Auto Alerts in Solution Manager!

I am tryting to configure Auto Alerts in Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1. I have configured the system landscape and created the RFC connections to satellite systems.
I want to configure system monitoring in SolMan for Satellite systems with Auto Alerts.
I first configured the system monitoring in SolMan and assigned the processes to be monitored. Then I tried to configure Auto Alerts as following..
1) created the ARM ( Auto Reaction Method in Tx-RZ21) copying the existing one. ex: ccms_onalert_email
2) Assigned the Auto Reaction Method to the MTEs that I want to monitor in satellite system ( in Tx-RZ20)
3) Created the distribution list ( Tx-SO01)
4) Tried to send the message manually from Tx - SO01 and successful
5) I changed the threshold values to check if I get any autoalerts but Failed...:-(
I searched alot for the sap notes but finally confused.....
Please let me know if I am missing anything here...Or gimme your working exprience in steps..
Thanks,
Shai.

Srikishan,
Your article is a very helpful one. I did my configuration as it is in your article. But I do not get any auto alerts email notifications.
When I test the CCMS ping In RZ21. I get the below results.
CCMSPING: Test Results
Available Systems - CCMSPING call successful
Failed CCMSPING Calls
SID      CCMS_SYSTEM_PING_DEST
Agents that are reporting errors
CCMS_SYSTEM_PING_DEST
And in RZ20  I get the below results:
   Node display off
   Availability and Performance Overview
          Availability
              RFC-Destinations
              DDS
                  Availability: DDS
                      Availability                    0 %
CCMSPING/Configuration Error    Communication error when attempting to call CCMSPING; see CCMS_SelfMonitoring
For the Connection Data in monitoting and availability systems I did as following: ( ABAP Message server)
System     :          DDS
Description :         Sandbox System
Message Server Host Name :  bjrtssap1.ca.shainet.com
IP Service Name            ms.sapDDS_DVEBMGS20
Router String
Please let me know if I am missing any configuration here.
Thanks,
Shai

  • No EarlyWatch Alert for Solution Manager task in SDCCN

    Hello All,
We have configured SAP Solution Manager and managed system to generate EWA report.
In Solman, we have created the system, logical system and solution. We have activated the managed system in Setup EarlyWatch Alert in Solman.
In Managed system, we have activated SDCCN, assigned BACK RFC, created Maintenance package and refresh sessions.
However, after completing the Maintenance package task there is no EarlyWatch Alert for Solution Manager task created in managed system. We have reviewed the task logs and found no errors.
In Solman, when we create EWA for today's date the status is showing with an Hour glass stating that "Wait for session data: SAP EarlyWatch Alert and session number"
Kindly assist us in fixing this issue
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Satish

    Hi
the task "early watch alert for solution manager" created automatically when did you perform the task "refreh session" or "Maintenance Package"
please create the  relevant task, via : SDCCN -> Task -> Create ->Request session data ->Periodic -> Earlywatch Alert -> Continue.
'Schedule' the start date of the first session  and - Task -- create Click on 'Refresh sessions' - Press 'Enter' - Select 'Now', to schedule the job 'immediately. once you create the relevant tasks you go by,  in the Menu -  Goto -> start - to activate the Earlywatch alert session Now, you can check the finished EWA task in 'done' tab.
Login to Solution Manager, goto trx. DSWP --> Select your solution, Solution Monitoring - Earlywatch alert -  Click on Earlywatch alert --> start service processing --> Press 'OK' to start the background job - click 'Refresh'
Now, you can see the 'Early watch alert' in the green colour .

  • Central PI Monitoring and Alerting in Solution manager

According to SAP AG documentation [White Paper|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/104677d9-fc8c-2e10-dc92-c4e660b0dd8c?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true] - the Solution Manager 7.1 onward provides a central PI monitoring for technical componnents and buisness alerts in a single dashboard.
My question is : does the ALE monitoring status also included in this monitor?
does the SAP PI IDoc adapter (ABAP Based) of PI 7.11 can be monitored there as well?

    Hi,
As per the below help.com ALE/Interface monitoring still part of the Business process monitoring.

But again PI Idoc adaptor can be monitored using channel monitor of PI monitoring.

  • Early watch Alert in Solution Manager 7.1

    Hi All
Are there any sap reference guides on configuring Early watch on Solution Manager 7.1?
I tried looking this up in help.sap with little luck.
We have installed Early watch 7.1 and have run solman_setup till the Basic Configuration phase (with some errors though)
Is the managed system configuration a must for Early watch? Any guides or runbooks / notes from sap would be of great help.

  • Repeat sending alerts in Solution Manager 7.1

    Hi All,
When using CCMS, I can use ALM (alert management) tcodes ALRTCATDEF to repeat sending an alert from CCMS how many number of times as defined by me.  In solman 7.1, I could not find a parameter or configuration to do the same.  Does anyone know if it is possible in solman 7.1 MAI or any workarounds?

Multiple notification - With multiple notification the recipients receive several notifications for the same alert, if the alert is not confirmed. The recipients are notified as often as is specified in transaction ALRTCATDEF Properties tab Maximum number of deliveries. The time interval depends on the report execution interval

  • CCMS Solution Manager

    Hi,
I am trying first time configuration of CCMS auto alerts through Solution Manager 4, I would like to knows step by step configration with screenshots, using NW2004s 4.6C SP20 WA620 under Unix...
If anyone provide me information or URL I will be really appriciated
    Thanks in Advanced

    http://service.sap.com/monitoring
There's an in-depth setup guide to do those steps.
It doesn'T make sense to follow screenshots if you don't understand what's happening - and thus I recommend reading the setup guide.

you need to install CCMS agents(sapccm4x, sapccmsr) on satellite systems & configure them with the central system(solman).

  • Solution Manager SLA reporting

I use SolMan to create different SLA reports - for different clients in
    one solution.
The problem I'm facing is that the "General Settings for
SL Report xx" data are not saved for the report chosen, but for all
reports: the address, header and frontpage data saved as the last for
report x overwrites the same data for other reports. Additionally some
data even if can be entered there, are not fully displayed on the
report - sometimes they are shorter on the report than in configuration.
Is it possible to save the (for example) customer data for only one
report, and the different data for the other report?

    Hello,
No there are not any daily reports for Alerts on Solution Manager.
However there is a reporting functionality in Central Performance History Reporting in the Alert Monitor.
The functions of the Central Performance History (CPH) include creating report definitions and reports. You can also call these functions from the Monitoring Attributes - Detail Data screen in the Alert Monitor. All reporting functions are available to you, and operation is simpler (especially for creating standard reports):

  • Solution Manager 7.1 - Monitor scripts which runs as cron job at OS level ?

    Hi All,
We have Solution Manager 7.1 in our landscape and we have configured RCA, Monitoring.. Is it possible to Monitor the scripts running as Cron Job at the OS level?
If in case, the script stops due to an issue, we need to get the alert in Solution Manager.
Also can you please let us know whether it is possible to monitor jobs scheduled through external job scheduling tool.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Vaishali.K

    Hi,
How to Schedule the background Job at the OS level:
Invoke a sapevent using a OS script and then have a SAP background job set to run on a sapevent. I say this assuming Unix and a job in crontab. I would guess the same thing could be done on a Windows system.
