Archived email wiped after deactivating email account after Mail upgrade. Help!

I recently archived very important email - it was email that I would no longer need to use, but the files EVERYTHING was very important for a later date.  So I deactivated said email account.  I upgraded to the new version of Apple Mail yesterday.  After wards I wanted to reactivate the account.  However the email that was in the archived folder is no longer there.
HELP!

If you are a corporate Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) user - ask your BES admin to resolve this point on the server.
Seems that on the server there is information that your device (identified by PIN) has already configured mail account.

  • I can't seem to set up a second email account with Mail. Help...and thanks!

I'm having an impossible time setting up a second email account on Mail. Seemed as though it would be simple but after I've done all the basics, it sets up the account on MobileMe instead of iCloud and there it stops. Can't send or receive messages. I'm lost!  Advice?

I do have an iCloud account and have since October. I am trying to set up a second email address. Perhaps I'm asking Mail to do more than it's equipped to do.
I have set up an alias with the new email address through my existing iCloud account. However, when I test sending and receiving, the emails to and from the new address are in the same list as my regular Mail. Not sure this helps with my desire to separate the two! Perhaps I'm still doing something wrong.
    I do appreciate your help.

  • How come, when I add myYahoo! email account to MAIL, after verifying, I always get the "server unavailable. please try again later"

How come, when I add myYahoo! email account to MAIL, after verifying, I always get the "server unavailable. please try again later"

    THANKS! this worked !!!
I hit "DELETE THIS ACCOUNT" on my iphone (this is the Yahoo I tried to set up by "picking" it from the list that the iphone5 gives you) and then confirmed to delete everything.
THEN: while in Mail (still in the Settings Section) I tapped on "ADD ACCOUNT..." but this time tapped on "OTHER" and manually put in my yahoo ID and password and I did not even have to go to the   SMTP or IMAP incomming/outgoing stuff at all. But I checked it out under the "ADVANCE" tab and it was already correct for yahoo. (ALMOST SEEMED TOO EASY)
Went to my home screen and tapped on MAIL and my yahoo email loaded up just right!
Now, I have no idea if I have any other issues like if I delete mail on the iphone; does it delete properly on my ipad...etc..etc. but one problem at a time is getting fixed. THANKS!

  • I have 3 email accounts in Mail on Macbook Pro.  Mail is only being sent from 1 account.

I have 3 email accounts in Mail.  Mail is only being sent from 1 account, even though I select one of the other accounts in the "from" field.  In my sent box, the "From" field says the accout I selected, but all recipients say they receive it from a different account.  I set my composing preferences "send new messages from" to the main account, but all my mail is still being sent from a different account.  I cannot see that this is happening, only people receiving it can.  I noticed it because when they reply, it goes to a different account than what I sent to them.  Any suggestions with what I should do?

Thank you!  Funny.  I had just found that answer eleswhere:  http://simonwheatley.co.uk/2013/02/apple-mail-sending-email-from-the-wrong-accou nt/

  • How do I remove an entire email account from mail if it does not allow me to click "remove mailbox"?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unfortunately you can't delete accounts, you also can't change or remove iCloud addresses.

  • Setting up a new email account on mail, the password is entered for connecting to the in

Assuming that in this day and age you want security.
Setting up a new email account on mail, the password is entered for connecting to the in & outgoing servers before SSL is set.  Before you can set SSL, mail connects to the servers so email password is transmitted unencrypted?
This seems a very obvious quirk/bug and something that I have always felt uncomfortable about.
Anyone else think this is not a good thing?

Actually it look like all apple devices have the same mail setup procedure, so are your email passwords all being sent over the network in plain text before you get the chance to set the SSL option?
Any security experts care to comment.

How do you mass archive emails in iclould mail?  I have 330,000 emails and what to move old emails from my inbox to a managed folder. Can anyone help?

Winston - thank you for your reps but that is common sense... Icloud only displays 50 emails at a time. So your recommendation doesn't work if you have 330,000 emails in your inbox. I am looking for a way to do a mass move.. Like a filter or rule that runs in the inbox. Current rules can only work as emails arrive.
    Any other thoughts?

  • I am constantly prompted to verify my password for my ATT (Yahoo) email account in Mail.

Every frew minutes I am prompted to reenter/verify my ATT email account in Mail.  This has been working flawlessly until a few weeks ago.  I tried deleting and recreating the account with no success.
ATT uses Yahoo to host their email and I use the imap inbound and outbound server settings.  I can still receive and send using that account but have to respond to the "enter your password pop-up every few minutes even though the password field is populated.

I am also searching for the "fix" as mine hase been doing the same for about 3-4 months now and this is OLD... there are a lot of people working on this from the "communities forum" but Apple is doing nothing about it so far... I have also searched the Yahoo communities for a "fix" but the trolls just tell everyong to move to Gmail... LOL... so I will hope you(and the rest of us= alot) get an answer in here... If I find the "fix" elsewhere, I will be back to post here...

  • Is there a way to have multiple email accounts in mail but only get notifications for one account?

I would like to add my junk email account to mail for quick access, but I don't want to see notifications (or the number of unread emails).  The options I can find are notifications for all accounts or none.  On my iphone, I can select the notification level for each email address, but I can't find this option for my mac.

    Hi,
Yes the smart mailbox you set up was a very basic one. I tells Mail to display anything that is assigned to that account. So if you move an email from say the inbox of that account, to another folder of the same account, then the smart mailbox will not look any different as it is looking at the whole account.
In reality, you never need to use or look at this smart mailbox and you can continue to keep looking at the normal inboxes as you always have, but the Dock icon will only update according to unread emails anywhere in that account.
If you would like to refine what the smart mailbox looks at, say the inbox only of that account, then you add another rule to the smart mailbox.
    Edit the smart mailbox
hit '+' next to the first rule
    Add the new rule
Now the smart mailbox will only display what is in the inbox of that account

  • I deleted a pop email account from mail.  How can I recover those sent messages without Time Machine?

I deleted a pop email account from mail.  How can I recover those sent messages without Time Machine?

    Thomas,
"Note that you were warned that this would happen and approved it.  When you delete an e-mail account in Mail, you are shown a message like the following:"
You didn't read my problem - I said I deleted a POP email account.  I always read the messages that pop up and in Mail when you delete a POP account - IT DOESN'T TELL YOU NUTHIN!  It just deletes it - which *** for me.  Fortunately, I had an iPhone and on that device I had about a 1000 messages that I could recover but on all my POP accounts I download them from the server onto my Mac so they were only on Mail (the really old ones that I wanted to keep.)  I had to move them into another directory one by one basically because when I would move 50 some of them would move and some wouldn't and I never did figure out that problem.  Basically the ones that would not move are the ones that were associated with my domain changes with GoDaddy, and there were a lot of those.  Have no idea as to why only those were resistant to moving but I can get all that data from GoDaddy anyway.
This thread is now moot seeing as how I've recovered everything I can and am going to just move on - and back up more often.  ;-)
Apple and Mail need to rewrite that program to include a WARNING MESSAGE when deleting an Account in Mail that says ALL YOUR MESSAGES ARE GOING TO DISAPPEAR NEVER TO RETURN IF YOU DELETE THIS ACCOUNT, SO YOU DANG WELL BETTER HAVE A BACK UP IF YOU WANT TO KEEP ANYTHING BEFORE PRESSING THAT MINUS SYMBOL!  ;-)

  • I have email account that mail disappears after a day or so.

I have email disappearing after a day or so.  I have a secod email account that the email stays on the computer.

    '''Download the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/ Mozilla Search Reset]''' {web link}
This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up
and then resets your search preferences and home page
to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This
affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.

  • Can't set up mailbox for fourth email account on Mail?

    I have a Macbook Pro - Mid 2009 - 2.53GHZ, 4GB and 250GB HD.
    Running OS version 10.6.8.
My specific question is this I am using Mail 4.6 and have already set up a primary email account and through time I have added an additional 3 email addresses. they are all from the same ISP. No problems so far until recently when I created a new email address through my ISP and tried to create a new mailbox on mail. For whatever reason I cannot access the new account and I have done the following steps:
Made sure email address was correct and password too.
Checked working mail preferences against the new email account
Deleted one of the old working email mailboxes
Phoned the ISP support and they checked everything
Can access emails on the ISP webmail account
Checked that SSL option was unchecked which it was
After numerous phone calls to the ISP they have advised that I should phone Apple Technical support.
As this computer is quite old I would need to pay £35GBP for this support.
I cannot fathom why the previous mailboxes would work and now why subsequent new email accounts cannot be created on Mail.
On previous mailboxes there would be a separate trash box for each account and in this case when I create a new account this is not created.
Also the mailbox is greyed out and there is a warning symbol next to it.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
P.S I am thinking of upgrading to a Macbook Pro Retina and wonder if there is a simple way of transferring my saved email folders to my new mac?

    Both of these are wrong.
I finally set up .me.com on my Mac
The same settings on my ipad are not working.
AppleCare had to walk me through a bizarre set of steps
Those same steps apparently are different on an ipad
But .mac, .me account that exist can migrate with all you old aliases.
I will try to remember to log back in here and answer this when apple calls me in a few hours

  • How to make Mail email accounts retrieve mail in different ways

I want to be able to set my email accounts to fetch/push mail differently. On my iPhone, I can make my work email "inactive" when I don't want to use it (weekends, etc.). Can I do something similar in Mail on my Mac? Making certain accounts inactive would be ideal, but if I could set some of them to manually retreive and the others to push, it would probably acheive a similar result. Right now I just keep deleting the email when I don't want to use it and readding it when I need to check work email at home. When I look in Preferences, it looks like you only have one option that gets applied to all accounts.

    Hi Carolyn,
Thanks a lot for your help and sorry for the inconvenience. I follow your instruction but it is still not working.
I tried to use now another Mac which I have here, with Mac system 10.6.8, where I use the safari version 5.1.10 (6534.59.10) and it works perfect.
    Here are the screenShots:
The screenshot from the older computer: here you see the option Mail contents of this page.
Using that older Mac we have the perfect result, where you see the legal text + images, which i sent to me in bcc.
The result from my Mac with Maverick and after following the instruction:
You see the full legal text but no the image!
Maybe this is just a minor bug in Safari, to exploring yet and to improve. For the meantime I have to use the older Mac only for this part of the job. Not A PERFECT DAY (lou reed, RIP) but not the end of the world!
Thanks for you help and I´m looking forward to get news on this issue from you.

  • Syncing aol email accounts with mail?

I'm new to Mac, and I love my macbook but I can't figure out how to set up my aol email accounts using imail. Is that possible? I have two aol email accounts and I've been going on aol.com to check my messages but lately it hasn't been loading so I don't know what to do!
How can I sync my aol email accounts with imail? Is aol considered IMAP?
    Macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Yes, AOL accounts must be set up as IMAP in Mail, but AOL has a lot of idiosyncrasies and some really nasty “features” that normal IMAP accounts don’t have and that you should be aware of.
To more easily set up your AOL account in Mail, you may use AOL Service Assistant, which also provides assistance for using other AOL services in Mac OS X.
Instructions for setting up an AOL account in standard mail clients such as Mail should be available somewhere on AOL’s website, and can also be found here:
    http://members.aol.com/adamkb/aol/mailfaq/imap/applemail.html
These instructions are for Mail 1.3, and are somewhat outdated, but they can be used for Mail 2.x as well noting that the Special Mailboxes preference pane is called Mailbox Behaviors in Mail 2.x, and I believe you can now enable SSL for both the incoming (Preferences > Accounts > Advanced) and the outgoing mail server if you wish.
Instead of the settings shown in the article for Trash, you may want to turn ON Move deleted messages to the Trash, but in that case you should turn OFF Store deleted messages on the server.
AOL doesn’t let IMAP clients such as Mail to create or manage mailboxes at the root level of the account directory, only as subfolders of Saved — that’s why you must turn OFF Store messages on the server for all the mailboxes in Preferences > Accounts > Mailbox Behaviors, so that they are stored locally instead.
You may also want to read the more general guide the above article is part of (which is also somewhat outdated, but still useful to understand how AOL’s IMAP access works):
Accessing the AOL Mail System using IMAP - An Unofficial Guide
Note in particular that AOL automatically purges your mail from Inbox after some time. There is nothing you can do about it other than moving/copying your messages somewhere else to avoid losing them. You can create custom local “On My Mac” mailboxes in Mail, for example, and move/copy your mail there manually or set up rules to do it automatically.

  • Accessing my yahoo.co.jp email account... little help?

Ok, so I'm having some difficulties setting up my yahoo.co.jp email account on my Aust delivered iPhone. Absolutely no issues with using my yahoo.com.au account...
SSL is turned on for both incoming and outgoing mail.
Incoming mail is "pop.mail.yahoo.co.jp" Incoming server port is 995
Outgoing mail host "smtp.mail.yahoo.co.jp". Outgoing server port 465 (previously tried 587). Optus server is off.
Password authentication is required on both incoming and outgoing mail. User name and password are correct, natch.
"Cannot get mail: The user name or password for "pop.mail.yahoo.co.jp" is incorrect."
If someone could help I'd be really grateful.
