Nvida driver - can't find nvidia module
Finally went out and bought an nvidia geforce 6600Gt video card.
But guess what now I can't install the dam thing.
I followed the arch wiki but all I get is
Installation starts now ...
FATAL: Module nvidia not found.
If you need more information about setting up nvidia drivers have a look at:
"http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/How to install NVIDIA Driver"
modprobe nvida gives the same results. I thoght pacman -S nvida is supposed to install the kernel modules so how com e it can't find them ?
I even created a /usr/src/linux symlink to the current kernel - still not working. So what's going on I thought nvidia drivers were supposed to be really easy to install ????
The error message when I run pacman -S nvidia is shown in my first post.
I do not have a custom kernel I have pacman -S kernel26 (kernel-2.6.11.3-ARCH)
Do I need to install kernel full kernel sources with ABS for nvidia to work ?
I did try this but he kernel failed to build (can't remember why now)
Here's the last part of nvidia-installer.log incase that helps

ATI driver - can't find kernel module
I downloaded catalyst and catalyst-utils like the wiki said, and then I went.
[lewis@1711 lib]$ modprobe fglrx
FATAL: Module fglrx not found.
Which begs the question...lolwut? The whole purpose of the catalyst package was to install the module.If you are running the 2.6.31 kernel you will have to uncomment the following line in the pkgbuild
# Uncomment the following line if you are using kernel 2.6.31
# patch -p0 < 2.6.31.patch
you will also probably have to blacklist !radeon in your daemons array -
Adobe Premiere can not find any module capable of playing video. Update the video drivers and start again.
I've tried all the options suggested and the problem continues.
What else can I do?
Note: I had already worked before.
Windows 8.1
Notebook i7, 8M memory, video card Nvidia (updated).
Adobe Premiere Pro 2014
Please help me. Thank you.
mailto: [email protected]Here is a link to an Adobe TechNote about the same issue with an earlier (much earlier!) version of Premiere Elements and Windows XP.
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/324/324938.html
I'll leave it to Steve and Bill as to whether the fix offered in the link for Premiere Elements 2 would still be applicable to your version of Premiere Elements.
Hope this is of some assistance. -
In which folder of my Seagate 3TB external hard drive, can I find my iPhoto photos from my iMac (iOS X Maverick)?
tlah wrote:
The Seagate 3TB external hard drive backs up the entire internal hard drive of the iMac.
Is this external drive a Time Machine backup?
Then find what you want using Time Machine (or whatever application you used to make the backup).
Your iPhoto pictures are in the iPhoto library in Users/Pictures. -
[Solved] Can't find usbnet module in stock kernel
Hi,
I was trying to get USB tethering to work, and found that I don't have the "usbnet" module. Pkgfile tells me that linux and linux-lts both provide usbnet, but I can't find the module (in /usr/lib/modules/...) at all (I'm on the 3.6.10-1 kernel, just reinstalled it from the repositories to make sure). I checked the file list of the 3.6.9-1 kernel that I had in pacman's cache, and the module wasn't there either. Does anyone know why I'm not getting this module with my kernel?
Last edited by Ploink (2012-12-29 16:00:42)pacman -Ql linux | grep usbnet
linux /usr/lib/modules/3.6.10-1-ARCH/kernel/drivers/net/usb/usbnet.ko.gz
Edit: oops, I see you said you checked the file list. Sorry, I typed faster than I read. If you do not get similar output to this, then the linux package isn't properly installed.

Can't find nvidia driver for my HP Pavilion dv6000
Hello,
I just upgraded my laptop from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Starter.
But i can't find a NVIDIA driver for it.
My laptop name is Pavilion DV6000 and i have a 32 BIT.
Please can somebody help me?
VincentHi @viniboy007
I understand that you are looking for a driver for your notebook, and that you have upgraded to windows 7.
Please post the full product number for your notebook, so I can post a link to the supported drivers for your notebook.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
If there are not supported drivers for that product from HP, then it means the unit was never sold in that configuration. Then I would refer you to this page: What if I Don't See My Operating System?
The problem then is more about trying to find drivers that will work, that have not been customized by HP to work with the other components on the notebook.

Can't load nvidia module after kernel and nvidia update
After latest kernel (3.6.36.2) and nvidia (260.19.29) upgrade xorg doesn't work. I investigated a little, and that's what I found:
# modprobe nvidia
FATAL: Error inserting nvidia (/lib/modules/2.6.36-ARCH/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.ko): No such device
I blacklisted nouveau module:
# cat /etc/rc.conf | grep nouveau
MODULES=(b43 vboxdrv !nouveau)
but it didn't help.

I'm importing CD's to an external hard drive, but I can't find the folders. I've changed the Folder Location to the external drive, and I'm not copying them into the Music Folders. They don't seem to be saved on the external drive, nor are they in the Music Folder in the internal Hard Drive. They're playing OK, even though a few full CD's are not automatically playing unless I find their original location.
Should I load the iTunes.app into the External drive? How can I ensure that the songs are loading on the external drive and not the internal drive? If they are saved on the internal drive, how can I transfer them to the external drive, and have them play regularly? I have this external drive for the exclusive purpose of saving my music, and I'd like to import quite a few more cd's, but I'm waiting to make sure that I'm doing it correctly.
Thank you, in advance.I appreciate your help, but I realize that I need to be more specific.
I burned several CD's onto my orginal Mac Hard Drive. Weeks later, I added the external hard drive via a USB port. Then I copied the iTunes Music Folder (the original music files) to the external Hard Drive, and put the original into the Trash. Now when I import new CD's, it saves them to my external drive by default, which I chose through--Change Folder Locations. All of this is fine, it's what I want.
1) When I choose iTunes, and go to the Library, all the songs are listed, original and new. However, it won't play all of the songs. It asks to find it in the original location, but only a few of the folders are listed, a few of the originals and all of the newly imported CD's.
2) When I import new CD's, how can I be assured that it's saving them on the external drive only. If the CD takes, let's say 500MB, it doesn't seem to register as taking up 500MB of space on the external drive.
What does consolidating the Library mean?
I know it may sound complicated, but I feel it's an easy problem to alleviate, and I'm missing some simple step.
Again, thank you in advance. -
Hi everyone:
I just can't find the <s:Module>, is there any chance to use <s:state> and <s:transitions> in <mx:module>
It is very strange..
thanksNot everything is available at the moment in spark but over time more and more mx functionality will end up in the spark set. FB2 is much better at dealing with the mixing of mx and spark and this will keep improving as bugs are ironed out
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Module xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/halo" layout="absolute" width="400" height="300">
<fx:Declarations>
<s:Animate />
</fx:Declarations>
<fx:Script>
<![CDATA[
]]>
</fx:Script>
</mx:Module>
the above is the basic mx module it still will allow you to mix spark and mx, so yes you can use mix and match, the caveat being that at the moment you may run into some issues but thats what testing is all about. If you have any problems you can always put your code up for others to look at, if it is a compatibility issue then it can be listed as a bug.

Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Software tells me to update driver, can't find newer dri
Hardware: Audigy 2 ZS PlatinumDriver: version 5.2.4.96Creative MediaSource DVD-Audio Player: version 2.00.75?I recently purchased a new DVD-Audio title, and when I insert it into the?dri've and open Creative MediaSource DVD-Audio Player I get the following message:?"Your software needs updating to be able to play this DVD-Audio title. Please visit www.creative.com to get the latest driver release."?According to auto-update and my manual search, I have the most recent version of both the DVD-Audio player and the driver. I reinstalled the driver just to be certain, but I still get the same message. Is there a newer driver release and I am simply looking in the wrong places? Is there something else I need to download to let me listen to this title?As I've opened the media I cannot return it, and I do not have another DVD-Audio player to test it in. This seems like it should have a simple solution, but I can't find it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
I just recently encountered this issue as well. According to an Apple Support article you can not use Migration Assistant from a computer using Tiger (OSX 10.4) to a computer using Mountain Lion (10.8) You must use file sharing and then copy the files you want to migrate on the new computerHere is the article address

Can't find this module. Please help!
I want to edit this module, but can't find it on the Module Template, Content Holders nowhere...
module_productfeaturelist,featured,100,Default,,true
Please help. Thank you!!Hello,
That module is detailed here: http://kb.worldsecuresystems.com/134/bc_1345.html - search for module_producfeaturelist
Specifically, the last parameter determines which layout it used. If it's set to true, the small product backup layout is used - and you can find that under Module templates - > Online Shop layouts. Or if you're using FTP, under Layouts->online shop.
Thanks,
Florin Carlig -
I cannot get the module to work on Bridge. I am using a Mac. Bridge version 6.0.1.6
I followed the instructions to put it on very carefully but cannot find it in my bridge window. i have put a screenshot of my window here. I checked as per some suggestions that I had checked the option in 'Startup Scripts' in Bridge preferences. I can see the AOM folder in the Bridge CC Extensions folder so I really don't know why I can't find it in BridgeHi Diego:
In your Mac Pro the Apple Prores codecs are available in the render options and in the Mac Book Pro don´t?
(Speedgrade has got several presets like Cineon, Prores4444, TGA, DPX or AJA by default in the render tab, but you can change and save your presets and export codecs if you like.
There are a "Other" button in the "Options and Format settings" in the render tab. You can select the "Other" button to look several options and change the codec in the Quicktime tab settings) -
Optical Drive can't find Adobe Creative Suite 6 disc
As written in the topic, my optical drive can't seem to find my Creative Suite 6 Master Collection disc.
(I am using Windows 7 Ultimate)
Every other disc I tried from BD to DVD-ROM or even CD-ROM worked perfectly fine.
The disc itself is in a good condition (no scratches and such) when I try to open it manually it sais "no disc found" and the drive opens itself so I can insert a disc.
When I tried to force autorun with "run" it gave me the same message "no disc found".
Anyone with ideas how to solve this problem?download the installation files.

IPW2100 driver can't load the module
Hi everybody,
I have an centrino Dell Inspiron 8600 and I'm trying to make working wireless hardware. I noticed that the installing of the ipw2100 with pacman produces a new directory in the /lib/modules
It's different than my kernel, seems stock kernel directory,
I'm using a compiled kernel and when I try to load the module it doesn't load it and all I see are just a couple of warnings.
My questions are:
Have I to use an stock kernel?
If yes where can I find some HowTo that explains how to use it?
(I don't like 800x600 terminal, by compiling I can decide to use 1024x768)
If not, have I to use source? I seems strange, I mean, what's pacman for? :?
Thank you guysOk, I used abs to compile my new module, now I have my module in the right place.
but when I try to load it happen this:
[root@sanctuary arael]# modprobe ipw2100
FATAL: Error inserting ipw2100 (/lib/modules/2.6.11/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/ipw2100/ipw2100.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

dmesg output is this:

Slightly OT, but in the interest of getting you back to the stock kernel - it shouldn't be necessary to recompile the kernel simply to change screen res. What prompted you to do it?
When I use stock kernel I can't recompile it...I mean it's precompiled ... or not? :?
To have 1024x768 login shell I can specify during "make menuconfig ncurses screen"... But when I use stock kernel what should I to do, pass to lilo right parameters? Othervise the default is 800x600 and I don't like it to much...but this is just my preference...and is not important...
Using ipw2100 and kernel26 precompiled does't change the situations. I have my module in the right place but modprobe says that there isn't a module called ipw2100...
To use linux I guess that people should be very smart or a guru...and supose that this is not too much my case. :?
I have also an hp usb printer that doesn't works and I don't understand why. I have to use windows to print. It's very frustrating have hardware but not be able to make it work.... -
Unexplained 100's GB's of data on Hard Drive (can't find)
Hi there folks
Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction with this.
Today my iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014) ran out of hard disk space. I managed to recover well over 100 GB of space, as the way I had my Garageband files saved was taking up a silly amount of space, (just learning how to use the app and as such my files were huge).
OSX Yosemite 10.10.2
Processor 3.5 Ghz Intel Core i5
Memory 8GB 1600 Mhz DDR3
Graphics AMD Radeon R9 M290X 2048 MB
However, I still have about 440-500GB of missing/unaccounted for files that I simply can't find depending on the software I use to look at my used storage.
After googling the problem today, I downloaded both OmniDiskSweeper and Disk Inventory X to see if I could trace the issue.
Here are some screenshots of my storage.
OmniDiskSweeper Results
About This Mac Results
Finally the results from Disk Inventory X
The issue is definitely centred around these "other" files that I can't trace. My movies, music and pictures file sizes "feel" about right, as I have all my family photos and home movies on the mac along with all my CD's that I have imported.
So according to Omni Disk Sweeper I have used up 929GB of space, leaving only 185GB of free space, but when I look at my home directory using this program, I have used 456.5GB of space, quite a big difference (472.5GB difference).
About This Mac says I have used up 925GB (largely accounted for in these "other" files at 500GB) leaving only 185Gb of space free.
Disk Directory X says I have used up 865GB of space leaving only 173GB of free space, but the home directory again shows I have used a lot less than this at 425GB (440GB difference).
So what ever way you cut it, I seem to have hundred of GB's of data on my Mac that are not in my home directory. How do I trace them to get rid of them or a least work out what they are should I need to keep them?
Any help on what I should try next would be greatly appreciated, as I am past my ability to look further.Where it really messed up was the time I turned on the computer and started iTunes without turning on the LaCie. When I discovered what I'd done, I quit iTunes, powered up the LaCie, then after a few minutes, opened iTunes and checked that it was still the destination in preferences. I still had a bunch of songs now marked unable to locate. Then, when I find the original and import, it doesn't import all of the track information. I end up just having to re-import the original source cd. AArrrgghhh!!!

My mac is slow. How can it run more efficiently?
I find that my 2 year old Macbook Pro is super slow and just started to run slow about 4 months ago. It takes a long time to load and execute programs. Is there anything that I can do at home to allow the computer to run faster?
