ASR1002 WCCP L2 Forwarding Redirection setup

Hi WCCP experts,
Two questions please.
According to
IP Application Services Configuration Guide, Cisco IOS XE Release 3S (Cisco ASR 1000).
• The following limitation applies to WCCP Layer 2 Forwarding and Return feature:
Layer 2 redirection requires that content engines be directly connected to an interface on each WCCP router.
Q1. Will it work if there is a L2 switch between the WCCP router and conte engines?
Right now we have the WCCP ASR1002 router connected to a L2 switch trunk port. One of the sub-interfaces will be used for the connection to content engines.
. For content engines running Application and Content Networking System (ACNS) software, use the wccp
custom-web-cache command with the l2-redirect keyword to configure L2 redirection. For content
engines running Cisco Wide Area Application Services (WAAS) software, use the wccp tcp-promiscuous
command with the l2-redirect keyword to configure L2 redirection.
Q2. I have Blue Coat as content engines. What configuration commands ASR1002 should have for L2 redirection?
Thanks
Cedar

Hi Cedar,
If i am not wrong the directly connected actually means that ASR and CE or in your case Blue coat proxy should be in the same subnet. If they are in the same subnet then of course you can use switch in between.

Have a look at the link above and look at L2 redirection and return.
Wccp customer-web-cache etc are all services and you can use any one or custom numbers as your network requirment. You can use 90 or web-cache which is for port 80 or 61, 62 etc.
You can see the list of well known service groups.

  • WCCP V2 Question (Redirect https)

    Hello all
    I have been successful in implementing wccp in my multiple vlan environment.
    Router is Cisco 2921
    G0/0 - Internet
    G0/1 - Squid Proxy
    G0/2 - Clients in multiple vlans
    Here is the config:
    ip wccp web-cache redirect-list 120
    interface GigabitEthernet0/2.1
    encapsulation dot1Q 3
    ip address 172.16.1.1 255.255.255.0
    ip wccp web-cache redirect in
    ip nat inside
    interface GigabitEthernet0/2.2

    ip address 172.16.2.1 255.255.255.0
    ip wccp web-cache redirect in
    ip nat inside
    interface GigabitEthernet0/2.3
    encapsulation dot1Q 3
    ip address 172.16.3.1 255.255.255.0
    ip wccp web-cache redirect in
    ip nat inside
    access-list 120 remark REDIRECTION_CRITERIA
    access-list 120 deny   ip host 192.168.1.2 any

    access-list 120 permit tcp 172.16.3.0 0.0.0.255 any eq www
    access-list 120 deny   ip any any
    I have some questions:
    1) In the command "ip wccp web-cache redirect-list 120", "redirect-list 120" is not required since all vlans are clients.
    using  ip wccp web-cache redirect in under all subinterfaces alone would work.
    Am I correct ?
    2) How can I redirect HTTPS traffic to my squid proxy.

    Hello,
    1. "ip wccp web-cache redirect in"
    It would work if you squid proxy have another default gateway to internet.
    Otherwise the traffic from the SQUID is also forwarded. You have to use different interfaces for users and squid. On sabinterfeyse vlan SQUID you should not use a configuration wccp
    2. Web-cache permit only http. You must configuring Dynamic WCCP.
    some example:
    in global:
    ip wccp 120 redirect-list 120
    access-list 120 remark REDIRECTION_CRITERIA
    access-list 120 deny   ip host 192.168.1.2 any

  • QSIG Forwarding/Redirect Problem

    Hi,
    I have a call-forwarding/QSIG question. We have a CMM gateway with a QSIG PRI connection to our Avaya G3r PBX. If IP phone 66965 dials Avaya phone 77926 the call goes across the QSIG link. If 77926 does not answer, it correctly covers to the PBX's Intuity voicemail system (mailbox 77926).
    Now if IP phone 66960 is "CFwdAll" to 77926 and IP phone 66965 calls 66960, the call correctly forwards across the QSIG link and Avaya phone 77926 rings. Yet in this case if 77926 does not answer the call covers to the PBX's Intuity system, yet the Intuity tries to send the call to the originally dialed number mailbox (66960) rather than the forwarded/redirected mailbox (77926). However this (PBX) Intuity does not have a voicemailbox for 66960 (IP phone).
    Any ideas how this can be corrected?
    Thanks! Rob.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply. I am running CallManager 4.1(3)ES62, so I assume the bug(s) you mentioned are fixed in my version (listed as fixed in 4.1(3)ES54).
    I have tried that field - both checked and unchecked. When checked it definitely adds that info (see debug isdn q931 output, below), however the results are the same.

    The interesting part is in both cases the originally dialed number (redirecting number) is included in the facility message. If you look at the end of the facility message: 636393630 the number (66960) is included (separated by "3"'s). This is indeed the number - I've tried changing 66960 to another number and this field changes accordingly. It almost seems that if I could block this facility message I could get the behavior I desire.
    Thanks - Rob.

  • Missing Embedded Images on Reply/Forward/Redirect

    I found a bug with the new Safari beta that when installed (on either an Intel or PPC machine), when you get a embedded image in your email, and you want to reply/forward/redirect that message, the image(s) will not display, and a blue "lego" icon will be shown.
    The fix is to uninstall the Safari beta, and it will fix the problem with Mail.
    -robert.

    I have exactly the same problem but without using a server.
    When I *copy & paste* an image in Keynote I often just *get a place holder with a big question mark*. When this happens I have no chance to copy it. This behaviour is then reproducible.
    The same thing happens when drag & dropping a slide to another presentation. All pictures get a question mark! I did not find a work around yet.
    Please help!

  • WCCP src group & redirect/return method

    Has anyone here implemented 3rd party WAN optimization such as Bluecoat or Riverbed w/ WCCP?
    What service groups and redirect/return methods did you use, and on which Cisco switch/router platforms?
    I'd like to know what works, and what doesn't...
    It looks like you generally use service group 61 & 62 to redirect all TCP traffic to WAAS, based on source/destination IP's.
    Do those two service groups also work w/ 3rd party devices?
    If they don't, do I just pick some random service groups, other than the well known ones?
    How would the switch/router know what traffic to redirect, if no redirect-list is used?
    The Networkers' wccp presentation slides say if GRE is to be used w/ 6500's, generic GRE needs to be used instead of WCCP GRE.
    Where would you configure what type of GRE is used, within WAAS?
    Does anyone know if such setting exists on 3rd party devices?
    Our Bluecoat SE isn't even aware of two different versions of GRE, and neither was I, before I watched the Networkers session.

    Hi,
    I know with Riverbed you can use wccp 61/62 as well. I don't have experience with other vendors though.
    The router knows what to redirect based on the WCCP service number. It can be a well-known service or a custom service where you define what to redirect directly on the optimizer/web-cache device. The redirect list is only used to further limit what is redirected.
    In h/w forwarding platform WCCP GRE is handled in s/w, this is why using generic GRE is suggested. On WAAS you can configure it using "egress-method generic-gre intercept-method wccp"
    For more details check the "Egress Method" section in the following doc:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps708/white_paper_c11-629052.html
    Here you have WCCP redirection method supported and suggested for different Cisco platforms:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/contnetw/ps5680/ps6870/white_paper_c11-608042.html
    hope this helps,

  • Can anyone tell me how to port forward and setup an XBOX 360 using my Time Capsule??

    Xbox 360
    When playing the game online, the minimum speed of your network should be 128kbps. The ideal network speed for playing the game online is 768kbps. If you are having a problems with lag check the following:
    Network Troubleshooting:
    Disable any firewall or security features on your router.
    Set port forwarding on your router to the IP address of your Xbox 360. This game uses port 3074 (UDP/TCP). Additionally Xbox LIVE requires ports 80, 53 TCP and 88, 53 UDP.
    Place your Xbox 360 into the DMZ of your router.
    Disconnect your router and try the game. If it works regularly at this point something about your router may not be completely compatible with the specific needs of this game. Check with your router manufacturer and Microsoft's Xbox Live Connection Issues page for additional steps that may need to be done to resolve the issue you are having. You can also verify that you have an Xbox Live compatible router.
    If you are having issues connecting while multiple Xbox 360 consoles are connected on the same network, try forwarding port 3074 (UDP/TCP) for one Xbox 360 and setting the other as DMZ. There is a chance that this may not resolve you issue,  if it doesn’t then you may want to consider getting an additional public IP address by contacting your Internet Service Provider and assigning it to one of these two consoles.
    NOTE: If setting port forwarding or DMZ helps your connection issue, you may want to assign your Xbox 360 a static IP address within your home network. This can help to ensure that the configurations you made do not need to be done again. You can visit PortForward's Static IP Guide for a detailed guide on how to do this.
    NOTE: Many broadband internet modems are coming with routing capabilities built in. Please contact your internet service provider to determine if your internet modem has an integrated router. If it does, they should be able to assist you with the steps above for setting up your router.
    Once you have verified that your network setup is not the cause of the issue, try the following:
    Try connecting to a different server. Some servers may have other players connected to them that you do not have an optimal connection with. In most games this is accomplished by backing out to the main menu and then selecting multiplayer again. From there you can try connecting to another online game.
    Run the Xbox Network Self Test to see how strong your NAT is currently set to. Once the test is completed you will be notified if there is an issue with your connection. If you select "More Info" you will be given information about your NAT type and some steps to resolve any issues with your connection.
    Moderate and Strict NAT types may have issues connecting to online matches. You may get the error "Notice - The game session is no longer available." If you do then enabling UPnP, forwarding port 3074, or placing your Xbox in your router's DMZ may resolve this issue. Please consult your router documentation for instructions on how to do this.

    Whoa....this just went way over my head.... I already have 6.1 installed for my Airport Utility.
    Read again what I wrote.. 6.1 is the problem.. or part of it.
    You need to install the earlier 5.6 version which I have given you explicit instructions to do.
    I have done something now and can not connect the XBOX at all now....unless you can provide me step by step directions I may have to call Apple Support.
    This will happen over and over.. just press reset and start again.. you need to learn how to do the setup and using 5.6 utility will help you.. as will using ethernet from the computer to the TC.. trying to fix things over wireless is like sitting on a tree branch you are sawing off. As soon as you update you will fall to the ground.
    I am not that sure that Apple Support will have any idea.
    Do a google search .. you will find most people struggle with this.. Microsoft made the xbox to use upnp with vista specs.. if you use a router without upnp, ie any apple router.. you will have issues.
    Have a go at bypassing the problem.. I have no idea if this will work.. I do not use a TC as the main router because much of my network including xbox and ps3 is just a pain.. I use a modem router with upnp. And bridge the TC.. that is the setup I would recommend.
    Try this.. once you have installed 5.6 utility.
    Get the IP of the XBox and click enable default host.. and put the IP address in there.. this is called DMZ.. all unassigned packets are forwarded to this ip address.. it is like a port forwarding for all ports.
    See if it helps.. If it does you will need to lock the xbox address so it doesn't change.. we can get to that.
    Tell me what kind of broadband you have and what modem router first.. none of this will work if you have double NAT.

  • WRT54G2 redirects setup page to external website

    I have a few WRT54G2 units that I am attempting to administer remotely.  When I try to access the setup page I get as far as the authentication popup and then I get redirected to:
    http://websearch.linksys.com/error_redirect_site/get_error_redirect?eg=0&job=natipaddress
    A little background:  These units are all using indentical configurations and use the same IPs.  They are all setup in a DMZ in each remote site as Wireless Aceess Points and the necessary NAT policies are in place to allow setup access from my location.  I have many WRT54G units deployed in this same manner and have no problems.  If I am connected directly I do not see this issue.
    Anyone have any ideas how to get around this?

    Remote management is for allowing connections from the WAN port.  I have the NAT policies connecting through to the LAN so remote management doesn't apply.  Basically each site has it's own firewall (Sonicwall) and it's DMZ port is connected to one of the WRT54G2's LAN port.  The WRT54G2's WAN port is vacant.  The Sonicwall handles DHCP for the DMZ so all the WRT54G2 does is act as an wireless access point.  It does work fine with the WRT54G but we had a couple fail and we replaced them with these newer models which work in every every other way but this.

  • Forwarding/Redirecting throws java.io.FileNotFoundException but file exists

    http://www.mydomain.com/common/handler.jsp:
    <jsp:forward page="/common/error_page.jsp" />This throws a java.io.FileNotFoundException:
    java.io.FileNotFoundException: resource not found: /common/error_page.jspHowever, I can go to http://www.mydomain.com/common/error_page.jsp and verify that it does indeed exist.
    Why would it throw a FileNotFoundException if not only does the forwarding page exist but exists within the exact same web module?
    I checked ibm-web-ext.xml for the "common" web module to notice that fileServingEnabled="true".
    Any ideas why this is happening?

    A forward is relative to the context root - not the server's root.
    So assuming you have a web application called "common", and "common" is its context name, then "/" would already refer to http://www.mydomain.com/common/
    Thus your forward should just be to "/handler.jsp"
    A redirect is slightly different, because it is resolved on the client, not the server.
    So if you had a web context "myContext"
    You access it with http://www.mydomain.com/myContext
    <jsp:forward page="/mypage.jsp"> (or getRequestDispatcher("/mypage.jsp")) would refer you to http://www.mydomain.com/myContext/mypage.jsp.
    to achieve the same destination with a redirect you would have to have
    response.sendRedirect("/myContext/mypage.jsp");

    Hi All
          I'm sure I'm missing something simple here on a new install and I hope some one can point it out easily.  I implemented the following config which worked except it understandably broke connections as everything got redirected.  I'm running the WCCP config on a 6500 running 12.2(18) SXF
    This config showed total redirected packets climbing sharply in a 'show ip wccp' on the 6500 but this config broke other things.
    WAE:
    interface GigabitEthernet 1/0
    ip address 10.254.0.251 255.255.255.248
    ip default-gateway 10.254.0.249
    wccp router-list 1 10.254.0.249
    wccp tcp-promiscuous router-list-num 1 l2-redirect mask-assign
    6500:
    ip wccp 61
    ip wccp 62
    interface Vlan<vlans to be accelerated>
    description Local VLAN to be accelerated
    ip wccp 61 redirect in
    interface Vlan <WAAS vlan>
    description WAAS Devices(CM and WAE)
    ip address 10.254.0.249 255.255.255.248
    interface Vlan <Vlan for WAN transit>
    description Incoming WAN VLAN
    ip wccp 62 redirect in
    To try and limit redirection to just LAN space I swapped this:
    ip wccp 61
    ip wccp 62
    for this:

    Ip wccp 61 redirect-list WAAS_Outbound
    Once I did this, 'show ip wccp'  on the 6500 stopped showing redirected packets but did start showing packets being denied redirect.  Optimization stopped(according to the GUI) and I saw no hits on the access-lists(should I?).
    Thanks for your help in advance.

    A fews questions/comments:
    What type of Supervisor are you using?
    What is the exact version of software you are using?
    The fact that the 'packets redirected' counter is incrementing is a bad thing on the 6500.  It means that the redirection is happening in software.
    Can you also provide the output from the following commands:
    sh ip wccp
    sh ip wccp 61 det
    sh ip wccp 62 det
    Thanks,
    Zach

  • How do you create a rule to forward/redirect emails to another account (eg: gmail) BUT, I DO NOT want emails to then appear in Mac Mail inbox?

    I cannot close down my primary email account as it's attached to my current modem.
    So it will have to remain open BUT I don't any emails going to this address.
    I have created a gmail account and want any emails redirected to this account but wanted to ensure they don't also appear in the original Mac Mail Inbox.
    Any suggestions?

    Changing the password as you describe only changes the password that your Mac sends to the mail server(s), not the password that the mail server(s) expect(s).
    If the email account is "attached to [your] modem," it is supplied by your ISP (Internet Service Provider), and you must change the expected password through your ISP. Depending on your ISP, this may involve calling them on the phone, visiting a web site, or even using a special app. It may also require proof of your right to administer your email account.
    After you have changed what your ISP's mail server(s) expect(s), you will need to change the password(s) your system sends in Account Information (for receiving) and Edit SMTP server list (for sending).

  • Java sockets forwarding (redirect)

    Dear all
    I’m try to write a java sockets program which will accept VNC connection and forward it to another pc that has VNC server installed.
    That is: a client use vnc viewer connect to a JavaServer(where the sockets program run), the JavaServer accept this connection and forward it to the VNC server
    The reason doing this is because the client can only connect to the JavaServer, and the JavaServer has the ability to connect any host.
    I can manage to initiate the connection, and give the password that the VNC server request with the following code, but after this just before the viewer start to show the remote desktop, the sockets stuck on reading.
    can anyone help me out please.
    public void listen() throws Exception
    ServerSocket server=new ServerSocket(443, 5);
    System.out.println("Start Listen ...");
    while(true)
    Socket serverCon=server.accept();
    System.out.println("get Connection from: "+serverCon.getInetAddress());
    InputStream serverIn=serverCon.getInputStream();
    OutputStream serverOut=serverCon.getOutputStream();
    Socket targetCon=new Socket("192.168.1.3", 5900);
    InputStream targetIn=targetCon.getInputStream();
    OutputStream targetOut=targetCon.getOutputStream();
    byte[] buf=new byte[10240];
    int len;
    while(true)
    len=targetIn.read(buf);
    System.out.println(len);
    serverOut.write(buf, 0, len);
    len=serverIn.read(buf);
    System.out.println(len);
    targetOut.write(buf, 0, len);
    }

    Hi EJP
    Thanks for your reply,
    I did try to use threads with pipeStream,

    since it cannot even initiate connect between two side,
    the following is the sample code I use, which I leaned from here http://home.tiscali.nl/bmc88/java/sbook/029.html
    I can't found any more info regard to this topic on the internet, can you give me a hint.
    thanks a lot.

  • To get list of mailboxes who have forwarding rules setup

    Hi ALL,
         I have exchange 2010. is it possible to get list of users who have mail forwarding rules set to external email addresses(like gmail.com or yahoo.com)
    TIA

    I started with your single user line and ended up with the following to get the rules for everyone including their name:
    foreach ($usr in Get-ADUser -Filter ({enabled -eq $true -and mail -like "*"}) -Properties mail) { Get-InboxRule -Mailbox $usr.mail | select $usr.name, name, description | fl }
    I put the output into a file which looks like:
    <person's name>:
    Name             : Fowarding all emails
    Description      : If the message:
                           the message has an attachment
                           and the message is Meeting Request.
                           and my name is in the Cc box
                           and my name is in the To box
                           and my name is in the To or Cc box
                           and my name is not in the To box
                           and the message was sent only to me.
                       Take the following actions:
                           forward the message to '@ymail.com'

  • Port Forwarding (Redirection)

    Hello,
    I have a question and need some guidance.
    I have a Cisco ASA 5555-X, ASA Version 9.2(2)4 with ASDM Version 7.3(1)101.
    We have SMTP on port 25 (I know..not secure...unfortunately we don't control it)
    In order to deter spamming, port 25 is blocked and managed by Access Rules in our ASA.
    We have allowed servers to use SMTP for alerting features so we have some gear already configured and allowed to use SMTP port 25.
    I have been asked to allow a handful of desktops to send email out - yes, send only.
    I do not want to allow any desktop to use SMTP port 25.
    Here is my question..finally...
    Let's say my SMTP is 10.90.2.30
    My desktop is 10.0.0.111
    Can I set my desktop application SMTP settings to use port 465, then have the ASA redirect the port 465 coming from 10.0.0.111 to port 25 on 10.90.2.30?
    Can this be done?
    If so, can someone share how this would look configured using ASDM?
    Thank you in advance!

    I read an article on "Converting your $60 router into a $600 router."  I realize that Linksys would not condone or support this.  However, if I were to perform this firmware upgrade, would the router then support what I am trying to accomplish?
