Attaching photos from iphoto in an email

I have organized my photos in iphoto so that I can find the photos I want easily. However, when I try to send photos as attachments in an email, the photos are organized by date. I have tried renaming my photos in iphoto, but when I try to send attachments, the new names to not appear, and I have to guess the number (P1010026_2.jpg). Why do my folders not appear the same in the iphoto program and in the Finder window? Is there any way that I can get these to match so that it is easier to find my photos for attachments?

why don't you select the photo(s) in iphoto , then Share-email ?
or you can select them & drag to the open message window. Use F9 to find the message window if it's not visible - drag the photos over it until it opens, then let go the mouse button.

  • How to attach photo from iPhoto to an email?

    Hello,
New to iMac, iPhoto etc. Is there a way to attach a photo to an email from iPhoto? If I click on iPhoto Library after clicking "attach" in an email, it doesn't give me access to the actual pictures...
    Thanks!

Don't click on the iPhoto Library. Have a look at the first one of these:
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • How do I copy several photos from IPhoto to an email

How do I copy several photos from IPhoto to an email?

    Hello sfbates41,
Thank you for thinking of Apple Support Communities for your support needs.
To copy several photos from iPhoto into an email, first you need to select them, then you can drag them over into the email message or start an email from there.
    iPhoto 9.5: selecting photos
To select a photo, click it. A selected photo has a yellow border.
Here are other ways to select photos:
To select more than one photo, hold down the Command key while you click each photo.
    Drag to select multiple photos.
To select a continuous range of photos, click the first photo, and then press the Shift key while you click the last photo.

    1.  Email photos
Select the photo (or photos) you want to send.
You can send photos from your photo library or an album, but not from a slideshow or a project (such as a book, card, or calendar).
    2.  In the toolbar, click the Share button, and then Mail.
    3.  If this is the first time you’re using iPhoto to email photos, select the email account you want to use, click Setup, complete the requested information, and then click Save.
If you don’t see your email provider, click Cancel and follow the steps in the task below to set up your email account.
Your photos appear in the email window, presented in a theme.

  • Hi, I can't email photos from iphoto as the email server doesn't recognise my password / username combination... any ideas how i fix this?

Hi, I can't email photos from iphoto as the email server doesn't recognise my password / username combination... any ideas how / where i fix this?

Go to iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and delete the email account there.  Then add it back again.
If that fails you can set Mail at the email client for iPhoto in iPhoto's General preference pane. Mail is more reliable, gives you a sent copy and has better access to your contacts. It also has photo templates if you need them.  They are in the stationary selection menu.

  • Attaching photos from iPhoto to gmail account

This may not be an iPhoto issue and rather an email issue but since I do not know how to fix the problem maybe someone here will....
When I attach a photo from iPhoto and send it via my gmail account and the receiver opens the attachment the picture is massive and cannot be seen in one screen. You have to scroll to see the entire picture but you are never able to see the entire thing at once. How do I get the picture to open the size of the current screen and no larger?
    Thanks, KL

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Read TD's treatise on file access for use outside of iPhoto.
That being said I believe there's a GMail plugin available: Digg - iPhoto Plugin: iPhoto2Gmail. You can give it a try.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Attaching photos from iPhoto

Each time I attempt to attach a photo to an email message I am ready to tear out my scarce hair. I select iPhoto Library, but when trying to track down the photo, I get only "01" "02" etcetera. If I click on one of these numbers, I get even more numbers. Aside from sending photos via iPhoto, is there a simple way to find the photo I am seeking?
    TIA
    PB 1.5 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Ralphie,
Are you using iPhoto 5 or iPhoto 6? iPhoto 5 would have those numbers (dates) but not iPhoto 6.
Anyway, you open iPhoto, select an image, then hit the email icon in the toolbar.
You must first have selected your email client in iPhoto's preferences.
If you don't use an email client and use a web interface instead, like google mail, yahoo, mail or thunderbird, then you must export the image to the desktop, then navigate to your desktop with the web software and choose the image to upload.

  • Why can't I upload photos from iPhoto to an email in gmail?

The folder where the file is located will not show in finder when trying to choose photos to upload to a gmail email.

Upload directly from iPhoto. Select your photos and then select Share. iPhoto questions are best handled in the iPhoto forum of all places.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
The ! or ? turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
The most common cause of this is User Activity in the iPhoto Library Folder in the Finder.
Have you altered, moved or renamed anything in the iPhoto Library Folder?
If you haven't, then try rebuilding the database. Hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
Why are you looking for files in the iPhoto Library Folder?

  • When I paste a photo from iPhoto into an email, it pastes a URL that is invalid instead of the picture.  Is there a setting I can change to fix this?

It started doing this after my husband had to partition the hard drive to support Windows files. I had no trouble previously.  I'm not talking about the Share feature, just simply selecting a photo in iPhoto, clicking "command" then "c" to copy and clicking "command" then "v" in the body of an email to paste the photo.  Instead of the photo appearing I now get a URL to the local link on my hard drive, which of course the recipient of the email can't access.  Help...

Use the supported methods of getting the Photo into the mail message, via the Share menu or the Media Browser.

  • Trying to send photos from iphoto 11 in email.

I am trying to send some pictures from iphoto 11.  I use the share option and click on email.  It comes up using the apple mail program, but when I try and sent the email I get this message:
Your email did not go through because the server did not reply.  Check your Internet connection. If the connection is working properly, the email server may be down. Try sending your email again later.
Apple Mail works fine by itself for both incoming and outgoing messages.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    I have Mac OS X 10.7.5
    iPhoto 11 9.4.2
    Thank you.

Is there something I can "click" to move it to that forum.  To be honest, this was the first time I have done this.  I have usually just googled everything and found my answers.

  • How can i stop attached photos from being in the email body?

I try to send pics often to places for printing and icloud puts them into the body of the email instead of as an attachment. THis can be quite annoying. Advice pleas,   Thank Carol

When sending from your Mac, when composing the email click on Attach.  In the choose file dialoge, try checking the box that says "Send Windows Friendly Attachments".  From you iOS device, this happens automatically.
The message may still look as if the photo is embedded rather than attached, but on a Windows computer it will appear as an attachment.  (On a Mac it will appear to be embedded but the attachment can be saved by control-clicking on the image.)

  • Attaching photos from iPhoto 7.1.2 to Entourage/Office 08

In iPhoto I have chosen Entourage as my email application for mailing pictures. After I installed Office 08 I encountered a problem: When choosing not to have titles and comments, the chosen pictures do not attach to the new email, and iPhoto locks/does not respond. I had to force quit iPhoto and restart it. If I leave the checkmarks for titles and comments, it works fine. I have tried it several times with the same result, and a friend with the same applications and versions has experienced the same problem. Is this a iPhoto 7.1.2 problem or is it Microsoft/Entourage? I have been sending photos this way for several years without a problem.

I have not heard of this but then not many people are still on 7.1.2 and using Office '08 - I would first suggest that you get up to date to iPhoto version 7.1.4 - if that does not help leave the checkmarks for titles and comments and report the problem to Apple - iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback and to Microsoft
