Error "ARC0: Unable to archive..." during rman backup
Hello DBA's!
Problem:
When ever I make an archivelog backup with rman it generates the following entry into the alertlog:
Wed Jun 20 21:00:26 2007
ARCH: Evaluating archive thread 1 sequence 9013
Wed Jun 20 21:00:26 2007
ARC0: Evaluating archive thread 1 sequence 9013
ARC0: Unable to archive thread 1 sequence 9013
Log actively being archived by another process
I use the following RMAN-Script:
"backup device type disk tag 'BACKUP_AL1' archivelog all not backed up 1 times;"
The comical thing is when a usual archivlog switch happens it all works fine with no errors or problems.
The backup also runs with no errors and after searching I found the following entry in Metalink:260040.1, it can't help me because the usual archivelog switch is working fine.
The environment which I use is an Oracle 10.1.0.4 Database in a Cluster Environment on Windows Server.
Maybe here is anyone with an idea? Thanks for the fast answer.
I read the metalink entry "Multiple archiver processes FAQ" Note:73163.1 and now I understand why this comment comes.
The parameter in the database "log_archive_max_processes" is set to 2 (means multiple archive processes).
I will change paramater back to 1 because the database will handle it by itself if it need more then 1 process. -

these are the last few lines of my DB alert log file.I have scheduled a shell script to backup all the archive log script but whenever the script is running I am getting this error.
Can any one explain me what this means.Looks like archiving is done with out any problem.
I am using "alter system archivelog current" in the script.
regards
JoeAlthough this is not a serious problem, it does cause your database to stop briefly. It indicates that you do not have enough redo log groups.
Essentially, Oracle writes redo information to log group 1 until it is full, then switches to log group 2. While lgwr is writing to group 2, arc writes group 1 to the archive log destination. If arc is not finished archiving group 1 before group 2 fills, then it has nowhere to switch to (i.e. group 1 is not available for lgwr to write to yet). In normal operation, when Oracle is managing log switches, you would see an error about unable to switch logs from lgwr. However, by issuing the archivelog current, arc does all the work. Since it is unable to do the log switch required to archive the current log, it generates the failed to archive message, and waits for group 2 to finish archiving.
If this is only a problem when doing the backup, you can probably ignore it. However, if you see log switch errors in normal operation, you should add another logfile group, so there will be more time between switches into any sngle group.

Unable to Archive Emails in Mavericks!
I am unable to archive emails in Mavericks.
This is what happens:
1. I am archiving emails in one or all mailboxes and then I switch to a different mailbox in Mail.
3. Then I switch back again to the previous mailbox and all the emails I tried to archive earlier, appear in the same mailbox (inbox)
Any sollutions?I've posted this question elsewhere (going to close it now) and I fixed it by selecting "Rebuild" from the Mailbox menu. It took a while to complete (see the floating activity window), but once that was done, Archiving worked.
Oddly it worked for me on some messages but not others, and there was no pattern to which worked (from, to, subject, etc.)
Try this and let's see if it works for you too. -

Please advice.Hi,
It's an information provided by one of the ARCH process (If you have configured more than one process then during the archiving might other process could not able to get the things to archive the log currently). That might be issue and information is logged in alert log. I think it won't not hurt your database you can monitor further in case of any other information or crutials errors.

ARC1: Unable to archive log 2 thread 1 sequence 28344
Hi
We have recently faced a situation that "Can not get Database Connection" when user was trying to connect through Informatica Power Analyzer. I also checked a alert.log file.I found following error in log file

Can you please give me a solution to this because there is no ORA error inside alert.log file.
Give me exact steps to resolve this if it is applicable to database.

Solution :- Archive log may be stuck. Check disk space .
start it manually with following command
alter system archivelog start;
or
alter system archivlog to '/abac/dir';

Unable to Archive-list of contents cannot be created
Hello all,
I have a problem that I just noticed. I am attempting to create a .zip archive of a folder of pictures. I right-click the folder in the Finder and select "Create Archive of folder". This gives me a message with the header Copy that states "The archive's list of contents cannot be created." and an OK button.
At first I thought that maybe the folder was too large. I tried the same steps on an individual text file and got the same error message. I tried copying the file to a different drive and still no joy. I created a new admin and normal user accounts and was unable to create any archives and received the same error message as above.
Does anyone have any clue as to the steps I should follow to correct this issue?Charles, your post certainly pointed in a good direction. After posting my question, I went back and reviewed everything that I had changed or installed over the last few days. It turns out that the beta version of Little Snitch causes permission errors. Similar to the posts on MacOSXHints, my /tmp folder suddenly became visible and showed as being owned by the staff group that I was no longer a part of. Uninstalling the Little Snitch program and repairing permissions has re-enabled archiving within the Finder. I've also posted a bug report to the developers of Little Snitch to see if they could look into the issue.
Thanks again for the advice. -
Unable to Archive Message Imported from Previous Profile
During the setup of a new computer, I copied my old profile into a new installation of Thunderbird by manually moving all mail folders from the old profile folder into the new profile folder.
I have found that I am unable to use the archive mail feature on any e-mail that was originally received under the old profile. The keyboard shortcut does not work, the archive button is not displayed with the message, and the menu option is disabled.
Any messages received after I setup Thunderbird are able to archive properly.I have discovered the issue:
I was looking through the "Inbox" mailbox file, trying to find differences between messages that I could archive and those that I could not.
I found a difference between some of the messages in their headers. The header "X-Account-Key:" was set to "account2" for the messages I could not archive and "account10" for the messages i could archive.
I updated the messages with "account2" to "account10" and opened up Thunderbird. I went to the messages I could not previously archive, and found they are now able to be archived. -
I am using Mail 1.3.11. I have my IMAP account set up with a Rule to copy incoming email into a folder 'On my Mac'.
However when I look at this mail, all I see is a message in italics " The message from "(description)” has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it."
I am unable to get the text of the message to display.
Any ideas how to cure thisThanks Steven
Your post is spot on - some spring cleaning is required
I had already tried the 'rebuild' step - everything in the folder disappeared!
So I deleted the whole folder and started up a new one, which is working fine. The reason I started this copying Rule is that I was losing older messages from my Inbox. I believed this was due to the restriction on my space on the ISPs server, and I was extremely concerned as a year or so's worth of older messages had disppeared. But now I have deleted the 'archive' I was copying them into, they have miraculously reappeared and I am very happy!
Thanks again.
Suggestion to Apple: Fit a guage on Mail so you can see when the thing is overloaded! -
Unable to archive warehouse view of an article in SAP Retail
Hi SAP Gurus,
I want to archive the warehouse view of a material which i extended to a wrong warehouse by mistake .
The basic check would be first to discontinue the article by WSE1,, i could not do that because it was having open PO and sales stock. How to close them. I tried closing PO by MASS by putting a lock indicator as "l". Still its not helping me out.
Anyone please let me know how to close all the POs and sales stock.
Regards.
SUMIIt is archiving object MM_MATNR to archive a material master in total or just a certain org level of the material. No other archiving object needed for this.
...i had performed SARA using MM-MATNR and had selected the object table as MLGN.
I am lost. I do archiving for many years but do not know where you can select a MLGN object .
After executing it successfully with no error in the job log
errors in the joblog refer to errors in the job. logical errors are stored in the spool file to the job (preconditioned you have selected to get a log)
> I had not performed the delete operation by SARA.
> why do i still see the MLGN enteries for the article.
writing an archive does not remove entries from your table, it just duplicates the info, from the table into an archive.
the delete step vefrifies if the archive can be accessed and is readable and then loops thru the archive and deletes the corresponding records from the database tables. -
External Drive won't mount to Time Capsule, Unable to Archive Disk
I use my Time Capsule as a network drive. I do not use it for Time Machine back-ups.
I need to backup the data on my Time Capsule disk. As far as I'm aware, the only way to back-up a Time Capsule disk is to connect an external drive to the Time Capsule's USB port; open AirPort Utility on your computer, navigate to the "Disks" tab, select "Archive Disk..." then choose the external drive in the "Destination" drop-down menu. The problem is, my G-Drive mini doesn't seem to power up adequately when connected to the Time Capsule to mount. I can hear the drive making a quiet clicking noise but nothing else happens. The G-Drive never becomes visible under the "Disks" tab in Airport Utility.
The external drive is newly formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) in Disk Utility. To connect the G-Drive mini to the Time Capsule I am using the USB cable that came with the G-Drive mini (port on back of drive says USB2.0). To power the G-Drive mini I am using a 12V, 2A AC Adapter (DC IN port).
The same configuration connected directly to my MacBook Pro mounts the drive without any trouble.
My hardware specs are: Time Capsule version 7.6.4; G-Drive mini GDM4 500 X; MacBook Pro 2.5GHz Intel Core i7
My software specs are: Lion OS 10.7.5; Airport Utility 6.3.1
Any help is much appreciated.I don't have a G-Drive here to test, but 3 other USB drives show up just fine when I test with them connected to the USB port on the Time Capsule using a powered hub.....all at the same time or one at a time.
You might want to ask G-Drive support if their firmware supports a network USB connection.....not just a local or direct connection on a computer.
Otherwise, I'm stumped. -
Unable to archive 2009 transaction figures (FI_MONTHLY)
Hi All,
We're trying to run archive for FI_DOCUMNT and FI_MONTHLY from 2003 - 2009. So far, we managed to archived both objects from 2003 until 2008, and FI_DOCUMNT for 2009. But when we tried to archive FI_MONTHLY for 2009, system said no data to be archived, even though we still can open FS10N.
We've checked the posting period and all period under 2009 have been closed. Is there any other setting that we need to set besides posting period?
We also found in the sap.help that stated that archiving FI_MONTHLY in current and previous year is not possible. Is this true?
Thanks a lot for the advice,
CWHi Anjireddya,
Thanks for the reply.
We are not archiving open item documents, we just want to archive the transaction figures.
When we archived 2003 - 2008, there were still open items as well but we could archive FI_MONTHLY.
Thanks,

Unable to Archive Customer only with General Data
Hi,
I am trying to archive the Customer master only with General Data. I followed the below steps.
1.Execute SAPF047 - To establish the link b/w customer and vendor
2.Tran: XD99 , Set the del flag and confirm the same in xd03
3.Tran: F56A , Select FI_ACCRECV object and perform the following
1. Preproc => Preprocess resulted that no data found in this category
2.Write => Preprocess resulted that no data found in this category
3.Delete => No data found
Note : I selected "General Master Records" and also tried with "SD Data" and "FI Data".
All resulted the same. Any Hints on this ?
Regards
PrasathHi Prasath,
Please follow the following steps...
1)Go to Transaction <SARA> and give the object name FI_ACCRECV and press ENTER
2)Go to Customizing -> Application-Specific Customizing->Mark customer for deletion (centr.) and mark the customers for deletion(This screen can alternatively be reached using transaction XD06).
3)Schedule the Write variant and execute the jobs
Data To Be Archived ---> General Data
Customer -
> Give Customer No to be archived
Consider Del Indic----
> Checked (If you are not doing step2, this can be unchecked)
Processing option----
> Select Production mode
4)Select Delete in SARA and run the delete jobs for the data which has been archived in step 3.
I dont see a preprocessing program available for the archiving object FI_ACCRECV. If you have that option available then it should automatically set the deletion indicator when u run the program , ie in that case step 2 can be avoided)
Hope this input helps you.
