Attributes in Workflow

Hello everyone,
I would appreciate if someone can answer my question.
In my custom workflow, the user get a notification but i see that the "FROM" Label and the "DETAILS" Labels are empty. How to add appropriate values into those fields.

Hi,
Either define a default value for the attribute, or call the appropriate API (WF_ENGINE.SetItemAttr???), or populate an event parameter (if you are starting the process via a business event).

Virtual attribute in workflow template

Hi all,
I have crated a single line virtual attribute in BOR. When I test this virtual attribute at BOR level, its getting filled.
I am using this virtual element to pass from workflow container to task container. But I don't see it filled in workflow container.
Do i need to do anything explicitly to get the vauie of virtual attribute in workflow template?

Multiline attribute vs. table type based attribute in workflow container

Hi,
When we are talking about definition of workflow container attribute, you have to choose a type of attribute from a dictionary and have to decide if it is multiline attribute or single line (flat). If we want to define a multiline string-based attribute, we can do it in the following ways:
— define an attribute type of string and set checkbox on multiline;
— define an attribute table type of string and do not set checkbox on multiline.
My question is:
Is there any difference between these two approaches, described above (flat type + multiline vs. table type + single line)?

Need to pass user_id and password in URL item attribute of workflow

Hi Gurus,
I am facing an issue in creating an URL in workflow builder.
Basically i have created an URL Item type attribute with value

in workflow and above highlighted values are the dynamic paramers to open the standard JSP page. The above link works because it is user specific. Please let me know how to pass these dynamic parametsr like user_id, password, OAS,task_id to the URL?

You'll need to determine the values and populate the URL in a PL/SQL activity earlier in the process.

"List" type for attribute in Workflow

Hi, I need to set the value of an attribute in List type whose length is determined in the run-time, but it's not a built-in type in workflow. Any solution on this?
(Oracle 9i/workflow 2.6)

Issue Setting Resource Attributes via Workflow Process

I'm currently trying to set resource attributes via a workflow process, but for whatever reason the attribute is not detected as "changed" and the update object has nothing about the attribute. I'm wondering if I'm just doing something wrong with the way I'm setting it, or if I'm missing a piece to apply the upate.
What I'm doing is...
1. Checking out the user view
2. updating the attribute via code something like this...
<set name='user.accounts[ldap].attributeIWantToChange'>
Logic in here
</set>
3. then I'm checking the view back in.
Anyone know why this isn't working(I can set other attributes like waveset.roles fine this way)?

Figured it out, have to load a different form in when I check the view out, the tabbed user's form will not update resource attributes.

Trouble Getting Attributes into Workflow

I'm fairly new to Workflow and witting my first function. I'm having a bit of trouble getting attributes from a form to Workflow. I have define the attributes in PAAPINVW.wft through the workflow builder. In a function I used the API wf_engine.GetItemAttrText and wf_engine.GetItemAttrNumber to retrieve them. The problem is the attributes are coming in as Null values and I can see the values in the Form. What step(s) did I miss in retrieving the Form attributes? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,
You need to write something to populate the values - just creating the attributes to store them isn't enough.
You can either customize the form to include the attributes in the mechanism that initiates the workflow, or you can include an additional activity in your code to pick the values up from a table and store them in the workflow.

Respond attributes in Workflow notification

Hi
I added 4 respond attributes in my notification message. Now these parameters come automatically in the notification as input fields.
My question is that can we control the size of the input boxes that appear in the notification for these respond fields?

Agent assignment & Attribute for workflow template level.

Hi Friends;
As per my understanding we maintain Agent assignment at WF template level to provide security to WF task level so that the possible agents maintained there are only authorized for that task,
and if we maintain it as general task then every one is able to execute it.
But my concern is wht will happen if we wont do agent assignment at WF level and also not make it general task.

Hi Dev,
If you do not maintain the agent assignment at WF task level ( for the task which are not general task ), those users will not receive any work item.
For example user XXX is determined by some rule but he will not receive the work item until user XXX maintained at WF task level.

How to use different stylesheets for ChangeAttributeRequest workflow in OAM

Hi,
We have a requirement to invoke different change attribute request workflows (change password ,change email etc..) from external JSPs..
I want to apply different stylesheets for each workflow. In the workflow URL if i enter style=stylesheet-name its not using that stylesheet. Always its using the same base stylesheet (wf_changeattr.xsl). How can i use different stylesheets? Any pointers on this is appreciated.

I did a mistake by entering style=stylesheet-name. I verified the same with xsl=stylesheet-name.

Error with hyperlink to open a form in Workflow Notification

Hi All,
I am trying to create a hyperlink to open a form in Workflow Notification. I want to open "Prepare Mass Additions" form from my workflow. I am in R12 (12.1.3) and there is no parameters defined for this function.
So i am trying the method given here:

Below is a summary of steps from this blog:
Register a new custom form function with a parameter CREATE_BATCH_ID. Function name is XXFAXMADDS. Its just the seeded FAXMADDS form function, just with the addition of parameter.
Create an attribute of type ‘Form’ which stores the name of the form function and the parameter with which we want to call it. The default value of the attribute is XXFAXMADDS:CREATE_BATCH_ID=&BATCH_ID
In a workflow process include a notification message.
Associate the attribute with the notification message
Personalize the new form function, to add actions to assign the value of parameter to the form field, then goto the Find Button, and click it.
    When i click on the link in notification, I am getting the below errors:
    FRM-47023: No Such parameter named G_QUERY_FIND exists inform FAXMADDS
    FRM-40105: Unable to resolve reference to item PARAMETER:G_QUERY_FIND
    FRM-47023: No such parameter named CREATE_BATCH_ID exists in form FAXMADDS.
    Why is this error? Why it is referring to G_QUERY_FIND which i have not at all used?

Clearing cache or bouncing application did not help. And now i am noticing that the value of this attribute does not change according to the changes i make in workflow builder.
Also, i tried by updating the workflow attribute from Workflow Admin, retried the notification and tried the link again. No help.
I tried updating attribute to just the standard form function name, still same errors!

N-Step workflow for invoice

1. Is there a way to implement n-step (more than 2 )approvals for invoices? Can I use the same BADI for n-step approval for shoupping cart?
2. If a vendor is not on supplier portal is there a way send a offline RFQ and get the bid somehow in the system without having vendor being created in the system?

It is possible to copy the standard workflow and make you custom workflow acordingly.You just have to copy standards workflow and all subworkflow under this as well.You have to take care of attributes of workflow in same way as standard workflow.
Implementing a BADI - BBP_WFL_APPROV_BADI using SE18 Transaction is also feasible solution.
Invoice rejected in the invoice workflow.

UWL custom attributes are not retreived

We are trying to add some custom attributes to our UWL. We are able to see the new columns but they remain null. It seems that the values are not retrieved from the backend.
We have tried defining custom attributes from workflow container, from BOR object and even UM but without success.

How to give block trace in workflows?

I need to trace particular activities and action in work flows ..How can we give the <block trace =true>?
I am trying to give right after the <Activity> which resulted to error.

Thanks frogger.I tried this option..giving some import xml errors.I will keep update after troubleshoot.
Meanwhile I found another way to trace all workflows log activities.
Open System Configuration object in the debug
modified the below and exported.All workflow logs are writing to given file name workflow.log
