Audio Fade off at end

I have added an audio stream to the timeline and want to fade off the volume at the last few second of the audio. How can I do this???

Every piece of audio in the timeline has a button at the start and end that allows you to fade the sound in or out.

  • Timing goes out and audio cuts off at end of published slide sequence

    Hi
I am experiencing a problem with timing and the sound cutting off at the end of a slide sequence.
    Here is my work flow:
I record what I want my slide show to say, add my music and sound effects in Soundbooth. I then create a mp3 file for my slide show.
I adjust my slide show timing to match my voice over, ensuring that the total number of minutes and seconds the slide show equates to matches the length of my audio. I then import my audio into my project while maintaining the slide timing.
If I preview the individual slides to match the timing of the arrival of words or pointers in my presentation by pressing the play button in Captivate, everything is great.... until I publish to a .swf file.
On a 2m:50sec slide show of 22 slides it cuts off approximately 5 seconds before the end. My timing which I have bent my brain on getting right, is out and appears to worsen the longer the slide show is or if it is not on the latest and greatest Mac powered computer.
I have gone so far as to increase the length of time on the last slide 5 seconds beyond the length of time that the audio occupies as well as adding another 5 seccond blank slide and still have the same cut off problem. No ideas how to help the poor souls who might not have an amazing computer to watch the demonstration on?
Interestingly if I publish and look only at the last 3 slides or if I look at a short sequence of slides or at a slide in isolation, my audio is there as it should be along with the timing. It would appear that the time "lost" or a lag between the presentation and the audio is the culprit.
Kindly advise if there is a solution to this or whether the problem lies with something I am doing.
    Thank you in advance

Has there been any new developments on this problem?
I've been having to do some crazy work arounds to avoid audio cutting off at the end of slides when using CP5 for development.
Then this week I had to review an old training which was published a long time ago only to discover that the same issue of audio cutting off is happening there.
These materials were developed using CP4 and some even with CP3.  This means that the problem/change is not CP5 but probably something to do with the Flash player version because at the time of publshing the older files did not have this issue.
This has me really worried.  There is no way I can go back and update all the old files and it means that previously perfect materials are now being viewed with audio cutting off.
Have the Adobe Captivate developers considered the possiblity that this may be a flash player issue?  Have you discussed this with the Adobe Flash developers?  Will there be a fix for this anytime soon?
    Thanks,
    Aimee

  • Adding a simple audio fade at the end of a movie - help

    Hi gentlemen,
How do you add a simple fade out to the audio track at the end of a movie ?
I tried adding a keyframe about 5 seconds before the end of my movie, but can't figure out how to do it. Not sure how to do this :-(
I need some help. ( I read the manual and I don't get it )
    Thanks,
    Dave.

    Dave,
In Effects>Audio Transitions>Crossfades, you should have 2 Trransitions. Choose Constant Power, and drag it to the end of your Audio Clip. Depending on your settings in Edit>Preferences, you may need to drag the beginning of the Constant Power Crossfade to the left, to get the 5 sec., that you want.
Other method would be to highlight the Clip, and in the Effects Control panel, choose Volume. Go to 5 sec., before the end, and click the "stopwatch" to add a start Keyframes and add a Keyframe. Go to the end of the Clip and click the "add Keyframe" button. With the CTI still over that Keyframe on the end of the clip, drag the Volume slider to -00.0db.

  • Audio cuts off during fade to black transition

After completing my movie, I tried to add a simple fade in at the very beginning and a fade out at the end. The video image fades fine but the audio is off altogether during both transitions.
What's weird is that if I look at the audio track in the precision editor, it looks like it fades in and out perfectly with the video.
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Jeremy

Any takers? I'd be very keen to learn how to do this as well.
I have a "fade to black" at the end of my movie but I don't want the audio to fade until the end of the clip.

  • How do I apply a fade to the end of an audio track?

I'm using Captivate 7, and have added one of the Gallery sounds to a slide in my software simulation. I want the track to fade at the end of slide, so I guess I need to apply an effect. All the help refers to "clicking the triangle next to the audio track name" to expand the track for editing, then goes on to talk about keyframes. I don't see a triangle next to the track name, or next to anything related to the track. I am in the Effects workspace. Also, on the EFFECTS tab, all the selections are grayed out.
I also tried adding a fade by using the settings on the PROPERTIES tab, but it doesn't affect the playback.
How do I apply a fade effect?

Effects have no relation whatsoever with audio clips, I don't understand why you were looking there.
You can edit audio, and to get into the editor there are several ways. If this is slide audio, the clip is visible on the timeline and right-click menu has an option Edit. Another way is to find the clip in the Library, and the right-click menu on its name has more options, not only Edit in Captivate, but you can also use another application which I would recommend. The audio editor in Captivate is pretty limited, I'm using Audition, but Audacity is free to use.
For an easy way to have a fade out (you can time it, not the way of fading like in a real audio editor), you don't even need the audio editor in Captivate. Look in the Properties panel, part Audio and you'll have Fade in and Fade out.

  • Audio cutting off at the end of audio clips w no change in waveform?

Audio cuts off right at the end of some of my clips... I can still see the waveforms that have the full audio on them, but no audio plays for those last two or three seconds! My audio level is the same throughout the clip, so its not like its fading out or anything. This has been happeneing for a few weeks now, in multiple seperate projects.

    Hi David,
Thanks for the response. I did look at the song that got cut off and it's a .m4a file. However, I also have normal audio that comes from an external Zoom recorder in .wav format that is getting cut off in the same way. The strange thing is I've never had a problem with this before a couple weeks ago. I've used this same song before and my external audio is always in .wav format

  • Cutting / Splitting Audio Clips, plus taking Fade OFF of audio clips

    Hi again all,
I wanted to know if it's possible to split audio clips in two in iMovie '08? I can't seem to find a way to do it, and I've been trying to edit audio in Amadeus and trying to import again, but it's getting too complicated.
Also--when two clips overlap, is it possible to take the Fade Off completely away, so that there is no fade at ALL? I tried playing with the ducking and fade sliders, but with no luck.
    Thanks in advance!
    --Melissa

    Melissa,
to remove audio fade-in/fade-off from audio or video clip, select the clip, press A, toggle fade-in and fade-out to manual and drag both sliders to 0:00
Here I'm just guessing what the actual name of the controls are in the english version of iMovie '08, mine is localized in italian.
As per splitting an audio clip, I don't know how to do either.

  • Audio thrown off by Transitions

i have a section in my video where i have a baby crying ... and I am syncing the crying with the video .... ( the crying is from a seperate audio source ) ..
I have the audio matched ... but when i add transitions in between the clip ...it throws the audio crying off sync ...
I've read that doing transitions after syncing audio is a no-no ...
But if i wait to sync the audio after the transitions .. will the audio still match up ...?
Do i have to cut up the audio file to match each little clip ..?
    HELP PLEASE ...!!!!!

    I did something similar.
I made a "music video" for a friends band made up of live clips I've shoot, and one of the songs from their album playing over the top.
I was using the audio track to get things right and sync up the different clips and transitions so they roughly matched what was going on in the song.
Then I removed the audio track and re-added it and it was all great.
But when I saved it, and also uploaded it to YouTube, this one part at the end wne t out of sync.
    Here's the video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfUi-y-0dGc
You can see the part I mean, right at the end just before it fades into the live audio I kept in on the last clip.
I don't get why this happened when it was perfect before I uploaded it.

  • Change curved audio fade to straight?

hi, i cant seem to change my audio fade from a curved line to a straight line. i create 2 keyframes and move one down to fade out an audio track and the line is curved instead of straight. the manual doesn't mention how to change to "straight mode" either. VERY FRUSTRATING. i have used final cut pro and the audio fades were straight. is the straight audio fade line exclusive to final cut pro? many thanx.

hi, sorry i should have explained myself better, < </div>
No problem, happens all the time around here.
    Welcome to the family.
what i need to hear is a straight fade out of the audio and i was originaly using FC pro and was achieving this without any hassle, you will notice the curved fade which seems to be the only option in FC express drops off at the end of the fade which much to my distress sounds a bit abrupt for my particular piece. It seems i will have to buy FC pro...< </div>
There is no straight-line audio fade in FCP, none that I can find. Do not invest in FCP just for a chimera of an audio setting.
the only wsay I know of that you can achieve this is to use multiple keyframes. Zoom in as far as you need to in the Viewer and try your best to get the effect you want.
You may need to take the track out to Soundtrack Pro for more exasperatingly crucial editing.

  • Cannot render audio fade and/or transition and/or title

I am at my wits end and ready to blow up the computer on this one.
    I have about a dozen
DV-AVI clips, captured from a Sony camcorder via Firewire.  I am editing them into 7 scenes.  I tried this with the first two scenes and I did a test Burn to File, viewed the VOB in Windows Media Player and all worked well.  I then added 5 more scenes, all with the same transition recipe between scenes, did another Burn to File and found that past the first two scenes, everything was black.  WMP showed video playing, but it was just solid black past the first two scenes.
I scoured the forum looking for clues and hours later I have absolutely no idea what is going on.   Here are my specs and what I have tried.  I also attached a screen shot showing the 3 areas on my timeline that show different states of rendering (or non-rendering).
Computer specs: PreE8, Win7 64bit, intel i7, ATI card, 6 GB RAM, 400+GB free HD
DV-AVI clips, some with the In and Out points trimmed a few seconds.
I added to each clip Audio Fade In and Fade Out.
Between each clip is the following: Dip to Black, Title, Dip to Black
I added a Menu Marker to each title.  They all appear on the menu as they should.
    Background rendering is OFF.
I am still new to PreE so I still don't quite understand the whole rendering thing.  But as near as I can tell, that is the heart of the problem, but I cannot for the life of me see how to fix it.  As seen on my screen shot, the first two transions are rendered green.  Now skip ahead to the fourth transition and it is red.  Zooming in, the red goes from the start of the audio fade out of the previous clip, through the title, then stops at the start of the next clip.  So I thought it is a transition, the title, menu marker or the audio fade out causing a problem.  however, even when I removed ALL these elements from between and on the 2nd and 3rd clips (the third transition) it is STILL red!  And yes I am pressing the Enter key to render.  There are no effects, keyframes, or anything on the adjacent clips and it won't render.  The only thing I noticed is now the unrendered part is the first 4 seconds of the later clip.
Why on earth do the first two transitions work, but the rest won't?  Why won't it render after I removed everything except the plain DV-AVI clips?

Thanks Hunt for all your help, information and encouragement.  I have been able to return to my project (I saved the original with no changes) and was able to adjust the Work Area, Render and Burn to Folder (VOB).  When I tested the VOB, everything worked great!  So that was the problem.  Hurrah!
FYI--in PreE 8, the Burn to Folder option does NOT have a "Export Work Area" button, BUT the Share to Computer (mpeg) DOES, so that is something good to know.  Obviously the Burn to Folder option in PrE 8 defaults to burning the Work Area.  For my small project, the Work Area concept is not a necessary feature, but I can see how  for larger more complicated projects it is a good way to manage resources.
Now that I have had some time away and a couple glasses of wine :-) I can be more positive about what I learned.  In my travails,  I learned a lot about rendering, keyframes, the work area,  stumbled across a way to easily search only the Premiere Elements subforum, and a lot about stop markers (which seems to cause some black-screen problems when too near to menu markers).  So it was not a complete waste of time.  Oh yeah, and thanks for the compliment on my post info.  In my forum travels,  I also learned what information is asked for over and over to get more directly to an answer and just put it in the first go-round. And it paid off!
Well, back to the shop.  My husband thinks I am crazy for using this aggravating software (I used to use Windows Movie Maker) but I keep telling him, PreE 8 is like a Ferrari.  The problem is that it is temperamental and often broken down in the shop causing a lot of frustration.   But when it runs well, it is oh such a sweet thrill, so slick and powerful, that I just can't give it up and go back to the Honda.

  • Quick Look Audio Fade-in

    Hello,
i am that complete lagger who used 10.6.8 for few years for working with audio and music production. Somehow i decided to upgrade to new osx for new logic and some user features, but there is one little thing that still keeps me off new os x.
Back in 10.6 when you quick look an audio file it plays just "as is"- without any fade ins and fade outs. If sound starts instantly inside audio file- it will play instantly. This helps me a lot while making music- i just use Finder quickly to find right sound and drag and drop it into Logic. This is my typical workflow- press space and use up and down buttons to find right sample.
In Lion, ML and now in Mavericks that feature was changed. When you quick look audio file it will play it normally the first time, but when you play it second time (you didnt hear if this fiel sound right and you replay it) it cuts the very first part of the sound- it creates very fast fade in which affects the sound. It looses first click (wich may be very important). Sometimes i cant really hear if sound starts instantly or with fade within sample.
This is probably more a feature than bug, but this still doesent helps me at all.
The question is how to disable that quick look audio fade in? I really dont need it and dont want it.
I tried to replace 10.9 quick look audio plugin with same file from 10.6, but that didnt worked.
    Regards,
    Anton Demkin

If this is the case Then there must be some switch somewhere in the bowels of the project data that can be thrown. Once again i am appalled at how little information is available to power users and apple should be ashamed of it self. THese damned programs do not work as advertised when pushed and they display anomalies that keep the forums full but nothing else. I had this problem and had to export the whole movie as is and then reimport it in order to over come the INVERSE DUCKING feature so prominently in fashion these days. I will be trying now to see how this works ... again.
PS none of my issues with inverse ducking matched what you did to solve yours -- My project had been completed and now someone wanted tweaks so when i went in to make the tweaks- that is what i found . Sort of like magical apperance of unnamed temporary files amongst other things.

  • Capturing footage and audio is off sync?

I'm capturing footage and then play it back on the timeline. I notice that the audio is off sync, why is that? I use Sony DVCAM Deck to capture without altering the setting, in Final Cut Pro 6, and the audio became off sync. Any solution?
    Thank you
    Luis

Is it consistently off-sync? Like is it always 2 frames off? Or does it trail off, like it starts in sync and then it drifts out of sync after several seconds? I recently captured a bunch of stuff that was recorded with a DVX100 and the audio was 2 frames ahead of the video (sometimes it seemed like it was only 1 frame off, but 99% of the time it was 2).
Then another problem that crept up was when it got to the end of a tape, which would confuse Final Cut. It would stop, and then make the last clip captured play at 29.97 when it should have been 23.98, though the audio would play back normally. So it would appear to be in sync for a moment and then it would get way out of sync very quickly. What I had to do then was just babysit the capture of the last scene on the tape and stop it before it got to the end.

  • Audio fade in

when I add audio it keeps putting about 30 secs. of silence at the beginning of the song. I have loaded different songs and opened new movies. How to I remove the fade in

    Hi lisacillustrate,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issue you are describing. If you are having issues with the trim or fade in on audio clips in iMovie, you may find some of the information in the following articles helpful:
iMovie '11: Set the beginning and end of a sound or music clip
iMovie '11: Adjust the rate of audio fade-in and fade-out

  • Where is audio fade in new iMovie 10.0.1?

Just got my new iMac loaded with the new iMovie and am feeling my way through it (wish they had better tutorials). One thing i am unable to find is the manual audio fade in and fade out controls that were obvious with iMovie '09. I really hope they didn't do away with those for some reason--it's a key tool for managing audio in video clips and music. Thanks for any info.

I have a movie made up of 10 discrete clips right now. I was able to find a tiny dot to adjust the fade in on only two of the clips. No dots at the end of any of the clips to drag to make an audio fade out. I blew up the size of the clips as big as possible and hovered over the audio portion of each one, but no sign of a tiny dot any place except those two clips. (All the clips are from the same speech so I don't think it's the source.) Any ideas about finding those fade in/fade out dots? (Have to say the old way was easier--less squinting.) Thanks.
