Auto start processes at the root level

I am running a 10.3 server with both squid and dansguardian. Everything is running very smooth. But I don't know how to get both of them to start at boot. If I have a power failure and the system restarts, I want it to start both squid and danguardian on the root level automatically. I don't want the server to do an auto login with those just in the start up items. I hope I have made my request clear enough.

You need to create a StartupItem in /System/Library/StartupItems
Look at the existing StartupItems for a template of how to set them up - you need a directory for your script, plus a startup script and a StartupParameters.plist file. For most cases it's simplest to copy one of the existing items and edit it to your need.

    Hi RACES,
Based on your description, I'm afraid that it is not the correct forum for this issue, but maybe I could help you find a more appropriate forum.
If it is related to the Visual Studio Report Controls, you could select this forum:
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=vsreportcontrols
But if it is the SSRS issue, maybe this forum would be better for you:

All my reports are throwing below error in a sharepoint site configured with Access services. Does anyone have a clue what's causing it?
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)

    Hi Manvir,
For troubleshooting your issue, please go to C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\ find your Web Application (represented by a port number), then delete an unknown folder created by sharepoint, namely vti_cnf from all the folders and sub-folders in
    your web application.

  • Release Management 2013 Server Web Site throwing "Data at the root level is invalid..." error after applying RM 2013 Update 4

I upgraded our RM Server from 2013 Update 2 to Update 4. During smoke testing, I discovered that the RM approval website would get stuck and display a loading wheel when showing the list of releases. After rebooting the server and uninstalling and reinstalling,
I eventually got it to load the web site just fine, however the windows event log is displaying thousands of instances of the same error (about once a second).

  • Azure File Storage - Creating a directory at the root level using REST

I have a Xamarin / iOS project, and looking to use Azure File Share as a back-end.
With that in mind, I'm playing around with the REST API and have generally got things working with (a) Blobs and (b) Account-level access to Files.
Specifically, I can successfully request a list of File Shares, so I have the general call structure worked out.
However, I'm stumped about the exact incantation necessary to create a new directory at the root level of a share.
I've tried the following three variants, but all result in Forbidden - Server failed to authenticate the request
    request.Host: myaccount.file.core.windows.net
    request.AbsolutePath: /myshare/subdirname1
    request.Query: ?restype=directory
    string to sign: PUT\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nx-ms-date:Sun, 30 Nov 2014 16:07:25 GMT\nx-ms-version:2014-02-14\n/myaccount/myshare/subdirname1\nrestype:directory
    request.Host: myaccount.file.core.windows.net
    request.AbsolutePath: /myshare/subdirname1/
    request.Query: ?restype=directory
    string to sign: PUT\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nx-ms-date:Sun, 30 Nov 2014 16:07:58 GMT\nx-ms-version:2014-02-14\n/myaccount/myshare/subdirname1/\nrestype:directory
    request.Host: myaccount.file.core.windows.net
    request.AbsolutePath: /myshare//subdirname1
    request.Query: ?restype=directory
    string to sign: PUT\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nx-ms-date:Sun, 30 Nov 2014 16:06:16 GMT\nx-ms-version:2014-02-14\n/myaccount/myshare//subdirname1\nrestype:directory
I did note that trying to get the contents of an (empty) root directory doesn't behave quite the way I'd expect
    request.Host: myaccount.file.core.windows.net
    request.AbsolutePath: /myshare/
    request.Query: ?resttype=directory&comp=list
    string to sign: GET\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nx-ms-date:Sun, 30 Nov 2014 16:23:17 GMT\nx-ms-version:2014-02-14\n/myaccount/myshare/\ncomp:list\nrestype:directory
Authenticates OK, but generates FAILURE BadRequest - The requested URI does not represent any resource on the server.
Which is different behaviour from pulling the list of blobs from an empty container (returns 200 with an empty xml list of blobs.
I've been through the File Service REST API document (dn167006) and found the azurestoragesamples on codeplex, but the former is unclear on working with the root level and the latter is from 2011 and predates File Storage.
    Any insights?

First, thank you for the quick response and the suggestion about looking at the response content for the string to sign being used. I wasn't aware of that and obviously it's a fantastic resource for figuring this kind of stuff out.
And what it immediately revealed is it wasn't some subtle oddity in my construction of the STS, it was that I was doing a client.GetAsync(...) and not a client.PutAsync(...). DOH!
With that sorted, it was trivial to fix.
In terms of the List Directories and Files, though, there's still a problem.
FAILURE BadRequest - The requested URI does not represent any resource on the server.
       request.Host: myaccount.file.core.windows.net
       request.AbsolutePath: /myshare
       request.Query: ?resttype=directory&comp=list
       urlQuery: myshare?resttype=directory&comp=list
       string to sign: GET\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nx-ms-date:Sun, 30 Nov 2014 18:40:04 GMT\nx-ms-version:2014-02-14\n/myaccount/myshare\ncomp:list\nresttype:directory
    The response XML is
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Error>
        <Code>InvalidUri</Code>
<Message>The requested URI does not represent any resource on the server.\nRequestId:33d61aed-001a-0020-0cbd-51aea8000000\nTime:2014-11-30T18:40:04.9712797Z</Message>
        <UriPath>/myshare</UriPath>
    </Error>
I originally thought it might be because the share was empty. However, I'm targeting the same share in which I created (apparently successfully) the subdirectory.
So I'm still confuzzled on that.

  • Viewing only files at the root level in a folder?

Funny, John. LR's pretty intuitive, but it continues in the Photoshop tradition of a thousand things up its sleeves, if only you know where to look. I guess I was feeling helpful last night. I'll work on suppressing that :)

  • Bad idea to create new folders at the root level?

I have several clients who have been Mac user's since OS 8 and even earlier. When they transitioned to OS X they did not learn to use their local home folder properly and they continue to maintain a very cluttered folder structure at the root level of their hard drive. I believe one advantage they probably find is when sharing files the files are easy for other network users to find when they log on to each other's computers. But, I thought I read somewhere at one time that this was bad practice. Can anyone point me to a good article which explains the OS X file system that I can give these people to read? Or, am I worrying about nothing? I'm setting up an OS X Server for them so they can use Time Machine to backup - will the time machine backups contain all of these files and folders stored outside each user's folder?

I can't answer the first part, but yes, Time Machine will back-up the entire system (other than some specific system files, caches, logs, trash, etc.), unless they're specifically excluded via TM > Options (I suspect you wanted a different answer -- sorry).

  • How to pull the root level XML tags in the XML source-SSIS?

    Hi All,
Can anyone please help out with the following requirement?
There is a XML file data which I need to pull it to database. Please see the attached XML file.
Question: When I am trying to pull the root level data (i.e. CreationDateTime and FileNumber) from XML source in the dataflow, the respective tag is not seen in the input. Can anyone help me how can I get those values in my input to pull the data to Database?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sri

    Hi Sri,
In SQL Server Integrated Services, we can generate XML Schema (XSD) file based on a XML file with XML Source Editor. For more details, please refer to the following steps:
Double-click the XML Source in the Data Flow Task.
Browse the XML file for the XML location.
Click the Generate XSD button to generate an XSD file.
If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.
    Thanks,

  • Searching for a folder in document library doesn't work properly if the folder is at the root level.

    Hi,
I have a folder named FS0 on my sharepoint 2013 site. The folder is the first level folder under
Default Document library (Shared Documents). When I search for FS0 on the sharepoint site, the search result give a link to home.aspx and not the folder. If I search for any folder that is a second level folder in the library, I get a search result that takes
me inside the folder on clicking it. In my case, I search for a folder named FS1 which directly under FS0. The search result takes me inside FS1 in this case. How can I make the search result display proper links for root level folders also?<o:p></o:p>
    Thanks
    Pranava

    Hi Pranava,
I couldn't reproduce this issue, when I create root folder FS0 in "Shared Documents" and start a full crawl, I click the FS0 link from search results page, it will open the FS0 folder as well as folder under FS0.
Please right-click the FS0 name hyperlink (e.g. mine is http://sp/Shared%20Documents/FS0) and paste in IE browser see if it could be accessed successfully.
Also test if other Shared Documents have this issue in other site collection or web applications, if not, run a full crawl may do a trick (please reset search index if only full crawl still doesn't work).
    Thanks

  • Start-Process ignores the parameter "-wait" with explorer.exe

    Hi all,
maybe it´s a stupid question, but...
    Start-Process notepad.exe -Wait
...will wait for closing the process "notepad.exe".
    Start-Process explorer.exe -Wait
...will not wait for closing it, instead the script will go on.
My question: Why? :) is it because "explorer.exe" is a core element of Windows and there are more then one process? For whaty exactly is the parameter "-wait" waiting for? Finishing the process name, the Process ID?
    is it a bug?
Otherwise, do you have a good idea for that scenario:
a script will be started and opens a dedicated network share. Within this share the user (ServiceDesk Employee) can paste a CSV file, and after closing the Explorer, the script will read in this CSV and import that informations.
    Thank you guys!

I think the issue is due to explorer.exe is always running, if you stop that process, then you will lose your entire desktop. By opening File Explorer, a new explorer.exe process does not start up. You can verify this by opening task manager, and under the
process tab, look at your process count, and then open a few File Explorer windows, this count does not change.
Your script may need to be a two step process, where the Help Desk user manually copies the CSV file, then runs the script, or you can do a Read-Host, where they put in the path to the CSV file, and then your script can copy it to where it needs to go, and
    then continue its execution.

  • Folders on the root level of boot drive

Hello. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if there are long-term or detrimental consequences to keeping a folder called "C/" located on the root directory of my boot drive in Snow Leopard.
An explanation: I work at a television station, and one of our video distribution systems is switching from a satellite-based system to a web-based client and download distribution. The online Java client for this distribution method defaults to setting a download folder of "C:/Downloads" which is clearly more suitable for Windows than OS X. If the default remains unchanged when a mac user begins a download, a folder is created on the boot drive called "C/". Inside that folder is another folder called "Downloads".
If there are no ill effects to be had from keeping this folder structure on the boot drive permanently, I'll likely create a folder action that will simply move the mpeg files from "Downloads" to a server that will automatically convert the mpeg files to something more suitable for Final Cut Pro. The editors in my shop won't have to worry about changing the download folder EVERY TIME and manually moving the downloaded file to our conversion server.
Thank you to anyone who can provide some input on this. For the moment, I've gone ahead and set this up on a test machine, and I'm waiting to see if it blows up...:-)

Boy would I ever love that!
Since the distribution is being handled by a company that also has an integrated editing/playout system for video, I imagine it was designed to favor that system rather than our current Final Cut setup. I'll make it work either way, it's just whether I'll be happy about it or not.
I'll keep this thread open for a couple days, see if I can get some feedback on it. If at the end of a week, I haven't found any problems of my own, and can't get a definite yes or no from anyone else, I'll leave a follow-up and mark it solved.

  • Display Inbox when clicking on the root level of a mailbox?

I want the contents of the Inbox to display in the right hand pane, whenever I click on on the root of a mailbox/account. (without showing the Email, Accounts, Advanced Features splash screen - ever. Is there a way to configure Thunderbird to behave like this? I notice that Postbox does behave the way I want by default.

I suggest you use Postbox. Thunderbird will not be replacing the settings screen with the inbox. It will be having an updated display on that screen with much more detailed and useful information. But it will not be replaced.

  • I am trying to reinstall winows 7 on my iMac and it will not install. I am using the latest drivers ( v4.0) but I still get the black screen. I have made sure that the auto install and the drivers are at the root level on my USB flash drive.

I am reinstalling W7 on my iMac and keep getting the black screen. I had installed W7 before when using Snow Leapord but W7 doesn't want to install with the latest drivers (v4.0). W7 was working with Lion but I had to uninstall W7 and now I cannot reinstall.

NOTE: Just discovered that Adobe is making a bigger mess than any previously.
They now have a 32-bit uninstaller for Flash '''''AND''''' a separate 64-bit uninstaller for Flash. You will need the 64-bit uninstaller for what you had installed above.
    *32-bit uninstaller: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player_32bit.exe
    *64-bit uninstaller: download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player_64bit.exe

  • Unable to properly create new folder at the root level of exchange account

Using the latest version of Mail in OS 10.6 with an exchange server. Creating a subfolder within existing folders works perfectly. However, if I try to create a new folder at the very first level of hierarchy (directly under the inbox, not within an existing folder) it will not be created in the same location as my other folders. What will happen is, the folder will be created at the very bottom of all of my mail folders in an area that is labeled with the name of my exchange mailbox. This will be an area that only has folders that I created from within Mail on the Exchange server. All other exchange folder will be seen in the "Mailboxes" area directly underneath the exchange inbox.
FYI if I go into my exchange mailbox in a web browser and create a new folder directly underneath the inbox and then sync Mail for OS X, the folder will appear in the appropriate area. The issue only occurs when creating a new folder under the Inbox from within Mail.
Any solution here? My office is thinking of switching more computers from windows to mac, but we all run on Exchange and a glaring bug like this would make me think twice about rolling over to Mac for our office.
