ATI driver - can't find kernel module

I downloaded catalyst and catalyst-utils like the wiki said, and then I went.
[lewis@1711 lib]$ modprobe fglrx
FATAL: Module fglrx not found.
Which begs the question...lolwut? The whole purpose of the catalyst package was to install the module.

If you are running the 2.6.31 kernel you will have to uncomment the following line in the pkgbuild
# Uncomment the following line if you are using kernel 2.6.31
# patch -p0 < 2.6.31.patch
you will also probably have to blacklist !radeon in your daemons array

• [Solved] Can't find usbnet module in stock kernel

Hi,
I was trying to get USB tethering to work, and found that I don't have the "usbnet" module. Pkgfile tells me that linux and linux-lts both provide usbnet, but I can't find the module (in /usr/lib/modules/...) at all (I'm on the 3.6.10-1 kernel, just reinstalled it from the repositories to make sure). I checked the file list of the 3.6.9-1 kernel that I had in pacman's cache, and the module wasn't there either. Does anyone know why I'm not getting this module with my kernel?
Last edited by Ploink (2012-12-29 16:00:42)

pacman -Ql linux | grep usbnet
linux /usr/lib/modules/3.6.10-1-ARCH/kernel/drivers/net/usb/usbnet.ko.gz
Edit: oops, I see you said you checked the file list. Sorry, I typed faster than I read. If you do not get similar output to this, then the linux package isn't properly installed.

Hmm... personally I would never run any command without understanding what it does, but it's your funeral, I guess.
Apart from that, are you sure larch is still compatible with Arch? It's nearly four years since the last update in the larch git repo, and as I'm sure you know, Arch changes frequently. I'd suggest you try to contact the developer directly.

Yep, I got that far, and tried the same advice from a different user with a 'tee' command which did the same thing, but unfortunately the forcedeth module can't be loaded because its in a different directory than the 'uname -r' specification allows modprobe to search for. • IPW2100 driver can't load the module

Hi everybody,
I have an centrino Dell Inspiron 8600 and I'm trying to make working wireless hardware. I noticed that the installing of the ipw2100 with pacman produces a new directory in the /lib/modules
It's different than my kernel, seems stock kernel directory,
I'm using a compiled kernel and when I try to load the module it doesn't load it and all I see are just a couple of warnings.
My questions are:
Have I to use an stock kernel?
If yes where can I find some HowTo that explains how to use it?
(I don't like 800x600 terminal, by compiling I can decide to use 1024x768)
If not, have I to use source? I seems strange, I mean, what's pacman for? :?
Thank you guys

Ok, I used abs to compile my new module, now I have my module in the right place.
but when I try to load it happen this:
[root@sanctuary arael]# modprobe ipw2100

Slightly OT, but in the interest of getting you back to the stock kernel - it shouldn't be necessary to recompile the kernel simply to change screen res. What prompted you to do it?
When I use stock kernel I can't recompile it...I mean it's precompiled ... or not? :?
To have 1024x768 login shell I can specify during "make menuconfig ncurses screen"... But when I use stock kernel what should I to do, pass to lilo right parameters? Othervise the default is 800x600 and I don't like it to much...but this is just my preference...and is not important...
Using ipw2100 and kernel26 precompiled does't change the situations. I have my module in the right place but modprobe says that there isn't a module called ipw2100...
To use linux I guess that people should be very smart or a guru...and supose that this is not too much my case. :?
I have also an hp usb printer that doesn't works and I don't understand why. I have to use windows to print. It's very frustrating have hardware but not be able to make it work....

• Importing CD's to external hard drive-can't find folders...

I'm importing CD's to an external hard drive, but I can't find the folders. I've changed the Folder Location to the external drive, and I'm not copying them into the Music Folders. They don't seem to be saved on the external drive, nor are they in the Music Folder in the internal Hard Drive. They're playing OK, even though a few full CD's are not automatically playing unless I find their original location.
Should I load the iTunes.app into the External drive? How can I ensure that the songs are loading on the external drive and not the internal drive? If they are saved on the internal drive, how can I transfer them to the external drive, and have them play regularly? I have this external drive for the exclusive purpose of saving my music, and I'd like to import quite a few more cd's, but I'm waiting to make sure that I'm doing it correctly.
Thank you, in advance.

I appreciate your help, but I realize that I need to be more specific.
I burned several CD's onto my orginal Mac Hard Drive. Weeks later, I added the external hard drive via a USB port. Then I copied the iTunes Music Folder (the original music files) to the external Hard Drive, and put the original into the Trash. Now when I import new CD's, it saves them to my external drive by default, which I chose through--Change Folder Locations. All of this is fine, it's what I want.
1) When I choose iTunes, and go to the Library, all the songs are listed, original and new. However, it won't play all of the songs. It asks to find it in the original location, but only a few of the folders are listed, a few of the originals and all of the newly imported CD's.
2) When I import new CD's, how can I be assured that it's saving them on the external drive only. If the CD takes, let's say 500MB, it doesn't seem to register as taking up 500MB of space on the external drive.
What does consolidating the Library mean?
I know it may sound complicated, but I feel it's an easy problem to alleviate, and I'm missing some simple step.
Again, thank you in advance.

• Can't find s:Module

Hi everyone:
I just can't find the <s:Module>, is there any chance to use <s:state> and <s:transitions> in <mx:module>
It is very strange..
thanks

Not everything is available at the moment in spark but over time more and more mx functionality will end up in the spark set. FB2 is much better at dealing with the mixing of mx and spark and this will keep improving as bugs are ironed out
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Module xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/halo" layout="absolute" width="400" height="300">
<fx:Declarations>
<s:Animate />
</fx:Declarations>
<fx:Script>
<![CDATA[
]]>
</fx:Script>
</mx:Module>
the above is the basic mx module it still will allow you to mix spark and mx, so yes you can use mix and match, the caveat being that at the moment you may run into some issues but thats what testing is all about. If you have any problems you can always put your code up for others to look at, if it is a compatibility issue then it can be listed as a bug.

Hello,
That module is detailed here: http://kb.worldsecuresystems.com/134/bc_1345.html - search for module_producfeaturelist
Specifically, the last parameter determines which layout it used. If it's set to true, the small product backup layout is used - and you can find that under Module templates - > Online Shop layouts. Or if you're using FTP, under Layouts->online shop.

In your Mac Pro the Apple Prores codecs are available in the render options and in the Mac Book Pro don´t?
(Speedgrade has got several presets like Cineon, Prores4444, TGA, DPX or AJA by default in the render tab, but you can change and save your presets and export codecs if you like.
There are a "Other" button in the "Options and Format settings" in the render tab. You can select the "Other" button to look several options and change the codec in the Quicktime tab settings)

install -d $startdir/pkg/usr/sbin
install vpnc $startdir/pkg/usr/sbin
install vpnc-connect $startdir/pkg/usr/sbin
install vpnc-disconnect $startdir/pkg/usr/sbin
install -d $startdir/pkg/etc
install vpnc.conf $startdir/pkg/etc
Guess what, it works
I can reproduce my steps.
- makepkg
- pacman -A vpnc-xxxxxx.tar.gz
- add tun to the daemons array in rc.conf
- Modify /etc/vpnc.conf
- vpnc-connect
