AT&T network so bad it lies about entire cities!!

Okay, I'm a phone nerd/tester you can say. BEFORE you reply: I put a line in this post to signify that the part after the lines where all just tests j did and not necessary to read to understand what I'm saying. You can read just everything above the line before replying. NOW back on topic: I test all four of the MAJOR carriers: Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile and am SHOCKED to find AT&T coverage maps are the biggest scam and lie in wireless HISTORY!! I've spent at least 20 hours, in this last month testing all 4 carriers. I live in Colorado so rural coverage is important.
I also used an external Wilson 4G booster when any phone had a poor signal, and it works great. In the booster it normally gains 2 bars and 15DB to 20db improvement in field test mode. Also speeds can go from 1mbps up to 30mbps in some areas in the booster.
I'll start off with this: if you check AT&T data coverage for Colorado you'll see it claims it covers roughly 95% of the LAND MASS (not population but pure land mass) of the State of Colorado. Now here's the thing: roughly 50% of the land mass of Colorado is completely uninhabited and Extremely
Remote and desolate areas where no one lives for 50 to 100 miles just dirt and grass in these areas. So the FACT that AT&T claims they cover all these areas is proof itself they are lying on a GRAND scale already about 50% of their entire coverage map -- right off the bat!! If you look at Big Red they show they cover roughly 50% of the land mass of Colorado, which is correct as the other 50% land mass is uninhabited. So AT&T is lying right in front of everyone on a GRAND scale (we are talking HALF of an entire States coverage map is undeniable lying due to the fact most of Colorados land is uninhabited but AT&T shows coverage there). That's' 50,000 square miles that AT&T is lying about just looking at their coverage map for Colorado. That's HUGE. Insane. Crazy. Beyond error, just flat out lying at that point no computer projections can be wrong or miscalculate 50% of an entire state.
The worst part is I've tested over 20 cities/towns/highways/landmarks where AT&T shows full solid 4G coverage, but when I go there I get NO SERVICE AT ALL, in any direction for countless miles!! I even put it inside a external signal booster and it will sometimes pick up 1-2 bars of 4G. Problem? It had 100% failure rate on calls, texts, and on data. I even tried to let webpages load for 5++ mins before the phone kicked me off saying "no internet connection". Siri didn't work. Speed Test said no connection. So even when it picked up False 4G signal indicators it failed 100% of the time. Or actually 99% of time. One call out of over 200+ test calls -- one call -- while inside a Wilson cradle booster and reading 2 bars of 4G it called 611 for 11
Seconds then dropped it. I tried data right after and it refused to connect 100% of the time. I did all the usual: turning phone off then back on, Power-cycling the iPhone, put it in airplane mode for 30 seconds then back on, tried turning cellular off then back on -- it still had 100% failure rate....
Now if you want to keep reading here are some examples I have:
#1: AT&T is the only carrier who claims they have 4G coverage in parts of Colorado where no one lives for 50 miles in any direction. It's just dirt and grass there!! All other carries maps show no service, but ATT shows coverage on nearly every inch of land. Seriously. Another real example: AT&T shows it has 4G for roughly 80% of the drive on Rampart range road all the way to Denver; which travels through the Pikes Peak National forest. Then it claims it covers the other 20% with either LTE, 3G, EDGE, or roaming. So it shows 100% coverage on that 70 mile+ windy mountain road that goes into the forest. Problem and reality? Problem: towers are illegal in Narional forests so no one can have 100% coverage deep into it, but ATT says it does. Reality? It losses ALL signal (not even 1 bar of anything) within 0.1 miles of getting into the road!! It keeps no service for the entire 3 hour+ drive even though it's maps claim 4G all over. Wow, that's a insane difference. 3-4 hours of no service at all when thy claim 4G??
Now: Verizon/Sprint/T-Mobile all show No Service on this road into their forest on their maps. Again ATT is the only one lying about a massive stretch of land that take hours to drive through.
#2: To add insult to injury I put AT&T into that 4G external booster on this 3+ hour drive (remember AT&T claims it covers every inch of this area with mostly 4G and some roaming toward the end).
RESULTS? No service the ENTIRE DRIVE
Every now and then inside the signal booster it would pop up showing "1-2 bars of 4G", which I would immediately attempt both the Internet and phone calls/texts. Results? All intent failed saying no connection even when AT&T would show 4G every now and then, and it FAILED to even dial out on 100% of all phone calls, and all text messages had 100% failure rate. The only time AT&T worked on this 3+ hour drive? When it one time read 4G with 3 bars it called 611 and dropped it 10 seconds later. Internet again failed to work at all.
Overall results: AT&T had NO SERVICE AT ALL 99% of the time and 1% of the time it picked up a 4G signal but it failed to work every time, and it only picked it up in a signal booster and but still failed to work!! Now this wouldn't be a problem if AT&T maps didn't claim it covered 100% of this 3 hour+ road with 4G coverage.
#3: Florrisant, Colorado: AT&T shows blanket full 4G coverage for the city. Reality? It gets 4G when you pass the city on the highway, but then the city heads south on the highway to actually get to it. Results? NO SERVICE AT ALL anywhere in the city. I drove all over and nothing! I can't believe they claim the entire city is covered in 4G but reality is no service. So I tried to put it in a signal booster.
Results? Exactly the same no service ANYWHERE, but the phone has "false indicators" sometimes saying 1-3 bars or 4G but it failed 100% of the time for data connection or phone calls. I go to this city
Semi- frequently so I was SHOCKED to find it had no service anywhere for dozens of miles -- even inside a Signal booster. Glad I didn't get rid of Verizon because I wanted AT&T more, but if I did I'd have no service in nearly all rural areas I go to! BTW Verizon had LTE out here even though it showed I was in a 3G area with limited 4G LTE.
Sprint had roaming service that worked. T-mobile did not work because their maps showed roaming and that was based off AT&T's coverage maps, which ATT lied about this entire city and the multiple highways near it!! NOW: I could **somewhat** understand if AT&T showed "2G roaming for entire city" and I went to that city and it had no service anywhere in the city. I could maybeee understand that. But claiming full solid 4G coverage and in reality having NO SERVICE AT ALL in the entire city!?! That's beyond scam, that's beyond "map's coverage Miscalculation" -- this is flat out lying about entire cities and entire highways.
#4: Rye, Colorado. Same story as above. Now their maps do show 4G all over for data but their voice coverage says requires 3G device likely meaning they have 1900 frequency out there. BUT STILL: they lied about that entire city too.
#5: I could name about 20 other cities, towns, highways, and landmarks but it would take hours to post. So far every single rural area test I have done in Colorado AT&T has failed in ALL CITIES with NO SERVICE, when their maps claimed they had solid 4G in every place!! Myself personally I have found 20 large areas AT&T claims full solid 4G coverage but in reality they have nothing at all, not even 1 bar of service. This is crazy. AGAIN: I tested all other carriers and no one else's map claim they have 4G coverage in entire cities and highways when reality they have nothing at all!! AT&T maps where roughly 5X + more inaccurate than everyone else.

AT&T coverage is smaller than maps online but if you compare it to national carriers, it is second only to Verizon in the USA and allows for larger global scale than Verizon.
I am having an issue now with View account not working and data previously not working on my tower which got a little better here as posted in another forum. But view account is still down for multiple days now and I told AT&T but no resolution as of yet. Service works well on the interstate highway system in populated areas.
I am not sure why they lie on coverage areas on their map, but from a consumer perspective the choices are Verizon or AT&T for large scale domestic as others are not competitive. AT&T just wants to make their network look even better than it is, but if population centers developed in rural markets, you can be sure AT&T would roll out a tower in those communities.
So even with the flaws I am experiencing on AT&T there are workarounds fortunately. You can not expect coverage everywhere on land based wireless. You need satellite or a hybrid land/wireless for complete coverage. AT&T does extremely well for wireless services. It does better than Verizon in some markets and worse in others.
AT&T does like to embelish its map whether intentionally or maybe it goes by actual license holdings and/or partners. But it is well known and over 100 million people will continue to use AT&T even fully knowing this.

  • HT3728 My Time Capsule won't allow me to access my home network each day (intermittently) between about 1000-1800. My modem is working properly, and I can get on-line by hooking my computer straight to my modem, so I know it's the Time Capsule at fault. I

My Time Capsule won't allow me to access my home wireless network for several hours each day -- usually between 1000-1830 or so. My modem is working correctly and I can still get on-line by going straight from my computer (MacBook Pro) to the Ethernet port. It must be the Time Capsule -- any ideas?

    Any ideas?
    Wireless Interference
Might be caused by a cordless phone in the vicinity. To give you an example, my neighbor.....across the street...used to be able to literally crash my wireless network if he was in his front yard talking on his cordless phone.
I discovered this by accident one day after spending weeks trying figure out why my network would crash at random times.
Other possibilities include a wireless security/camera system near you
Still other things might be an amateur ham radio operator....which should not interfere....but again from experience, I know that this can occur.
Yet another possibility is another wireless network near you that is being turned on and off at random times. Some users power up their modem/router only when they want to do so and leave it off otherwise.
Some general rules to help avoid interference:
Move any cordless phones that you might have as far away as possible from the Time Capsule and/or your computer(s)
Avoid placing other electronic devices....computer, television, amplifier, satellite receiver, etc. near the Time Capsule and/or your computer(s)
Avoid metal surfaces near the Time Capsule and/or your computers
Elevate the Time Capsule as much as possible. Think of it as a water sprinkler....you want to get the room as wet as possible
Experiment with different wireless channels on the Time Capsule. To do this:
    Open AirPort Utility
    Click on the Time Capsule
    Click Edit
    Click the Wireless tab
    Click Wireless Options
Start with Channel 11 on the 2.4 GHz band and work your way down
It is unlikely that you are picking up interference on the 5 GHz band since there are.....for now at least.....far fewer networks using this frequency.

They all give this wierd 404 error page from Apple and insist that I need to login to the network. What's the fix? None of the recommended fixes work in any of these devices. Reset device, reset network, renew lease, etc. None of them work.

    Does the iPod work OK?
Does it charge when connect to the computer?
Does it appear in My Computer?
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Compare with the iPod that does work/connect.

  • Verizon lies about me calling to terminate contract

I phoned a Verizon CSR to terminate my service at the end of my two year contract. I arranged a new calling plan for my wife to run through till the end of her contract and ended the call. I notified family, parishioners and co-workers of our new home phone number through Ooma. Little did I know, my trouble with Verizon was far from over.
The next month I was billed again for my now recycled smartphone to the tune of $111.00. I called customer service and was immediately told I didn't cancel my service. After talking awhile, the CSR said, "It says here you cancelled your service last month, I don't know why it didn't happen."  She stated further that she couldn't credit me the amount Verizon over billed me as "our system won't allow us to to reverse your bill". "You will have to pay the bill or risk paying late fees and I will credit your wife's phone $29.00 for your trouble and I will call you personally at home and credit the remaining amount." I asked if she could do it later then why couldn't she do it now.  Once again, "the system won't allow me."
The next day I called and spoke to a manager.  He told me that it was my fault I was being billed as I can't cancel my service and change my wife's calling plan at the same time. It was if it was one of Verizon's Ten Commandments. I said I made careful notes and the CSR who cancelled my service and changed my wife's plan must have been unaware of this phantom policy as well. He relented and told me he would call and listen to the tapes of my phone conversations. The manager said he would call me in 48 to 72 hours.  That was three weeks ago!  I filed a complaint with the FCC.  Now I get a response from a lady in the Executive Relations Office wanting me to call her but she has no information about my account.  Why can't Verizon find out about their customers?  The FCC complaint includes the details. I don't want another cell phone and I especially dont want to ever have anything at all to do with Verizon ever again!  CUSTOMERS BEWARE!

What did you think was happening? The way the alternate upgrade was done is the way it has ALWAYS been done. Your dad's line had the discount. It's like him going and getting the new iPhone then coming home and changing it back to his old phone and giving you the iPhone to use. The way the store did it was to avoid the extra step and just processed it to go on your line directly. If you dad wants to avoid the ETF you must return the iPhone (a $35 restocking fee will apply) and wait until your upgrade date on your line to get a phone at the discounted price. It doesn't matter how long you've been a customer or how much money you pay monthly. That just means you like Verizon's service so you stay with them and the amount of money you pay is based on the services you ask Verizon to provide. I hate when people say that they've been a customer for X amount of years and their bill is X amount of dollars like it entitles them to something. Your 10 years and $300 a month is no better than the person who pays $50 and has been a customer for 2 years. You're requesting a service. You're not entitled to anything.

  • Guest Network really secure? What about Ethernet?

Quick question - I haven't find any similar topics in the forum.
I have set up a Guest network on my Apple Time Capsule. Everything great, isolated VLAN I get the point. What if the "guest" connects directly to the Capsule via Ethernet /RJ45 ?
    >> What are the risks, and what kind of resources he may have now access to ? I don't want to take the risks of personal data on the Capsule to be accessible through Ethernet.
Thank you for your help --AA

What if the "guest" connects directly to the Capsule via Ethernet /RJ45 ?
Then the "guest" will be on the "main" or "private" network, and the "guest" will be able to "see" other devices on the main network.
Whether or not the guest will be able to to actually connect to any other devices to access data will depend on whether he has the correct log on credentials for any given device.

  • Smartview 11.1.1.3 Network Timeouts - Bad Port?

    I get the following error.
+Cannot set cube view properties. Essbase Error(1290001): Network Error [10061]: Unable To Connect To [Hyp01:32768]. The client timed out waiting to connect to the Essbase Server using TCP/IP. Check your network connections. Also please make sure that Server and Port values are correct.+
So what is port 32768 and what piece of the Fusion middleware is trying to talk to it? Shouldn't this be strictly between my PC and the APS on port 13080? If not, where is the config file I would change to make sure that port value is correct?

same error just happened to me, that's how I stumbled upon this page.
just restarted excel and essbase, this error has gone away.

  • Funny Verizon blog post; lies about Netflix

Here's a hilarious article from Verizon to dispell the 'myth' of issues getting what you have requested from Netflix:
    http://publicpolicy.verizon.com/blog/entry/why-is-netflix-buffering-dispelling-the-congestion-myth
    Here's my favorite part:
"One might wonder why Netflix and its transit providers were the only ones that ran into congestion issues. What it boils down to is this: these other transit and content providers took steps to ensure that there was adequate capacity for their traffic to enter our network."
Last time I checked, Verizon sells internet service to its customers; i.e., pay us and we give you access to whatever you want on the internet.  It is their job to ensure that I can get the content I am paying them to deliver to me.  It's ludacris to expect every content provider on the internet to investigate whether or not every internet provider on the planet has a network engineered to be able to receive large amounts of traffic from them.
I love how Verizon calls the traffic "their traffic." as if Netflix is magically sending something to them uninvited.  No Verizon, the traffic in question is not Netflix's traffic, it is my traffic.  I pay you for internet service, and I pay Netflix for movies, delivered in the form of packets of data across the internet.  When a unicast stream of movie data leaves Netflix's servers, it is mine, I paid for it, I pay you to deliver it from them to me, and you suck at doing that during busy times of the day.

that isn't how the internet works.
    Put it this way.
You want to share files with ME
If I don't have internet, can you do that?
    No.
If netflix doesn't get an ISP can they stream their videos?
    no.
So Netflix has an ISP and they pay people to get their traffic from point A to B.
They are going on the cheap and using congested ISP's on their end, that is why your HBO GO your Hulu your amazon prime, your video streaming to Verizon probably works quite well.
It's netflix's problem.   they could fix this with a few mouse clicks, but they want free bandwidth.   apple pays for theirs, microsoft pays for theirs, all their competitors pay for theirs.
That is unfair business practices and they are using you as a political ping pong ball trying to get their way

  • LIES about Installation Charge: Read my convo w/ AT&T

    Hello, !
Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the confusion surrounding the installation charge. We would be happy to look into this, so please click here to send us a private message with your contact information, the best time to reach you, and a brief summary of the issue.
You can expect a reply within two business days, so keep an eye on the little blue envelope icon in the top right corner of your screen. In the meantime, feel free to message me with any other questions or concerns.
    -Mariana

Hany : Hello. I’m sorry for any delay in reaching me and appreciate your patience. I am a Manager and see that you have been speaking with my Representative Please allow me a moment to review your previous conversation and I will be happy to assist you further.Me: I am now getting very impatient.Hany : i do understand that your concern is about the insa+tlation charges for your services , am i correct ?Me: Apart of many more concerns, yes. That is my priority at the moment.Hany : i do apologize for the inconvenience here , but usually the instaltion charges for the services are valid charges , since there was a job performed by a skilled technician in your premisesMe: I would like to note a few things, the initial issues can be read above within the chat but not only did 4 separate Customer Service Reps misguide me regarding my installation and make promises regarding price adjustments but all of this was also NOT NOTED with the technician notes. How convenient is this..Me: Yes, there was a job performed by the technician. However, the first time frame (8-9am PT) I was told the tech would be coming was all of a sudden changed to (9-11am PT) when no one showed up for BOTH time frames I had already spoken to 4 people and stayed home from work to accommodate your tech's schedule only to find out the order was "lost"Me: As a result of speak to 5 people total between myself and my roommate and for the 2 inaccurate time frames AND the tech not showing up because AT&T messed up the order, your Customer Service Rep said my one time fee would be removed AND adjustments would be made to my monthly installment. Now, conveniently none of this is in your notesMe: I would love for you to listen to those recorded calls...unless those too are "lost"Me: In addition, Glendy decided to upsell me which is fair, however they also completely ignored my one and only reason for coming into the LC which is to find out what my NEW monthly installment is.Me: So Hany, I'll ask you the same question. With removing the one time charge of $99 and making whatever adjustments to my $51/month charge, what am I looking at monthly?Hany : your monthly bill will be 51,95 plus taxesMe: That is the same as what I pay now.Hany : that but the 99 $ charges are valid , since there is no notes indicating otherwise , and also , the monthly charges are fixes at the quoted rateMe: I hope you understand how patient and respectful I have been to all of the AT&T reps I have interacted with since this started some weeks ago. And despite hurdle after hurdle I have continued to be patient.Hany : i do appreciate thatHany : but from our end the charges are validMe: So Hany, what you're telling me is that NO adjustments are going to be made.Hany : the job is done , and the service is workingHany : i will make a courtesy adjustemnt from my endHany : \Me: And what is this courtesy adjustment?Hany : for all the hastle that you went through ,i wil waive 50 $ from the 99$ installation , as half the chargesMe: Do you have the authorization to waive the installation fee?Hany : no , sorryMe: That's okay, I would like to speak to someone who has that authority.Me: I appreciate your assistance.Me: I also seem to have lost the ability to email this chat to myself, will you be kind enough to send me a COMPLETE copy?Hany : well you can copy and paste itHany : the installation changes cant be waivedMe: Then why would your reps say they couldHany : that why i cant remove those chargesMe: and why are those notes missing from my fileHany : nobody can remove themMe: I hear you, however you are not answering me.Hany : thats why o offered you 50% adjustemnt as courtesy creditMe: Why, if that's not even an option, was that said to me?Hany : i will check about that as well ,Hany : i dont see any notes about any waiverMe: Yes, please make sure to actually note this entire conversation.Me: I'm sure you don't.Me: What is noted?Me: The two separate installation windows? Is that noted?Me: The multiple phone calls? Is that noted?Me: The "lost/missing" order and failure for the tech to show up? Is that noted?Hany : there was 2 orders , the initial one is canceled , ( notye on the order that you done online , there is 99$ installation already , on 3 different installment each month 33$ ), and there was other ordere done when you called and spoke with the rep , and that was completed already , with instaltion fees 99$ as it appears on the bill ,Me: It's an insult and quite frankly beyond poor customer service to think that $50 is a courtesy discount when the lost wages for missing one day of work plus the HOURS spent on the phone and in this chat in addition to how all of the reps have handled is laughable.Me: Oh so now the $99 is split into 3 installments? When was that note dated?Hany : you made your service initail order online , correct ??Me: No, over the phone.Me: I spoke to a woman and we set up the date and time for the tech to arrive as well as what package was best fit for me.Me: Nothing, outside of this Live Chat was handled online.Hany : so the initil aorder too has instalationHany : ok thenMe: Your notes seem to be pretty inaccurate, if it's not too obvious to point that out.Me: Again, the $99 is split into 3 installments? When was that note dated?Hany : that was the original order that was cicelledHany : canceledMe: Why would there be a cancelled order?Me: And if there was, why was there no notification: text or email sent to me as a result. Shouldn't there be a confirmaiton?Hany : there was a problem in the order for the instaltion part , so a new order had to be issuedMe: A problem on AT&T's behalfHany : a problem in your are location and trhe house probably ,m that the signal was not passed to the premisesMe: So your cancelled my order, didn't tell me, had me wait at home for 4 hours then had me reschedule and wait at home again, promise adjustments and decline those promisesMe: Because AT&T failed to pass through the orderMe: Yet here we are, closing in on 2 hours in this LC and you're offering to waive me $50Me: Is that correct, Hany?Hany : i am offering to waive 50 $ , correctMe: Nice of you to confirm an ounce of the truth. Okay, well thank you for your "service." Please immediately waive 50% of the installation fee AND provide me the direct line to your supervisor and confirm that this Live Chat is in my file in it's entirety.Me: I'll wait for your complete confirmation and the information requested.Me: Thank You.Hany : juyst a secondMe: No worriesHany has left the chatYou are being transferred, please hold...Agent Ivan enters chatMe: Hello Ivan, what is your role in relation to Hany?Me: Is anyone there?Me: Hany did not confirm everything I asked, can you confirm the time stamp of the first message and also identify your role at AT&T?Me: Hello?Me: I apologize for my sarcasm but I really cannot fathom how AT&T's customer service can get any better.

  • Engineer does not turn up and lies about it.

I called BT at 4:42. Operator told me an engineer would come before 6pm. I asked if the engineer was definitely coming, the operator replied that yes, he definitely was coming by 6:00.
At 5:58, the engineer had still not arrived, so I phoned again. I stated that no engineer had arrived. I was then put on hold while the order was checked. When the operator came back on the line, I was transferred to the Infinity Team.
The Infinity Team operator introduced himself then put me on hold while he checked what was happening to the order.
At 6:14 he came back told me he was checking with the engineer and put me back on hold.
At 6:18, the operator asked me whether I was calling from the landline or mobile. I replied landline and he said he would call me back. As I had not heard anything from anyone at BT despite there being a problem, I asked to remain on hold while he sorted out what was going on. I had little confidence in receiving a call back.
At 6:38 I was told the operator was speaking to engineers.
At 6:44 the line went dead.
At 6:45 the operator called back, apologised and told me he was speaking to the engineers. I was put on hold again.
At 6:59 the operator said the engineer called at 1:30 pm and waited half an hour. I was then asked the colour of my door. It is glass and white – was then told that is what the engineer said. I asked what floor did he call at?
At 7:12, the line went dead. The operator did not call back.
I live in a small maisonette – it is impossible for the engineer knocking not to be heard. Totally impossible. The engineer is lying. BT and the engineer have both my mobile and home number. No calling card was left and no one called and no one knocked the door. Furthermore, no one mentioned a failed engineer visit during my first call when I was still being assured the engineer was on his way.
It is poor enough, an engineer just not showing up, but the subsequent lie and just getting cut off is unacceptable.

OMG the same thing has just happened to me.
I was assigned a slot from 8am to 1pm for an engineer to arrive.  At 13:20pm when noone had arrived I called BT.  I was transferred on the call a number of times having to go through the whole story with several people and was then cut off.  I had to call a number of times before I was able to get through to someone who could help.  I was then kept on hold for a very long time while the person contacted the engineering department.
I was told that if I waited for a further hour someone would be with me.  At about 2:30pm I then called BT again when noone had turned up.  I made the call from my home office and was looking out on the street infront of my house while i was on the phone.  I was on the phone with BT till after 3pm and never once did I see any BT vehicle or engineer on the street.  I was then told that the engineer had visited my home at 2:30pm and had tried to contact me on my mobile but noone was in!  So as it turns out I was on the phone to BT from my personal landline number looking out onto my front door at the same time as the engineer had visited and determined that I was not in!!!  I cannot believe it!  I actually will have proof of this from my phone records as well!  The engineer apparently also rang my mobile which was on my desk next to me while I was on the landline with BT!!
I must say that being treated like this has left me with very little trust in BT - and this is before I even have the phone installed!!!  I now have to wait to the 29th Jul for this all to happen again!!!

  • ITunes lies about authorized computers

I'm having a very interesting problem. It started when I moved my iTunes library to my MacBook from my old Dual G4 (The library itself is on an external disk). Everything seemed to move over just fine but when syncing my iPhone I got a message saying that I already had 5 computers authorized to play some DRM song files purchased from the iTunes store. I know that's not true, as I only own and use two computers with my iTunes. So I logged into my account and there it says I have 2 computers authorized. Interesting....
So then I tried to sync my iPhone again and this time the message says simply that my MacBook is not authorized but I'm able to take the steps to authorize it. So I enter my iTunes account info, twice because the window pops up twice for whatever reason, and then I get the message again saying I have 5 computers authorized already and can't authorize a new one.
My account info still says I only have two authorized computers. As far as I knew my MacBook was already one of those two. I don't know what that changed. I can't deauthorize all. How can I fix this problem??

actually here's some more detail for you. With iTunes open, if I choose Store>Authorize this Computer... iTunes tells me that this computer is authorized, and that I'm using 2 of 5 authorizations. But when I try to sync my phone i get this....
This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on the iPhone "+My iPhone+". Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes store.
So I choose to authorize, enter my info in the next prompt. That prompt pops up again, with a different account name in the apple id field (weird). So I erase that and enter my info yet again. Then it tells me the computer is all ready authorized! And then I get the first prompt again: This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items etc... It's stuck in a vicious circle. Help!

  • I would like to transfer a playlist and associated music from one computer on a home sharing network to another without transferring the entire library.  How?

I would like to transfer a playlist and associated music from one computer to another in a home sharing network without transfering the entire itunes library.  How would I do that?

you can transfer playlists using home sharing but it won't copy the actual music files within to the other machine.
however, i believe TuneRanger can do that.
