ATV2 and Manual Network Configuration Issue

Hi all,
Have 3 ATV2's in the house connected to latest gen TC via 5Ghz WiFi.  Works great with one exception.  From time to time, one of the ATV's loses the host iTunes library (connected via Home Sharing).  If I go the the host and restart itunes - all is well again.
My solution was to try manual IP's for all of the ATV's and the Mac Mini host.  Set the Mini to DHCP with manula IP- no problem.
However, when setting the ATV's, all three lose the "Movie" and "TV Shows" menu items as well as Youtube etc..  Meaning, they are obviously not connected to the WAN/Internet.  They CAN see the host shared library.
Yes, it would seem my static config is wrong, BUT, I used the numbers already populated when I swtiched from DHCP.  Would these numbers not be the ones assigned using DHCP?  Would it not be safe to assume that simply assigning these manually would retain the same connectivity?
I switched all but the host mini back to DHCP and all is well again.  However, I would like to go with a static set up.  Am I missing somehting?
Thanks in advance!
Stuart

Thanks for the reply!
When you say "you also need to assugn adresses from the router" what exactly do you mean?
with exception of Mac Adress Control, I don't see a setting anywhere in Airport Utility that would allow me to assign specific IP's to specific devices...
In the past, simply setting an IP manually on a device would make it static on the network.  No intervention on the TC was necessary.
Thanks again,
Stuart

  • Safari 3.0.4 Slow Loading (Manual Network Configuration)

    Hi Everyone,
I'm having problem with Safari loading very slow.
First, due to the need of configuring this MacMini to be shared with a network scanner, the Network IP address need to be configured manually. And since this is not a regularly-used computer, the monitor is being turned off when it's not in used.
The problem comes in when someone try to use Safari. It loads forever! and I mean forever! It seems like it's trying to look for something, but I don't know what!
Does this have anything to do with the manual network configuration and the fact that the screen being turn off?
Interestingly, I also have Firefox installed on this MacMini and it appears to have the same issue.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you,
    Nacintosh520

    Hi
Since you have confirm that "screen has no effect on computer or network operation." I'd like to ask you something about this but not related to the problem I'm posting here.
I configured my linksys router to have VNC access, port 5900 open and the IP address of the computer (Mac Pro) that I want to remote access to, and using Chicken of the VNC from a remote computer to access the Mac Pro. From time to time, when I turn off the monitor with the computer still running, I couldn't remotely access the MacPro with Chicken of the VNC; and when I check the MacPro to make sure that it's not turn of any reason, it's ON. This happens several times, so I suspect that turning of the monitor has something to do with the Network! Is my suspicious legit? Or is there anything else I don't know about in this problem?
I doubt that this lag in browsing operation has anything to do with the configuration of the Network Scanner, because the scanning goes through to the MacMini with no problem at the same time that Safari is acting up this way.
The Network scanner is a Kyocera Machine (Copier/Printer/Scanner). They mainly support PC, and our vendor doesn't know much about setting it up on Mac. We're so thankful enough to have it set up in the first place, needless to say setting up "correctly."
Could it be Mac OS X Tiger is still "sleeping" and not fully awake when the monitor is turned off? You know, like power saving feature of some sort. Just a guess.
    Thank you,

  • EA4500 – Smart Wi-Fi interface and Windows Network Map issues

I purchased this Router about 2 weeks ago as a phased upgrade of our Home Network, primarily to enhance media streaming. It has the latest firmware preinstalled from the factory. Prior to the purchase and installation of the EA4500 Router I replaced my old Motorola SurfBoard SB6120 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem with a Motorola SurfBoard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem. My old Linksys E2000 Router worked perfectly with the SB6141, with the exception that the E2000 wasn’t IPv6 enabled, but does have 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet (RJ-45) and Internet ports.
The EA4500 has been installed for about 10 days and seems to have improved local network speeds and I don’t seem to be having any Internet connectivity issues. However, there are some disturbing issues with the EA4500 and the AE3000 I purchased. There are 11 devices connected through the Router; a Dell Desktop (wireless with the AE3000), a Dell Desktop (Ethernet), a Dell Laptop (wireless), 2 Canon Printers (1 Ethernet and 1 Wireless), 2 Western Digital 1TB MyBookLive Network Drives (both Ethernet), a WD TV Live Streaming Media Player (wireless), an Apple TV media player (wireless), an iPad (wireless), and an Android Smartphone (wireless).
Issue 1 – The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi interface appears to be unreliable at times!!! I’ve read about this problem here on the Community involving the EA6500, so I don’t know if this is a Linksys Server issue, as suggested in a few responses, or a bug in the Router firmware, or defective hardware. However, when the interface locks up, it can’t be accessed from a wireless or wired connection. Usually, powering down the Router and then powering it back up and restart will allow it to function again. However, at times before the interface completely locks up it shows either just a white screen or the security screen will show no firewall features enabled. This is a little scary, so I’ll do a complete reset and setup; this is becoming a pain in the rear!!!!! Is there any hope for this being fixed, in this Router, not the next generation??????????
Issue 2 - All of my network devices show up in the Router’s Device List. Except for the Apple devices they also show up, when they are online, in Windows 7 Explorer under Network and when you click on Network they are correctly displayed as Computers, Media Devices, Network Infrastructure, or Storage. However, when you click on “Open Network and Sharing Center” and then click on “See Full Map”; it fails with the response “Windows cannot create the network map. Responses from other devices on the network are delayed or there is an incompatible router on the network”; no device map is shown. When I follow the link for more information, the only thing that stands out is “A device on the network, such as a hub or switch, is not working properly or is not compatible with the Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) protocol, which Windows uses to create the map. To fix this problem, disable the device, turn it off, or remove it from your network”. All of my network devices showed up on the Network Map with the old E2000. This issue is the same on all of my computers, either wired or wireless. Any known solutions for this, or is it as Windows suggests; an incompatible Router????
Thanks in advance for any insight or solutions. With the issues I’m having with the EA4500 and the AE3000; they are both probably going back to Amazon.

thebluemamba_24; Thank you for your suggestion; I finally found time yesterday to perform an extensive evaluation before I return the Router. However, rather than trying to add devices manually, my rationale was if the EA4500 can’t process them correctly, automatically, it needs to be returned anyway, so I added devices normally letting the device an Router handle the process.
In thinking through this issue, all devices on our network are detected and identified by Windows Explorer on Windows 7 computers; except of course the Apple and Android devices (Apple TV, iPad, and Smartphone). So, I wondered if one of those three devices being added to the Router’s device list was somehow causing issues or interfering with Windows 7’s ability to generate a Network Map. Therefore, my approach was to turn off or disable all devices on our network, reset the Router to factory defaults, reestablish the Router to my custom Home Network configuration using a Windows 7 PC that has LAN and Wireless access to the Router, then add one device at a time and check with each addition to see if Windows 7 could still generate a Network Map.
With the Router reset and reestablishment complete; I began the process of adding one device at a time and checking to see if a Network Map was being generated. What I discovered was when a recent addition to the network, a Western Digital WD TV Live Streaming Media Player, was connected (wirelessly), Windows 7 could no longer generate the Network Map and the failure was consistent. The only way to get the Network Map to work again was to remove power from the WD TV Live, although it remained in the EA4500’s Device List; simply turning it off didn’t help. Since I’d originally witnessed the Windows 7 Network Map working with the Linksys E2000 Router that the EA4500 replaced, I decided to test the WD TV Live with that Router. It worked initially, but it failed consistently after the first success. Interestingly, the failure indication was a little different, but nevertheless generation of the Network Map failed.
I’ve tried changing a few settings on the EA4500 as well as the WD TV Live, but nothing helped. There was a recent firmware update to the WD TV Live, so I might try rolling back the firmware to see if it makes a difference.
The Network Map issue might very well be an issue with the WD TV Live, not the Router, but after reading many threads on this Community I have reservations that the problems I’m experiencing with the Smart interface lockup will be fixed. I suspect new emerging replacement products will be the focus and these older products will be abandoned and no more firmware fixes will be forthcoming and I don’t want to spend more money for a new product just to fix old problems and get something that works properly. The Network Map issue is troublesome, but the lockup of the Router’s “Linksys Smart Wi-Fi” interface is a serious matter to me. It appears that once it locks up, the only way to correct it is a power off restart; not practical if you’re traveling and trying to access settings remotely; the selling point for this feature.
Given the problems I’m experiencing with the EA4500 and AE3000, I guess I’ll return them. Too bad, because otherwise the EA4500 seems like it’s a good Router. I’ve been brand loyal since the Linksys WRT54G came out, but after reading this Community and with my personal experience with the EA4500 and AE3000, now I’ll probably give the NETGEAR N900 equivalents a try.

  • Wireless printing with 2 (or more) printers + manual network configuring

    Here's my previous question:
Network configuration: Cable modem (Linksys)-Wired cable router (Linksys)-Airport Extreme Base Station. Wired cable router is used for VOIP phone which is left on 24/7. Base station is shut off when not in use. I had 2 printers, HP multifunction and Samsung color laser printer connected to the Airport via a USB hub, but I could only print from 1. The printer I wanted to use had to be ON and then the Airport turned on to recognize it. So, I purchased a dLink DPR-1260 wireless printer hub. It had to be configured with a Windows operating system, which I did with an XP business laptop. The printer hub had to be configured wired and then the Cat 5 cable removed. The IP address: 10.0.1.2 (dynamic) is what Airport gives whenever anything is plugged into that port. MAC address: 001E589D8035 (which is what the printer hub says on it). SSID is correct. Raw TCP port and LPR/LPD enabled. Re-established Firewall and WPA2 security. Both printers work fine (even scan on HP) wirelessly with Windows XP laptop.
However, neither printer works with either MAC (G5 or iBook) Although they both (HP & Samsung) appear to be ready and start the printing process by downloading percentages of the job.
New info: The IP address of the dLink (DPR-1260) print server is now 10.0.1.3 (Airport is 10.0.1.2) I can connect to 10.0.1.3 thru Safari (or Firefox) and see the device info. I can't configure there. dLink told me to manually configure in network preferences. Their instructions told me to manual change the print server address to 102.168.0.x (x not 10). Then make Appletalk active. When I tried to add the DPR-1260 on the network is said IP Config 10.0.1.3 in use by 00:1e:58:9d:80:35 I guess I need to start over. How can I add the DPR-1260 manually to the network?

    xee -
You have two simultaneous problems. Print Server setup, and network-capable CUPS driver required for each printer. Unless either printer is a postscript one, the drivers provided by the manufacturers are Carbon-type, limited to exactly what they programmed it for - probably USB only. That's why Airport Extreme/Express have an advantage over other print servers - Apple has put Mac-to-Mac printer sharing into Extreme/Express, so a USB-only driver works over the network. Other print servers require use of the industry-standard comm protocols LPD or raw port 9100 (=HP Jetdirect) or IPP. Those standard protocols are provided by CUPS and you have to use a CUPS driver with them.
    Make it work:
    1. Allow the print server to get its IP address just as it has.
    2. Install CUPS drivers:

  • Host and VMs network configuration

    Hi,
We have additional Network cards on the Host hyper-v server. Does it make sense to configure Host and VM network
    in this way?
Host network configuration for Hyper-v virtual network switch:
    1NIC  ---
    2NIC  --- host_team_1
    3NIC ---
    4NIC --- host_team_2
    VM network configuration:
    host_team_1 ---
    host_team_2 --- VM_team_1
Would we benefit from this configuration?
    Thanks

It has to be in this way:
    1NIC  ---
    2NIC  --- host_team_1
    3NIC ---
    4NIC --- host_team_2
    VM network configuration:
    host_team_1 ---
    host_team_2 --- VM_team_1
I understand your point. Just idea is if we have 4 physical NICs on host server for VMs, to configure 2 teams on host server and then one team on virtual machine.

  • Upstream and Downstream Server Configuration Issues

    Hello
We're trying to configure an upstream and downstream server infrastructure.  We believe that we have this configured and working properly but our issue is that local clients and servers are appearing on the downstream server and not the upstream server.
It would be useful for all clients to be managed from the upstream server to reduce administration time.
We manually assign computers to groups and use Group Policy to specify the client configuration. The client and server settings have these keys specified:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
Name: WUServer    Type: REG_SZ    Data: (Downstream Server)
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
Name: WUStatusServer    Type: REG_SZ    Data: (Upstream Server)
To me, this should mean that clients only get updates from the downstream server and are conmpletely managed from the upstream server but maybe it doesn't work that way?
All downstream servers are set to replicas.
Can anyone help?  I'm sure you shouldn't have to assign every client to group at downstream level.  I have thought about using GPO to assign to groups but it would be complicated with our structure due to testing containers and I think I would
    have the same result.
Basically, I would like to assign computers to groups from all sites using the upstream server only.
    Thanks in advance,
    Luke

our issue is that local clients and servers are appearing on the downstream server and not the upstream server.
Number one cause associated with this symptom is not enabling Reporting Rollup on the upstream server in Options->Reporting Rollup.
It would be useful for all clients to be managed from the upstream server to reduce administration time.
This won't happen in any case. Clients are managed from the WSUS server they are assigned to. You can, however, register more than one WSUS server in the WSUS console and manage multiple WSUS servers from a single console.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
Name: WUServer    Type: REG_SZ    Data: (Downstream Server)
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
Name: WUStatusServer    Type: REG_SZ    Data: (Upstream Server)
This is not correct, but it's not a critical issue since "WUServer" is set correctly. The WUA is just ignoring the incorrect value for "WUStatusServer". Both of these strings should be set to the same value -- the assigned WSUS server.
To me, this should mean that clients only get updates from the downstream server and are conmpletely managed from the upstream server but maybe it doesn't work that way?
    It doesn't.
Basically, I would like to assign computers to groups from all sites using the upstream server only.
Not an option. You have two choices with replica servers:
Assign the group memberships from the assigned replica server.
Assign the group memberships via Group Policy.

  • E1200 router not working -- Error 3005 (and manual network not connecting)

I'm trying to set up a new E1200 N300 Monitor, and am not having any luck. Using the Cisco Connect program ends in an error during the "Validating connection" step every time, telling me:
    Error: 3005
An HNAP call to the device failed because the HTTP connection was broken.
(If it's relevant, the serioal number, connection type, and IP address (WAN) all come up as "unknown" in the error details).
I am able to set up the router manually via the web browser access. I can name the wifi network, set up the security, and even see and authenticate to the network from my devices, however, no internet connection is available when connected. (The internet connection itself is good -- when I move the incoming cable from the router to the computer, I instantly have perfect access -- thus this post)
I've also tried all the basic steps of reset and restarting everything involved multiple times, but I always end with the same result -- 3005 error in the setup app, and then a manually-configured wifi network that appears to be working and can authenticate devices, but does not provide any internet connection.
I'm at a loss at this point -- does anyone here have any advice? Thanks a lot for your time and input.

  • Linux VM server and VM network configuration

    Hi,
I have a Oracle Linux 5 server with Oracle VM Server 2.2.1 software installed. I downloaded OEL5 x86 VM template and set it up using the netmask, DNS and default gateway of the VM server machine. Now I realize I cannot access the internet from inside this Virtual Machine. So I think the DNS and gateway is not correctly setup.
Please note that I can ssh the VM from VM server.
Can you please guide me as to what DNS and gateway I should use for configuring my VMs? Do I need to set up an IP alais with different DNS.
My VM server ip is (some values changed) 99.44.95.115, DNS 213.133.98.98, Def gateway 99.44.95.97 , netmask 255.255.255.224
So for my first VM I am using ip 99.44.95.98, DNS 213.133.98.98, Def gateway 99.44.95.97 , netmask 255.255.255.224
Am I doing anything wrong. I am completely new to Linux and networking. So I am still learning.
Just a general idea would take me a long way.
    Regards
    CP

Netmasks are used to identify which portion of an IP address represents the network address and which portion represents the machine address. It affects your broadcast address and defines the range of addresses that you can communicate directly without the need of an IP gateway. You do not need an IP gateway to communicate with other hosts on the same subnet because they should be physically connected and hence receive each others broadcast in order to know how to translate IP to a machine address.
There are a couple of easy troubleshooting techniques. Like I mentioned in my previous post you can use the ping utility to check your IP communication. Open a terminal window and type e.g.: "ping 99.44.95.97". But make sure you do not have a firewall that block the ICMP protocol that the ping utility uses.
    a) check if you can ping other machines on the same network.
You should be able to ping other hosts on the same subnet. If not, then you most likely have a problem with your IP configuration or network driver (hardware). Can you ping your own host? Is the network up?
    b) check if you can ping the gateway.
If you cannot ping the gateway but a) works, then your IP gateway address is wrong or down.
    c) check if you can ping the DNS.
Provided that a) and b) works, and you cannot ping the DNS server, then either the DNS address is wrong or down, or the IP gateway is not configured properly.
Please check the above in order to isolate the problem. The link to the Oracle documentation in the one of the previous replies will let you verify the vm.cfg file to check if you have configured bridged networking (default).
Posts about the same issue in different forums are usually not welcome here and the forum moderator might lock the thread. If you already have a thread I suggest you provide the link here in order for us to see what has already been done and make a note in the the old thread to continue here.

  • Snow Leopard and Exchange 2007 Configuration Issues

I know this topic may have been covered in here previously but I have yet to find a solution.
Here is the background. Our CEO has a Mac Book and two weekends ago he updated to Snow Leopard and now wants to use the Mail client on his Mac rather than OWA to get his email. We have Exchange 2007 (I am the Admin) and have all the latest patches and Roll Ups installed. We run OWA without issue and have 10 iPhones working perfectly (i realized they use different technology to sync). I enabled EWS by following this link http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb201695.aspx and this is the actual command i used:
    Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -identity exchaname\EWS* -externalurl https://webmail.domain.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx -BasicAuthentication:$True
Seems to have run properly and there are no errors reported.
Now when I go to connect using the Mac it does not Auto Discover and I must enter manually. I enter what i think it needed and its not working. On the Account Information Tab I have the following:
    Description: generic name
    Email Address: [email protected]
    Full Name: The Person's Name
Internal Server: webmail.domain.com *Not sure what should be here
External Server: Webmail.domain.com *Again not sure if this is correct
Username: AD user name Also tried domain\username
    Password: AD password
Ougoing Mail Server: not sure what should be here
Next is the Mailbox behavior Tab:
    Did not change anything
    Advanced Tab:
    Internal Server Path: EWS/Exchange.asmx
    Port:80 SSL unchecked
    External Server: EWS/Exchange.asmx
    Port: 80 SSL unchecked
I get no connections and I am sure somehting is not correct in the above but I am lost and new to Exchange as it is. Also new to Mac's
    Help Please

We are already using webmail.domain.com for our OWA URL, well actually it is webmail.domain.com\OWA. Would I need one for the EWS & Autodiscover to use webmail.domian.com\ews?
We have rules in the firewall for Exchange and OWA. Would we need another for this?

  • Optimum E3200 and WRT160N Network Configuration

I recently purchased an E3200 router.  I also have a WRT160N router.  We have a rather large two story house, and it is not practical to run ethernet cable everywhere.  I am attempting to configure the hardware I have for optimum performance given the current requirements of our family.  Here is an attempt to summarize the current setup.
    1st Floor
    Cable Modem === Cable Box
                               === E3200 === Blu Ray / Netflix
=== Laptop being used as media PC
Office PC === Wireless B/G/N Adapter
    Second Floor
    Kids PC === WirelessB/G/N  Adapter
    XBOX 360 === Wireless B/G/N Adapter
    PS3 === B/G/N Wireless Adapter
    XBOX 360 Headset === Bluetooth
    Roaming
College Kid #1 Laptop === Wireless B/G/N Adapter
College Kid #2 Laptop === Wireless B/G/N Adapter
I can run ethernet cable from the E3200 to the Office PC without too much difficulty, since there is a basement underneath.  I plan to do this.  I can not run cable to any of the upstairs locations.  I could set up the WRT160N as a wired AP, repeater or bridge at several different locations in the house.  If I set it up on the first floor, it could be wired to the E3200, if this provided a significant performance advantage.  If I put it upstairs, it will have to function as a repeater, possible a bridge. As a bridge, it could be wired to either the Kids PC or the XBOX 360.  Connection to the PS3 is not a priority.
I would like to take advantage of the capabilities of the two routers to maximize the performance of our son's gaming, while not killing simultaneous multiple PC access.  I have studied the process of setting up the ports for the XBOX/PS3 and am comfortable with the process, but am waiting until I optimize the router setup.  I do not understand the technical aspects of how to force the XBOX/PS3 to connect with a particular router/band depending on how I utililize the WRT160N.
    So, my questions are;
    1.  How can I best use the WRT160N to improve signal quality and network performance?
    2.  Depending on the answer to #1, how do I force the gaming systems to communicate directly with the E3200 (my assumption due to the performance) rather than the WRT160N?
I'm sure there will be more questions, but let's start with this.  I appreciate any feedback anyone can provide.
    Thanks,
    Phil

    1.  You are going to have to use a cable between the two routers.
Go here... to connect two routers.
    2.  Assuming wireless connections just make two different SSID's between the two routers and connect to that specific SSID.

    Hi All,
Issue has been resolved. There was some minor issue in the XSL. The XSL Stylus studio was not reporting this as an error. However PI's XSL engine was reporting that error. This error message was not showing up in runtime workbench. However, when i looked at the default trace, there were few more errors. After fixing the XSL, I am able to received the email
    Thanks

  • Oracle 11g - Network Configuration check

    Hi All,
This is my first time here and I am a newbie to Linux and Oracle installation.
I just finished installing Linux Enterprise version 5 ( provided by Oracle corp).
At the time of installation I did not do any type of network configuration and let the default network connection take effect.
After installing all the pre requirements for the Oracle 11g installation on my laptop I was stopped with a warning on the Oracle univesal Installer - product specific Prerequisite check.
This is what it gave me---
    Checking Network Configuration requirements..
Check complete. The overall results of this check is : Not executed <<<
Recomendation : Oracle supports installation on systems with DHCP-assigned public IP addresses. However the primary network interface on the system should be configured with a Static IP Address in order for the oracle to function properly.See the installation guide for more details on installing the software on systems configured with DHCP.
I checked with the manuals and do not find any information about how to fix it.
The info given in the manual is
    Installing on DHCP Computers
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) assigns dynamic IP addresses on a network. Dynamic addressing enables a computer to have a different IP address each time it connects to the network. In some cases, the IP address can change while the computer is still connected. You can have a mixture of static and dynamic IP addressing in a DHCP system.
In a DHCP setup, the software tracks IP addresses, which simplifies network administration. This lets you add a new computer to the network without having to manually assign that computer a unique IP address.
Now i made some changes to the Network Config as root user and my Network configuration file looks like ( ie. /etc/hosts)
    127.0.0.1 localhost StaticIP
    It was previously something like
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost.
As per the installation documents where ever i had references to localhost, i had left the localhost with the same name ' localhost' and have not changed it. Now it has StaticIP and I am not sure how to proceed.
    What must I do?
I want to fix this error and also want oracle to work.
    Thanks for your help!!

Thanks a lot guys to respond to this. I am using OEL5 ( supplied by Oracle Corp) and Oracle 11g. Installation of Linux takes about 40 minutes and installation of Oracle takes about an hour to 2 hours. Not sure why some RPM's do not show up on the CD's provided by Oracle.
So I tried to reinstall Linux . But the whole problem is, the Network Screens ( during installation) do not show up at all. It just skips that portion and goes to the Screen where there is the world Map and tells you to set up the time and date. I tried installing Linux many times and those Network configuration screens do not show up at all.
Here is my dilemma. After installing Oracle 11g, and immediately accessing the site https://localhost.localdomain:1158/em takes me into the OEM.
But after I shut down my machine and boot up again, I am unable to use the OEM's site https://localhost.localdomain:1158/em. Instead I get the message
    ===============================
    Unable to Connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost.localdomain:1158
    1. The site could be temporaily unavailable
    2. If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection
    3. If your computer is protected by firewall or proxy, make sure that firefox is permitted to access the Web.
    ===================================
I am thinking the problem is with 2. I do not have any firewall in my machine and i have also disbaled SELINUX.
I want to configure the computer so i can use the OEM in my Linux laptop.
    My $ cat /etc/hosts gives
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain.
Please help me setup the Network so i can connect to 11g OEM.
And BTW this laptop is not even used to connect to the Internet.
    Thanks
    Sulu

  • WiFi PC connection: network configuration hangs

I have a new Z3C (UK) and I am trying to sync it with a Windows 7 x64 PC for WiFi access. The drivers are installed and "Xperia Z3 Compact" appears in "Computer". If I right-click and choose "Network Configuration" as per the instructions, a dialog appears asking my if I want to start the pairing process. I click OK and the wizard hangs. I have to unplug the device in order for the dialog to come back to life and tell me it cannot pair my device. Both devices are connected to the same WiFi network and the phone is in MTP mode. I have tried two Windows 7 x64 PCs now and the result is the same: I cannot get this to work.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I have installed PC Companion but see no options for WiFi pairing.
    Help...!

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
I suggest that you download our program PC Companion:
    http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/pc-companion/
In PC Companion press at "How to connect" and then select "Wi-Fi connection" and follow the instruction that appears to see if you can pair your phone with your PC.

  • Network configuration: fully manual vs. DHCP with manual IP

Are there any OS X Server services (e.g. AFP, DHCP, DNS, OD, LDAP) that specifically require a server's network settings to be manually configured, or can they all get my with just manual IP and the rest of the configuration supplied by DHCP?

Oddly enough, I set up a server with DHCP and manual IP and added its IP to a DHCP subnet. But it was also the DHCP server. It did not accept the DHCP-delivered configuration (e.g. it couldn't find the router).
Is it the case that a DHCP server cannot serve itself with network config information?
