Assesment and Distribution cycles

Is there any configuration required for assesment and distribution cycle ?

HI,
the cycle definition itself needs to be done.
In SAP standard this is a customizing transaction (transport request,...) but it can be set as "current setting" thus you can make your cycle definition only in prod. client.

    U want to make correction posting in Co module u will use periodic posting. For example in a document u have wrongly entered Cost center and u want to make correction u will use periodic posting.
    Distribution is totally different from periodic reposting: Here u move values from one cost center to one or more cost center by cycles.Say from service cost center to production cost center.</b>

        Can any one tell me, what is the exact difference between Assesment and Distribution. only primary costs can be transffered through Distribution.Primary and secondary cost elements can be transferred through Assesment. Then why distribution.

    Hi,
    Assessment is one of the method used in automatic planning of secondary costs in cost center accounting. This method is used to allocate cost from one cost center to another cost centre.The original costs , even if they are primary, from the cost centers are regrouped and reclassified as secondary while allocating the same to other cost center. For e.g.. fax expenses , postage are collecting primary costs into a cost center called xxxx, now group these assets for assessment using a secondary cost element to receiver cost centers YYYY& ZZZZZ.
    There is a need to define assessment rule for effecting assessment.
    Distribution helps in planning primary costs from one cost center to another.The cost center from where the cost is distributed is called sender and the other cost center to which the cost is distributed is called receiver.Only planned and actual cost can be distributed.

    We are yet to carry forward the GL account balances (both balance sheet and PL) from 2008 to 2009 in FI module.
    Can we run the assessment and the distribution cycles for the month of January without carrying the GL account balances to 2009? OR do we need to carry the GL account balances first to run the two cycles

    It's not a good idea to run distibution and assessment before carrying forward GL balances. You can check the documentation in help.sap.com. Please check note 110249. This note gives you additional advantage in balance carry forward and distribution. For FI-SL, EC-PCA and FI-GL, the same balance carry forward program is used.

  • Actual Assessment and distribution cycles

    Hi Guys:
                       I have gone through planning assessment cycles , their execution and activity rate calculation. Now i want to do actual cycles. I am confused about the starting point of actual cycles. I understand that service cost centers are the one which need to be apportioned to the receiving cost center. Service cost centers like Electricity have posting in them through FI and their accumulated cost needs to be apportioned to production cost center through actual run.For actual cycles to be executed what should be the starting point. Like in planning i started from KP06,did KSU7 and KSUB, then moved to KP26,did KSS4 and finally KSPI. This planned activity rate is supposed to be used in computing actual activity cost when actual quantities are confirmed from PP. Please guide me through the process.

  • Distribution and Assessment Cycle

    Hi,
    I am trying to create assessment and distribution cycle in production client. But system is giving me an message that system is not modifiable. The transaction code is S_ALR_87005742 - Define Assessment  and S_ALR_87005757 - Define Distribution. Is this a configuration activity?

    Hi,
    Be default, you cannot modify allocation cycles in produtction environment as the settings demand a change request (transport) to be open. However, this could be changed. Please, implement note 326080 for that.

    DISTRIBUTION =========== Distribution was created for transfer primary costs from a sender cost center to receiving controlling objects. During distribution, only cost centers or business process can be used as sender. A distribution receiver can be a cost center, WBS element, internal order, cost object, or a business process. You can restrict the number of receiver categories in customizing. Primary Postings (such as, energy costs) are collected on a cost center, and allocated at the end of the period by means of the user-defined key. You can only distribute primary costs. During this process, the original cost element remains the same. Line items are posted for the sender as well as for the receiver, enabling the allocation to be recorded exactly. You can reverse distributions as often as required. You use the Cycle-Segment method to define sender-receiver relationships. PERIODIC REPOSTING ================= Differences between periodic reposting and distribution are due to information content and performance. For periodic reposting, no separate credit record is written on the sender for the cost element in the summary report. Instead, the totals record for the cost element is reduced on the debit side, which means that the original debit amount can no longer be checked there (u201Cunclean creditu201D). However, during distribution, the system writes a totals record for the credit (u201Cclean creditu201D).     Hi,
    The main difference between Assessment cycle and Distribution cycle is - in case of Assessment we use secondary cost element.
    An example to highlight the difference is as under:
    Common Costs incurred for example for Factory Cafeteria are booked to Cost Center - Z using primary cost element 400100 (Amount $ 100). During period end closing the costs are be allocated to Cost Centers A, B and C in the ratio of 50%, 20% and 30% respectively.
    Distribution:
    Sender Rule: Posted Amounts
    Sender Cost Center - Z
    Sender Cost Element - 400100
    Receiver Cost Centers are A, B and C
    In Receiving Tracing factor - we specify the percentages for each cost center.
    When distribution cycle is executed. Cost Center Z will be credited by $ 100 and Cost Center A, B and C will be debited with $50, $20 and $30. All the postings will be made using the primary cost element 400100.
    Assessment:
    <b>Assessment Cost Element: 600100</b>.
    Sender Rule: Posted Amounts
    Sender Cost Center - Z
    Sender Cost Element - 400100
    Receiver Cost Centers are A, B and C
    In Receiving Tracing factor - we specify the percentages for each cost center.

    In Assessment all the postings will be made using Assessment Cost Element - which is secondary cost element.
    The advantage of Assessment is the original postings made to the primary cost element are retained.
    In this example, if we execute a report for Cost Center Z for Cost Element 400100, we can still display the values. If we execute the report for cost element 400100 and 600100 together, the value will be zero.

    in distribution the original primary costs are sent from the sender to the receiver. thus the original costs can be seen in the receiving cost centre.
    in assessment the primary costs are assigned to a secondary cost element in an Allocation structure and the secondary cost elements are seen in the receiving cost centre

    2. Assigning Sales Organization to Company Code
    This assignment ensures all the sales made through this Sales Organization are accounted for in the assigned Company Code (Company Code is created by FI Consultant).
    IMG -> Enterprise Structure -> Assignment -> Sales and Distribution -> Assign Sales Organziation to Company Code
    3. Maintaining Distribution Channel
    Distribution Channel is the way, in which Products or Services reach Customers.

    4. Assigning Distribution Channel to Sales Organization

Document Pricing Procedure is determined from Sales Document Type / Billing Type (if configured). Once the pricing procedure is determined, Condition records are fetched. If appropriate condition records are found, the price is determined. If Mandatory pricing condition is missing, system will through an error message.
    In SD, the steps to configure Pricing procedure are as under:

    Condition table: If existing condition table meets the requirement, we need not create a new condition table. Considering the requirement for new condition table, the configuration will be done in spro as follows: IMG --> Sales & Distribution --> Basic Function --> Pricing Control --> Condition Table (select the required fields combination, which will store condition record).
    Step 2:
    Access Sequence: If existing access sequence meets the requirement, we need not create a new access sequence. Considering the requirement for new sequence, the configuration will be done in spro as follows: IMG --> Sales & Distribution --> Basic Function --> Pricing Control --> Access Sequence (Access sequence is made up of Accesses (Tables) & the order of priority in which it is to be accessed. Here we assign the condition table to access sequence.
    Step 3:
    Condition Type: If existing condition type meets the requirement, we need not create a new condition type. Considering the requirement for new condition type, the configuration will be done in spro as follows: IMG --> Sales & Distribution --> Basic Function --> Pricing Control --> Condition Type. It is always recommended to copy an existing similar condition type & make the neccessary changes. Here we assign Access sequence to Condition type.
    Step 4:
    a. Pricing Procedure: It is recommended to copy a similar pricing procedure & make the neccesary changes in new pricing procedure. Pricing Procedure is a set of condition type & arranged in the sequence in which it has to perform the calculation. Considering the requirement for new Pricing Procedure, the configuration will be done in spro as follows: IMG --> Sales & Distribution --> Basic Function --> Pricing Control --> Pricing Procedure --> Maintain Pricing Procedure.
    b. Pricing Procedure: After maintaining the pricing procedure the next step will be determination of pricing procedure. Configuration for determining pricing procedure in SPRO is as follows: IMG --> Sales & Distribution --> Basic Function --> Pricing Control --> Pricing Procedure --> Determine Pricing Procedure.
    5. Condition record: Condition record is a master data, which is required to be maintained by Core team / person responsible from the client. During new implementation, the condition records can be uploaded using tools like SCAT, LSMW, etc.
    Normal Sales Order Cycle:-
    Step 1: Sales Document Type
    IMG > Sales and Distribution > Sales > Sales Documents >
    Sales Document Header:
    1. Sales Document Type:The sales document types represent the different business transactions, such as Inquiry, Quotation, Sales Order, etc. To create new sales order type, always copy as with reference to similar sales order. If possible use standard sales order.
    2. Define Number Ranges For Sales Documents: Maintain number range with discussion with core team.
    3. Assign Sales Area To Sales Document Types:
    A. Combine sales organizations / Combine distribution channels / Combine divisions: Ensure to maintain these, else Sales Order creation will give error.
    B. Assign sales order types permitted for sales areas: Assign only required Sales Order Types to required Sales Area. This will minimize selection of Sales Order Type as per sales area.
    Sales Document Item:
    1. Define Item Categories: If possible use Standard Item Category. Incase if required to create new, copy as from standard & maintain New.
    2. Assign Item Categories: If possible, use standard. Formula for deriving item category: Sales Document Type + Item Category Group + Usage + Higher Level Item Category = Item Category
    Schedule Line:
    1. Define Schedule Line Categories: If possible use Standard Schedule Lines. Incase if required to create new, copy as from standard & maintain New.
    2. Assign Schedule Line Categories: If possible, use standard. Formula for deriving Schedule Line: Item Category + MRP Type / No MRP Type.
    Step 2:
    IMG > Logistic Execution > Shipping > Deliveries >
    1. Define Delivery Types: If possible use Standard Delivery Type. Incase if required to create new, copy as from standard & maintain New.
    2. Define Item Categories for Deliveries: If possible use Standard Item Categories for Delivery Type. Incase if required to create new, copy as from standard & maintain New.
    3. Define Number Ranges for Deliveries: Ensure to maintain number range.
    Step 3:
    IMG > Sales and Distribution > Billing >
    1. Define Billing Types: If possible use Standard Billing Type. Incase if required to create new, copy as from standard & maintain New.
    2. Define Number Range For Billing Documents: Ensure to maintain number range.
    3. Maintain Copying Control For Billing Documents: Maintain relevant copy controls such as Sales Order to Billing, Deliver to Billing, etc.
    Note: Ensure that Copy Control settings are done
    Sales Order to Sales Order (QT --> OR): VTAA
    Sales Order to Delivery (OR --> LF): VTLA
    Sales Order to Billing (OR --> F1): VTFA
    Delivery to Billing(LF --> F2): VTFL
    Billing to Sales Order (F2 --> RE): VTAF
    The configuration differs from scenario to scenario & requirement of the client.

    Hi Deshpande,
    The purpose of both are completely different.
    Assessment or Distribution cycles are used to transfer cost from the service/utility cost centers to the Production cost centers.
    Where as Costing sheet is a tool where you configure how system should calculate Production, Material ,Administration & Selling&Distribution in Product costing.

    When i am running the Distribution cycle Error
    start on reading date31.03.2009.only ended on the 31.05.2009

    If you are running this cycle before the start date in distribution cycle, then it is not possible because start date in not editable in KSV2. If you are running after date in cycle then end date can be extended in KSV2.

  • Unable to create the Distribution cycle with WBS Element as Receiver

    I am creating the Distribution cycle in KSV1, Sender is Cost center and Receiver is WBS element.
    Once i select Receiving tracing factor Tab i am getting the error like :
    Message :
    No valid receiver entries exist
    Message no. GA015
    Diagnosis
    You have established a group of receivers by entering either intervals or groups in the selection criteria. However, in the master data check, the SAP System cound not find any valid receivers in your selected group.
    System Response
    The single value entry screen is not shown.
    Procedure
    Check your entries for the selection criteria. It is possible that the master data is locked. You can get more info be choosing "Error log...".
    Please let me know how we need to create the Assesment cycle for WBS elements as receivers and Cost centre as Sender.
