being dumb!

Recording over several slides

Hello Everyone!
I am completely new to Captivate 2 and I am having difficulty
with a few things.
1. I thought when I recorded a section that section would be
one slide. That section ends up being many slides, is there any way
to record a large sections that is one slide? Is this a capability
in Captivate 3?
2. Is there any way to record without having those bubbles
pop-up that say what to click? Can I edit the text that is
displayed in the pop-up bubble?
3. When I record the audio for a section and select to have
it go over several slides, how do you specify which slides for the
audio to go across? It ends up going across all slides that are
left in my project.

If you mean you want multiple actions to appear
on a single slide - let's say, the act of opening a file opening
the File menu, navigating to the file with Windows Explorer,
selecting it, then opening it ... this would constitute at least
3-4 background changes, and each would be a separate slide. But I'm
confused, Amanda, because your Topic Subject indicates you have an
audio question, and this doesn't seem to fit that description ...

slide, you can use *full-motion* to capture the entire process
(press F9 to start and F10 to stop recording). I recommend against
this, because it is counter to the designed purpose of use for

what you define as a *section*?
2) Yes, you can eliminate the automatic text-captions by
changing the options selected for recording. They are inserted as a
*default* addition when you are recording a *Demonstration*. The
text can be edited by going into the application files to make
changes, but I wonder if this might be *running before you can
walk*, as it can be dangerous changing program files, and is
definitely for advanced users ...
3) You can edit the *Timing* of audio by going to the Audio
menu and selecting EDIT TIMING. I would eliminate this concern by
adding audio to your project as a step in the editing process, as
opposed to using the *Narration* option during Recording. Uncheck
the *Narrative* election for Recording, then during Editing, go to
the first slide requiring audio, and insert the audio there, then
move to the next slide, add audio, and so on.
Hope this helps, Amanda. Your question(s) are multiple, and
varied in subject matter, so I've just given you over-views and
hope that will help you get started. A last though ... watch the
tutorial movies included on the Main UI (user interface). There
should be some help there, also.

If you pre-order with a two-year contract, you would need to add a credit card to your order as you will be charged for the device once it ships out.
