Audio key frame jumps

I'm going through, leveling out my audio by adding audio level keyframes in the timeline. Easy stuff.
Sometimes when I add one, the line "jumps" down instead of staying at the current level.
Is there a way to stop it from doing this? It's is time consuming to re-adjust the level after most every keyframe. Thanks!

Still seems to happen with large audio tracks.
The Audio Mixer isn't too bad, but I still find it easier on the timeline for initial shouted words and mic bumps and whatnot.
Besides, the timeline doesn't move during playback, so there's no way of seeing what is coming up, except for doing it repeatedly... where you end up going to the timeline anyways.
I need to break out the midi controller.. see if I can avoid constantly switching between windows. Ill give it a shot on the next show. (Monday)
Thanks!

  • Audio Key Frames Scrambled On Import From P Pro

I'm importing three audio tracks from Premier Pro 5.5 into Audition, and each audio track may contain several dozen separate clips.
On some tracks I loose all my audio key frames, and the "rubber band" has snapped
to the bottom and the track has no output. On other tracks, I'm loosing about a third of the key frames, poof, gone. In some cases, the key frames have been moved around within the clip,
say I created a fade up at the beginning with two key frames, and after import the first key frame, at -00 db, has moved ahead five seconds, and the second key frame is
at the proper level, but also has been slid over five seconds. Other key frames randomly drop to -00 db from where they originally were.
In P Pro I adjust my audio automation by setting key frames and moving the "rubber band". I then export by Edit > Edit In Audition > Sequence and check the "Send
Clip Vloume Key Frames" box, and un-check the "Render Audio Clips Effects" box. In the P Pro timeline I have not seclected any individual clips or tracks, I don't
    believe I need to.
A multitrack session opens in Audition, and my key frames are scrambled up.
Using Mac Pro with OS 10.6.8 , P Pro 5.5.2 and purchased the CS 5.5 Creative Suite last December
Thanks in advance for any help that may keep me from going nuts    Tom/ Miami

Thanks for the reply and I do apologize for some of the newbie questions, I downloaded MPEG StreamClip and attempted the convert.
I have to admit the following QT movie inspector details of my original video are below and play fine in QT but once I convert the video appears choppy at times almost as if clips are being dropped?
Is my default format simply not compatible?
If not then what would you recommend my settings be in MPEG Streamclip to export without any choppiness?
Again I do thank you for your help!!!!

  • Way to control audio key frames across multiple tracks in one fell swoop?

Hi everybody. Let's say I have 5 layers of audio, and I want to key frame levels and fades across all of them. Is there a way to sync the tracks such that, any changes I make to one will apply to all? Ala, the way one makes changes to both tracks in a stereo pair in one fell swoop.

Nest the sequence and make the moves on the resulting "mixed-down" audio. All audio should appear as a simple stereo pair in the nest. Adjust here.

  • Audio Key frames not staying set

I have three pieces of Smartsound music in my video. I add keyframing (rubber banding) the audio to accomodate a voiceover. After I set the key frames ((about 20) I look back and they have all move positions. I've gone back a reset all the keyframes about three times and each time after I finish, the key frames are all in the wrong position. I have tried repairing permissions, as well as doing a "save as" in FCP...but the problem persists. Any suggestions?

Forgive me for saying it, but it sounds like possible user error ... certainly keyframes do not usually move all by themselves. But hard to guess exactly how or why these keyframes are moving.

  • No Audio Key Frames Added When Using Track Mixer

Yesterday this worked fine today not.
I edited the video from a live panel at Comic Con. The audio was recoded on a Sound Devices 8 track recorder.
After the picture was edited I added the 6 tracks of audio to do the audio mix using the track mixer as I always do.
I set all tracks to write and lowered all the faders all the way down then as the timeline played I brought up one fader on the presenter and after a few moments I stopped the time line. All channels go to touch I move the scrubber back to before I started to raise the fader and played back, nothing. No audio no fader movement. When I look at the Show Key-frames,Track Key-frames I see no key frames added.
    Any one have an idea?
I edited a panel yesterday in the same project different sequence same settings with video and audio recorded the same way it work fine.
    Thanks
    Dennis
Well I found out how to fix it. Make a new Sequence copy my edited clips into it, add the audio and now it works right.
It looks like the sequence got corrupted so just creating a new one fixed the problem.
I have seen problems with corrupted sequences before but not  causing key frame write issues.
Just a side note I also earlier had red frames showing up that usually mean dropped or bad frames but after restarting the program that went away.
By the way this was with CC 2014
    I will mark this answered

The in and out points, unless changed, are set for the whole sequence. The automation will not write if this in to out area does not included the mix section. It might be that the in/out area of your first sequence was incorrect but this was fixed when you made the new sequence.

  • Key frames in audio tracks

I can not find the key frames in the audio track in finalcut X

What are you seeing in the timeline? You can set audio keyframes in the inspector or in the timeline. Opt-click the level line.

  • Effects and key-frames not working on some clips Premiere CC 2014

Hi. I am having an issue where effects and key frames applied to both audio and video are not working, but only sometimes. Even after I render or export the video, the effects are not showing up. For example, trying to adjust volume using key-frames on some clips works fine, and not at all on others. The key-frames show up and I can see the volume changing in the effects panel, but it is not happening. Another example is changing the opacity on some video clips and it does not work sometimes. Same thing, I can see the key-frames and the values changing, but it's not actually happening. I have uninstalled and re-installed premiere pro and media encoder with no luck. I have uninstalled and re-installed the latest Nvidia drivers with no luck. Just to restate, this only happens on some clips and rendering or exporting the video does not help. My computer specs are:
    MSI GT60 Laptop:
    Intel Core i7 4800MQ (2.70GHz)
    16GB Memory 1TB HDD 128GB SSD
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M 8GB
    2880 x 1620 16:9 3K Display
    Windows 8.1 64-Bit

Here is the exact screenshot.  Now I'm also trying other effects as stated in my original post.  But this effect is just an example.  Is there really something that I'm doing wrong here?  Or am I forgetting something?  Is there some special "adobe doesn't let keyframes work on mpg's" rule or something silly like that?
I wish that I could post a video, but I don't know how.
Please let me know what I need to do to make this work properly.

  • Why is the position of key frame BEFORE scene changes not after?

Why is the position of I frame BEFORE scene changes not after?
And, why doesn't MovieVideoChart show any I frames other than those that correspond to periodic "key frames every X frames"? Is it reading meta data and not really showing where the real existing I frames are located? I.e. WYSIAL (what you see is a lie)? If so, where can I get an affordable tool that will let me examine my files in this regard?
I have put compression and chapter marks at scene changes in FCP and have exported with markers for DVDSP (both chapter and compression).
I have read on this forum (somewhere) that when insert key frames every X frames is selected, Compressor is still going to insert key frames automatically at key frames.
When I last encoded with H.264 in Compressor, I selected option to insert I key frame every 90 frames (fps=29.97).
When I jump to chapter in my encoded video, where I had place a key frame at a cut, I end up with a chapter at the frame BEFORE the cut.
I will try moving my chapter/compression marks a frame ahead and see if that helps.
Certainly, others must have been plagued by this problem.
When encoding with MPEG2 for DVD, the same thing happens.
It is a real problem. I get one frame appearing before the cut in chapter skips.
Hope someone can illuminate this problem.

    Hi there
As you have seen, RoboHelp doesn't understand how to create the layers you are wanting to achieve the effect in Word. It simply brings the images in as separate objects.
Basically there are two approaches you might consider.
You could insert Positioned Text Boxes and configure them to present the images as you want. If you take this approach, you will likely find yourself struggling to maintain the positioning consistently as well as noticing text flow issues. Personally, I'd avoid that approach.
The other approach involves displaying the images in your Word document so that you see them as intended, then screen capture so you grab the combined image. Then save that combined image and use it instead of the separate images in RoboHelp. This is the approach I'd suggest and that I use myself.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Positioning media on a key frame

    Hi,
I'm new to jmf, but I made a lot of things myself. I'm able to play video files (xvid, using jffmpeg), took the cut.java from the solutions and adopted to my needs. But I'm having a small annoyance with the cutting.
When I try to cut the video on a frame that is not a key frame I get audio/video desyncronization. The thing is that the cut.java program starts cutting the video from a key frame, that could be some 5-10 frames after the current (selected) frame.(I set my video files to have a key frame every 15 frames at most)
So an easy solution to my problem would be to set the starting point of the cutting on a key frame. And my question is: How to set the media time of my player/processor to a key frame?
    I need something like processor.positionOnNextKeyFrame().
    Thanks,
    Bojan

    Thanks for the reply,
I saw that one but somehow I cannot find out how to get the buffer from the processor? I tried the code from cut.java but I didn't like to go through every step when I have already loaded the file in a processor. Somehow I lost my self in that. Maybe it is the solution...
I was researching and found out that there might be a way if I could somehow get the Track from the processor. Track interface has a method:
readFrame(Buffer buffer) - Reads the next frame for this Track
So if I could get the track then I would be able to loop through the frames and do this check:
    if ((buf.getFlags() & Buffer.FLAG_KEY_FRAME) != 0)
So how do I get the Track? Through the TrackControl somehow?
    Thanks again

  • Importance of Key Frame Interval in live streaming

What is the significance of Key frame interval in live streaming. In VOD I know that media players seeks between these keyframes but what is use of it in live streaming. Any effect on quality ?
    Please help
    -Prem

Sorry the recommendations didn't work. I tested two 1080p files – one 23.98 fps and a 29.97 fps – at those settings. No loss of sync whatsoever here.
So perhaps there is something about your source file that's a problem. Try another file and see.
On a different, but related topic, the MPEG4 encoding that Compressor 3.5 uses is kind of long in the tooth. You'll note in the user manual that all the discussion about features and settings seems to presume that the file will not be re-encoded. (Hence, my question about whether it was for your own Web Site.)
All the video services take whatever we upload and re-encode them to their proprietary specs. So generally it's best to upload as much info as possible. (David Brewer, who frequently contributes to these boards, uploads very large Pro Res files with good results.)
YT's advanced encoding guidelines recommend the MP4 container, but with the h.264 codec. That is the Part 10 MPEG standard, which Compressor 3.0 and 3.5 cannot do. (However, Compressor 4.0 can do that encode, which is one of benefits of having that version.)
FWIW, all videos that I prepare for the Web are h.264 .mov files (not mp4) and I've not had any quality issues with video or audio. Just personal preference.
Perhaps someone else will have some ideas why you lose sync other than sample rate and/or change in frame rate.
    Good luck.
    Russ

  • How to make footage in between position key frames stay in a straight line?

I used position keyframes to move the footage to the right, in different positions near the right side of the sequence frame (not all the same position), in preparation for a split frame crop effect. Between keyframes the footage jumps back to the original position. I selected all the key frames and did a rightclick and set Temporal and Spatial interpolation to Linear or Bezier - but that doesn't do anything at all. What am I missing?

Thanks for trying to help me Ann. The temp. & spatial interpolation on all keyframes is Linear. There don't appear to be any hidden keyframes, but I don't see how to zoom more than the default shown here. Where the playhead in this screencap - between the 2 keyframes - is where the motion jumps back. All the position keyframes align the footage to the right. In between keyframes - and not every one - it jumps back to the center. The extra keyframes in the clip were an attempt to keep that from happening but it justs happens in shorter increments now.
Just curious - is a person able to mark their own answer as correct?

  • Best export settings for Canon cameras: Key Frame Distance confusion

Good evening! I have the Canon SX230 camera (for easy understanding, you could consider it as 5D Mark) and Premiere Pro CS5.5, and what I need is to export my project with the best similar to the source quality, as lossless as it possible (but not like absolute lossless oversized AVI's...) To my happiness, there are not so many export settings, but I am very puzzled with "Set Key Frame Distance" point. Okay, basically I understand what GOP is, what I don't understand is what value I should choose for the best result, if my сamera does videos with M=1/N=12? I'm choosing "1" Key Frame Distance, like all frames are I-frames, saving the original sequence, because you don't want to convert original I-frames to P-frames, so it's better to make them I-/P-/B-frames all like I-frames? Am I right at this point, is that wise, and will it be the best reasonable option, matching original M=1/N=12? Or is it not worth it? And will it fundamentally affect the file size? I really need your help on this, worked on this project for three months and really don't want to screw up all:) Thank you very much!
    sample of my sourse files:
and this is my export settings, which I think is the best of the best, but please correct me if I'm wrong:

Oh dear Ann, unfortunately it is not possible.
For some unbelievable reason it is okay to mux H.264 with Dolby, but forbidden to mux H.264 with PCM. That has absolutley no sense. Anyway, that's not a problem, mkvtoolnix does a perfect job. Really need PCM stereo audio for that project. And H.264 is the best codec for Full HD project out there, MPEG is too old...

  • When are Apple going to sort out the Final Cut Pro X Key Frame problem

    Hello,
I’m trying to move three custom text clips to different locations on the screen & change the text size. The text clips drift around between two key frames with the same values. (“linear” is set on the red wire frame movement indicator) I know you can stop the drift by going to the first key frame, move forward one frame, add a key frame, wait for the rendering to complete then delete the key frame, then move to the next key frame, go back one frame, add a key frame, wait for the rendering to complete then delete the key frame. All this takes a considerable time. Does anyone know when Apple plan to fix this Key Frame bug? Or an easier way to stop the drift between key frames?
    Thanks
    JohnH

Yep, I hope KFs get a little bit of love in the next update too.
To make my KFs linear, I always do the move, then drop a dummy keyframe inbetween them and add/delete that KF until the Motion path stops showing a change. Linear interpolation will follow!
    Pain but quite quick!!

  • Problems when importing multiple files into key frames

I'm creating an interactive flash application that uses hundreds of individual renders from a 3d modelling app.  The image file size is 800 x 600.  Each sequence that i import to the stage is around 120 images and each gets put into a separate key frame.  The problem is, often when I import batches of files into flash the program crashes and stops responding. The problem gets worse after each succesful import ie. after importing the first lot of files, its unlikely that the second lot of files will import.
Interestingly, I dont have this problem on my pc.  So I can  do all the importing on my pc, but when I try and compile the swf file my pc does not create a file and sometimes crashes.  So I am having to import on my pc and compile the swf on my mac.
Anyone else having similar problems? is there a better way of going about this?

flash is limited to 16,000 frames.
use several swfs and load them into a main swf.

  • When I attempt to add a new key frame into the timeline it adds several frames to my animation

I am trying to edit an FLV file with flash professiona.  Right now every frame is on long frame sequence, meaning that right now there is only one key fram in the entire 40 second animation.  I am trying to add put key frames at various points in my animation but when I attempt to add a new key frame into the timeline it copies ever frame up to the selected and adds it to the front of my timeline.  Any Idea how to fix this?  I want to break my video up so I can add some shape tweens in between some of the frames
