Auto start EP7 upon reboot without authentication
Hi,
How can you configure the EP7 SP12 portal in the Windows 2003 MSSQL environment to automatically start without having to authenticate after a reboot?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
Regards,
Rick
Hi Rick,
As padmanabhan said in Unix its possible using shell script, in windows you could try writing a bat file [batch file] and call it in Autoexec.bat.
To open Autoexec.bat file, goto start -> run -> sysedit
Thanks,

Opening items automatically when you log in
You can have applications, documents, or server connections open whenever you log in to your computer.
To make items open automatically when you log in:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Accounts, and then click Login Items.
Open the Login Items pane of Accounts preferences
Click the Add button, below the list of accounts.
Select an application, document, or server volume and click Add.
Select the Hide checkbox by an item you don’t want to be opened.
To temporarily prevent login items from opening when you log in, hold down the Shift key while clicking the Log In button in the login window. Continue to hold down the Shift key until you see the Dock.
To permanently stop an item from opening automatically, select it in the Login Items list and click the Delete button. -
Start BI Publisher Report without authentication
Hello
I'd like to start BI Publisher Reports from Apex using a simple URL but without having to login into BI Publisher. Is there a way to provide username/password in the URL ( like with Oracle Reports cgi) or another possibility avoiding to type in Publisher credentials?
I know there is a technique to start Publisher Reports from Apex using a webservice, but with this it isn't possible to show the output on screen.
Thank you
NorbertThank you Turribeach.
I tried the guest folder as we don't use SSO. Anyway I can't get it to work... maybe I got a wrong value for Guest Folder Name? The report lies in Shared Folders/Guest. If I use "Guest" for Guest Folder Name I receive the error "The report cannot be rendered because of an error, please contact the administrator.". If I start the report out of BIP it works fine. Any other setting of Guest Folder Name, i.e. "/Guest" or "/Shared Folder/Guest" will bring up the credentials dialog and after loggin in the report is displayed ok.
Any suggentions what's wrong or missing? -

Can anyone tell me how to make applications auto start after a reboot?
I am really fustrated about how I must allways start fussclock manually after a reboot.
Nopt sure if it can be done, but thanks for any help on the subject.Hello,
Here's how to do to this and not the least bit frustrating.
Open System Preferences, click on Accounts. When that window opens lick where it says: Login Items Now, under the box on the right click the box on the right. A dialog box will open. Navigate to the Applications folder, select the application you wish to launch on boot. *You may be prompted for your administrator password. Quit System Preferences and reboot. That's all there is to it.
Have a good day!

Guys,
Got an irritating problem with CRS not auto-starting after a reboot.
O/S - SLES 10 SP1
CRS - 10.2.0.1
RAC - 10.2.0.3
2 node cluster
I have issued the command 'crctl enable crs' and also tried '/etc/init.d/init.crs enable' which should activate CRS to auto-start but it doesn't.
I can manually start it with no problem.
Any ideas?
MattOk, not knowing too much about Linux sys admin I've learnt something new from your post in that inittab defines what gets started on boot. Nice one.
The last three lines in inittab look like this:
h1:35:respawn:/etc/init.d/init.evmd run >/dev/null 2>&1 </dev/null
h2:35:respawn:/etc/init.d/init.cssd fatal >/dev/null 2>&1 </dev/null
h3:35:respawn:/etc/init.d/init.crsd run >/dev/null 2>&1 </dev/null
(I've had to manually type this into the post cos the server is on a closed network so I can't copy and paste.)
Anyway, that looks like it might be correct? Is there a log I can check to see what actually happened on boot? -
Auto start bi services on reboot
Any suggestions on the best way to auto start the BI services like OC4J, SAW, SA, Scheduler using scripting when the server is reboot? Maybe include a delay between each and check each service is up.
/apps/OracleBI/setup/
nohup ./oc4j -start > nohup_oc4j_start.out &
./run-sa.sh start
./run-saw.sh start

How can I set the guests to auto start after the primary reboots?
For version 1.2 of LDOM software, how do I set the guests to automatically start after I reboot the primary? Right now if I do this:
ldm stop -f guest1
reboot primary
guest1 will be bound and manually started with ldm start
ldmd is set to start at boot.
Thanks, KevinTry running ldm set-var auto-boot\?=true guest1This will set the LDOM guest openboot parameter "auto-boot" to true and it should boot automatically when the Primary restarts.

Auto start emctl dbconsole on server reboots...
Hi All,
I am using Linux 5.3 Os and 10g (10.2.0.4) version of database.
I configured listener,db service and emctl service in auto start mode, means if my server gets rebooted then all these service should be up and running automatically.
this script is working fine but the issue is with "emctl" status.
after server reboots if I check emctl console through the url of "https://localhost:1158/em, then it is working .
but If I check manually this service through "emctl status dbconsole" it display as "not running", if I am going to start through "emctl start dbconsole" it display is already running.
now my question is: if this console is already up and running on machine reboots then why it disaply as "not running" when I check manually.
can any one suggest me?
Thanks,

I plugged IPOD in to sync ( first time in over a year) it auto started with the "Do Not Disconnect", but did not sync. Now the IPOD is stuck in that mode, won't shut off, won't sync, won't work. is there a way to reboot it?
It has already been 6 days from your post, my apology for responding so late, but it is my habit to help only the leftovers, which the other contributors missed.
Toggle the hold switch make sure there is no red showing.
To reboot an iPod. (Or RESET in Apple iPod jargon)
Press Menu and Center button for about 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON , this would not erase any data from your iPod.
I would advice you to leave the iPod charging for about 4 hours, if it has been discharged for 1 year or more, and also Apple recommends that you charge the iPod at least once a month, to prevent a discharged battery leakage, which may corrrode the circuitry in the iPod.
Hopefully you don't get the dreaded RED X on the iPod screen.

Auto-start OC4J process after Linux reboot
Oracle 11gR2, OC4J 10g (10.1.3.5.0), RHEL5 64 bit
Hi All,
I am trying to figure out how to get my oc4j process start at boot time. I already have a dbora script setup. I tried adding the following line to my dbora/dbstart script but it did not do anything:
#!/bin/sh
# chkconfig: 345 99 10
description: Oracle auto start-stop script.
ORACLE_OC4J_HOME=/u02/oc4j
JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_21/
su - $ORACLE_OWNER -c "$ORACLE_OC4J_HOME/bin/oc4j -start"
I read somewhere that I may need to put the entire path like:
/usr/bin/java -jar /path/to/oc4j.jar &
Just not sure where and how to put that path in the file.
Thanks for your help all.
JrOraDBAHi,
To run oc4j in the background, on Linux
Execute the following command:
nohup ./oc4j -start &
to run oc4j in the background. The 'nohup' command ignores the hangup signal (closing the terminal window) and enables oc4j to continue running in the background.
In rare cases, oc4j will not shutdown cleanly with the standard command:
./oc4j -shutdown -port 23791 -oc4jadmin <admin_pwd>
In those cases, try the following command:
java -jar admin_client.jar deployer:oc4j:localhost oc4jadmin <admin_pwd> -shutdown
to stop the oc4j service.
Thanks,

How to let database(10.2) auto startup when linux reboot?
Hi all,
I installed oracle database 10.2 in linux (x86),and created a database.
I can startup the database manually. But database can not be started up automatic when linux starts up.
How to let database startup automatic when OS starts up?
the details shell scripts for auto startup would be appreciated!
ThanksI don't know LINUX but I know Solaris. In Solaris, you have a startup and shutdown script in $ORACLE_HOME/bin. Setting the field to Y in oratab means you startup/shutdown the instance when executing the scripts. However, it does not mean the startup script will be
executed upon reboot. In solaris, we place a script in /etc/rc3.d. Then the script will be executed upon reboot. Guess you have similar features in Linux.
