Hi
where can i assign particular activity type to a cost center

Cost Center and Activity Types Relationship:
Normally Activities are assigned to Work Center.  In this Work Center u have to maticoned Cost Cetner at Costing Tab in Work Cetner.  So Here is the link with the Cost Center and the Activity
Previously mentioned In KP26 is the link, but it was on planning side only and it was not mandatory.

    Prakash,
    You may create an activity type by using the transaction KL01.
    This defines the activity. Now you have to have a rate (per hour) defined for this activity. Additionally you have to maintain the cost center which will bear the expenses of this activity.
    So ,
    (1)Use KL01 to create an activity type
    (2)Determine with your CO team which cost center(G/L Account) should be allocated ?
    (3)Determine with your CO team what the rate/hr should be for this activity type?
    (4)Use KP26 to assign the activity type to cost center and also assign the rate.

  • Assignment of Activity Types to Cost Centre

    hi,
      i am  creating a work centre and for costing purposes i need to give the activity type and the cost centre.
      even though i have defined an activity type and in it used an allocation cost element which in term is assigned to a cost centre,in the work centre when i search for the activity type the system shows an error.....No activity types assigned to cost center X, controlling area Y on 07.02.2007 where X and Y are variables ofcourse.
      what could be the possible reason?

    Hi shekhar,
    Check using KL02 or KL03 again, especially the validity dates of the activity type and may be the coster center KS02, KS03 as well.  I hope, that controlling area is fine.
    There must be some settings wrong, ...

    Are we maintaining the activity type somewhere in employee master or anywhere which is related to employee master.
    where,
    Activity type is the defined in SAP-Controlling module. This contains the per hour rate for internal work. e.g maintenance work.

  • Assignment of default activity type to individual person

    Hi All,
    I have following scenario.
    One maintenance order is created with one operation. Three persons are assigned to the same operation. All these three persons are having different per hour rate and so having different activity types.
    I have mentioned all these 3 activity types in assigned workcenter.
    But while executing in maintenance order I can assign only one activity type in operation tab and so the same is appearing during time confirmation as default.
    I need respective activity types to be appeared by default for each of persons. How can be achived this?

    As 3 different activity types are having 3 different per hour rate, it would better to define sub operations based on the activity type & assign the activity types separately for each sub operations.

  • Activity Type at cost center

    Hi All,
    Is Activity types are used only at production cost centers or u can use for any material use in general, i mean, Say i ahve 2 machinerys, i spend bearings and oil for repairs, i called this activity as antifriction. i issue bearings and oil towards this activty to machinery cost center. now i want a report like how much cost i spend on antifriction activity for machine 1 & 2. How should i map my cost ceners to get this report. Can any body tell me what exactly activty types used for?

    Activity types classify the activities produced in the cost centers within a controlling area. To plan and allocate the activities, the system records quantities that are measured in activity units. Activity quantities are valuated using a price (allocation price).
    In Overhead Cost Controlling, costs based on the activity type are posted separately in fixed and variable portions. When you divide the activities of a cost center into activity types, you should consider whether the costs can be allocated effectively to the activity types.
    You can plan, allocate, and control costs either at the activity type level of a cost center, or at the cost center level.
    You can also assign the activity type of a cost center directly example: deprecitation postings.
    You can assign one activity type, multiple activity types, or no activity types to a cost center.

    Hi,
    Activity types are used to calculate the Internal Labor cost based on the Planned hours & Actual hours. In the Maintenance Order, Planned labor hours for Internal Operation will be maintained in Operation tab.
    Activity Pricing will be done by FICO people in KP26, for the activity types against cost center. For example, there are electricians, mechanics & technicians.
    For those people, based on their salary (in case of permanant employee of the company) or hour basis (in case of contract employee), these pricing will be done.
    For Electricians, Per hour charge would be 10 INR.
    For Mechanics, per hour charge would be 8 INR.
    Work centers would have been created for these people. In the costing tab of work center, activity types & cost centers will be assigned. For these activity types & cost center combination, pricing will be done in KP26.
    In Maintenance Order, based on operation type, work centers will be assigned.
    For Example
    In the order, first operation will be done by Mechanics. Second operation will be done by Electricians, again 3rd operation will be done by Maechanics.
    Based on that work center selection in operations, activity types will be assigned. For the activity type & cost center in work center, we have defined the price in KP 26 already.
    For first operation, work hour is 3 hrs. So planned cost would be 24 INR (3 hrs * 8 INR / hr)
    For second operation, work hour is 5, so planned  cost would be 50 INR.
    For 3rd operation, same calculation based on the hours in operation & cost.
    Once you do confirmation, actual cost will be calculated in the same way.

    You are attempting to assign activity type 10-140 to the work center. However, this activity type has not yet been set up in controlling area 1000 for cost center MPT080.
    Procedure
    Assign an activity type set up for cost center MPT080 to the work center or
    assign the desired activity type to cost center MPT080 within cost center accounting.

    for allocation structure you have to co-ordinate with your FI/CO team,
    goto General Order Settlement -
    > Maintain Allocation Structures ---> Creat New Entries for allocation structure define PM-Allocation structure for PM than select and goto assignment ....  then define assignment for example, external procurement, internal material, labor etc etc and select one of them goto source define cost element for that from here you have to co-ordinate with your FI/Co team and your problem will be solved ( define source than settlement cost elements etc)
    Activity types we use for work center (Internal labor costing), In activity types we can assign the rates and so on with the help of FI/CO, HR and than assign the activity type in the work centers ......

    if you want to have the activity transfered to HR, you have to activate this Controlling object for pers. cost assignment in your
    customizing:
    - Personnel Time Management
      - Time Data Recording and Administration
        - Integrating Time Management with Other R/3 Applications
          - Recording Personnel Costs
            - Enter Controlling objs permitted for pers. cost assignment

    'In this step, you specify which Cost Allocation or Funds Management  objects the personnel costs can be assigned to.
      and, in addition, for account assignment to activity type:
      COBL-LSTAR Activity type
       In cac1 'cost accounting variant' is set to 'Assignment of personnel costs to master cost center'. In this case, the cost center is not transferred to HR. Activity allocation is done directly from cats through the other (non-hr) components. Check for 'activity allocation' in the online documentation.
    the cost assignment variant 'B' (Assignment of personal costs to sender) needs a receiving accounting object.
    If there is no receiving object the cost assignment variant changes to '0'.

    Auto generation / manual gen of QM order depends on which order type u use. If u want automatic generation of QM Order then u go for Individual QM order with order type QL02 where one Insp lot assigend to order. For auto generation of QM order, u need to activate Individual QM order in the material master which craetes order based on the material & Insp type. u hv to define ur order in Spro>Qm>Quality inspection --> Maintain Inspection type. for each inspection type.
    To create Individaul QM order, cost center to be specified in P.O else general QM order assigns instead.Moreover u need to define activty type and assign the activity type & cost center  to ur QM work center.

  • Activity type in workcenter

    I have created the activity type and assigned it to work center. While saving it is showing the following error
    Error: "You are attempting to assign the activity type to the workcenter, However this activity type is not been set up in controlling area for the cost center"

    Try with this T codes.
    KS01,KS02 - Create & Change Cost centre Respectively.
    KL01,KL02 - Create & Change Activity Type.
    KP26 - Activity Output/Prices.
    In CR01 while creating a work centre,you will be assigning a cost centre and activity types defined & valid for that cost centre.
    Hope it will solve your issue.

    Dear ,
    To create new Activity Type  , you need to follow the below steps :
    KA01 - Create Primary Cost Element for the new activities type.
    KL01 - Create Activity Type tied to the primary cost element. 
    KP26 - Change Activity Type/Activity Price Planning - maintain the Variable price
    Assign the activity type to cost center using T code KP26.
    In the input screen of T code KP26 ,enter version as 0, from period 1 and to period as 12 and the Fiscal Year as 20xx.
    Click on Overview tab on top and key in costing details in this screen.
    After performing this ,while creating the work center ,this combination of activity type & cost center should be assigned.
    At work centre level , you should have
    1.Create Standrad Value Key -OP19 and Formula Key in OP49.
    2.Create Formula Parameters in OP7B or u can use existing one to assing in the Standard Value Key
    3.In CR02-Assing the Standard value key in Basic Data  and select the Formula Key in Costing tab with cost centre assingement .Save

    Thanks for the quick reply, I have checked the settings suggested by you, and both the settings are in place,
    1. I have assigned the secondary cost element in (Assignment Cost component - cost element with category 43, the same being assigned in Activity type also)
    2. My scenario is Repetitive manufacturing so i have assigned in Qty structure control - routing selection 02 (rate routing).
    Please suggest.

    I have creat activity type & assign this activity type to work center in "ActTypeProc." IN KP26 , i maintain activity price & all other things but when i maintain this activity type &  work center in WBS for respective internal activity system not shown me plan cost as well as when i confirm the activity system not shown me actual cost also. Pl gave some input on this

    Hi nivruti,
    check ur work center whether u have put formula sap008 in other formula in capacity tab page. in schedulling tab page formula sap004 . check whether in costing tab page ur entries are correct regarding activity type and cost center.
    In activity type put * in cctr catagory , activity type catagory 1, give secondary cost element (this can b a reason of ur problem) in allocation cost element.
    Apart from this also check costing variant whether actual and planned has been maintained properly or not.
