Authentication Questions Deleted When Saving User View

I am working with IDM version 6, SP1
We wish to start using the user self server reset password function.
Howerver, the user authentication questions and answeres keep getting deleted.
Any time a user view is checked out and checked back in, the questions are deleted.
This happens from the Admin Interface, from workflows, and even from the BPE.
Has anyone seen this before and if so is there a fix?
Upgrading is a concideration but is not on the "Todo" list for quite a while.
This is a real problem as it is stopping us from moving forward with user self serve password resets.

We have a similar issue with version 7.0. I had posted questions about it here (forums) and have an open bug report in with Sun.
Searching on another forum (which you may or may not have access to), it looks like there is a bug -- at least in in version 7.0 -- where several pages are +"doing a setViewId and not setting it to readonly, so a checkout was done on the user for every page"+. It sounds like this bug may be fixed in version 7.1 and later. If I search through the jsps, I see liberal calls to "form.setViewId()".
I haven't yet tried explicitly setting these calls to readonly (I don't even know what the syntax would be at this point). Your problem sounds somewhat different (ours only occurs on failed validations) but perhaps you are seeing a similar bug in version 6.

That's the problem description, not a description of the fix. And while it talks about a different problem, we also see cases where if a validation fails when the user is entering data, AuthN questions are deleted, which is what makes me think this may be a similar problem.

1 Open the online web catalog in offline mode.
2. Navigate to /users/weblogic/_prefs/ folder,Right click and select permissions.
3. From the drop-down list select users and click on the List button.
4. Now, you can see all the users with access to this folder.
5. Grant your user FULL CONTROL on this folder and apply recursively to all files under this folder (click on Apply Recursively check box).
6. Restart The OBIEE Presentation Server.

I need to add code behind functionality that run when the user view the SP 2013 content pages, What is the best approach to do that?
is it add Delegate Control to master page?
is it add code behind to master page?
is there an event reviver for that?

According to me, for code behind stuff
Create master page(using module etc..), have the required placeholders in it.
Then, create a page that inherit from this master page, now you can use that placeholder in you page.
Lastly, place web parts in that placeholder. So, code behind will come with that master page .

Personal Data - Field value PERID deleted when saving

Hi,
When the user updates the personal data view in ESS the field Social Security - PERID gets updated with blank value (i.e. if you only change nationality or any other field). I'm not sure what is causing this, I'm not getting the same problem when updating the infotype directly in the backend.
Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Tracks deleted when saving song

Have a song with 3 sections of 8 bars length and 4 tracks with external audio in each section (total of 12 external audio tracks), in addition to two tracks in each section with loops. When I record the 9th or 10th external audio track, older tracks in other sections are deleted when I save the song. The ipad still has sufficient memory.
Any ideas?

Flash changes apostrophe to question mark when saving data?

Hi,
Ok these are the steps I take to create the problem within my Flash application.
1. Copy and paste a string from a word.doc which contains an apostrophe
2. I then save this data to a XML doc.
3. reload that XML data, now the apostrophe has changed to a square box
4. I then resave this data
5. I reload this data and now, the square box has changed to a question mark.
My question is, how do I stop this from happening other than not copying from a word doc?
Is there something extra I have to do when parsing the string into its saved format.
Currently what happens is:
1. Pass the string from the input box to an object
localTextObject.textData = myInput.text
2. The object is then parsed through a custom Object to XML parser
for example:
textNode.text = "";
textNode.text.appendChild( localTextObject.textData );
3. And then an XML file is saved local with this data in it.
Does Flash do something wonderful along the way as so by the third time around we have gone from a speech mark to a question mark?
Any help with solving this problem would be very much appreciated.

Apostrophes from word aren't part of the normal ASCII character set. They've been mucking up plain text forever...
You can use a RegEx to strip them out, or just change them to regular apostrophes. Something like so should work:
reg = new RegExp("“", "gi");
m = m.replace(reg, "");

All paths are deleted when saving as jpeg

This problem has been migrating and now is affecting all of my files.
When I save an image as a jpeg from the "Save As" dropdown menu (NOT save for web) all of my paths are gone when the image is repoened.

I was also having the same problem, some JPEG lost its path after saving....
My situation was, when i made a selection and convert it to work path with tolerance 0.5px and save the path. After that, saved it as another name but it still lost its all paths. I tried to increase the tolerance to 1px and then save it again, this time all the path still remained. we have to guess the tolerance where the path will not lost. I think this is not the case that affect the losing of the paths. After reading all the above posts, i guess it is related to Extensis Fusion plug in problem. I tried to remove away from photoshop plug in folder and tried with the image that caused the losing path, this time i had successfully save the work path no matter what tolerance was given.
I hope this will solve your problem.

Layers deleted when saving in CS5

I´ve saved a PNG with layers, frames, pages...etc and close it. When i resumed work next day and open the file again some elements and layers were gone. In every frame.
This is most annoying and it had happened a couple of times so i´m thinking of switching back to CS3 again where this odd behaviour didn´t happen.
Does anybody else experienced this kind of bug? Is Adobe aware of this?

Once it was with a PNG file with several pages and frames but yesterday it was a fresh new document with barely a dozen frames and just one layer.
In either case Fireworks have been running for hours and had already started to perform badly (that well know memory bug). I suspect it had something to do with that...

Text is being deleted when saving to PDF

I've been resistent to move to the upgraded Pages but did it anyways. Recently I've noticed that everytime I save my file as a PDF it cuts out some of the text I have in a table. It always happens when there are superscripts or subscripts used. Anybody else having this problem? I need to convert my pages docs to PDF as I'm a teacher, it's the only way to post things on our Moodle website as my school board is not very Apple compatible yet. Any fixes to this?

Whitespace deleted when saving FM XML

In FM 11, when I save a FM document into XML, the whitespacing between inline elements and after cross-refs is removed. Did anyone experience the same problem? Any solution available?

Java code changes deletes when saving webdynpro project

hi guys,
is it always necessary to create methods from wizards in the webdynpro view controller??? other wise if I am already in the code and create some new method which is not created by wizard, it is removed once I am going to save the changes in the java code.

Multiple users viewing/editing common records

Hi all. I'm running tomcat 5.5.17. My webapp involves creating/viewing/editing/saving records from a database. Multiple users can login to the app, and so multiple users may view a record. I want to avoid two users viewing & editing the same record, and then saving. Of course, the one who saves last will dictate what actually stays in the DB.
An easy-way-out I thought of was...I can keep a list in the servlet context, and when a user views a record, add their name, the record id, and a timestamp to this list. Then, it's easy to check who has been viewing/editing a record in the last X minutes, so it's equally easy to display a warning saying "Users also viewing this record in the last 10 minutes: User1, User2, User3." Whenever I add someone to the list, I'd also remove all stale entries (ones which have been in the list for longer than X minutes).
This isn't a great way to do it, of course. Optimally, I'd want to add and remove users from this list in real-time. Adding is no problem...I can execute whatever commands I need to in the servlet/jsp to add them to the list. Removing though...how can I remove them from the list? Well...WHEN do I want to remove them? When they stop viewing the record. As in, when they browse away from the page. Javascript has a window.onbeforeunload = function() { //do stuff } function...but I can't really run any jsp through there. Unless I open a new window which runs some jsp and closes immediately, but what kind of a solution is that.

Yeah, change your requirements.
In my opinion it should be the other way around: the first user who gets the record dictates the resulting state in the database, not the last one. One way to prevent multiple users from overwriting each others changes (a very rare occurence, but possible) is to use all the fields in a record to generate a where clause for the update or delete statement.
Example:
A record exists with a name field set to 'bill gates'.
User 1 selects this record
User 2 selects the same record
User 1 changes field 'name' to 'larry laffer'
User 1 saves the changed record to the database
User 2 changes one of the fields (BUT STILL HAS 'bill gates' AS THE NAME!)
User 2 saves the changed record to the database
Now in the where clause used in the update statement for user 2, somewhere there will be and name='bill gates'. This condition is now no longer true since the name was changed by user 1. The result: the update for user 2 will fail , 0 rows updated.
A very, very rare sql exception is always better than changes being lost in my opinion.

How to retain font-size when saving filled in form (pdf)

Hi,
I have a pdf form from an organization and when I fill in the (text)boxes, the more text I put in there, the font-size will adjust to fit everything in. However, when I save the pdf file and view it in a different pdf reader the font-size is too big and half of the text is not visible.
Also, the form contains some checkboxes/radiobuttons. When filling in the form they work just fine, but when saved and viewed both the yes and no are checked, even though I only checked one of them.
Anyone have any idea how I could fix this?

Ow.. I don't know the solution yet, but maybe something went wrong earlier with someone else who filled it in partially. I found the original on the internet and that seems to work so far.

Deletion of Local User Profiles

Hi,
I need to delete Windows 7 local user profiles and have the following requirements:
1. Only to perform the deletion once
2. Leave system (defautl, administrator and public) profiles in place
3. Not to attempt the deletion when a user is logged on
I initially thought of a script linked to a computer start up gpo, but was wondering whether SCCM 2012 could do this and if so, whether someone could give me a few pointers?

you should be able to delete user profiles provided that the local system account (the account that executes the script) do have the required permission.

AD account deleted when checking in Password View/User View

Hi All,
We have a custom workflow that allows our designated Password Admins to reset IDM passwords for users. What happens occasionally is that this action triggers a deletion of an AD account. It appears that the password is set as expected but the subsequent User View checkin results in the deletion of the AD account.
I have been up and down this trying to reproduce the problem in our test environments: unlinking the account, and then trying the password reset, unassigning the account and then trying the password reset, deleting the AD account on AD and then trying the password reset. I have not been able to reproduce this behaviour.
We are running Oracle Waveset 8.1.1.2.
The workflow only sets the IDM password using the Password View. And it ensures that the Lighthouse account is not locked using the User View. Below is the code snippet.
Has anyone run into this before? What am I missing here?

We are seeing a similar issue after the user has changed their AD password the account repeatedly gets locked out when they try to log into Jabber.
We are also using Cisco IM&P and our CUCM is LDAP synced
I am interested to know why you are asking if LDAP authentication is configured?
