I tried doing a search, but it's so hard to tell if they might be in AS2, or AS3, and if they would apply to newer versions of Adobe Flash (I have CS5)

4 State Buttons - Disabled and Visited State

Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if CP will be offering 4 state buttons as an option in the future. Essentially adding a _disabled or _visited (both would be great) option to image buttons. 3 state buttons are great, but im finding more and more clients asking for 'greyed out' buttons when clicked. Some want disabled and others visited (so they can re-access the button).
I know Storyline has the feature to add a disabled and visited states. And I heard Lectora is adding this feature.
Basically The way I see it is that i can choose an image button and you get an option to select a disabled or visited button (or neither if you want 3 state). Then CP automatically pulls in the _up, _over, _down & _disabled or _visited images.
So back to my question, is this on the horizon?
Or if anyone has a better idea then i suggested, then i would be interested in knowing.
*I am aware you can do this with Advanced actions, but this way would be automated. (less work)

Yes wearable technology is wonderful. The best enhancement I've heard about in that area (for e-learning) is the 'wearable LMS'. It's a Wi-Fi enabled device that can detect and capture output from a Captivate module (as long as it's within range of a 802.11ac wi-fi transmitter/receiver).
I'll probably get into trouble for leaking this information but...also on the LMS front, Adobe has finally decided to take on the LMS vendors and introduce an incredible enhancement that looks like making any conventional LMS totally redundant.
If you've been wondering why Captivate 8 removed so many output options, it's actually been done to make room for the new Standalone LMS enhancement due out for Captivate 9's release next year (possibly Cp 9.5 if the development encounters issues with the implementation). Once that incredible breakthrough arrives you won't need to worry about SCORM, TinCan, Acrobat.com or any other reporting format. The Captivate output module ITSELF becomes the LMS.
It's all achieved with the new Cloud-based synchronization technology that Adobe has been keeping under wraps. Not only will the new Standalone LMS output capture all of the user interactions for your course. it will also aggregate them from other users around the world (as long as the user is online) and spit out nicely formatted reports to your nearest printer. The formatting is still a bit rough at the moment, and you do need really good bandwidth to pull it off, but the barriers to entry are coming down all the time.
It's certainly an exciting time to be an e-learning developer!

Is there a way in 4.0 to get back button that hides navigation and bookmark bars?

I used to have Firefox version 3.6.something, and in it there was an elongated bubble at the very top right of the window which when pressed would hide the navigation and bookmark toolbars. (This button also exists at the top right corner of Adobe Reader, for instance.) It seems to be missing in version 4.0.
Is there a way to get it back (similar to how it's possible to get back the old status bar)?

Thank you, I know shortcuts are always an option but I was hoping for a more... automatic? solution. I've resorted to forcing links to new tabs that are "to other sites." It has solved my immediate problem, but still is a bit screwy.

Flash button play over sound in both over and down states?

I have created a button and set a sound on it for the over
state. The sound plays correctly when the button enters the over
state, but it plays again when the button enters the down state.
Here's what I did as a test:
In an empty Flash9/ActionScript3 project:
1. Create a new button symbol
2. Insert key frames for up/down/over/hit
3. Draw a rect on each of those keyframes (just for testing
purposes so you can see it)
4. Go to over state and set the Sound property to a sound in
the libray. Set effect:none, sync:event/repeat/1
5. Verify that the down state still says sound:none
Now put that symbol in the scene and try it out. For me the
over sound will play both when you mouse over the button and when
you click on it. Does this make any sense?

Active and inactive states for a button

Is there a way to assign a button action only when the playbacket is on:
i.e. lable "play3"on timeline instead of placing a hotspot over each button with code?
Basically an active and inactive state.
button1 exists on entire 30 seconds then only active when playbacket hits and stops on "play1", "play2", "play3" etc..

Yes, you can do this with a little bit of code. Take a look at the "state management" section in this blog post, which will describe how to set variables, get variables, and use an if statement to code some logic in.

CIN Reports and Shipping State Issue

Hello everyone,
Can anyone help me out on the below mentioned points:
1. Standard CIN Reports. ( AR CST/VAT, AP CST/VAT, AP Service Tax Reports )
2. We have around 22 plants. We are procuring materials from a Vendor (State: Karnataka) to a plant located in state Andhra Pradesh. But if the Vendor plans to ship goods from another state,
say, Tamil Nadu. How will this impact?
What is the procedure i need to follow? The PO will be created on Vendor(Karnataka) and what about MIGO and MIRO. My problem is with the tax codes that i need to use because it is being shipped from another state Tamil Nadu.
How to address this issue.
In short, Ship from state is different from the procurement vendor state, how will this be handled ?
Any help is highly appreciated.

For question 1 > The report is RFUMSV00 . Refer master note for VAT 818732.
For question 2 > You have to have partner function where the goods supplier would be different. As such the purchase is from a different state in which case I believe CST will be relevant which in case of VAT based CST will have to be inventorised.

Having issues clicking buttons on the apple and adobe webpage

Hi,
Recently Safari (last version, mountain lion, all the updates installed) started to act in a really weird way. I have issues clicking buttons on the apple and adobe webpage, The buttons you can see on the image attacched.
The weirdest thing is that if I change the user agent in the Develop menu with IE 9, everything works fine. I tried to switch on and off Java and I did install even the java version from the oracle website. Still got the same problem. Any help? Thanks!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

There used to be a button in the upper right-hand corner that collapsed the navigation and bookmark bars. Where is it?

I'm using FF 5.0.1 on a Mac (OS is Snow Leopard). My older version of Firefox (not sure which) had a button in the upper RH corner that allowed you to quickly collapse the navigation and bookmark bars and then click again to bring them back - so much simpler than going through the "view" menu when it was helpful to have just that much more space to view a page. That button isn't in version 5.0.1 - is there a way to get it back (e.g., an add-on)?

Newby - navigation and buttons! PLEEEAAASE HELP

Ok so it seems like it would be really simple but as I have absolutely no experience i'm severely struggling here. All i want to do is make a text button show another symbol? Basically, i have 16 icons which i want to eventually be buttons aswell, and i want to show them in two different orders. so i have my two buttons for the different orders, and i have my icons in the orders as two different layers,and ive tried using the code snippets to show the icons but i keep getting an error message and it doesnt work, instead my buttons disappear. i've tried watching tutorials and reading different threads but i cant find what im looking for. i just want to be able to click a button and the order of my icons changes. if anyone can help me i would reeeeallly appreciate it, it's for a uni project! thankyou!!

I just want to reiterate that we are very committed to working on
this issue, and that our goal is to find out the root of the problem. But
first I'd like to narrow down the avenues by process of elimination.
Open Cursor is something that is commonly used in today's RDBMS. I
know that you must test your query in ISQL using some kind of execute
immediate, but Sybase should be able to handle an open cursor. I was
wondering if your Sybase expert commented on the fact that the server is
not responding to commonly used command like 'open cursor'. According to
our developer, we are merely following the API from Sybase, and open cursor
is not something that particularly slows down a query for several minutes
(except maybe the very first time). The logs show that Forte is waiting for
a status from the DB server. Actually, using prepared statements and open
cursor ends up being more efficient in the long run.
Some questions:
1) Have you tried to do a prepared statement with open cursor in your ISQL
session? If so, did it have the same slowness?
2) How big is the table you are querying? How many rows are there? How many
are returned?
3) When there is a hang in Forte, is there disk-spinning or CPU usage in
the database server side? On the Forte side? Absolutely no activity at all?
We actually have a Sybase set-up here, and if you wish, we could test out
your database and Forte PEX here. Since your queries seems to be running
off of only one table, this might be the best option, as we could look at
everything here, in house. To do this:
a) BCP out the data into a flat file. (character format to make it portable)
b) we need a script to create the table and indexes.
c) the Forte PEX file of the app to test this out.
d) the SQL staement that you issue in ISQL for comparison.
If the situation warrants, we can give a concrete example of
possible errors/bugs to a developer. Dial-in is still an option, but to be
able to look at the TOOL code, database setup, etc. without the limitations
of dial-up may be faster and more efficient. Please let me know if you can
provide this, as well as the answers to the above questions, or if you have
any questions.

We did that trick already.
When it is hanging, I can see what is doing.
It is doing OPEN CURSOR. But not clear the exact statement of the cursor
it is trying to open.
When we run the query directly to Sybase, not using Forte, it is clearly
not opening any cursor.
And running it directly to Sybase many times, the response is always
consistently fast.
It is just when the query runs from Forte to Sybase, it opens a cursor.
But again, in the Forte code, Alex is not using any cursor.
In trying to capture the query,we even tried to audit any statementcoming
to Sybase. Same thing, just open cursor. No cursor declaration anywhere.==============================================

Navigation and Parameters problem

Hey all,
I'm very new to JSF and we are attempting a very basic test app to try and get our heads round things. The app is basically a list of people, with a link to edit them, and a page which lets you edit the person and a button to save the person, after which, you will go back to the list of people.
I have a personlist.jsp page which obtains a (fixed) list of people from the PeopleDAO, using a h:dataTable to iterate and display each person. Each row has an edit link of the form "......editperson.jsp?PersonID=<number>" where number is the person ID for that person.
In the edit person page, I have a PersonBean which is used to display the person details. The person bean is specified in faces-config.xml as a managed bean, and I hook the PersonID property of the PersonBean up using a managed property linked to the PersonID param.

I have the navigation set up to go back to the personlist.jsp page once you click the save button :

On editperson.jsp, I have a commandbutton that has an action="save" (this is for simple testing since we are having problems with it) :

The problem is that when you click the button, it tries to reload editperson.jsp without the personID parameter, which causes an error because it is expecting a parameter as specified in the PersonBean managed bean declaration.
If I set the property to a constant value in the managed bean declaration, everything works fine, but when bound to the parameter, it causes an error.
I can see why it is an error, but I have no idea how to get around it. Am I passing parameters the wrong way, or is there some option to set a default value for the param, or am I navigating incorrectly?

Well, at last, it seems that after another day of testing, I have found the answer.
I'm posting back here since I found a number of people who had this problem, and none of them received an answer. Hopefully this might help some poor soul in the future.
The problem is data type conversion. When there is no person ID, the parameter is effectively a blank string, which of course cannot be converted to an integer. Even specifying the type in the managed property did not help the conversion process.
I have a mini test app that has a bean with managed int and string properties. The page renders fine when the intValue param is there, but crashes if it is not. The page doesn't give a hoot about whether the textValue parameter is there or not and will always render by substituting a blank string as the value.
I'm sure there must be some way to pass a parameter to a managed property as an integer without having the application crash if it is missing, especially considering most applications use integers for primary keys.
I have seen samples that do this, alas, since many don't compile, deploy and run out of the box, I am unable to verify whether or not they break under the same conditions.
The only thing I can think of is to have the backing bean act as a container for my real objects. I.e. PersonBean has a managed person ID string property which when set, converts the ID to an integer and loads up the person and assigns it to PersonBean.Person .
This is probably actually a better structure all round, especially if the backing bean for a view needs to contain other objects, i.e. a list of orders for that person. By adding the extra layer in there, it will make it easier to add additional model objects to the backing bean.

Issue with Commit Work and Wait.

Hi All,
None of the programs are working in my system which are calling BAPI BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT.
On COMMIT WORK AND WAIT statement, the process is going into indefinite loop. Everything was fine till last Thursday and there are no updates or patch level change or notes applied in the system.
Please advice.

Normally it's much easier to get help if you try to be as detailed as possible when explaining the problem and what exactly you have tried. No offense, but tried everything most likely translates into almost everything...
Some information/checks I'd be looking for:
<ul style="list-style:square!important">
<li>What functions are (or coding is) involved? Are they all standard or custom?</li>
<li>Have you tried update debugging and/or the usual traces (runtime analysis, SQL trace, etc.)?</li>
<li>What do you see in the process overview?</li>
<li>What about system log, developer trace, database logs/alerts, etc.?</li>
</ul>
Obviously my list is much too short and incomplete - yours must be longer. If you share your results (including your exchange with SAP) I suspect you have a better chance (though of course no guarantee) of somebody providing a valuable clue.
Not sure if it's just me, but the part that sounds so odd and suspicious is that you only mention commits via BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT. As this is just a wrapper around a COMMIT WORK I'm tempted to think it's the functionality that's invoked before (i.e. linked to the registered update functions/modules). Without any additional knowledge though, my first shot was for general update problems (which you ruled out).

Whay does button navigation change after I burn to Blu-ray using Encore CS6?

Very odd. I've set up my Blu-ray project - created and previewed all the buttons, menus and navigation. The main menu contains a "Play Video" button, which is supposed to trigger the entire video to play. The "Chapters" button takes the viewer to a chapters menu. Everything previews fine on my computer. After I burn the disc, however, the button functions on my main menu have flipped. The "Play Video" button now takes the user to the chapter menu page and the "Chapters" button now plays the video. Also, the "Play Video" button is programmed to be the default for this menu. Now the menu defaults to the "Chapters" button. By the way, I created the same project on a DVD which plays as programmed. Any idea why the Blu-ray is having these issues? I'm thinking I'll reload Encore CS5 and reconstruct the project there. Thanks.

I realized the problem was that the colors for the selected buttons on the Blu-ray version display darker than they do on the DVD. So I was being fooled into thinking the selected buttons weren't selected. Anyway, this was pilot error on my part. I just need to monkey with the color menu until I get the BR to approximate the DVD. Thanks. Cheers, Steve
