• Oracle 9i request wrong archive log name during recovery

Hello all,
I am facing a problem with a database 9i Enterprise Edition running on Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition environment. According to the customer, when he takes the database offline using MSCS to take an offline backup, the database crashes when he tries to put it back online... But here a strange thing happens... when the command RECOVER DATABASE is issued, it asks for the wrong archive log... for example:
The actual sequence is 14322, but Oracle asks for the archive log SID_4322... (in this case we have to rename the original file SID_14322 to SID_4322). I don't understand why it asks for the archive incorrectly... I issued the command ARCHIVE LOG LIST and it says that the current thread is 14322 (which is correct)... every new archive is created with the correct name (SID_143XX)... why is it asking for an archive without the number 1 in this case? Rename all the files to recover a database is not very pleasent job... creating an script to do so is not a solution in my opinion, hehe. Thanks for your help in advance.

Hello Damorgan,
MSCS = Microsoft Cluster Services (it's an MMC console). The backup strategy is very old, and they use BR*Tools script to create a job on ArcServe Brigstor, and then the backup is performed via backint. (It's an SAP ERP system, which should be backed up using BR*Tools). I checked the alert log and I think that the problem is the length of the archive log name (in the alert log it gives me the error below):
ARCH: Warning. Log sequence in archive filename wrapped
to fix length as indicated by %S in LOG_ARCHIVE_FORMAT.
Old log archive with same name might be overwritten.
Media Recovery Log E:\ORACLE\SID\SAPARCH\SIDARCH\SIDARCH_43454.DBF <- this should be SIDARCH_143454.DBF
Now I'm looking for a parameter where I can set the length of the archives, your help would be very appreciated (and please let me know if I'm not going the right way).

• How to copy Log text (with Date, Time stamp ) User IDfrom BP to Transaction

Hi Experts,
Can someone guide us how to copy Log text (with Date ,Time & User ID) fron Business partner (Prospect) to transactions by text detrmination procedure.
Regards,
Basavaraj Patil

save text
Fill out following parameters of SAVE_TEXT function module:
HEADER
TDOBJECT C 10 BUT000
TDNAME C 70 10 digit BP number
TDID C 4 Z001
TDSPRAS C 1 Language
INSERT = ’X’
LINES
TDFORMAT TDLINE
|
|testtttttttttttttttttttttttt( Your text)
I would suggest you to use some other BAPI that would attach your text to BP than SAVE_TEXT.
If you still wanted to use SAVE_TEXT then first make sure how the TDNAME is generated. It depends on the text determination procedure. For examples, it can be guid of BP, GUID followed by date or time or else the BP number itself.
Just go to BP transaction, double click on the text pad, it will open you the SAP Script editor. Click on menu GOTO and select Header which will give you info about your TDID, TDOBJECT, TDNAME....
Hope this helps.

• Size archive log different with online redo log

Dear Experts,
I had a problem with archive redo log size. I saw the size between archive redo log and online redo log is different.
The online redo log on path /oracle/SID/origlogA/log_g17m1.dbf , the size is 280MB, but on archive log the size just 130MB.
Why the size different? How to change the archive redo log?

Hey Jason,
Create a validation of type exists. in expression 1 put:
SELECT 1
FROM DUAL
WHERE UPPER(:P9_FILE) LIKE '%TEST.HTML';
{code}
change P9_FILE to your file browse item name and change '%TEST.HTML' to '%YOUR_FILE_NAME'

• Problem in Archive log sync with Passive Node to Standby

Hi,
I have configured Active-Passive Oracle Database using Fail Safe between Active and Passive Node. Also successfully configured Data Guard between Active Node to Standby Node.
Versions:
1. Oracle Database Version: Oracle 11g R2
2. Oracle Fail Safe: 3.4.2
3. OS: Windows Server 2008 R2
Problem:
Now after fail over the database to Passive node, to check whether the DR is functioning or not, archive logs are not transferring to Standby node. In the Passive Node aler log file error is showing:
"ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
PING[ARC2]: heartbeat failed to connect to standby órcldr´. Error is 1031
Could anyone please let me know the possible reason for this and the resolution.

Hello;
I'm thinking password file. It needs to be the same copy on all instances.
Did you copy and rename it as needed?
And you need to restart using the correct copy of the password file too.
So a Standby for example must startup on the correct copy of the password file or you will still get the error.

• Using the regex to match the file name with date time

Hello all,
currently I had problem to match the following file name with the date time. Of course I can use this regex like ""(\\\\w+|.+).(zip)" to match it. However in the current application i need to parse the file name and get the current date time to check if it is matched. Does anyone have good idea?
{code}
testfile10-08-09-2008-08-21-04-24-0443.zip
testfile11-08-09-2008-08-22-04-24-0441.zip

- with "\\\\w" you probably meant "\\w";
- "\\w+|.+" doesn't make sense: you can simply do ".+" in that case;
- ".(zip)" will also match the string "%zip" or "Ezip".

• Have file name with date working but appending the time to file name can't get a result

DECLARE @dt AS VARCHAR(26)
SELECT @dt = REPLACE(CONVERT(VARCHAR(26),getDate(),110),'-','-'
Have this appended to a filename like: log_01-15-2015. Don't know what to add to SQL code to get the get the time and append time in hours, min, sec. like: log_01-15-2015_10:01:33
DECLARE @dt AS VARCHAR(50)
SELECT @dt = REPLACE(CONVERT(VARCHAR,CURRENT_TIMESTAMP,110),'-','-') +'_'+ CONVERT(VARCHAR,CURRENT_TIMESTAMP,108)

EXEC master..xp_cmdshell @bcpCommand
I am trying to append to the file created with the date a time stamp but when appending the time part for the filename results aren't creating the file. If it's just doing the date part then it is working. Any idea what is wrong?

Since you added ":" to the file name, the file name is not valid. You can change ":" to "-".
DECLARE @dt AS VARCHAR(50)
SELECT @dt = CONVERT(VARCHAR,CURRENT_TIMESTAMP,110) +'_'+ REPLACE(CONVERT(VARCHAR,CURRENT_TIMESTAMP,108), ':', '-')

• Receiver File Name with date

Hi @,
I have a requirement where I wanted to genereate the recevier file name as TestYYYYMMDD.txt format.
Note that in Receiver target structure date is not coming and output file also we dont require date data.
I tried to put the Date root node and date field in target structure and in Receiver FCC i have not put the Date root node name but still date data is generated in output file.
Since its a Comma separated file hence I can not use CUT option which is applicable for Fixed length file.
I used the time stamp option but it is giving HH.MM.SS details which i dont want.
Is there any other options available.
chirag

You can add a node 'TRAIL' with 'FILENAME' sub-node; Your target format is like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<ns0:MT_FILE_STRING_OUT xmlns:ns0="HTTP://WWW.XXX.COM">
<Recordset>
<Row>3</Row>
</Recordset>
<Trail>
<Filename>DFS-XXX-20090804173307</Filename>
</Trail>
</ns0:MT_FILE_STRING_OUT>
When mapping, the UDF can be:
(imports: java.text.SimpleDateFormat;)
SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyyMMddHHmmss");
String ds = sdf.format(new Date(System.currentTimeMillis()));
String filename = "DFS-ADSFCL-" + ds;
return filename;
In file adapter, you can use the adapter attributes to get the file name and the conversion to cut the trail node in the file...
Done!

• Automate to run the report & save it a name with date prefix

We are planning to build a new in-house system. And would like to
schedule some reports running in mid-night & automatically distribute to the
users. Also, we would like to make a hardcopy per each day in case the users
need some previous info which may not be found in the database since the data
might be changed. So I thought the file name of each hardcopy should use the
date as prefix.
Do we need Oracle application server for such requirement?

Hello,
We have integrated oracle reports into oracle portal and it works great. The reports can be scheduled by a user in the front-end. What I would suggest is at the same time of scheduled report to the user's email is to schedule the same report to a printer. If you have more than one report engine, then your reports will run simultaneously.
Yes, I think you need the oracle 9ias because oracle reports does not come standalone.

• SAVING PICTURE NAME WITH DATE

Hello, although I love my z10, I don't understand why the saving of picture does not include the date in the name of the file (as it used to in my BB 9900)... It was very useful for my work to scroll in the gallery and immediatly see the date the picture was taken. Is there a way to change the way the name is given to the picture? Please help, I can't believe this option does not exist (i know the date can appear in the file manager, but still i would like my picture name to feature the date...) thanks for your help!

The naming convention used by the new Blackberry camera is pretty standard amongst digital camera makers, albeit not what you are used to from previous BlackBerrys.
Date, etc are all stored by the file info and in the EXIF data anyway, so I assume that they decided it was not necessary.
If you browse the photos in the file manager the date shows right under the filename, so I have to assume that as they round out the photo viewer they will add the same functionality.. the photo viewer needs lots of other work anyway... folders, etc. so I expect that we will see some improvements here before long.
It would be nice to be able to change the naming convention to one of your choosing though, maybe something that you should add to the 'feature request' thread.

You are using GetMetaData() incorrectly. It returns an array of structures. Cfloop through the returned array, and output the #name# and #typeName# keys.
But .. if you only need the column metadata. Dan's suggestion of using cfdbinfo would seem more appropriate here.
