Attempting to install Unity, but I can't, possible install error

Long story short, I've installed Arch 3 times, but I can't get it to work properly.  I followed the beginner's guide with everything that I thought was correct, but I couldn't get it to work.  Here is every command I did, with a bit of an explanation:

#At this point I am considered done, so I exit, restart, and use a GRUB liveUSB to get back to my Arch install, as for whatever reason grub has been failing to be detected lately, I'll resolve that later though. I want to get my OS working first.
Once I get back into Arch, I open /etc/pacman.conf and add the appropriate entries as listed above several times (aka [Unity-for-Arch] and [Unity-for-Arch-Extras]). I then run
pacman-key --init
pacman-key --populate archlinux
pacman -Syu/Syy
When I run pacman -Syu, I get this error:
error: failed to retrieving file 'Unity-for-Arch.db' from dl.dropbox.com : The requested URL returned error 404 Not Found
error: failed to update Unity-for-Arch (download library error)
Unity-for-Arch-Extra
: : Starting full system upgrade...
there is nothing to do
Not sure what needs to be done next, but if I can't get a simple install of a package that is confirmed working (by a friend), then I guess I'm going to go looking for another distro.  No amount of googling helps me, and I am not sure at all what the issue could be.  If more information is needed, I can get it.  I am hoping that the issue is that I did not install it correctly, can someone confirm that?  Thanks.

Arch is i686 or x86_64. Doesn't matter. Remove the url tags from pacman.conf, it should be "Server = http;//address".
Ubuntu makes it quite hard for other distros to use Unity (they patch their packages a lot), so installing it in Arch might not be that easy. https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=125423&p=106 mentions recent problems with libgee. The only way to have a non-problematic Unity desktop is to use Ubuntu, I guess.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
    Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • Help!!! I Reinstalled Tiger But I Can't Access My Files

    I reinstalled Tiger OSX 10.3 on my PowerBook G4 circa 2004. Now I have all sorts of unexplained problems.
    I can't open Safari or iTunes or Dictionary. When I try to open them, from the restored Desktop, nothing happens.
    I downloaded Tiger 10.4.11 and when I click on it, it attempts to open it but it can't. I click on the icon, it moves a tiny bit and nothing happens.
    Can anyone tell me what happened to my old files? When I rebooted and reinstalled from the original PowerBook G4 software install CD, I requested that my old files be archived. I can't find any of them except the Word files.
    Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

    Exactly which model PowerBook G4 is it?
    What is the Processor speed?
    What size is the Hard Drive, and how much free space is available?
    How much RAM is installed, and is it original or added?
    What type of internal Optical Drive is installed?
    Which version of OS, was pre-installed when maufactured?
    Which version were you using before this reinstall?

    What type of disc did you use?
    Was it the original install/restore that was shipped with the PowerBook, the Panther Install CDs, or a Tiger Install DVD?

    Several solutions:
    You can write a procedure or a function in that package that returns a Boolean and/or an error message.
    You can also, in your package, raise the RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR(), then trap this error in the Forms calling code, via the DBMS_ERROR_CODE and DBMS_ERROR_TEXT variables.

    I had many songs in my iTunes library that came from sources other than iTunes, mostly my own CDs. Plus, I have nearly $100 credit remaining in the iTunes store. I'm converned I will lose the songs and store credit if I reinstall iTunes. So my questions are:

    2. If I reinstall it, will I lose my store credit and non-iTunes songs?

    I am trying to reinstall Dreamweaver CS3 from the CD after having computer issues.  Now getting error "You can only install one Adobe product at a time.  Please complete the other installation before attempting to install ......."  There is no other Adobe product installing.  I have used the Adobe Cleaner Tool many times and uninstalled other Adobe Products but neither has worked.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled this CD version of Dreamweaver several times when changing computers and after having computer issues. A google search of the problem suggested it may be an error related to the number of times I can reinstall this product due to licensing issues.  Please help.

    Absolutely not. You are misinterpreting things. The activation check never happens when just running the installer, only much later. It means what it says - there is another "install" pending/ active on your system, meaning somewhere there is an (invisible) process still blocking things. Either way, since you haven't provided any real technical info, we can't advise specifically. if you are on Windows, you may want to check your task manager and terminate any setup.exe and msiexec.exe processes plus potentially may need to manually fix/ delete some registry keys. For anything beyond that you will have to be much more specific.

    Update: my PC USB hub was connected to a USB 3 port, I connected the 30 pin cable directly to my PC, And the restore worked just fine. Restored phone from iCloud backup and seems to be working fine.

    Hannahdb1 what specific Adobe applications are you attempting to reinstall?  Do you receive any specific error messages?  Finally what version of Mac OS are you using?

  • Attempting retail install CS6, but failed installation occurs every attempt on Win7x64

    First off, appologies for this post, I'm a bit flustered.
    New Win7x64 computer and an attempt to install retail CS6 have failed. I now get the following error message upon each install attempt:  "Installer failed to initialize.  File not found.  Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem".  I did, and with some internet issues I finally sent in a report.  I tried the Cleaner tool several times, no help.  I attempted to remove a registry entry as described in a "bootstrapper error" fix, but that particular "InProgress Key" does not exist.
    I even attempted to download and install a trial of CS6, but upon attempting to install I yet again recieved the same error message.
    What is my next move?
    As with anyone else with an issue, I just want to intstall CS6 and be on my way.  I also own retail LR3 and Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 (plug-in), but I will not attempt to install those UNTILL I can resolve the CS6 install issue.  I need all 3 of these programs, now.

    I solved my issue with a work around that I can live with, but I still have questions about why my CS6 disk would not install originally.
    Okay, I decided to create a new Admin User account and shut down AV.  In the new Amin user account I loaded the CS6 disk, I was returned with a":you must restart" error.  I did.  Re-loaded CS6, I got the installer, I got the ueula, I got the product key page, I finally got into the authorized product screen, then when trying to log in my log in stalled for 15 minutes.  Just a gray screen with no other options but to shut the install down with Task Manager.  I did, and waited for the program to end on it's own, and NOT selecting the End Now option.  I started the process again, got the the sign in and I stalled again.  The third time finally got me conected, and I was then able to instal CS6x64 on my New Admin User account.
    Once finished, I checked the program, good.  I then shut down and restarted, but logged onto my original Admin user account.  CS6x64 is there and fully functional, and plug in Silver Efex Pro 2 was added no problem. 
    So I am pleased I got the install working and I can fully use the program as intended, I still have questions about the issues that would not allow me to install normally.
    Thank you all for looking, and thank you Curt for your responces.  I think I will still call Adobe and run this by them.

  • HT4623 Has anyone had trouble installing 7.1 wirelessly on an ipad mini w/retina?  I downloaded the update, but when I attempt to install, I get an error message saying that I am not connected to the internet when I know that I am!

    It downloaded fine, but when I attempt to install it won't verify, saying that I am not connected to the internet when I know that I am!  Tried on several wifi connections while plugged into power source.  Any advice is appreciated!

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)

    Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
    Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
    You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.
