Architecture and Implementation

Hello All,
I am kind of new to this field and I have started building applications, and now I have two terms that I would like some to explain to me. Sounds simple and crazy but, what do the terms "architecture" and "implementation" mean in the perfect Hyperion sense. For example, what does an Essbase architecture do, for example, does he design cubes? etc and other question is about "implementation" what does it mean when someone says "I have implemented 3 planning applications?
If someone could spare a little of their precious time to explain these terms that would be wonderful. A link would be great as well.
Thanks

Its recommended to maintain three environment.s
1. Development Environment ( BOD )
2. Quality Environment ( BOQ )
3. Production Environment ( BOP )
BOD : Development environment where you do all development. This environment may not be as same as Production with respect to server, resources and so on.
BOQ: Quality environment where Business users do testing. This environment is expected to be same server, same version when compared with Production. Resources such as memory and number of servers could vary.
Once approved by Business Users, content will be migrated from BOQ to BOP.
BOP: Production environment only meant for usage not for any development. UAT happens here once again to check the functionality of reports & other objects
In general, the BOQ and BOP content is always same except the objects which are under Business Users testing.
When it comes to backup, we must take frequent backups for CMS database, Input FRS, Output FRS and Audti Database.
The fequency depends how frequently the production environment is being updated.
Best Regards
Gowtham

    Hi Marcelo,
       Yes, there are some requirements for certificates in Expressway.
    Expressway Core (Exp-C)
    - Can be signed by either External or Internal CA
    - Better to use a cluster name even if you start with 1 peer in Exp-C cluster. In the future, if more peers are added, changes would be minimal.
    - Better to use FQDN of cluster as CN of certificate, this way the traversal zone configuration on Expressway-E won't require any change even if new peers are added to Exp-C cluster.
    - If CUCM is mixed mode, include security profile names (in FQDN format) as Subject Alternate Names
    - The Chat Node Aliases that are configured on the IM and Presence servers. They will be required only for Unified Communications XMPP federation deployments that intend to use both TLS and group chat. (Note that Unified Communications XMPP federation will be supported in a future Expressway release). The Expressway-C automatically includes the chat node aliases in the CSR, providing it has discovered a set of IM&P servers.
    - For TLS b/w CUCM, IM-P & Exp-C
      + If using self-signed certificates on CUCM, IM/P. Load Cisco Tomcat, cup, cup-xmpp certificates from IM-P on Exp-C. Load callmanager, Cisco Tomcat certificates from CUCM on Exp-C.
      + If using Internal CA signed certificates on CUCM, IM/P. Load Root CA certificates on Exp-C.
      + Load CA certificate under tomcat-trust, cup-trust, cup-xmpp-trust on IM-P.
      + Load CA certificate under tomcat-trust, callmanager-trust on CUCM.
    Expressway Edge (Exp-E)
    - Signed by External CA
    - Configured Unified Communications domain as Subject Alternate Name
    - If using a cluster, select FQDN of this peer as CN and FQDN of Cluster + this peer as Subject Alternate Name.
    - If XMPP federation is being deployed, enter the same Chat Node Aliases as entered in Exp-C.

  • Unable to compile T1 Architecture and Simulation modelling tool

    Hello,
    I am trying to compile the T1 Simulation and Architecture modelling tool. The whole package is downloaded from opensparc.net
    As a requirement, i am using Solaris 10 on SPARC based machine with Solaris Studio 12.3 as the compiler.
    When i am running the "build_sas.sh full" script, it gives me an error:

    the Callee.h file has the following declaration for line#97:
    inline void* operator new( size_t size, CalleeAllocator& a )/*{{{*/
    // This new() function is called for code written as
    // new(CalleeAllocator::allocator) Callee0<void>(f);
    // and allocates size bytes from the CalleeAllocator
      return a.alloc(size);
    I did some Google search, and found that, "An allocation function shall be a class member function or a global function; a program is ill-formed if an allocation function is declared in a namespace scope other than global scope or declared static in global scope. [..]" (c++ - operator new inside namespace - Stack Overflow).
    Would appreciate any help or suggestion.

    I tried you last suggestion, by simply moving the "new" function before the namespace, but it gave me the following  Error: The prior declaration for operator new(unsigned long) has no exception specification.
    So, I naively just defined the new as below, just to see what happens:
      41  inline void* operator new( size_t size, CalleeAllocator& a) throw()
        42  {return a.alloc(size);
        43  }
    which, after compilation gives the following error:
    Error: std::bad_alloc is not in the prior exception specification
    The download link to the whole package is here: OpenSPARC T1
    At the end of the page, there is the download link to the OpenSPARC T1 Processor for Architecture and Performance Modeling Tools.
    below is the original Callee.h file: Line 97 is where the operator new is defined which appears to be outside of namespace Riesling.

    Hi Dhiyadav,
    thank you for your reply it cleared some doubts that were in my mind but i need your more support to guide me a converged access deployment which i am going to deploy within few days.
    i have
    2x5508 in HA as MC
    30x3850 switches, and all will be used as MA(s) with multiple SPGs
    2X5508  1:1 as an anchor controller
    1xISE 1.3 for guest access
    1xCPI for wireless mgmt and monitoring purpose
    1xMSE3355 with wips and context aware licenses
    200x cisco 3702i WAP
    50x WSSI module for monitoring the channels
    can you please put a light on the design and guide me that which are the best possible solutions to get this job done very smoothly.
    i will also let you know about my proposed design scenario but for sure i need your recommendations as well :)
    so,
    i will use 2x5508 wlcs in HA as a MC which are AP-Count and HA licensed..
    3850 switches will be MA and i ll configure SPGs per floor switches stacks
    WAPs will join on these 3850 MAs base on each floor
    i would have 2 ssid like employee and guest
    i will configure them on each 3850 stack MA along with their SVIs for users access like (empolyee and guest ssid)
    here my question is for guest ssid and its vlan... do i configure it here or on anchor controller???
    i want ISE to be integrated with wireless for employee 802.1x and for guest web Auth. so, how i will integrate ISE with wireless. i mean weather i will integrate it anchor controller or with each 3850 MA???
    between foreign and anchor controller i will use new mobility instead of old EOIP!!!
    where shall place ISE in my network, in DMZ or with Core switch?
    my target for guest users to do not have access to any corporate network sources ?
    MSE:
    can i use both wips and context aware on the single MSE box?
    if yes, than what is the best practice for configuring them?
    are each 3850 MA will be added in MSE?
    WSSI module . will be used for monitoring purpose for wips and context aware profiles.
    all access point will be worked in local mode for serving users access.
    thank you

  • Best architecture and design pattern to use

    I am currently designing a moderately sized LabView application and cannot decide on the best architecture/design pattern or combinations thereof to implement.
    The program basically polls an instrument connected to a serial port continuously at a 2-10Hz rate. When operator clicks a button to start a run, the polled data is then filtered, has math functions performed on the data, writes collected data to files, and produces reltime graphs and calculates point-by-point statistics. At the completion of a run, some additional data files are written. I pretty much know how to accomplish all these tasks.
    What is also required is main-vi front panel interaction by the operator to access a database (via a C# dll with .Net) to query for specifications to apply in order to determine pass/fail status. Setup conditions also need to be changed from time to time by the operator and applied to the data in real time (ie- a measurement offset). I have prototyped the database portion successfully thus far.
    For the main vi, I started off using the Top Level Application Using Events design pattern (Event structure within a while loop). Copious use of bundled clusters and shift registers keep the database data updated. I cannot figure out how to have the top level vi concurrently poll the serial device as outlined above. The Event structure is only active when defined control values change, and use of a timeout is no help since it prevent data from being collected while the user is accessing the database. All database and setup parameters must be applied to the data as it comes in from the serial port. Error trapping/recovery is a must.
    I believe what I need is two parallel processes running under my main vi (one for database and setup, the other for polling and data processing/display, but what would be the preferred choice here?
    Revert back to a polled loop in lieu of Events, use notifiers, occurrences, user-defined events, Producer-consumer loops?
    Its been about 3 years since I have had an application on this level (which used a state machine architecture), and a lot has changed in LabView (using 7.1 Prof Devel). I am currently having a mental block while trying to digest a lot of features I have never used before.
    Suggestions Welcome!
    Thanks.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    "It’s the questions that drive us.”
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    I suggest a (3) state machine(s) architecture. The first is the user interface. Your main VI is a good start. Another state machine handles the instrument I/O (your serial polling). The third handles all data processing. The three loops run independently. Each has a wait to allow LV's scheduler to share CPU time among the loops. I like queues or functional globals for inter-loop communications.
    This allows a lot of flexibility. Each portion can be tested alone. Each can have different timing and priority.
    Spend some time thinking about what needs to be done and plan the structure carefully before you do any coding (except for little test programs to try new ideas).

  • Sapphone Central architecture and pop-ups

    Hello,
    We are going to integrate Symosium CTI with SAPphone Server. Looking for the best architecture to implement we´ve seem that the central architecture has a "problem":
    "The disadvantage of central architecture is that incoming messages are not displayed in the SAPphone window directly. This is due to the fact that direct communication between work center and telephony software is not possible. Users first receive an express message about an inbound call. They can then open the SAPphone window from this dialog box."
    So, our agent´s front is going to be the CIC0. In this mode, It´s necessary to pulse any button to see the pop-up with the client´s information or it appears directly?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards.

    Hello Tony,
    First of all, thank you very much.
    I appreciate your offer of help but we´ve achieved to integrate the SAPphone with the symposium.
    Best regards,
    Esteban

  • Establishing BPM, SOA and Enterprise Architecture and 'Governance'

    Good day all,
    (Originally posted on LinkedIn Oracle BPM group)
    (This post can also apply to those implementing SOA and/or Enterprise Architecture)
    After reviewing Oracle's IT Strategies from Oracle (ITSO) reference library (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/entarch/itso-165161.html) there does not seem to be anything specifically created (yet) targeting a BPM Governance Framework.
    It is mentioned in a document in the above mentioned library, titled "Business Process Engineering", document ID E20216-03, file name of, oracle-pg-bpm-bus-proc-eng-r3-0-292099, page 5-2, 3rd paragraph, and I quote, " (see A Framework for BPM Governance for more information). Yet there is no link or section to or for said reference nor anything else within that document. Disappointing.
    The closest and so far best approach I feel is a PDF file titled, ONE 2010-ART-BPM Governance Framework-VKhusidman-v51, authored by Vitaly Khusidman, titled "BPM Governance Framework", BPTrends ▪ July 2010
    In this above document Dr. Khusidman recommends utilizing TOGAF as a framework for establishing the BPM Governance Framework. This also seems like a sound approach for those addressing the Enterprise Architecture (and governance which is a part of that larger 'whole') as well as SOA and BPM, especially those moving to a combination of SOA and BPM.
    What are the thoughts and approaches being used by others, who may also be using some of Oracle's products and tools, and tasked with addressing the whole enterprise and/or SOA-BPM combined?
    Cheers

    Or that phase of product life cycle..
    It seems as if academics are taking an increasing interests in SDN for gathering data. Possibly a knock-on of the University Alliances.
    IMO this one is legitimate.

  • Production and Implementation

    Hello Gurus,
                          I want the details like....In production support what are the our usual works(roles), and what we have to do.
                          If we are getting tickets, in which manner we have to respond for those tickets.
                          What are the exact daily works in a production support  project. And what are the exact daily works in a implementation  project.
                          What are the t-codes we have to be perfect in support and implementation.
    Please help me
    Thanks and Regards
    Kumar.

    Hi,
    It may vary in different projects.
    I can just give you a couple of general roles.
    Migration project
    • Designing mapping documents in order to check the need of creation in BW.
    • Developing various objects like Cubes, ODS, Info Sources, InfoObjects etc.
    • Designing Transfer Rules and update rules including start routines, update routines and Transfer routines as per the requirement.
    • Scheduling Info Packages to carry out the data loading process. Involved in data loading from SAP R/3 to Source layer ODSs into BW. Loaded data using Data mart, as the Business layer and Report layer ODSs get loaded from source layer ODSs using data mart functionality of BW.
    • Involve in the backfilling of historical data from present sys to SAP BW .
    • Developing the Master/Transactional data process chains considering the dependency among the BW objects and automated the triggering and monitoring of the same on daily, weekly and monthly basis.
    • Transportation of various BW components.
    • Performing unit testing and data validation of newly developed and enhanced objects in Quality BW system in terms of providing an efficient solution.
    • Responsible for overseeing the Quality procedures related to the project.
    • Responsible to deliver (Transport into Prod) the object as per the scheduled deadlines; with accuracy of deliverables by considering the quality norms.
    • Involving in the Client/Onsite communication for any client side clarifications, for assignment of work, for discussing on project status related issues, etc.
    Support project
    Data Load Monitoring:
    1.Carried out data load on a daily, weekly and monthly basis using Process chains from both SAP Source systems as well as Non-SAP Source systems such as Informatica.
    2.Resolving Data load error such as Invalid characters, Time period conversion, Currency conversion, Duplicate records, etc
    3.Ensuring the availability of the updated data in the datatarget on time.
    4.Spooling out data through Infospoke from SAP BW to systems like Trillium, Ariba (Reporting Tool)
    Ticket Resolution:
    1.Process chain modification: Working on “Optimizing Process chain” by creating new process chain considering the load dependencies.
    2.Reloading of R/3 data from different clusters – Reconciliation issues
    3.Enhancements as per Business requirement.
    Additional responsibilities:
    •Preparing design documents from the Business Requirement docs and identified the relevant data targets for satisfying the customer requirements.
    •Creation of Operational manual: BW Run & Maintain Support.
    •Process Chain Detail Documentation (Sequencing & Dependency within Local Chains).
    •Monitoring checklist Document (From Process Chain Perspective)
    •BW Doc checklist preparation
    •Table space activity with basis team.
    •Data load analysis taking into account the CPU utilization.
    •Applying Support packs and performing ORT.
    Most projects have different number of cubes with varying volume of data. You cant generalize this.
    hope this helps,

  • How to create and implement a new work schedule rule successfully?

    Dear Community,
    How to create and implement a new work schedule rule successfully?
    In other words, what are all the basic steps to create and implement a new work schedule rule successfully?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Follow the below steps to create Work Schedule:
    Holiday Calendar
    Transaction Code: SCAL
    Holiday calendar comprises of list of paid holidays to be given to employees on festivals by the company.
    Personnel Area/SubArea Groupings
    Go to SPRO --> Time Management --->Work Schedules --> Personnel SubArea Groupings
    Maintain perosnnel area/Subarea groupings for work schedule.
    i.e. Suppose in Mumbai you have WS = GEN ( 10 to 6) and in Chennai you have WS = NORM ( 8 to 4 )
    Work Schedule
    Go to SPRO --> Time Management --->Work Schedules -->Daily Work Schedules
    Go to SPRO --> Time Management --->Work Schedules -->Period Work Schedules
    Daily Work Schedule is actually your office timings with breaks (paid /unpaid) i.e. Planned Working Time which is then included
    in Period Work Schedule to make a week ( M T W T F S S )
    Daily Work Schedule (i.e. Day) -
    > Period Work Schedule (i.e. Week)
    Work Schedule Rules
    Go to SPRO --> Time Management --->Work Schedules -->Work Schedule Rules and Work Schedules
    After doing above mentioned configurations,maintain employee group/subgroup groupings in which you have to define which calendar is applicable for which type of employees for which work schedule.
    You will maintain this work schedule in infotype 0007 - Planned Working Time of employee via transaction code - PA30

  • Best Practice regarding using and implementing the pref.txt file

    Hi All,
    I would like to start a post regarding what is Best Practice in using and implementing the pref.txt file. We have reached a stage where we are about to go live with Discoverer Viewer, and I am interested to know what others have encountered or done to with their pref.txt file and viewer look and feel..
    Have any of you been able to add additional lines into the file, please share ;-)
    Look forward to your replies.
    Lance

    Hi Lance
    Wow, what a question and the simple answer is - it depends. It depends on whether you want to do the query predictor, whether you want to increase the timeouts for users and lists of values, whether you want to have the Plus available items and Selected items panes displayed by default, and so on.
    Typically, most organizations go with the defaults with the exception that you might want to consider turning off the query predictor. That predictor is usually a pain in the neck and most companies turn it off, thus increasing query performance.
    Do you have a copy of my Discoverer 10g Handbook? If so, take a look at pages 785 to 799 where I discuss in detail all of the preferences and their impact.
    I hope this helps
    Best wishes

  • Extending and implementing

    Is there a way to tell the compiler: this variable is of this class and implements that interface.
    Say for instance a Component that implements ActionListener
    extending component with an abstract class that implements ActionListener and then extend this class wouldn't work since then i can'T as well extend button textArea ect.

    if(variable instanceof Component) {
    //do something
    if(variable instanceof ActionListener) {
    //do something else
    if( (variable instanceof Component) &&
    (variable instanceof ActionListener) ) {
    // really do something else
    }

  • How to connect Template project and Implementation project

    Hi Experts,
         I would like to know how to connect Template project and Implementation project
        in Solution maneger.   Please help.
    Best regards,
       Gaito

    Hey Gaito,
    great. Now that you have a template project, you need to create one or more templates within the project template.
    Go to tab Templates (of your Templ Proj) and activate 'Global Rollout Functionnality' to be able to use the templates.
    Create a new template thanks to button create. Visibility will be set to red 'private'. You ll have to set it to visible so it becomes visible from your implementation project.
    You ll see when trying to do that next message 'No scenarios/configuration structures assigned to the template XXXX'. That means that in SOLAR01 you did not define a scenario that ll be used in template you re trying to create
    In order to do that go to SOLAR01 for template project, select/create scenarios in tab structure and set in column template value of your template (the one you re creating in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN) and in Global Attribute set value t Global
    You l definitely find more info on this in sap document SMI310 (course). I don t know if you can find it on internet
    Hope this helps
    Regards

  • Query on Physical Architecture,Logical Architecture and Model

    Hi Experts,
    I have a confusion regarding Physical Architecture,Logical Architecture and Model.Please tell me what type of information or data these above three hold.
    Thanks

    Physical architecture contains information on the physical setup of your environment i.e. server names, jdbc connection strings, usernames, Passwords etc.
    The logical architecture provides a layer of abstraction that allows you to group via contexts similar Physical architecture components which reside in different locations/environments.
    Models are the reversed representations of the objects in your physical architecture i.e. tables, flat files etc. Models are used as sources and targets in your interface design

  • How to design and implement an application that reads a string from the ...

    How to design and implement an application that reads a string from the user and prints it one character per line???

    This is so trivial that it barely deserves the words "design" or "application".
    You can use java.util.Scanner to get user input from the command line.
    You can use String.getChars to convert a String into an array of characters.
    You can use a loop to get all the characters individually.
    You can use System.out.println to print data on its own line.
    Good luck on your homework.
