Attach a file to a document using metadata

Hi experts
We have a problem related with metadata. Our business case is to create a custom metadata for documents in KM. This metadata should allow users to attach related documents to an existing document in KM (the document we are creating or modifying).
We tried to implement this business case by the following way:
We created a new Property metadata of type String and assigned an attachment property renderer. While uploading a file, we got an attachment UI so that users can attach other documents (by uploading them or by linking to existing documents in the KM folders). After saving parent document with all this metadata, we try to display document properties, and all custom properties are displayed but not the attachment property/related documents...
Is the attachment renderer designed for this purpose? Or maybe do we forgot to customize something? We haven't found any documentation/samples about predefined properties and renderers...
Any help/suggestion is welcome...

Insert image file to word document using active X

Hello,
I would like to insert an image into my word document (at the end). The image is saved as a bmp file and I'm using LV 8.2.1.
I would like to do this using Active X (without using report generation toolkit).

Hi J.
The method to use is Inline shapes (Add pictures). I have linked an example. You will have to configure it in order for it to be at the end of your document but that shouldn't be a problem for you.

iam able to send a mail using the inbuilt package but unable to attach a file.

The APEX_MAIL package doesn't support sending emails with attachments.

Exception while retrieving deleted document using metadata based query

I am using dbxml 2.4.11 on Mac OS 10.5. My xml documents are stored in the dbxml with some metadata. Index on metadata is built. After delete a document I get an exception (error code is DATABASE_ERROR) while trying to use metadata based query:

As name and value of the metadata I use kind of Id. If I use the query with a never before existing Id, I get the expecting error code DOCUMENT_NOT_FOUND, which is ok.

I use now version 2.4.16, built a new database, but I can't found any records using the code mentioned above. First I thought there would be problem on Mac, tried to install the whole database and app on linux, but the problem still persists. The query I am using is:

(Switching back to 2.4.11, I find the records inserted)

Using Windows Life or Hotmail, when attaching a file it crashes. Using Firefox 9.01. Please advise how to correct.

Recently when using Windows Live or Hotmail, when I try to attach a file it crashes. I am using Firefox 9.01. These are not big files. I need this feature for work. It happens about 90% of the time. If I close Firefox and start again, I can sometimes attach a file, and then the next time it will crash.
Error says plugin-container.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. Then another window opens and says - The Silverlight plugin crashed.

How to attach PDF files to invoice document from ECM.

Hi Gurus,
We have one requirement in that around three million invoice pdf files are there in ECM system. we need to attach those pdf files(GOS) to existing invoice document in SAP.as we searched in SCN we found one function module ARCHIVE_CONNECTION_INSERT. for this function module we need pass mandatory import parameters as SAP object ID ,Document ID and some other variables(object type, doc.type , repository ID).
My problem is how can I find the value of respective SAP object ID and Document ID form ECM system. and how can I match the SAP object ID and Document ID.
please help on this.

Hello,
Check with Global document type is maintained for the PDF you are looking for in OAC2. You will find the Document type, for the respective object type, check in OAC3. Content Repository is the archiving ID. Search by the archiving ID.

Possible to save files in My Documents using JavaScript?

I have a customer who wants his users (service technicians) to be prompted to save a PDF form they fill out, print, and sign for their customers. It's easy to set the File>Save As action for the form button, but my customer wants to know if it's possible to always have the form saved to My Documents.
I've searched the form and haven't been able to find any discussion on this. I can't imagine how to do it, since My Documents is inside the user profile... but was wondering what people who actually know what they're talking about (as opposed to me, that is) might have to say.
If it is possible to do what my customer wants, can you point me to any existing code or reference sources?

But I have two problems with this...
The first is that I ran several Google site-searches and Adobe searches, but did not find any document*** named Acrobat JavaScript API Reference, even though it is also directly referenced in the Acrobat 9 help (listed there as JavaScript™ for Acrobat® API Reference, but I've searched using broader terms such as API reference and other combinations, and it simply did not come up).
I did find the companion "Developing Acrobat® Applications Using JavaScript". But it's overwhelming, and I don't know what chapter(s) contain the information I need to throw together a proper working script for what I need.
That's the other problem.
I do not know JavaScript. I know how to include it but not how to write it. Everywhere I look, the blanket response to newbie JavaScript questions is to dump the wad of documentation in the asker's lap, expecting them to sit down and read it "cover to cover." I now have a long-overdue project and I need help, fast. I don't have time to learn JavaScript from scratch! -- If I did, I wouldn't be asking these questions! I'd be figuring it out myself.
This is becoming very frustrating. Won't somebody please help me out, or tell me exactly what pieces of code I need to put in and where I need to put it? I can at least go look up the syntax, as long as I know what to look for.
EDIT: *** Now that I've written that, I ran the Adobe search tool again and found the PDF version, which is what I was looking for. The saveAs samples make no sense to me, and I keep trying to dig back through the documentation to figure out what the heck it's talking about. It's a quagmire. The documentation is barely understandable; it's very poorly worded, and every sentence is thick with unfamiliar concepts for a n00b -- and I'm a tech writer!

If I attach a file to an email using Firefox it is received jumbled up but not so if I send the same file with Safari

By jumbled I mean letters, symbols, punctuation marks etc. Total nonsense. If I scan a document then e.mail it using Firefox as my browser, when opened it is a jumble. If I take that same scanned document and e.mail it out using Safari it opens up completely legible. This is new stuff only since today. Heretofore Firefox has been terrific.

In Mail's menu, go to Edit > Attachments > Always send windows-friendly attachments and click it.
Attachments may appear embedded in the email on your end, but should appear as standard Windows attachments on the recipient's end.

How to read ZIP files(having PDFs,Image) using MQ Series link for R/3

1)Is it possible to transfer a zip file (having an image or pdf) using IDocs in SAP 4.6C using MQ Series link for R/?
Scenario: "MQ Series link for R/3" converts Business-Reports from a third-party software,into SAP IDocs.Each Business-Report contains one XML file and one ZIP file.
2)Being on ABAP side,do I have to worry about how the zip file would be converted into IDocs?

Unfortunately you can't. But other apps will allow it, like Goodreader. Goodreader is free and lets you open PDFs which can then be emailed. Pages, which is a document-layout programme also allows documents to be emailed within itself.
