Authentication Using JSP

Hi ,
am trying to authenticate against IS6.0 through JSP.JSP is running on tomcat and am using LDAP login bean(as given in sample) and am getting the following error
javax.security.auth.login.LoginException: Failed to create New AuthContextError while processing XML requestno protocol:

I am using Jsp to create a crystal report from an oracle database.To create a new report document,i am using the ReportClientDocument class in the
"com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.application.ReportClientDocument " package.
I am using this code:

 rpt.newDocument();The report application server running on my machine does not support this.
I have to use an IReportAppFactory interface method which is part of the package com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.managedreports.*,, in order to create a new report document.Can anbody help be know how to use this interface in a Jsp??

Hi Tim, For security reasons we do not save the database password with the report. There are a few ways to solve what you are trying to do:<ol><li>Use the Create Viewer JSP page wizard to auto-generate the code. You will need to use the API option and select the option to "Log on to existing data connections" as well as the option to "Connect the CrystalReportPageViewer" (Note: I suspect that the reason you had a blank page the first time you tried this is because you did not have an Output option selected) The code that is generated will provide you with the ability to pass in the database authentication and then launch the report in the viewer. </li><li>The other option is to use a JNDI Connection at runtime. If you setup a JNDI Data Source you should have the ability to store the database authentication with the Data Source. I deleted bounded code and In another Unit Test I created a simple login.jspx page and applied form based authentication but still facing same problem means something wrong in starting.

If yes, set the connection info for the subreports as well.

Using JSP to set form data and automatically submit

I am using JSP to extract the authentication details form the header, and then set these values and automatically submit them them to a javascript cookie function. I can extract the information, but setting and submitting to javascript seems to be a problem. I don't want to modify the original code because that may change, and if it does change, they can just copy the jsp block to the new page. Plus there may be more pages where I will need to do the same. Any suggestions?

I was wrong about the cookie. It doesn't set it in that html file, it just checks to see if a cookie exists, if it does, it passes the user through. Normally I would use a cookie bean to do this, but again I have to do this for multiple sites which have different values and encryption. I just want to pass the credentials through and then let the back end do the rest. Do you know of a better way? Thanks for replying.

Error in File uploading using jsp

I am tring to upload files to a mysql database using jsp.I have used BLOB type to store files.Iam using the JDBC driver mysql-connector-java-2.0-14-bin to connect the database with the jsp API.My problem is when i try to transfer a file of size which is less than the possible capacity through blob ,which is 1048576 bytes ( for example when a file of size 916KB is attempted to transfer) the following error is being generated.

Have you tried increasing the BLOB field greater than 1048576 or using a smaller file of say 1 or 2k as a test? There is no guarantee that the database will store the file with exactly the same size as the file on the filesystem, so the file might be more than 916k in the database.
Using BLOBs is a great way to destroy the performance of your database by the way :)

Using jsp:param

hi,
i am new to java and jsp programming and i am trying to use jsp:param nested in my
jsp:forward statement.
if i specify a value in jsp:param my page would display properly. however when i passed a variable in my jsp:param i get the error:

Facelet to crare web app, instead of using JSP; JSF1.2 spec in WebSphere6.1

Novice to JSF and Facelet. But, I had been using Struts since its inception.
I am required to use IBM's WebSphere Application Server 6.1 that comes with Servlet 2.4 and JSP 2.0. WebSphere 6.1 App Server limits me to using JSF 1.1. This is because, JSF 1.2 requires Servlet 2.5 and JSP 2.1, that is a part of WebSphere App Server 7.0; not a part of WebSphere 6.1.
Somebody suggested that it will be possible to use JSF 1.2 in WebSphere 6.1, if I were using Facelet, instead of JSP.
I am not eager to use JSF 1.1 and may have to forego JSF; unless and until I can use JSF 1.2.
The hold-up is that I cannot use JSF 1.2 spec in WebSphere 6.1. Is there is any way to use JSF 1.2 in WebSphere 6.1? Can I create an entire application using Facelet (instead of JSP) that will let me use JSF 1.2 spec in WebSphere 6.1? If so, how?
Here are my questions, especially because I am not very familiar with JSF and Facelet technology:
1. Can I use JSF 1.2 specification in WebSphere 6.1, if I were using facelet (as opposed to JSP) as my view technology?
2. Will it be possible to create an entire web app with facelt, instead o fusing any JSP at all? If so, how? Does it mean that all the GUI screens will only use facelet and no JSP at all?
3. Please explain how I can write a complex web app with 100s of screens using only facelet, instead of using JSP.
4. Please provide pointer on how JSF and facelet differ, or what are their demarcations boundaries.

How can I connect to SQL server database thru local network by using JSP?

I'm currently doing a project by using JSP..And I need to display record from the SQL Server database in our school's local network. May I know how can I do that? How can I write the code so that I can able to access the SQL Server databsase Throught school's network by using JSP? Please tell me step by step how can I do that. I'm using Tomcat 4.1 as Web Server. And I had J2SE and J2EE installed in my computer.

first you have to establish a ODBC DSN on your computer,
that connects to the database...you can do that from your control pannel.
i assume that the TOMCAT server is residing on your computer....(if the webserver is in other computer then you would have to create a System DSN on the data sources ODBC option in the settings>control pannel of that machine)
then you can use that DSN name to connect to the data base from the class file....for further assistance on how to create the class that access the tutorials in sun site.

This method returns an Array of splited Strings. how do i get the values from this array using jsp tags. I don't wanna put java code to achive that.

The JSTL forEach tag.
In fact if all you want to do is iterate over the comma separated list, the forEach tag supports that without having to use the split function.

Report generation using jsp

I am developing a website using jsp on tomcat.The site required a number of online report generation option from database(mysql).
My problem is-
1.how to generate different types of report other than simple html tag embedded within jsp .
2.How to store all those reports in a file(.txt or .doc).
N.B I dont want to use any reporting tool.

Don't know the problem specifically, but here are some suggestions to investigate:
Does it show anything in the page when you view source on it?
I would recommend using a servlet rather than a JSP page for this, if only for the fact the JSPs can insert carriage returns into places where you might not want them to. This might screw up the PDF file format?
Try setting the a link to the jsp, right-click and "save target as..." just to see if it gets any response at all - ie bypass the browser display.

How to download a file from server machine to client machine using jsp

Hi,
In my application, I have an excel file stored on my server machine. How can I download that excel file on to my client machine using jsp. Is there any other way I can open that file from my machine and save it in my machine using jsp/java?
Its an emergency for me to do this.
Can anyone provide me the full code to download a file from server machine as I don't have
time to browse through various sites.

String disHeader = "Attachment; Filename=\"filename\"";The filename should just be the file's name. Not the complete path to the file! This will tell anyone where the file is located on the server. It's also inconvenient because by default,the browser will suggest it as the name for the download.

How can I display a confirm box using JSP?

I am new to the Java language; please help!
What I'd like to do is to prompt the user, within a loop, to click OK to continue the loop or CANCEL to exit the loop. I've tried to use JavaScript in conjunction w/ Form submittion to handle the parameter passing ('true'/'false') of the confirm box to a JSP. Yet, every form submission will cause the JSP page to re-load from the top which is the incident I'd like to avoid.
Is there anyway I can have a confirm box written using JSP? Please help!!

if you do any modifications in the jsp page the whole page will be refreshed to show the latest result after modification.
if you dont want the whole page to be refreshed
you can pass the control to another page after the confirm box or you can use frames to your interest.

Client Certificate Mapping authentication using Active Directory across trusted forests

We currently have a setup where the on-premises environment and the cloud environment are based on two separate forests linked by a 1-way trust, i.e., the exist in the on-premises AD and the 1-way trust allows them to use their
credentials to login to a cloud domain joined server. This works fine with the Windows authentication.
We are now looking at implementing a 2-Factor authentication using Certificate. The PKI infrastructure exists in the On-Premises Forest. The users are able to successfully login to on-premise servers configured with "AD CLient Certificate
Mapping".
However, we are unable to achieve the same functionality on the cloud domain joined servers. I would like to know
1. Is this possible?
2. If yes, what do we need to do to make this work.
Just to clarify, we are able to authenticate using certificates by enabling anonymous authentication. However, we are unable to do the same after turning on "Client Certificate Mapping authentication using Active Directory"

We will eventually need it for smartcard logon on to desktop/console. However, at present, I am trying to use this for certificate based authentication on a web application.
To simulate the scenario, I setup up two separate forests and established a trust between them.
I then setup a Windows PKI in one of the forests and issued a client certificate to a user.
I then setup a web server in both the forests and configured them for anonymous authentication with Client SSL requirement configured.
I setup a test ASP page to capture the Login Info on both the servers.
With the client and the server in the same forest, I got the following results
Login Info
LOGON_USER: CORP\ASmith
AUTH_USER: CORP\ASmith
AUTH_TYPE: SSL/PCT
With the client in the domain with the PKI and the server in the other Forest, I got the following response

I tried the configuration with the Anonymous Authentication turned off and the AD CLient Certificate mapping turned on.
With the client and the server in the same forest, I am able to login to the default page. However, with the server in a trusted forest, I get the following error.
401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials.
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied
