AT&T Pre Plus and Pixi Reception are lacking

I had an iphone and I use to think that phone had bad signal. Now my pre plus gets barely 1 bar when iphones around me are getting 4bars of 3g. Its killing my battery switching between edge and 3g. I didn't want to make a big deal but my friend just bought a pixi and asked "Why do I always have low reception on this phone?" he was comparing to his old nokia 71x. But I do agree the reception I get is far below average, and worse than iphones.
Can this be fixed through software? I love my pre but I never had so many problems with signal before.

I've never had an iPhone to compare (though one of my kids has), but I am trying out an AT&T Pre Plus for awhile before deciding whether to keep it and pay Sprint's early termination fee. I live in a borderline area and still find that my signal strength on the AT&T Pre Plus here at the house seems to be as good as it was on my Moto Razr and Palm Centro. OTOH, one of my kids who used to have an iPhone before it died about a month out of warranty, used to routinely complain that it would drop calls and lose signal in places where I never used to experience problems.
Anecdotal, I know. But my experience seems to be different than yours.

Pam Pre Plus and Google on Verizon - odd issues, but "workable" solution

On the phone with baffling the poor girl at verizon right now with my little discovery, but this is an odd one for you.
On the phone data connection, I set up my gmail account in mail, and everything pulls down. Using the same username and password in Contacts and Calendar, however, I get "invalid username or password." As my password is a fairly irritating alphanumeric, I enter it into my notes and cut and paste to the password field, and I receive the same
Here's the whack part. When I connect to my internal wifi network in my house, enter in the user name and password for google the exact same way, everything syncs. When I disconnect from the wifi, I'm back to the same issue where I continuously get the prompt to enter in my password. When I reconnect to my WiFi network, viola, everything works.
As someone whose done networking and telco for many years, I find this both entertaining and irritating as all the google searches I've done on the topic has bee nothing but "It don't work,' but here's a workable solution, providing you have regular access to a non-cellular wireless network.

I have seen similar situations like this and have some steps to try:
First, remove the google account from Email, Contacts, Calendar, and Messaging.
Next, restart your device.
Now, add the google account to Email only. The sync system should automatically add the account to all of the other systems.Let the sync icon disappear from the lower left hand corner of the screen, and check the other systems to verify that google added correctly.
At that point, you should be able to switch back and forth from WiFi to Data service and not be signed out or see any errors.

Pre Plus Mobile Hotspot laptop connection issues

Hello All.
I think this is a duplicate post because I hit enter accidentally! Sorry.
I am having a problem connecting my laptop to the internet using Mobile Hotspot through VzW. I have activated the feature on VzW, have the software loaded on my Pre Plus and have tested it successfully with my daughter's iTouch device. She was able to easily connect and access the web while we were in the car.
My laptop recognizes the MHS as a WiFi access and connects to it initially. When it tries to acquire a network address, it fails. I says that the connection has limited or no connectivity. I cannot get on the web with that.
My question is what settings I might need to set on my laptop to help with this connectivity. I have WAP Personal set with the appropriate Key on both devices.
Any thoughts from anyone? I would appreciate any help. I like the concept of the feature but not being able to connect my laptop really puts a damper on my enthusiasm!

I had the same issue. I resolved it by using a passcode that has 8 lowercase letters and no numbers...

Contacts transfer from Centro to Pre Plus

I have downloaded ECho 3.0 to my PC, but have not switched phones yet until I get some advice. Should I transfer my contacts to my Sim Card before I switch it into my Pre Plus? I want to basically put all my info from Centro to Pre Plus and continue to use DeskTop Plus. Anyone?

You can easily do that by downloading the music before you get to that area of weak Wi-Fi and cellular signal by downloading the music directly from the Music app by tapping the cloud button next to songs. The other option is to sync the music with iTunes over USB to have the songs downloaded to your phone. Take a look at the links below to get your music downloaded to your iPhone.

I'm in the same situation. I was up trying to get on the Verizon page at 11:55, kept getting the ECPD error. When finally got through, the Silver Iphone Plus 64 showed arrival of 9-19. At every step of the process, it seemed that I was ordering a phone that would arrive on day1. At no point did it say this was an estimate. At no point did it say it might change. In a big yellow box, it said "9-19". Ordered it, then got confirmation email stating it should arrive at 9-19. Seems like all should be good, right? Order site said 9-19, I've got a confirmation email saying 9-19, done and done.
Then I check the website, and suddenly it changed to 10-14?!?!?!? I feel like this was a bait and switch. I was able to pickup an iphone5 in a local store on launch day, and would not have locked myself into a preorder through Verizon if I had known this would happen!
So, that leads back to the original questions. Lets assume I walk into a Verizon store on 9-19, and there is an available iphone6 plus just sitting there, can I either get that phone as fulfillment of my pre-order. Or, cancel my pre-order and buy that phone right then and there?

Pre Plus was all and more...

I have wanted a Pre since I saw it from Sprint. I even considered canceling one of our lines, letting another family member have mine so that I could go to Sprint.
So, when I heard that Verizon was going to be getting it, I was thrilled. I always look into customer product reviews before I get anything. And, I was really surprised to see all the negative ones. It made me a little apprehensive.
When our account was still Alltel, I had bought my very first smartphone, a Motorola Q10. I loved it. But, when the official change to Verizon happened...it didn't work properly anymore. Verizon replaced it, but as we all know-you get the phone one step below. I ended up with an HTC Ozone. Hated every minute of it. I would lose text messages that were saved if the phone got "confused", pictures would go **bleep**...there was even one night I was talking to a friend through text....everyone in my contacts that had a smartphone got all the messages! The other day, I had it plugged in for charging...it caught on fire! I had always heard that cell phones could do. But, I have never seen it, or had met anyone that it happened to.
I got online, and got myself a Palm Pre Plus. Hoping against hope that all the negative reviews were just from Verizon haters who would let it be known to all who asked, and didn't, that the phone sucked. (Not being a big Verizon fan because of all the crap that happened with the Alltel buy-out...I normally made my presence known at the store!)
I knew the battery wouldn't last long...it doesn't. LoL! But, other than that....I am so in love with this phone. I think it's a phone that comes from a company that takes pride in giving consumers the best they have to offer. And they make them to stand the time. I have several chronic medical conditions. Epilepsy, fibro, and Celiac. One thing that I love about Palm is that they joined up with Celiac.com to have an app that translates what Celiac is, and what kinds of food I HAVE to avoid to keep my body from attacking itself. Considering most people don't know what Celiac is, I was EXTREMELY surprised and happy to see that.
I was a little worried with the touch screen, because I have heard that a lot of touch screens can get cracked or messed up easy...and leaves you with a phone that won't work properly. But, after getting the phone, it took me all of 20 minutes to realize that a touch screen was just what I needed. Because of my medical conditions, I have slight tremors-some from meds, others because of the actual condition itself. Since me hands don't always stay steady enough to work a keyboard for every action that I do, I was limited in my use of previous phones. Having the majority of the uses on this phone controlled by touch screen has made all the difference in the world!
I am so thankful that I didn't let the negative reviews keep me from getting the Pre Plus. I would highly recommend it to anyone who asks. I would also recommend that they get a second battery. LoL!

Help with Pre Plus turning off and not restarting

I've had my Pre Plus since 2010 without issues until I went to Arizona in April. It turned off by itself and it's never been the same since. I think I've got the cause narrowed down to either overheating and/or prolonged phone/web use. It's warmer now in Portland and the phone turns off more frequently. It's happened every day since April.
The frustrating part is that it won't restart until it cools off. So, if I'm at home, I put it in the freezer to get it restarted faster.
Sometimes, I get the palm/rom message but going through that process hasn't helped.
Also, this happens with the original battery and the extended battery.
Does anyone have a fix or recommendation for this? Thanks!

Two things to try; most likely you phone actually has an issue and you need to set up at appointment at your nearest apple store ot have it fixed (apple.com/retail) pick whatever store is closest.
However; windows computers often "attack" ipods or iphones thinking they are a virus. You may want to turn off your virus protection and plug the phone in again and try restoring it without any virus stuff on.
However, it sounds as long it's not a software issue but a hardware one and restore won't fix that.

I have a new iPhone 6 plus and all is OK. But the mail shows more than 400 'unread' messages whereas there are none in the mailbox or trash or anywhere else I have looked. I can send and receive with no problem. I'm sure I have no unread messages.

What I need to know is "how" I can separate or rather create another Apple ID for my son-who is currently using "my Apple ID?" If there is a way to let him keep "all" his info on his phone (eg-contacts, music, app's, etc.) without doing a "reset?') Somehow I need to go into his phone's setting-create a new Apple ID and possibly a new password so he can still use our combined iCloud & Itunes account?
Also then letting me take back my Apple ID & password, but again allowing us (my son and I) to use the same iCloud & Itunes account? Does that make more sense??? I'm sincerely trying to get this cleared up once and for all----just need guidance from someone who has a true understanding of the whole Apple iCloud/Itunes system!

Palm Pre Plus turned off and it doesn't turn back on

OK yesterday I was using my phone and I left it lying on my bed, 5 minutes later I try and use it and it's like turned off, it doesn't turn back on, I know the battery isn't dead because the battery was at 70 %, I didn't drop any liquids on it and when I called it, it's like its turned off but I can't turn it back on and I can't charge it either and I know it's not disconnected so I don't know what the problem is so any help would be nice and I'm new to this community so I don't know if this is the right section to post this but again help me out please
PS I've only dropped it once and that drop wasn't enough to break it or anything

Hello lafan and welcome to the forums,
I'm sorry your having this issue. You could try holding the power button down and switching the ringer switch back and forth 3 times.
If this doesn't work, you could also try pulling the battery and re-seting it to see if the device powers back up.
If this does not work, I would suggest replacing the battery, possibly the device.

Windows Mobile PDA WiFi and Palm Pre Plus Hotspot

I can't get my PDA, which is running Windows Mobile 5, to connect securly with my Palm Pre Plus. I can make the WiFi connection if the hotspot is set to open, but if the hotspot is set to wpa/wpa2 personal the connection doesn't happen. Does anyone know what settings are required in the network setup area on the PDA to make the secure connection work?

Try doing a system update. The steps are below.
From the Home screen, touch the launcher icon.
Touch Updates.
If necessary, swipe horizontally or vertically to locate the application.
Touch Download now.
Touch Install now.
Touch Done.
