Attaching Javascript function to Buttons in XML forms

Hi Nitesh,
If you use a label with style urBtnStd urTxtStd you can make a link that
looks like a button which will fire the URL in the Hyperlink property. The
XMLFB tries real hard not to let you put Javascript in there for security
reasons. I tried some attribute tailgating, but it filters those kinds of tricks
out. (This is where you try to try to sneak in another attribute at the end
of one attribute value by inserting a quote character). You could also
hand patch the XSL, but this will get overwritten with the next build of
the XMLFB project.

In the Attributes of a screen field, there is an attribute called "Groups". This has 4 options for input (4 text boxes)
SCREEN has 4 fields GROUP1, GROUP2, GROUP3 and GROUP4.
The first text box under Groups attribute corresponds to SCREEN-GROUP1,
2nd text box for SCREEN-GROUP2
3rd text box for SCREEN-GROUP3
4th text box for SCREEN-GROUP4

Creating radio buttons in XML Forms Builder

Hi Samer,
So taking the example for the slides, you need first to create a new child under DataModel for the DataSchema. You can name it "Gender".
Click on the Radio Button in the Toolbar and drag "Gender" from the left hand site into the Edit Form.
It should have already a first radio button and in the box on the bottum right you should see the reference in the Schema Reference field (/DataShema/DataModel/Gender).
You can now drag a second button from the toolbar and place it behind the first one. Make sure you add the same value in the Schema Reference field.
On the Show form or RenderListItem you need a Control Selector as mentioned on slide 18. You can just use right mouse click -> Add. Go on the new item on the right hand side, and click on "Add Multiple Labels". You can choose now how many radio buttons you have, here 2.
In our example enter in one Label "Condition" = "true" and "Label" = "Male" and in the other "Condition" = "false" and "Label" = "Female".
Finally, make sure that the Control Selector has the Schema Reference also as defined above (/DataShema/DataModel/Gender).

WAD: Add variable to a called javascript function on button group item

Hi All,
I need your expertise regarding the following problem:
To increase performance, I've decided to hide all analysis tables. To set these tables to visible, there is a button to switch the state for each table.
Because this function is needed for each table, the function has two parameters for the analysis item name and the new state.
Unfortunately, I get an useless error message after calling the function.
The function in script item looks like
function switchTable(itemName, newState)
The function is started by a button of a button group item as javascript and the following script function
switchTable('ANALYSIS_ITEM_1', 'VISIBLE')
If I enter a without parameters, that will call the function with these parameters, it works.
But if i try this directly from the script function in the button parameters, the function will be called correctly, but an error occurs and the analysis item wasn't displayed or the sendCommand wasn't processed completely.
I hope there is a way to call javascripts by a button with variables, otherwise I would have to create many functions with only an other item_ref.

One short note:
It's possible to trigger the same function by an html input form button with onlick switchTable('ANALYSIS_ITEM_1', 'VISIBLE')
and this works.
Has anyone an idea what's the problem with a normal button item of the button group item?
Another possibility is a menu item. The functions were called, but errors were shown.

Delete button in xml form

In the RenderListItem form, I did included two buttons :
- edit button to edit the news => work perfectly
- delete button to delete the news => the problem
When I click on the delete button, I receive the following message :
XML - Forms
Item /BvD-it SEPNews/Others/0056c04e-7c12-2a10-8185-c74e6f577c75.xml does not exist
but the file do exist.
When I click on the OK button (at the end of the message), the news is effectively deleted.
So this is functionnaly working, but it comes with a non relevant error message.

Hi ,
there are various ways of doing it..
You can try as the previous post says or also you can try When new block instance trigger and disable the item
using set_item_property , it all depends on when and how you want to diable that item.

How to make javascript submit a button instead a form

Hi ,
I plan to do a popup box using javascript
when user click on Yes , it will actually submit a button which actually submit a form because i want the action behind / binding to that button to be invoked.
if i submit a form only.. i think the method that bind to particular button wont be invoked.
How do i do that?

Custom Buttons in XML Forms

Hi Experts,
Is there a possibility to create a custom button like when i click the button mail should be sent to concerned person along with form.

To print or send email you can use Javascript in your form. In the show form insert a Label.
(--> in the code replace REF by HREF --> if I put HREF in my post it doesn't work...?)
To print insert

in the Caption and set property Display HTML to yes.
The same to send mail but put
<A REF="
mailto:yourmailaddress?suject=Support request">
Click to mail</A>
to create a mail to [yourmailaddress] with subject "Support request".
(check mailto syntax for further options).

Calling javascript function from report customization form

I have been unable to call any user-defined javascript function from Portal Report Customization forms.
Even a simple Message Box function doesn't work. I've been placing my code in the ..after header PL/SQL section for the report customization form.

I have verified in plain html that my syntax is fine. Even the syntax rendered by portal is correct:

Despite this, you will get a javascript error that an Object is expected, MsgBox not defined. Clearly from the script above MsgBox is defined.

Error in Browser field of XML Form

Hi All,
We have recently upgraded our portal system from NW 7.00 (SP23) to NW 7.01 (SP09).
Post upgrade we are facing an issue in XML forms for file browser element.
On the XML forms we have an element u201Cfile browseru201D which we use for attaching documents as attachments in the XML forms.
After upgrade, when we select a document using this element u201Cfile browseru201D, the file path is getting uploaded in the field without the file name. Hence after saving the XML forms when we try to display it and open the attachment in the XML forms, it is giving the following error.
The folder you are looking for has no displayable content. You can try one of the following:
u2022 Access the folder using the Navigation user interface.
u2022 Access the folder as a Web folder. Your operating system and browser dictate whether or not this will work.
Example : Suppose we are attaching a file f1.xls in /documents/images folder, the path captured in the browser textbox is /documents/images (it should be /documents/images/f1.xls).
This was working fine before the upgrade to NW 7.01 SP09.
Our system is already running LIVE on production and we are facing major issues due to this problem. Kindly provide a solution at the earliest.

Where can we change the XML code of the XML form ?

Hi,
In KM folder "/etc/xmlforms" you will find a folder with the same name as your XML Forms Builder's project.
There are *.xml and *.xsl files for each of defined views (Edit, Show, RenderListItem) in this folder.
You may modify any of these files, the changes will have affect immediately after new version of file is uploaded.
But remember DO NOT USE "Generate project" button of XML Forms Builder anymore, otherwise your changes will be discarded.
The simplest way to develop and debug .xsl files is to connect "/etc/xmlforms/your_project" folder by Portal drive and copy xsl files from local computer directly to the KM.

How do I add a functional "submit button" to a pdf form in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI ? I created the pdf form in Adobe Forms Central. It's for an online Diet Questionnaire. After people complete the form I'd like them to click "SUBMIT" and the completed form will be emailed to me.

This can be a bit confusing because Acrobat 11 comes with the desktop app that allows you to create simple PDF forms without having a FormsCentral account. Some people find this helpful, but you need to understand that when you generate the PDF form, it is Reader-enabled by Acrobat. In order to edit the form further in Acrobat, you have to create a non-enabled copy of the form. You do this in Acrobat by opening the form and selecting: File > Save a Copy
and opening the copy. It is not opened automatically.
You can now add a button and set it up to submit by email, either using a "Submit a form" action or the submitForm JavaScript method. You can set it up to include just the form data or the entire PDF, and will want to use a mailto type URL. Submitting the form to the FormsCentral server has a number of important advantages over email (much more reliable, more secure, etc.), so you might want to consider it.
If the form needs to be saved with Reader versions prior to 11, then you will need to Reader-enable the document. In Acrobat 11 you do this by selecting: File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools

XML Form builder - Issue with Reset button

Hi Experts,
Using xml form builder I have created a project.In the show form I have added the "Reset" button.
This reset functionality is working fine during creation of new xml file item.
But when I am editing the existing xml file , onclick of the "Reset" button it is not clearing all the data fields instead it is clearing the newly added data.
Please sugguest me how to achieve this functionality of clearing the fields during editing existing file item.

XML Form Builder-Problem with the save button

Hi All,
I created a project in XML Form Builder.
I included a button "Save" in my project.
All is working fine when i preview my project in XML Form Builder.
The problem is when i run my project with iview.
I suppose the form to save my input and then to be closed but
unfortunately it did not.
I don't know where the problem is as in the XML Form Builder everything seems ok.

There is no javascript error in the form.
In the status bar when i have my mouse over the button i can see "javaxcript:HrefSubmit('save',"");"
And when push the button "Transering Data..."
I created the form in the Xml Form Builder and in preview there the project works.
What do you mean "Did you access your Form using the KM Admin Explorer via a comman?"
How can i have acess there?

How to call javaScript function in the form from Action:Tab buttion in workspace

Hi,
I want to trigger JavaScript function that I have written in form from Action: buttons in workspace user's account.
Is there any way that if i hit a button on action bar, it fire a javascript function.
Reason is: I dont want to place button on the form to perform any action on the form. I want to take control of the form from these buttons. Like submit, edit a form, etc, etc..
Please let me know if i couldnt explain it properly.

Sunil, you want to look at the "Customizing the LiveCycle® Workspace ES User Interface" document at http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/customizeworkspaceui.pdf. The workspace is a Flash component. For ES4 there's an option to run the workspace in HTML5 which might be more productive long-term.
