Automate actions in ACS 5

Hello,
I wanted to know how to automate actions in ACS 5. In many areas of the UI, we can either create new entries or import many entries with csv files. I wanted to know if it is possible to automate these actions such that the ACS, at regular basis, automatically import new and updated csv files. This will allow to keep the ACS synchronized with other database or files generated by other tools.
Is there a way to script on ACS to do that ?

Hi David,
Unfortunately as far as I know this is know possible. I checked the programming guide, and it seems mac addresses in end station filters is not an object that is importable:

The only option I see here is to make a pseudo web client which would interact with ACS thru HTTP, but this could be a bit long to develop.

Several partner recipients for Automatic action with partner determination

Hi everybody
I did define one action inside my Lead action profile to inform several employees about the Lead details.
I did customize the action with:
-Processing time: 1 Processing Using selection report
-Processing times not permited: No restriction
-Schedulle automatically
-Changeable in dialog
-Executable in dialog
PARTNER DEPENDENT:Partner Function Z3
action Mergin:Set Highest Number of Processed Actions
In the tab Action Merging i did choose One unprocessed action for each partner
I would like to send the same mail to several recipients,(each partner with the same partner function in the "Parties involved" tab).
My problem is that although there are as many actions generated as partner with Z· partner fuction, the mail is sended always to the main partner. (the first one with z3 partner function).
Can anyone help me with this?

Thank you very much for those quick answers.
I did try yet this customizing and it generates as many activities as partners with the same partner function. But when you execute them, the mail is sended to the first Partner introduced mail recipient althoug all them has the same partner Fuction.
For example:
Lead 111:
-Parties Involved:
Partner Function: "Employee Responsible" Employee: Frank Ellis
Partner Function: "Z3 Mantain Informed to" Employee: Michael Smith
Partner Function: "Z3 Mantain Informed to" Employee:Sara Ferguson
Actions:
Action 1 E mail to "Mantain Informed Partners"
Action 2 E mail to "Mantain Informed Partners"
When the action is executed both actions send the email to Michael Smith.
Why? I dont´t Know.
I can confirm yo that I did customize the action merging:
Action Merging: Set Highest Number of Processed Actions
Number of unprocessed actions: Une unprocessed action for each partner and processing type.

Create an automatic action script for 3d rotate effect

Is it possible to create an action script that automatically applyes the 3d rotate effect with specific settings?
An example would be when I press F2 it rotates the object instantly with my specific settings without ever having to press anything else.

ok.
draw yourself a shape, whatever you like. Go to Effect > 3D > Rotate and apply the settings you want.
with your object selected, go to the Graphic Styles palette (Window > Graphic styles) and create new graphic style (either in the palette menu or the little button). Call it something memorable.
draw a new object, again whatever you like. open the Actions palette (Window > Actions). Create new action. Give it a name and assign it to a Function key, then click OK (The action will start recording).
Select your new object, then pick your new Graphic Style from the graphic styles palette. it should apply your 3D settings to the new object.
click on the stop button at the bottom of the Actions palette.
create new object, select it, hit your chosen function key. enjoy.

Can you automate actions involving pairs of images?

Hi everyone,
This is my situation:
I want to take a headshot and a name and then paste both onto a background image and then save out the result. But I want to do this with many pairs of headshots and names. The headshot and name are each in separate images, and the background image is a separate image that will be the same for every pair. Using batch commands I know I can easily insert the headshots into the same background, or the names into the same background, but is there a way to insert both the name and headshot into this background and save out the results? From what I can tell, there doesn't seem to be a way to do this without getting into scripting.
I'm using Photshop CS5.5 with Windows.
Any answers would be appreciated.

Creating data driver graphics is one way to create the kind of collage you want. If you have all the information in a database or spread sheet they can mostlikelt create the CSV files you need to go with the template you create.
As been pointed out an other way to do it is with Photoshop Scripting however you need some to design some collage process. I put togeter a set of Script to populate Collage templates that follow four simple rules. It would be very easy to create a template for two images. The images can be stamped with the files name in one of 9 positions. The Ordere in which images will be populated from a source image folder can be controlled ny adding a sequence number followed by a # as a prefix to the file name example "100#John Doe Jr..jpg" "101#Bozo The Clown.psd" "200#George Washing.CR2" 201#Marther Washington.tif" Using the BatchMultiImageCollage scripu you select the two Image protrait template point to the source folder point at the target folder check that you want name stamps select the font and position. The prefix and extention will not be part of the name stamp.

Automate Action overriding export step

I have recorded a set of actions that I am automating for a few images. At the end I recorded the export and close steps (I records Save For Web - PNG 24 settings). The issue is that the script overrides each image once it's saved.
How can I run the image editing part of the script, and then insure that each file is being exported seperatly with a different name? Should I have not recorded the export part of the script?

thanks. I just tried that and it's still using the "test.jpg" name I give the recorded sample and then overwrites all automated images.
Do I need to run an image process Action and then run a Save As Action afterwards?
It looks like under File > Batch... that the files will be given a different 'starting Serial #' to differentiate.
Under my Save recorded action I have:
As: JPEG
Quality: 9
Matte: none
In: file name.test.jpg
This makes each image get replaced, how can I correct that?

Where is this "syslog portal" you were referring to? Is it at RME -> Tools -> Syslog -> Syslog Collector Status ( http://server-name:1741/rme/SyslogCollectorStatus.do )? If not, what does Syslog Collector Status show currently?
What version of RME are you using? What OS is LMS on?
What "process state" are SyslogAnalyzer and SyslogCollector in, at Common Services -> Server -> Admin -> Processes ( http://server-name:1741/cwhp/processMgt.do )?

Always prompted for action even though "Do this automatically" is checked.

Hi,
I have actions set to open PDF files in Adobe Acrobat 9.4; all things Adobe or PDF in the Options->Applications are set to "Adobe Acrobat 9.4 (default)".
Whenever I click on a PDF link in a page I *still* get the popup window asking me "What should Firefox do with this file". This dialog box has "Adobe Acrobat 9.4 (default)" selected for "Open with" and the "Do this automatically for files like this from now on" is checked. (FWIW I have also used the Adobe Acrobat 9.4 that doesn't have the "(default)" after it too.).
I can't seem to figure out how to make it open my PDFs in Acrobat without ALWAYS prompting me with the dialog box. Is there any way to have it just open Acrobat and the document without this additional prompting? It did this in the 3.whatever version I had and now too in the 4.0.1 version.

Automatic Start Actions for a Virtual Machine

Hi ,
We configure some VMs on a cluster
the default setting of automatic Start action is set to Nothing
when the cluster is down of hyper-v service is stopped , once the problem is solved , All VM will be run as it was running before the problem happened
So What is different between the following options of automatic Start action
Nothing
Automatically start if it was running when the service is stopped
And do you know why it is st for standalone Host not for the cluster as per this thread

FYI - Automatic Start Actions in the settings of a VM are different once the VM is HA under Clustering. Since the job of Clustering and HA is to keep that VM running.

"Automatically open a downloaded file" doesn't work.

When I download a file using Firefox, it asks me what I want to do with it (save it or open it with a certain program). I select to open it, and check the "Do this automatically for files like this from now on" box. Next time I download a file like that, it should just automatically open it with that program, right? It's not happening. Every time I download a file, I have to tell Firefox what to do, whether I've previously checked the box or not. In the settings dialogue, under Applications, the file type is listed, with the instruction to use that program. I don't believe it has ever worked like I think it should. Is this a bug, or something in my settings? Does anyone else have this issue?

Automatic actions are linked to a MIME (content) type and not to a file extension.
So if you set an automatically action and that same file type gets send with another content type then that automatically action won't work.

Automatic goods issue of components upon creation of Production Order

Hello gurus.
The business would like to have the components in a Production Order automatically issued (with Movement Type 261) upon the creation of a Production Order.
I was investigating this possibility under the Production Scheduling Profile option in IMG, but there is no automatic action for this.
Do you know of another way this could be achieved? I'd like to do this preferably without having to implement User Exits or Batch Jobs.

Automatic goods issue is not possible.
But you can certainly think of backflushing the components while confirming the order with CO15 or CO11N.
Make the required settings in material master, work center or routing. It will get copied to the order.
The same can be maintained in the order too.
There is one more option available in 'Define confirmation parameters' T code OPK4.
Execute the above T code.
In 'Generally valid settings', mark 'All components' under 'Goods moveemnt'.
Also in 'General individual entry' under 'Error handlings/ logs' mark ''Goods movement' & if required mark 'Termination for incorrect goods movement' so that if any problem arises with the GI/ GR, the termination would be terminated.

Email Actions with duplicate partners

HI All,
I am sending out 'automatic' emails using Actions to all partners having a "Z0000134" partner function on creation of a transaction. The other partner functions in the transactions are of the type Employee responsible and Z copy of Activity partner. The transaction is configured to have only one partner for a partner function. Also I have configured manual trigger of email actions for other partner functions.
My issue is that the automatic action determination fails, whenever the same partner is present for both Z0000134 and employee responsible or activity partner. I am not sure why this is happening and i have noticed that its a non issue if i schedule the automatic action to trigger for employee responsible on create of a transaction instead of Z0000134.
I think this has got to do something with the way sap merges the action with duplicate partners.
Can anyone help me with this?

Please see the oss note no. 621183 which explains this behaviour
(and also note 895546 point 4).
"If you want all partner functions/partner function categories to be
included in the action determination, deactivate BAdI implementation
CRM_ACTION_BADI or you program a new implementation that meets your
requirements."
Since the same business partner exists more than once, this behaviour is
seen. So please deactivate the Badi, and then retest, as this should resolve the issue.

Is it possible to import excel files automatically?

I am able to import the excel file manually and the same map I used in port.. format as excel.. its automatic action.. When I place the file it getting picked but giving structural exception... the same file I can manaully process successfully by selecting the same file using type as excel instead of Port...
When I select type as port, remote system .. when I want to select port I can see the port which I defined in console but they are disabled.. wondering where I did wrong?? is it possible to import excel files automatcially??

Yes you understood corectly.. I am unable to import excel file automatically.. I created a new port with the map which I used manually of type excel... Before placing the file in the ready folder of this newly created port.. I tried to manually import using the port type... I see the port is disable to select.....
If I place the fiile its throwing structural exception..... but the same file I am able to import using type as excel..
After structural exception..I am able to select this exceptional port in import manager of type port.. manually it is successfull using the same map and same file which got structural error....
In Console report says:
Error: MS Access is not supported on this platform.
Error: MS Excel is not supported on this platform.
I am working on MDM 5.5.65.95 AND WINDOWS 7 64bit..
Any inputs.

I would like to create an AppleScript that will run when I plug in my digital camera. Here is what I cannot figure out.

You can do all you requested - without 'AppleScript'.
01. Connect your camera launch 'Image Capture' ('/Applications/' folder - if it does not automatically launch.
02. Select the 'Image Capture, Preferences...' menu item.
03. Click on the 'General' tab.
04. From the 'Camera:' 'When a camera is connected, open:' pop up menu - select the 'Image Capture.app' menu item.
05. From the 'Devices' menu select your camera from the menu items list. A window will appear with the title of your camera.
06. From the 'Download To:' pop up menu select where to save the camera's photographs. You can select any folder anywhere on your hard disk drive(s).
07. Click the 'Options...' button, and from the drop down sheet click on the 'Connection Options' 'Automatically download all items' check box - to add a check mark. There are other options you may have be interested in.
08. Click on the 'OK' button.
09. If you want to download the photographs now - click on the window's 'Download All' button. Or, to test the above setting changes - quit 'Image Capture' and disconnect your camera. Then reconnect the camera - and watch the above setting changes take effect.
Note:
The above automatic action can also happen if the storage device of the camera were inserted into a USB digital camera card reader. So long as apply the Steps above, and you select the USB digital camera card reader from the 'Devices' menu's menu item list in Step 05 above.
'Image Capture' is not scriptable; but, may be control-able via 'tell application "System Events" to tell process "Image Capture" ....
When a camera is connect to the Mac, the storage card of the camera is mounted onto the 'Desktop' and also listed, as an alias, in the (invisible) '/Volumes/' folder.
Now that you know the name of the storage card ... you can create a 'Folder Action Script' (an example is presented below) and save it into the '/Library/Script/Folder Action Scripts/' folder,
Open the '/Volumes./' folder (in 'Finder' via 'Go, Go to Folder' - enter '/Volumes/').
Perform a right button click ('<control> - click, for single button users) on the 'Volumes' folder's window, and select 'Enable Folder Actions' (if not already).
Rpeat the right button click (<control> click) and select 'Attach a Folder Action...' - selecting your script ('Volumes_FAS.scpt' as shown below).
Below is a 'Folder Action Script' example - where you will have to substitute 'NO NAME' with the name of your digital camera's storage card's name.
