Auto update problem in 1.5?

-In 1.4.2, when we put a new jar on the web server, the next time we logged into an application using webstart, it would show the progress bar as it loaded the application.
-In 1.5, the only way we can get the progress bar to show is if we delete temporary files when we put a new jar file on the server.
Any ideas?

Me too having the same problem. But in 1.4.2_05(build 04) , in our case webstart doesn't update the modified jar files in the cache.
If anyone knows the root cause or the solution, please update me too.

it check update ok, download update ok, but after download update i get the There was an error downloading the update. Error# 16824

Why don't you post some of the relevant lines for your application?
Makes hard to guess what the issue is otherwise.
The first line of your matching app file (<appname>-app.mxml) must have the same matching air sdk version as in...
<application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/2.6">
The version number if that same file must match the versionNumber in your update file, as in
<versionNumber>0.0.4</versionNumber>
Compile it and distribute it to the url specified in your update xml file

Flash Player Auto-update problems

Hi,
In our environment we have Win 7 64bit Pro PCs, IE10 and users are NOT administrators. We install Flask Player 11.8.x using the MSI silent switches, with the autoupdate service disabled, the scheduled task for auto-update deleted and the MMS.CFG file configured to AutoUpdateDisable=1.
My current problem is that some users have now been prompted to upgrade their Flash player. This occurs during logon with task manager showing "FlashUtil32_11_8_800_168_ActiveX.exe /update activex" as an active process.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing the autoupdate? IS it possibly casued by Internet Explorer initiating the ocx? Any ideas welcome.

I should have also mentioned that if a user clicks [Install]
and follows the instructions, after being taken to the Flash
download page and trying to install, our own Flash detection code
no longer works. This means our users are prevented from launching

Mac 10.7.5 Lion2012, and Sophos auto updat problem

I have Mac OS X 10.7.5 Lion 2012, as it was suggested in the forum, I downloaded the Sophos av for Mac, but I keep seeing the following warning in auto up date.   Please help

I have posted it on Sophos as well, along with 2 others that have the same problem and who had posted there issues even earlier than me, but no answer has been offered yet. I am using version 9.0.8

Mavericks AppStore Auto-Update Problems

Hi. I've checked all the boxes under system preferences to enable the AppStore to automatically update, download, and install content. However, it won't do it! There is never a notification, and I have to manually run the store, and go to updates and do it myself. I've talked to apple about this, and they we're baffled. I had to reset all the plist files and everything, but that didn't help. I would really like to solve this. My question is this: do I have to run the store, or will it check every now and then without it running? Also, do I have to be on power? I was on battery for three hours and it didn't check, and then on power for another three hours and it didn't check either. Seems to me, I'm missing something. System Preferences show it hasn't checked in a few days, despite everything being checked... Thank you for your help.

I already had it set to Auto check -> Auto download -> No auto install
but it's not auto downloaded.
I would like to know when should I expect it kick in (start to download). Because it says it will download in the background. And I remember i read somewhere it would download when I'm not using the mac. (can't find it now) So I assume there is a logic to tell mac when it should try/start download the updates.

What "auto shutdown problem" are you talking about?

Problems with login on iPod after auto update of S...

My father-in-law "V" uses Skype on iPod. Recently Skype auto-updated and "V" could no longer login into his account. I tried to help, sending his email on file to Skype and getting instructions on how to reset password. I suspected that he just forgot right spelling of his PW. Email came from Skype with instructions on resetting PW, but I noticed that Skype name mentined there is almost right. Almost is because it had extra "1" in the end, which "V" did not have. I had to delete and re-install Skype on his iPod to make it work. I tried to use his correct Skype name in Login space and new password, but it did not work. Then I used his name with extra"1" at the end as in Skype's email and newly changed PW. And it worked, but surely enough, all his contacts were gone.
How can we restore his login to right name which he always used? This, I assume, would solve problem of vanished contacts. How come his Skype name suddenly changed without "V" himself doing that?

In reference to the linked article I already had the ipod options set to automatically update the podcasts for selected episodes. I just set it to manual and back to automatic, perhaps this will fix it. The mysterious podcasts playlist has appeared twice today for me so far.

Adobe PS Element 2 auto-update 2nite causing problems - suggestions please

I understand that this is really an issue I should post on the Adobe forum [on their web-page] since it is their product that is causing this problem, and I will as a last resort if need be.
In a nutshell, I'll be brief with my problem.
-I'm using PS Elements version 2.0.2 (which I did purchase)
-Program worked super until tonight
-tonight when I opened it [to play around with a photo], it attempted to, what I think, attempted to auto-update itself via the internet
- I'm on DSL but gave it plenty of time to auto-update 2 files
- visually, screen gave me a bar indicating time remaining for update to finish, however, even when bar indicator is completely full the auto-update won't proceed further [just hangs there with a full bar]
- forced quit. rebooted. opened again. Elements again goes through same routine and sticks at a full indicator bar and I can't proceed.
Brief technical info. on what PS Elements tells me it is installing
- AWEX Files.txt to Mac HD: Library: Application Support: Adobe: Web:
Conclusion: I could care less if it updates itself, I just want it to work again. If I need to delete files in folders I'll do it - whatever it takes, please help.

Geez, I thought Adobe finally fixed that bug. You might try unplugging your computer from the Internet and then try launching Elements. Without a connection it ought to just shrug its virtual shoulders and then launch without the stupid, and to you completely pointless, web crud update. There is not now, nor will there ever be again, any updates to Elements 2 of any interest to the actual user. If does indeed launch without the Internet connection, you can then go to Elements->Prefences and at the bottom of menu select Adobe Online... and then set the "Check for updates" to Never. Click OK and your problem should be solved.

You may select how and whether Firefox updates, although like most software it may be sensible to keep it up-to-date, it is more likely to remain secure and compatible with other software whilst up to date.

Cisco Auto Update Failure - Problem @ Cisco??

My sensor has stopped doing auto updates & there's been no config changes on the sensor. When tyring to access the update URL via a web browser I get the following error:
We are unable to process your request at this time. Please try again later. If the problem persits, please contact customer Support. We apologize for any inconveninence this may cause.
SmartNET contract is valid for the IPS.

I am also having problems. Running on an ASA 5510, been auto updating fine for over a year, but no longer is. I have always been using the default URL. I even set everything back to defaults, re-entered my login info, and still have the same issue.
I've placed newer (but not the newest) signatures on a FTP server and the ASA will pick those up, but not from Cisco.com.
The error in the logs says "uri does not contain a valid ip address" but searching for this is fruitless. The Cisco.com url I'm using, the default, is "https://198.133.219.25//cgi-bin/front.x/ida/locator/locator.pl". I'm running 6.1(1)E2 currently on signature 351 which I updated to yesterday via FTP. It will not download 352.

MSI KT6 Delta and Auto update page problem

Hi, I have been lookin for the right forum to post this on for awhile heh but I have an MSI KT6 Delta FIS2R which has an auto update feature that uses an icon on ur desktop called MSI Live Update. This utility has been working for quite some time now but all of a sudden i get an error message in quote

okay well I did that but does not seem to be working... also after just reading FAQ i noticed that the live update service is being updated which coul dbe causing the problem as well, but i dont know how accurate the date is on that I mean it is a FAQ. Firefox auto-update bounces back end forth between 3.6.11 and 3.6.12

Firefox keeps going through the following apparently endless cycle: It realizes it's not on the latest version and auto-updates from 3.6.11 to 3.6.12. Everything is fine for a few uses, then it tells me it needs to reboot to complete an update, upon which its "completion" of the update results in it reverting back to 3.6.11. After a few uses of that version the entire cycle repeats (It again wants to install an update to 3.6.12)... and so it continues

How do I roll-back to the previous version of Firefox? An auto update occurred and now one of the programs used at the office (ACT! v6.0 SwiftMail) won't run with the browser.

The office I work in uses a very old version of ACT!, an accounting package. This package has a component called SwiftPage, an antiquated email system that enables us to email from the ACT DB. SwiftPage runs via the web browser.
Firefox just did an auto update (that I will have to find out how to turn off) and now SwiftPage won't run as it is not compatible.
Can I "roll-back" my version of Firefox or do I have to uninstall and try to re-install an older version?

Many add-ons do in fact work if you force them to run. The procedure to roll-back is given in this article: [[installing previous versions of firefox]]
Unfortunately the official Firefox policy is that you downgrade to 3.6 which is supported for a while longer, and not the now unsupported Firefox 4. If after installing and running the ''add-on compatibility reporter'' you still have problems there are ways around the official policy.
I think it is absurd that Firefox 4 may be used by tens of millions of users one day and a few days later those that upgrade to Firefox 5 should be not only told not to use a now unsupported browser, if they need to revert due to problems, but are actually obstructed in attempts to do so. My firefox recently updated. Now my pop mail server won't work. I did a 'restore' to last week, and it was fine. It has now auto updated. No mail server.

I have read through several responses to others who are having problems following an update. I am not computer savvy enough to understand half of the recommended 'solutions'. I need clear and definitive instructions of what to do. (Instruction for 'dummies' is what I need.) I can not 'restore' my computer continuously, only to have the auto updates cause the pop mail server to stop working each time. If there is nothing I can do, I guess I will have to stop using Mozilla Firefox. Can you help?

There is no solution for Firefox and POP. Firefox doesn't do email and has no need for a POP email server.
If you are using Firefox to view and send "email", you are accessing a webmail service provider.

Crashing on start up, auto-updating even when disabled & not allowing a safe toolbar add-on to download

I have followed all of the steps in all of the relevant help articles (http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-crashes-troubleshoot-prevent-and-get-help#w_get-help-fixing-this-crash), and nothing has fixed this problem.
I was running v17, and yesterday it auto-updated to v18 when I opened firefox. As soon as it updated it crashed, pressing 'restart firefox' did nothing, I could only quit. So I found an old install file, went back to v17, checked the option to ask permission before updating, run malwarebytes and spybot, so my PC is clean. This morning, same thing happened - auto update with no warning or permission given. Crashed. Repeatedly, restarted, closed everything else that was running, uninstalled and reinstalled the older stable version. Both times I spent a long time reinstalling add ons and themes. On top of that my goodapp toolbar from goodsearch will no longer be installed by firefox because 'it can't modify the necessary files'. All other add ons work fine, and I was using this toolbar with no issues in v17 only yesterday.
The second reinstall I clicked the option 'never check for updates'. But tonight, when I opened firefox, it updated without warning to v18 again and I was ready to switch to chrome after a decade of using this browser. There was no Firefox (safe mode) to run from my program files, and since I couldn't open the browser at all before it crashed, all I could do was uninstall and reinstall v17 for the third time in 24 hours and as you can imagine I am not very happy that your so-called stable release is anything but that. I think with the number of people having problems that you should stop work on v20 and actually accept there is a problem with this release instead of trying to blame it on malware.

This crash is usually caused by to malware and the involved randomly named file in your case is astktkra.dll as you can see in the modules list of the crash report.
Try to use MSConfig and disable that file to prevent it from getting started.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that allows to locate and remove the file either manually or with a malware scanner.
You will have to search the Windows registry (Ctrl+F) for references to that file and export and remove involved keys to avoid startup issues with missing files or alternatively use a registry cleaner like CCleaner.
If you are not comfortable with editing the registry then it is best to skip this step.

You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
