Audio lost when converted to iPod

I have a video (48.4 MB mpg) that plays fine in QT and iTunes but when it is converted (with either) to iPod (24.2 MB m4v) using "Convert selection to iPod" the audio is lost but video is fine. Any suggestions. Thanks. Phil

Hi Phil. There seem to be some problems regarding the conversion of video files with muxed audio (i.e with audio embedded in the video file), and Quicktime does not support the conversion of MPEG-1 files. I have used the excellent (and free) iSquint to convert videos for my iPod with great success. There is also an application called ViddyUp ($9.95) which offers similar functionality, and can convert files with muxed audio.

  • Audio lost when converting from standard to widescreen

I have been working on an iMovie project for about two  weeks and just noticed that there was an option for widescreen vs standard mode.  I read through the instructions and it said that one can convert to widescreen at any time in a project. I converted to widescreen and when I did I seem to have lost 2/3 of the audio in the clips. But its strange because the clips are clearly there - the ducking still works, the audio clip title are there, but there's no sound. I am hoping that there's a simply fix and that I don't need to reconstruction the movie.  HELP! Please.
    Thanks

I resolved the issue.  I googled the issue and the answer was right there. Turns out that one audio clip (out of dozens in the project) was somehow corrupted. A small yellow triangle was the indication.  Once I deleted that clip all of the other audio came back into the project.  I simply pasted a fresh version of that audio clip into the project and the all was not lost.

  • Audio problem when converting to ipod format

I'm trying to convert .mpg files into ipod video files using Quicktime Pro 7.0.4. I use the default options and the export goes great, but there is no audio in the exported file. Anyone have any ideas?
I'm on XP Pro SP 2 if that matters

    Windows version is here:

  • QT7Pro - Movies convert with no sound when converting to iPod

I bought QT7Pro last night, wanting to convert movies (.avi and .mpg) I have on my computer. They play and have sound in QT just fine, but when I go to convert them to MPEG-4 or convert for iPod, the options claim to have no audio track and it winds up being a silent video. How can I convert my movies without losing the sound on them?

QuickTime Pro doesn't (can't) export audio from muxed files (MPEG 1 or 2 and Flash).
Use other software to export those formats to the iPod settings. A quick search through the iPod discussions pages (now over one million views) will give you some software ideas.

  • Album art is lost when converting.....

You can now convert to 128, 192, or 256 AAC.  This is a great feature, I've actually been waiting for this for a while.
So today, I decided to try it out.  I set it to 128, and re-synced some music I had at 320.  It worked, but there is no album art.  iTunes apparently does not keep the album art when converting the songs.
I've tried re-installing iTunes, but nothing seems to help.  Does anyone know a fix for this?  I'd really like to use this feature

I have the same problem and it's the same with some of my podcast art. It's very frustrating that things work just fine with iCloud when it comes to mailaccounts and all other stuff and a simple thing like this won't work.

  • Audio dropouts when converting dvd's to ipod video

Love my new 60 Gb iPod in black!
I have been able to successfully transfer several of my DVD's to my iPod using handbrake. Such movies as, "The Big Lebowski" and several episodes of "Bugs Bunny", music videos from a "Best of Blur" DVD, all transfer seamlessly (in the destination box of handbrake, I select MP4 file, then when the transfer is complete, I ammend the end of the file to m4v before dragging it over the itunes icon in the dock.).
In any event, for some reason, several other DVD's I've tried to convert using the same method (R.E.M. Roadmovie, Queen - Live at Wembley Stadium), reveal dropouts in the audio (video keeps playing without a glitch). Dropouts last for no more than a second and seem to occur between every 30 to 50 seconds. These same DVD's play flawlessly in the computer and home dvd players with no signs of dropouts. Any ideas, suggestions would be greatly appreciated concerning how I can get rid of these dastardly dropouts.
    Thanks,
    Pete

    Hi Rick,
I am extracting the material from the dvd directly using handbrake. The file that handbrake creates lands on the desktop. I then ammend the end of the filename from mp4 to m4v. Following this I click and drag the file onto the itunes icon in the dock. I can then download it to the ipod no problem. The dropouts occur no matter where I play the file. In other words, on the desktop (with QT), in the itunes library and on the pod.
I went back and looked at all the dvd's that are giving me this trouble. The culprit seems to be that the audio signal is in LPCM (linear pulse code modulation). Just for the **** of it, I tried to rip one track using handbrake changing the sampling rate of the audio to 48,000 Hz which I believe is what LPCM uses (previously I had set it at 41,000 Hz in handbrake). But no go, still has dropouts. One of these problem dvd's has a second audio option in AC3 (2ch). As a test, I ripped one song using that. Dropouts are gone. However, the audio is a director's commentary (on the music video he shot) with the music in the background, so it's not what I want.
Is there any way to convert LPCM to AC3? Or any other way to fix this dropout problem.
    Thanks,
    Pete

Sounds like you may be trying to convert a "muxed" file format. (Open your "Get Movie Info" window to check the "Format" type.) If so, use an MPEG based converter like iSquint (free) or MPEG Streamclip (free) for conversion.

  • Chapters lost when converting movies for ipod

I have some video with chapters that when I convert them to ipod version the chapters are gone. Any reason for this?

I can't think of a reason this would happen, but I here is how to put the chapter marks back in (granted it takes a little work).

  • Audio off when converting from mov to flv

I have an mov file that I am trying to convert with the media encoder, but when I run it through, it throws off the audio just slightly. I have tried converting to flv and mp4 with the same results. What is causing this? Can I fix it? I need to be able to convert the file so I can use it in a Captivate project.

  • HT1766 how can i recover calendar data that i lost when converted to icloud

i have lost most all of my data on my iphone when i went from mobilme to icloud...is there any way to recover it?

    Hi, Mike.
It sounds like you're trying to convert a PDF (which contains a "document open" password) to Microsoft Word. Is that correct? Which product or service are you using to do this conversion - Adobe CreatePDF or Adobe Acrobat or some other product?
CreatePDF cannot currently convert password-protected PDFs to Word. You will typically get an error which says that conversion cannot proceed due to password protection. Acrobat can convert password-protected PDFs to Word, provided you have the password and can provide that at the time you open the PDF in Acrobat.
If you would like to see CreatePDF better handle password-protected PDFs, please add that to our Ideas page.
    Thanks.

  • Leading Zeroes are lost when convert from string to int

What I'm trying to do is simple yet the solution has seemed difficult to find.
I have a system that requires 4 digit numbers as "requisitionNo". The system uses JSPs and accepts the 4 digit number that the user inputs (fyi - duplicate handling is already managed). The input number (rNumber) is of STRING type and in the action (using struts) is converted to an int:
int requisitionNo = Integer.parseInt(rNumber); At that very line the issue is that when the user inputs a number with leading zeros such as: "0001" the 3 leading zeros are chopped off in the INT conversion. The application validation kicks in and says: "A 4 digit number is required" which is by design. The work around has been that the user has been putting in number that start with 9's or something like that, but this isn't how the system was intended to be used.
How do I keep the leading zeroes from being lost instead of saving a number "1" to the database how do I keep it saving "0001" to the database? Would I just change everything to STRING on down to the database? or is there another number type that I can be using that will not chop off the leading zeroes? Please provide short code references or examples to be more helpful.

Yeah, I have to agree here that leading zeroes make no sense. I figured that out when I started to look into this problem. The only requirement that exists is that the user wants it to be a 4 digit number due to some other requirement they have themselves.
So what I'm gathering from what I've read in the responses thus far is that I should change the validation a bit to look at the STRING for the 4 required digits (which are really 4 characters; maybe I should add CLIENT side numeric validation; currently its doing server side numeric/integer validation; or maybe change up the server side validation instead???) and if they are ALL GOOD then let the application save the int type as it wants to. IE: Let it save "0001" as just "1" and when I come back to DISPLAY this saved number to the user I should append the string of "000" in front of the 1 for display purposes only? Am I understanding everyone correctly?

  • Audio problem when converting iMovie09 into FCE

I originally converted analog tapes to digital and captured video/audio into iMovie 09. This worked well
When then exporting via .xml and importing into FCE, the video portion worked well, but the audio portion is barely audible. Even when I turn the volume all the way up and use the decibel adjustments, the audio is hard to hear
    What should I do?
Thanks for any help on this question
    Ron

Tom -- the original analog tape was 8mm, recorded on a Sony Camcorder. In iMovie-09, I don't have any problem after having converted the analog tape to DV. It's becomes a problem (buzzing sound) when it export via XML into FCE4.0.1

  • Audio lost when transferred to STP

I have tried to send a couple of sequences from FCP to STP Multi-track editor. Every time, no matter if I send from the timeline or browser, when STP opens up the video is there but the audio is not.
Any ideas of what could be wrong?

i've had the same problem; or at least ... different variations on the same problem. it screws up everytime ... i just ended up going the long way, exporting the file out of fcp, and dragging it back in to stp.
i'm on a rant against stp today, because (for about the sixth time in two years) i lost a day's work because of it's laughable performance.
it just doesn't work the way it's supposed to from one end of the app to the other.
i could spend two hours working up a list for apple, but i'm sure they already have a list of their own ... that they're ignoring.

  • Audio lost when a segment of html5 is replayed

    Hi all,
please kindly assist with the issue that i came across with my cp6 created files:
The audio for my Html 5 (opened in IE9) file was running Okay when it was played for the first time; however, when I replayed a segment (say, going back to the beginning of Lesson 1, which was just played), then the audio is lost. I would need to re-open the file to replay the segment, which is sort of dumb especially during a demo in a meeting. Anyone came across this and would you please advise solutions? Thanks!

    Hi Vish
Have updated the captivate version to 6.0.1.240 and republished the project (in Html5); however, the lost audio issue remained after i replayed a segment that were just played. Is there any other solution? or can you help take a look at the project i created?
    Thanks
    BR
