Authentication on external HD

I've recently had to authenticate every time I copy/move files from my MBP to external HD. I ran repair permission but that didn't solved the problem. Is there a way to fix this?

Get Info on the external hard drive and look at the bottom of the window. See if Ignore Ownership is set on. If it is not, then you would have to authenticate to write files to locations that you don't have permission to access.
Another thing it could be is on your Home folder. Do you have any problems moving and copying files around in your home folder?
Also, your profile is incorrect. There is no possible way you can be running Mavericks on a PowerMac. They have PowerPC processors and Mavericks will only run on an Intel processor.

  • ISE admin access, authentication against external radius

    Please don't ask me why,
the customer insists and wants to be authenticated on ise (as admin) against an external (microsoft) radius server
is it possible while retaining internal admin users database in a sequence Internal>external_radius or internal>AD ?
thank you in advance for whatever may help

    According to Cisco:
External Authentication AND external Authorisation for Admin acces son the ISE can only be done by using LDAP or AD.
For Radius Servers there are a solution for external Authentication and internal Authorisation on the ise:
    External Authentication + Internal Authorization
When configuring Cisco ISE to provide administrator authentication using an external RSA SecurID identity store, administrator credential authentication is performed by the RSA identity store. However, authorization (policy application) is still done according to the Cisco ISE internal database. In addition, there are two important factors to remember that are different from External Authentication + External Authorization:
You do not need to specify any particular external administrator groups for the administrator.
You must configure the same username in both the external identity store and the local Cisco ISE database.
To create a new Cisco ISE administrator that authenticates via the external identity store, complete the following steps:
Step 1 Choose Administration > System > Admin Access > Administrators > Local Administrators.
The Administrators window appears, listing all existing locally defined administrators.
Step 2 Follow the guidelines at Creating a New Cisco ISE Administrator to ensure that the administrator username on the external RSA identity store is also present in Cisco ISE. Be sure to click the External option under Password.
Note Remember: you do not need to specify a password for this external administrator user ID, nor are you required to apply any specially configured external administrator group to the associated RBAC policy.
    Step 3 Click Save .

  • Authentication on external quarantine for group members

    Hi there,
we're using LDAP as end-user authentication method to our external quarantine box (M670, 7.2.1-036).
How does the authentication works, if a message to a distribution list ("[email protected]") is identified as positive spam ? I think there is no password for "dl", since this is a Active Directory mail-enabled group. How can a group member release/delete these quarantined messages, when "New Message Table" is not used in spam notifications?
    Thomas

    Hi,
a message sent to a distribution list flagged as Spam needs to be released/deleted by each single recipient.  If the list of new Spam messages is not listed in the Spam digest, then the user needs to login to the ISQ using the LDAP authentication credentials to access the ISQ directly.

  • JAAS-authentication to external secure system within EJB?

I would like to write an EJB that accesses an external,
non-WebLogic system that uses JAAS security. It looks like using
plain vanilla JAAS client code would break some EJB programming rules.
I need to pass credentials to this external system
(private/public keys, etc.) that are on the filesystem.
I see WL has "Credential Mapping" but couldn't really see how
I'd use and implement this to authenticate to the external
    system.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    -Rolf Arands

one way, which I know that will work, is to run you JAAS code on some container. If authentication works, the code on you container forwards HTTP request to the WAS.
The WAS must have a Trust association interceptor (TAI), written for you purpose. You container forwards the HTTP request with the authenticated userid in the request. The TAI intercepts the requests and pulls the authenticated userid from the request and returns the userid to the WAS security manager.
I have created a small presentation that shows how security credentials is propagated to the WebLogic and WAS security managers. It can be found on my site.

  • Authentication through external trust doesn't work with rodc

We have an external sharepoint environment (B.com). For this environment we created a external trust. They trust our accounts  (from A.com). On our side we have a site with an DC and a RODC (also DNS server). This site is in a DMZ. All required ports
for communication with DC's on the inside are open. The DC is used to set up the external to be removed after that.  At the b.com side we've created an conditional forwarder for a.com (the rodc is used for the forwarder).
This setup is working fine. Users from both domains can access the sharepoint portal. But when we shut down the DC users from a.com aren't able to logon. We want to remove the DC cause we don't want it in the DMZ.
From online research I concluded this is because it doesn't know in what site it's in. The RODC only publishes site specific srv records. The option to change reg keys for the RODC to be able to register its srv records in the non zone specific part of dns.
This is not an option since the firewall prevents access to the rodc. This will cause all kinds of delays on our network with authentication (there's an option to make the RODC the least favorite option but this still won't prevent it from being consulted).
Is there an option to solve this through DNS on the b.com side by manually creating the srv records (which all point to the rodc)? Or are there other options perhaps (or am I on the wrong track with the not knowing in which site it is and thus not finding
    the rodc)? Thanks!

anyone? Any tips would be helpful.

  • EAP Authentication Failing (External DB account restriction)

    Hi,
I am using ACS 3.0 as my Access Server configured for LEAP authentication,Everything was working fine till 2 days back, All my wireless clients ver getting authenticated,
But suddenly they have stopped doing so, On checking the logs it says "External DB account restriction"
I am using Windows Group Mapping, Dont know why suddenly it has started behaving like this, Have made no changes on the user profiles/permissions from either ACS or windows servers.
    Any clue...suggestions..
    Thanks
    Maneesh

I'm having the same problem and it is quite frustrating... It should not be this difficult.
I've tried both IAS and ACS and I can not get either one of them to work. I'm sure it has something to do with certificates... I just don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I'm going to beat the stuffing out my server if I see "External DB account Restriction" one more time!
currently i'm trying to get ACS 3.2.1(trial) on Win2k SP3 to work and time and time again no matter how I try to install the certificate I create (following instructions in chapter 10 of the User Guide) I keep getting that infernal error. If someone out there could post SPECIFIC instructions about how they got their installation to work it would be GREATLY appreciated.

  • NTS Authentication and External Users

    Hi,
I am looking for advice on the following issue:
    Oracle:9.2.0.6
    OS:Windows 2000
This is a data warehouse and the data is loaded by batch scripts. To ensure that the batch scripts haven't got usernames and passwords hard coded then we used externally identified users. However to get this to work the parameter Autentication_Services has to be set to NTS. Therefore anyone who is in the ORA_DBA group can log into the database without a password, also anyone who is an administrator of the machine could potentially add themselves to the ORA_DBA group and then log into the database without a password.
Is there any way to use external autentication but then also force sysdba connections to specify a password?
Is it possible to just remove the ORA_DBA group without any impact?
Any clarification then please let me know
Thanks for your time and help
    Regards
    Seb

More details (architecture etc) would be needed to suggest any kind of solution.
Also content served is static or dynamic ? If content is dynamic then backend component (app) would expect identity to be propagated to it. This could be potential issue if internal user wont authenticate.
If it is static content then you can make use of rewrite rules / rewrite conditions to filter ip address (internal users should have some ip address range). Although you may have to do multiple url rewrite at apache level to by pass authentication.
One another solution is to implement zero sign on experience via WNA for internal users. WNA would take advantage of user's login to desktop. Hope this helps.

  • Doubt about authentication of external SMTP in SCOT

    Hello Guys,
I would like to know if anybody know how, if is possible to configuration in SCOT a external server of SMTP that it need of authentication.
I already made the configuration in SCOT and already change the parameter in Instance profile (RZ10), but I can't to send e-mail.
I Did a test in the same machine that I´m made the configuration in sap, I configuration a outlook in port 25 and the same SMTP server but there need information about authentication for exemple user and password of external smtp and there I can normaly to send email but in sap I Can't.
My doubt is : Is possible to configuration in SAP external e-mail that need authentication like user and password ?

I have a problem with receiving email into ERP IDES.
When I configured SMTP server with this

  • How to configure basic authentication for external services

I have a BPM Project (11g) and within the composite I've added an external Web Service reference. This service uses basic authentication.
I would like to deploy the composite with the username and password already configured.
I have tried setting oracle.webservices.auth.username as a binding property and also as a property but neither seem to work. When the composite is deployed the basic authentication username is blank within Enterprise Manager.
It also resets after updating it manually during subsequent releases.
    Any ideas?

    hi Mahender,
    Thanks for your posting!
For this issue, you could refer to this document and tutorials (Microsoft Antimalware Whitepaper ). And you need use the Azure Powershell (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn771718.aspx).

  • Wireless users Authentication of external repository? help?

    Hi people,
    My version is 9ias 1.0.2.2

  • AD authentication to external AD - XI R2?

    Hi all,
    We have the following situation:
    1. BOE XI R2 installed and the server is a part of active directory A
    2. BO server using IIS as application server (not Tomcat)
    3. BO users working in active directory B
    4. A and B are not in the same forest
    5. A and B have LAN visibility, but trusting or restructuring A and B to be part of the same forest is impossible
The task is to enable AD authentication (preferably over NTLM) on the BO server (AD A) against the users in AD B.
The very scarce documentation from BO on this subject suggests/states that both ADs must be in the same forest. Unfortunately there are reasons which prevents us from placing these domains in the same forest.
I think there should be some workaround, but can't figure it out. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!

We can work you around for 2 forests. Basically you should use AD for the local forest and LDAP-AD for the remote one. If you wan SSO you will need a JAS and can use infoview trusted auth for the LDAP users or SDK trusted auth .net code (not recommended).
SP1 for XI 3.0 will be our 1st version with true multi forest support. I'm not sure when it's going to be released (hopefully by the end of Q3 or early Q4) but we don't have an ETA right now.

  • How to integration obiee Authentication with external app?

now i need integrate obiee with external app(web application).
one user have 2 roles. one is teacher, others is school admin.
when he login in external app, the first screen show teacher and school amdin. he click teacher login in this system.
after user login in . system set the role into session.
then he want to see obiee dashboard in external app side.
in obiee side, i need do some resources control for this role.
but i how to get this role? i can get the two roles from LDAP server. but i need confirm user login in external app use which role?
i no idea for this .please help me.
    Thank you very much.

    Hi,
Sounds like your OBIEE apps needs to be able to get the role from the session (I assume database session), which means OBIEE needs to be able to get the same session from the external app. Does the external app set a cookie or something that would identify the session? If so use that cookie in OBIEE to get the session? More than likely need more details of the architecture of you external application!

  • OIM 11g Self Registration - authenticated against external data source

    Dear All,
Out of the box server registration is unauthenticated. How to make it authenticated?
    What configuration should I perform?
    Thank you for your help

    Hi,
I am assuming in clustered environment you are having two instances running.
It must be an issue with a single server,,because the problem is intermittent.
To see which server is causing problem....just perform the following steps:
    1) Stop server1 and keep running server2..and fire new registration request...
    2) stop server 2..and keep running server1.....and fire new registration request.
Using above, atleast you can see which server is causing the problem...
