Assistance with setting up labview hardware

We are trying to connect a NI cRIO-9025 controller to our desktop computer. When we open MAX, it recognizes the controller, but we are unable to install LabVIEW Real Time on the controller. I have attached screenshots of our MAX program setup. Any thoughts?

When you can find your controller in MAX but you get an error during software installation, it is almost always related to a subnet mismatch between your target and controller ethernet ports. I would check the console output of the controller to check the IP configuration.
Since you appear to be connecting link local with your desktop system, you may want to test the IP reset on the controller as well. Enabling the IP reset on the controller will set the ethernet port to attempt an automatic assignment from a DHCP service on the network when the system restarts. If it cannot be assigned an address (and it should not if you are connecting directly to your target and have no router) it will default to a link local 169.254.x.x address, which, is what we want!
Here is a couple of related documentation that I think you will find useful for troubleshooting connection problems with CompactRIO's.

  • Can not get example to work after following instructions given in "Getting Started with the NI LabVIEW C Generator" guide

We explored using sbRIO for our project, for different reasons we ended up going with a different embedded solution . We are currently evaluating the LabVIEW C Generator to convert some of the core analysis routines from LabVIEW to C so the team that will be creating the embedded solution don't have to re-implement them from scratch.
Before converting our code, I followed the instructions given in the "Getting Started with the NI LabVIEW C Generator" manual to create a static library created inCygwin using GNU Compiler Collection (GCC).
I managed to compile the code, but when I type "run GCD.exe" in the Cygwin console, I just see the window flash with no time to see if the result is correct or not. I modified the main.c cde to add a getchar(), but the window still just flashes and now I am left with the GCD process still running and have to kill it using Windows Task Manager.
Has anyone else got this example to run? I am sure I am missing an obvious setting or step, please help me.

    Hi Kevin,
I hope you had a good Thanksgiving. I am attaching a zip file with the LabVIEW project, my build specification and my version of "Greatest Common Divisor.vi", which should be the same as the one that you have that ships with the LabVIEW C Generator, but just in case. I am also attaching a zip file with the C files generated by the LabVIEW C Generator.
You can also see the video I posted earlier with the steps I followed. I hope you are able to point out where I went wrong.

  • Instrument I/O Assistant with PXIe-1062Q

    Hello,
I'm using a PXIe-1062Q with LabVIEW 2009 installed on it. In the Measurement & Automation Explorer the chassis is visible, as well as the two PXIe-6363 cards I built in. Even th self test of the 6363 works without any failures.
My Problem is, that after if I insert an Instrument I/O Assistant 1.01 in LabVIEW, and click on Select an instrument, the two PXIe-6363 don't appear in the list. Only Com1 and LTP1 is listed.
What shall I do? Thank you very much for your support!

  • Need help with setting up a new iMac

I tried to use Migration Assistant to set up my new iMac. I transferred data from PPB G5 10.5.8 but MA hung at "less than one min. remaining" so I closed the window. Is there any way to erase what has been transferred and start over again with transferring from G5 to iMac? Can I partition the iMac disk to put Boot Camp on one disk so I can use my WIndows applications?

Personally I would just try to Migrate the data again, if it hangs just leave it to it, its more than likely trying to work out where to put the files or even might be re-writting bits of data to move your files from the older OS to the newer OS, given that the file structures are bound to be slightly different. Give it a chance and see how it goes.
As for boot camp as fas as I know it comes with it installed so I don't see any reason you couln't install windows on the iMac, why you would want to it another matter.

  • Please note that i am seeking some assistance with adding the followng resource: A maximum of 4 resources can be added at an additional cost of $500 per day per resource.

Hi, Please note that i am seeking some assistance with adding the following resource to a task in Microsoft Project 2010:
A maximum of 4 resources can be added at an additional cost of $500 per day per resource.

    Hi Clemence,
Your post has quite little details, but as far as I understand, you want to add 4 resources on a task, each resource costing 500$ a day. Since it is not mentionned if it is generic resources (skill or role) or named resources, I'll assume that it is generic
resources. Based on this understanding, here is a proposal:
    Go to the resource sheet,
Create a work generic resource ("type" field set to "work", "generic" field to "yes"), typing in the resource name field the skill name,
In the max unit field, enter 400% for 4 resources (for just 4 if  your Project 2010 is configured to display units in decimals),
Since the rate is an hourly rate, make the calculation : 500$ per day / 8 hours a day = 62,5$ per hour,
Go back to the Gantt Chart, split the window (click "detail" in the view tab of the ribbon),
Select your task and assign the newly created resource with a given % units.
    Hope this helps.

  • Need assistance with multiple issues with several G5's

    Hello All,
I need to get some assistance with some issues that I am having with several G5 Dual’s
I just started a new position and I have 4-G5 Dual’s that are in various states of disrepair. Normally I would call Apple support but they did not purchase the extended AppleCare packages for any of the G5’s theu purchased and they are ALL over a year old now. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
G5 number 1 - Has its fans running at full output all the time. Could this be a firmware issue?
G5 number 2 – Had it’s logic board replaced by one of our company computer techs and now at start up gives a long tone then boots to white screen with a command prompt. Requiring me to either type “mac-boot” or “shutdown”. If I continue the boot process the machine just goes to a gray screen and stalls. I researched this yesterday and tried several solutions I found here but to no avail. Seems to me that past of the issue is that it is stuck looking for a firmware upgrade. How do I get past it?
G5 number 3 – Mac seems to boot correctly but when you click on the Apple icon in the upper left hand corner the Finder blinks out and then comes back. It does this every time we try to go to the Apple menu. We removed the original hard drive and installed in a known good drive, our tech drive with a G5 image, rebooted the mac and the same issue occurs with the Finder.
G5 number 4 – This unit boots to black screen with a Unix command prompt displaying “root#”. Any thoughts.
    Thanks

Tell bossman it would be in his best interest for you to take them to a authorized Apple Repair and get it done with.
Tell him that Mac's rarley screw up hardware wise and there really hasn't been a great demand for skilled repair techs outside of Apple.
If your worried about your job, tell him you can take care of the software, training, minor hardware and networking end of the matter. Which, luckily for you, are longtern and ongoing needs. You can tell him that.
There's nothing wrong in admitting you don't know how to do something and keeping your job, than to be unable to fix them and lose your job.

Assistance with Regular Expression and Tcl
    Hello Everyone,
I recently began learning Tcl to develop scripts for automating network switch deployments.
In my script, I want to name the device with a location and the last three octets of the base mac address.
I can get the Base MAC address by :
    show version | include Base
Base ethernet MAC Address       : 00:00:00:DB:CE:00
And I can get the last three octets of the MAC address using the following regular expression.
    ([0-9a-f]{2}[:-]){2}([0-9a-f]{2}$)
But I have not been able to figure out how to call the regular expression in the tcl script.
I have checked several resources but have not been able to figure it out.  Suggestions?
Ultimately, I want to set the last three octets to a variable (something like below) and then call the variable when I name the switch.
set mac [exec "sh version | i Base"] (include the regular expression)
    ios_config "hostname location$mac"
Thanks for any assistance in advance.

  • How do I set up LabVIEW V6.1 to output analogue signals using a LabJack U12 interface card?

    Hi there,
I have a LabJack U12 interface card that has two analogue outputs, AO0 and AO1. What I would like to be able to do is set up LabVIEW V6.1 to eventually control the dimming of some external lights, from say a simple control on LabVIEW's front panel.
I will have some external circuitry connected to the interface card to perform the dimming of the lights, so all I will require is a variable voltage on the output of the card. I think the specification of the card is 0 to +5 volts for the two analogue outputs. I have tried looking on the website for LabJack (www.labjack.com) for any ideas, but with no success! Please find my LabVIEW file as an attachment.
I would be very grateful for any help on this matter,

    Hi Kurt,
Yes, I am able to run the same sequence by setting the LabVIEW Adapter to "Auto Detect" for run time.
After setting the it "Auto Detect", everything works well and now I can't even see the issue even after setting the Adapter to LabVIEW 12.0.1.
I tried this on two different systems where run time adapter setting of LabVIEW 12.0.1 was not working. And now it's working on both the systems.
Any thoughts about the root cause of this issue?

  • EPOS 50/5 with sensor GP1S53 & labview

hi, I would like to ask help about EPOS 50/5 with sensor GP1S53 & labview. I have motor controller program but i'm require to connect sensor through EPOS device. Operating sensor by using labview, my sensor was connected to Signal 1(J5/2, J5/9 & J5/10) of EPOS but  was unsure how use EPOS icons to detect the sensor.  Thnx!!

    Hi DSBlue,
Unfortunately we are not familiar with the EPOS hardware and library so I don't have the solution. However, there are 2 similar threads that I hope can help you.
How to detect a photomicrosensor in LabView directly?
    limit switch program for EPOS
Looks like it might not be possible to display the sensor data value, but you should be able to use your sensor as a limit switch for the motion control.
I would recommend approaching Maxon to see if they can help.

  • Problems with setting up network

    Hello,
I recently bought an AirPort Extreme, but have had difficutly setting the device up. I guess part (or most) of the difficutly is confusion on my part. When I plugged the router in, it showed up in AirPort Utility, so I double-clicked on it to configure it. I set the network name and password just fine, but when I was trying to configure IP settings I ran into trouble. I wanted to assign a range of IP addresses to clients who connect to the router wirelessly, so under the 'Connection Sharing' drop-down menu I chose 'Distribute a Range of IP addresses'. When I set it up, it seemed like the right thing to do, but after downloading the 'Designing AirPort Networks' guide off the Support site, it seems as if it's not the right choice. So my first question is: "Which setting should I set this to if I want to assign IP addresses that fall in a certain range to clients who connect to the router wirelessly? I should note that I would like to assign my own IP addresses (preferably the ones in the range 10.0.x.x), not ones that are in the range of the IP address assigned to my router by my ISP (Comcast).
Then... I was confused as to which field was which under the 'Internet Connection' tab of the 'Internet' section in the window. Now, in order to achieve what I described in the previous paragraph, I need to 'Manually' configure IPv4. First off: What is IPv4, and what's the difference between IPv4 and IPv6? After switching the drop-down menu to 'Manual', I didn't know what to enter in some of the fields. I knew what to enter for 'Subnet Mask', because I had seen it before on other routers as the default: 255.255.255.0. But then there were the 'IP address' and 'Router Address' fields. Before I get into this, I had a pretty good idea that these had to do with my router's WAN IP address and it's LAN IP address. Before the AirPort Extreme, I had a Linksys wireless router and from what I understand, the IP addresses assigned to clients are usually extentions of what the Router's LAN IP address is. For example: If the router has an LAN IP address of 192.168.1.1, you would generally set the range of client IP addresses to 192.168.1.100 through 192.168.1.1xx. So my next question is: Which field is the routers LAN IP address, and which field is the routers WAN IP address? I know that the router's WAN IP address is assigned by my ISP, and I assume that I assign the router my own LAN IP address; one that would correspond with the range of IP addresses the clients would be assigned. Just to note: If I'm completely wrong about any (or all) or this, someone please correct me.
I bought an AirPort Express about 9 months ago, and it was super easy to set up and use (just what I would expect from Apple). Back then I used the combination of 'AirPort Admin Utility' and 'AirPort Setup Assistant' to set up and reconfigure my AirPort express. With those two programs, it was a breeze, but with this new 'AirPort Utility', I have had more problems that I could ever imagine. If someone could please set me straight on all of this, I would really appreciate it.
    Thank you in advance,
    Trevor

I wanted to assign a range of IP addresses to clients who connect to the router wirelessly, so under the 'Connection Sharing' drop-down menu I chose 'Distribute a Range of IP addresses'.
This would be the correct choice if your ISP had provided you with a range of static IP addresses, instead, for what you want to do, you want to select "Share a public IP address."
Which setting should I set this to if I want to assign IP addresses that fall in a certain range to clients who connect to the router wirelessly? I should note that I would like to assign my own IP addresses (preferably the ones in the range 10.0.x.x), not ones that are in the range of the IP address assigned to my router by my ISP (Comcast).
Using the AirPort Utility, click on Internet, and then, click on the DHCP tab to select it. In the "DHCP Beginning Address" & "DHCP Ending Address" fields, enter the desired private LAN IP address range.
Now, in order to achieve what I described in the previous paragraph, I need to 'Manually' configure IPv4.
Unless you want to provide static IP addresses to the devices connected to your wireless network, it would be easier to let them get assigned dynamic IP address via the AEBSn's DHCP service.
First off: What is IPv4, and what's the difference between IPv4 and IPv6?
How about I just let Wikipedia provide the explanation.
Which field is the routers LAN IP address, and which field is the routers WAN IP address?
The IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router Address, DNS Server(s), and Domain Name fields are, typically populated by your ISP when "Configure IPv4: Using DHCP" is set...and represent the "WAN" side of the AEBSn.
I bought an AirPort Express about 9 months ago, and it was super easy to set up and use (just what I would expect from Apple). Back then I used the combination of 'AirPort Admin Utility' and 'AirPort Setup Assistant' to set up and reconfigure my AirPort express. Any particular reason you didn't just use the "Assist Me Setup" mode of the AirPort Utility? It works pretty much like the old "AirPort Setup Assistant" version.

  • Dynamic action with set value on date field

    Hi,
    I'm using APEX 4.02
I'm trying to calculate the age based on the date of birth dynamically on a form. I'm trying to do this with a (advanced)dynamic action with set value.
I'm able to get this kind of action working based on a number field etc, but NEVER on a date field.
I've read all posts on this subject but so far no solution. Even if I try to simply copy the value over to another date field or typecast it to a string ( to_char function ) it does not work. So for me the problem seems to be in the source field being a date field.
I've tried using the source value as is in a select statement :
    select :P33_GEBOORTEDATUM from dual;
and also type casted based on the date format :
    select TO_DATE(:P33_GEBOORTEDATUM,'DD-MON-YYYY') from dual
    but still no luck.
On the same form I don't have any issues as long as the calculation is based on number fields, but as soon as I start using dates all goes wrong.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If you need any extra info just let me know.
    Cheers

  • Problem with setting custom attribute and it being searchable

I'm having an issue with setting a custom attribute and having it be searchable using Portal 10.1.4. The situation that we have is that we initially added a bunch of files to Oracle Portal using webdrive. Later on, we decided that we needed another custom attribute called "Pinned Item" that will be used for searching (boolean value) and gave it a default value of false. The attribute was then added to the "File" item type in the "Shared Objects" group.
It appears that since this attribute wasn't initially available on the file object, we couldn't search on it so we decided to set it programatically. First, I tried using wwsbr.set_attribute but it errored out seemingly because the value wasn't set in the first place. If I set a value first by using the web front end, I could then use the set_attribute procedure.
So, I moved on to using wwsbr_api.modify_item and it appears to set it (although everything is being set to false until I changed it to "text" instead of "boolean" which is OK because that's what I wanted anyway... see metalink bug 390618.1). I'm using the method outlined in metalink doc 413079.1. When I do set it to a "1", and edit the item the check box is checked indicating that it is set correctly. And if I just click "OK" to save the attributes after I open it everything works like it should.
However, the advanced search (and custom search portlet) and the search APIs are not picking it up. I'm not sure if I'm hitting Metalink bug ID 5592472 or not as that's using the "set_attribute" procedure instead of the modify_item procedure. And their "workaround" of setting the attribute in the UI isn't really feasible for a couple thousand files.
So far I've tried the following things to get it working:
    1. I am calling wwpro_api_invalidation.execute_cache_invalidation
    2. I have executed wwv_context.sync
    3. I cleared the page group cache
    4. I invalidated all of the web cache
Does anyone else have any other suggestions?
