Automate color settings on 100 computers

Hello everyone!
That's my first post here.
I need to set custom color settings (.csf file) for 100 computers.
Any ideas how to do it?

I'm afraid that I don't have an answer to this, but would appreciate information on this too, as we have to introduce colour management across the company.
We have several hundred users, and would like to deploy a .csf file, and then at a later date implement synchronization to this across CS3 for all users.
Any ideas about how to go about this? I think our network guys are confident they can get the file out there, but is the later activation a possibility? Are there any server/ network based tools for controling machines en masse?
Any help most gratefully recieved.
Simon

  • I'm having a hard time understanding the best way I should have my color settings, set. Can I get someone's help with this?

I am scanning old photographs with an Epson V750 Pro and have a question on how my Photoshop should be set, or how the scanner should be set.
I have Photoshop 7.0 and it works fine, but I have started scanning some old photographs with my new Epson V750 Pro scanner and every time I go to open a scanned photograph, I receive a message reading:
My Photoshop's color setting are "custom" set: I never changed anything, but this is how I've always ued it and have never had any problem before. Is there a better way it should be set?
Right now these are the Color Settings:
Should any of these settings be different? If something in Photoshop should be changed, what should I do? I don't want to be asked this every time I open a scanned image.
Or, should any of the settings in the Epson Scanner when scanning?
    Right now:
The other color settings available are 48-bit Color and Color Smoothing, but sometimes when I use the 48-bit Color, Photoshop will give me an error when I go to save the edited scan, telling me there isn't enough space to save it. I have no idea why this happens because there is plenty of space, but I end up having to change the scan to 300dpi to save it.
Well, I don't know if any of this makes since, but I would love to receive any help. I would like to understand why I am having this problem and how the color settings should be, so I don't have this trouble anymore.
    Thanks,
    Sean

In Epson Scan, click Configuation at the bottom of the main window, and try these settings.
If it doesn't work, I think it'll  be ok converting to sRGB in Photoshop,
Edit: You can set PS to convert to sRGB automatically under Color Settings > Color Management  Policies > RGB.
But if you can control it from Epson Scan, that's probably preferrable.

  • Help with Color Settings/Profiles...White's look 'yellow' when exported to PowerPoint as a .png

I am running into this odd occurence and can't seem to figure it out.
First - I am not an expert in the Color settings/Profiles topic but I am thinking there is an issue here.
When I look at this image "McCroreyDigitalLogo.png" in Photoshop the 'whites' appear right.
Then when I import it into ms PowerPoint, the whites look yellowish.
I have done a series of 'tests' and it seems to be that the color profile out of photoshop and the one in PowerPoint are not compatible.
I have reset my Photoshop preferences with no luck/change to the results.
Finally, I did a screen shot out of photoshop and pasted that into Power point.  The white appeared correct.
Could use some guidance on how to fix this one. Basically any files I run through PS, when they are imported into PowerPoint, the whites turn yellow.
    Thanks in advance

PowerPoint is not a color managed program and can display the color values only in the color space of your monitor without any correction.
Color managed programs like Photoshop correct the color values when displaying them in order to simulate within the color space of your monitor other color spaces, for example sRGB, AdobeRGB, the color spaces of various printers, and etc. For this reason you can not match the color in non-color managed programs to the color of color managed programs but you can do the opposite match the color in Photoshop to PowerPoint.
There is two ways to do this:
One way is if you want the color values in Photoshop to remain the same but be displayed in the color space of your monitor which PowerPoint is using, you can either color proof with or assign your monitor profile to the document.
To color proof choose View > Proof Setup > Monitor RGB.
To assign, choose Edit > Assign Profile, select Profile and from the menu choose the color profile of your monitor. If you are not sure what's the name of the color profile of your monitor, go to the Color Settings, in the Working Spaces section use the RGB menu, scroll up and check what it says after Monitor RGB-
Both proof and assign will give the same result on your monitor but the difference is - the proof is temporary and will last only for the session and the profile, if embedded when saving the file, will stay and when open in other color managed programs including those on other users' computers the color space of your monitor will be simulated and for those users who don't use color managed programs the colors could be way off than if saved with a profile of a more common color space like sRGB.
The other way is If you want the appearance in Photoshop to remain but the color values converted to the color space of your monitor, choose Edit > Convert to Profile, and from the RGB menu choose the color profile of your monitor. This will preserve the appearance and also match the colors in PowerPoint but like proofing and assigning you are not seeing what other users may see on their computers.
It is not possible to see the same colors in color managed and non-color managed programs and at the same time simulate how others using different computers may see the colors because different monitors display color values differently. Color managed programs can simulate a common standard color space like sRGB while non-color managed programs can not.
Edit: Have in mind all this will work properly if you have a color profile that describes correctly how your monitor displays colors. What you did as described in your post #6 is assign a color space that may be different than the color space of your monitor. The result is when working in sRGB color space your color managed programs will match the non color managed programs on your monitor but that doesn't mean that the actual sRGB space is displayed and any other color space simulation could be based on a wrong monitor profile.

  • How to keep Adobe Flash Player up to date on 100 computers?

I would like to keep 100 computers updated to the latest Adobe Flash Player version when a new version is launched. The users do not have administrative privileges to install software and Adobe Flash Player cannot be updated automatically. There are cases when Adobe Flash Player disappears after a new version is launched.

  • MOnitor profile and Photoshop Color settings

I have performed the color calibration on my iMAC monitor with Eye One and the profile was loaded into the preferences of the system. The system ofcourse loads it on start up.
Do I have to enter this color profile in any of the Photoship CS4 preferences set ups, like color settings, or will Photoshop automatically assume the monitor profile at startup?
I mean: after calibrating the monitor, do I have to do further adjustments to PS CS4 color settings?
    Cheers.

    No.

  • Color Settings driving me crazy! Gray is pink.

Why, why, why is Photoshop insisting on doing strange things even though I've set everything I can possibly think of to "off"!?
I DO NOT want to color manage anything. I don't care about what it look likes when it goes to print, I only want my gray to be gray, not pink! And I don't mean that my monitor displays r=g=b like pink, I mean the RGB for masks, layer effects etc actually have values like R=125, G=120, B=111!
If I pick RGB(100, 100, 100) and use the pen (not even the brush) to draw a line in a mask, then when I eyedrop it, it reads RGB(105,100, 92).
I haven't dared even thinking about enabling color management. Who knows what would happen? :-)
Any suggestions what I should do to keep from going bananas?
    My settings:
RGB: Monitor RGB - Lenovo Thinkpad lcd monitor
CMYK: US web coated (swop) v2
    Gray: dot gain 20%
    Spot: dot gain 20%
    [ ] ask when opening
    Color management policies:
    RGB: off
    CMYK: off
    Gray: off
    Conversion options:
    Engine: Adobe (ace)
    Intent: relative colometric
    [x] use blackpoint
    [x] use dither
    Robert

You can't turn off color management in Photoshop, so you have to learn to live with it. Calibrate and profile your display, make sure Windoze knows which ICC profile to use (so Photoshop knows) and then in PS set your color settings to whatever RGB and CMYK color spaces you want to use.
This should make your color much better both in and out of PS.

  • Please help with correct color settings

I'm using ID CC. Depending on which one, my printers want my final PDFs either as PDF/x-1a (I know what it does in terms of flattening) or PDF/x-4.
I need all color images to wind up as CMYK regardless of what they were when placed. I need all 100%K blacks to stay that way and not get converted to a rich black.
Presently, my document color settings are as follows:
Settings: North America General Purpose 2
    Working Spaces:
    RGB: sRGB IE61966-2.1
CMYK U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2
    Color Management Policies:
    RGB: Preserve Embedded Profiles
CMYK: Preserve Numbers (Ignore LInked Profiles)
    Conversion Options:
    Engine: Adobe (ACE)
    Intent: Relative Colorimetric
I use the default settings for either PDF/x-1a or PDF/x-4 (plus having ink manager convert all spots to process) and and always receive a yellow warning triangle with the following warning under general:
The preset specifies source profiles that don't match the current color settings file. Profiles specified by the color settings file will be used.
What do I need to check in my document color settings to avoid that error message (the resulting files do seem to be correct for what I need; just want to make sure I've set it right in terms of that error). Of course, any other thoughts are always appreciated too.
Also, what should my document color settings be if the final document will be black & white (grayscale) and only contains data on the black plate?

    Peter Spier wrote:
That warning is normal and nothing to worry about. It just means your document color settings don't match the preset, and the document settings will be used, which you want.
But the other part of your post that IS bothersome is that by definition PDF/X-4 does not convert colors, and it preserves embedded profiles, so that color conversion can be done at the RIP. There's no way that's compatible with "I need all color images to wind up as CMYK regardless of what they were when placed."
Thank you. I had just begun testing PDF/X-4 at the insistence of people here that it was the way to go. Then it looks like for these jobs wehre I must wind up with everything as CMYK I should continue using PDF/x1-a which does do that and which I've used for that in the past.
What about for work that is all b/w (grayscale)? Any advice on settings for that?

  • Change Color Settings through Scripting

We're having an issue at my work where Photoshiop is frequently losing its Color Settings.  Is there a way to modify these settings through scripting, so I can have it run automatically?  The settings are:
    Working Spaces
    RGB:  sRGB IEC61966-2.1
    Color Management Policies
    RGB: Covert to Working RGB
Turn off “Ask when opening” for profile mismatches and missing profiles
    Conversion options
    Intent: Perceptual
    Thank you for your help.

May be one of these will help…? Add to the event manager… You should really be looking at why this happens thou… Change to suit your settings name…
    app.load( File( Folder.appData + 'Adobe/Color/Profiles/Recommended/CoatedFOGRA39.icc' ) );
    app.colorSettings = 'CoatedFOGRA39.icc';

  • Illustrators color settings

Let me start by saying that I don't want anyone to tell me to sync my color setting with bridge to fix this problem.  I only want to address a specific issue with Illustrators color settings.
In my workflow I embed a custom color profile to my images only, so I do this in Photoshop. when I have an image placed in Illustrator I tell Illustrator to ignore the embedded profile.
In color settings, I have color management turned off for RGB files, if I have the box checked to warn me if I have a profile mismatch I get a warning that asks if I want to use the embedded profile or ignore it. Illustrator defaults to have the profile embedded, which is not want I want to do, so if I uncheck the box to warn me if I have a profile mismatch, it automatically uses the embedded profile, even though in the color settings it says color management is turned off.
I would like to understand what the logic is here. If I print a tif file with my profile embedded it looks great, if I place this same image into Illustrator and print it looks differnt and bad. If I don't have the warning box checked and it is supposedly embedding this profile in Illustrator what is it actually doing? because it does not look like the photoshop tif, it looks flat and desaturated when printed.
I asked about this a while ago and never got an answer, but recently I think it was when I was loading CS4 I lost all my settings in my CS3 applications, and now I can't get the warning window to stick to the option on the bottom, and before I had gotten it to stick, so now my brain is used to looking at the warning but not having to change it to what I want.  I just keep wondering why when I tell Illustrator to not color manage it still does if I don't have the warning checked, but if I do have it checked it gives me this option.
I've tested this in CS4 and it does the same thing.

    John,
Yes to all of the questions or points you made! except the part about not being able to use the profile at the source file.  I am working in a closed loop, and one of the things we do is large format photographic printng, we feel we get better results keeping everything in RGB color for this output.  My understanding is that the profile is embedded and there is no way for any other other application to change that. As you said it would be interesting for someone else to chime in.
Here's the thing, I think this is a bug. I finally figured out how to get the warning window to show the correct option (to discard the profile) - if I change the color settings to the option "color management off" all of the settings we want appear, and it defaults to have the warning box checked, then when you open a file that has the differnt profile, the option to discard the profile is selected. Then if you go back and un-check the warning box, and still all the same settings everywhere else, it still chooses the correct option - to discard the profile. If I then go and change the color settings to some other option "north american....." and open a file.... then close.... then go back and just select the same options that match the color management options except now I did them manually so it says custom, it chooses to use the embedded color profile if I have the warning checked the option at the top is selected and if I have the box unchecked it uses this option.
This is the part that I think is a bug, and furthermore I would like to know what it is doing, it does something horrid to the color when it says it's using the embedded profile, when I tell it to not use the profile, it matches the tif printed with the profile embedded, and if I change the profile on the tiff and print it this changes the color as well so I know the profile is changing the color at final output.
Anyways my main frustration was that I had figured all this out when we first got CS3 and I do keep the warning box checked, but I have gotten used to not having to change the option, but just look at it to see the correct thing is selected, then when I lost my settings the other day, I had forgotten how I had arrived at getting everything correct in this round about way, I was half way through opening a bunch of files and realized that the wrong option was selected....just wondering why it would behave this way.
    Thanks for you input!

  • Deploy Color Settings to All Users

I've seen this hinted at elsewhere, but no clear answer.  We want all of our users to utilize North America Prepress 2 color settings.  As is, I have to remember to adjust this setting in Bridge after each user logs into their workstation for the first time.  Is there a file containing this setting that I can copy to all users profiles, or another way to deploy this setting to all users on a workstation?  Ideally, I would ultimately silently deploy this change to all workstations in the domain.  Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Unfortunately, it's impossible for all users.
In Windows 7, you can unlock removable data drives by using a password or a smart card. After you've started encryption, the drive can also be automatically unlocked on a specific computer for a specific user account.
However, the prerequisite is that user must have recovery key.

  • Undo creative suit color settings?

Is there a way to undo creative suit color settings in my Bridge CS5??
Now it automatically applies custom change (I'm guessing color profile) to my raw files every time I open them.
    Thanks.

I have purchaced and installed Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium in its whole and I get the same error message: "Suite Color Management is not enabled. Suite Color Management requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature."
What do you mean by "is only available via Suite"? What is "qualifying product"? Do I have to buy something more?

  • IE LAN Settings: "Automatically detect settings"

I'm currenting running Windows 7 Enterprise with IE8 and i'm having difficulty de-selecting the "Automatically detect settings" check box under LAN Settings.
I've configured my proxy settings using a GPO under the Internet Explorer Maintenance which are applying successfully but the "Automatically detect settings" remains selected even though i have disabled "Automatically detect configuration settings".
Can someone please help? I am trying to apply this on multipul computers so would prefer this to be done via GPO.

    Hi, Joanne
Firstly uncheck “Automatically detect settings” at the server where you configure Group Policy.
Or you can save below data to .reg file and input to your registry:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Connections]
    "DefaultConnectionSettings"=hex:46,00,00,00,bc,00,00,00,01,00,00,00,00,00,00,\

  • Synchronizing color settings in Adobe Bridge

I want to synchronize color settings in Adobe Bridge and I've currently installed photoshop extended CS5 and InDesing CS5.5 (these programs are not installed from any Adobe Creative Suite package. I mean these are not from:
Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Premium
Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Standard
Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Web Premium
Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium
    or
Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Master Collection
My adobe photoshop CS5 extended is downloaded as a single package from softarchive.net and so on InDesign CS5.5 is downloaded as a single package from softarchive.net.)
When I click Edit > Creative Suite Color Settings... from Adobe Bridge an error message appears:
Suite Color Management is not enabled.
Suite Color Management requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature.
    Can anyone help me?

I believe Suite Color Management is only installed when you install one of the editions of the Adobe Creative Suite.
You'll need go into Edit > Color Settings in Photoshop and in InDesign and use the same settings. That is, you'll have to do it more manually.

    Hi,
We recently introduced a Exchange 2010 server into our Exchange 2003 enviroment but had to stop migrating users over to it after it became appartent that users using Outlook 2010 could not switch on their Out Of Office, getting an "Your automatic reply settings

Running the Test E-mail AutoConfiguration shows no errors with the Log tab showing Autodiscover succeeded and the Results tab showing all the correct values, including a OOF URL of

  • Out of Office error: 'Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later.'

    Hi,
This is my first post in the forums. Please forgive me if it's in the wrong category or if it's not posted correctly in any way.
I'll try and give you below as much information about the problem we have here as I can.
    What we have:
    - an on-premises Windows 2012 Standard server that is the PDC, DNS and DHCP server;
    - a second Windows 2012 Standard server with the sole purpose of hosting our Exchange 2013 CU7 server;
    - Windows 7 PCs with Office Home and Business 2010 v.14.0.7143.5000 (32-bit);
    - Outlook 2010 connects through Outlook Anywhere (mail.ourdomain.com).
    The problem:
If trying to set up Out of Office through Outlook on the client PCs, we'd get an error message: 'Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later.' Interestingly, it does work normally for some users.
It works fine for all users if done through OWA.
    Tests performed:
User 1 on PC1 has the problem. User 2 on PC2 doesn't have the problem. Both users are members of the same security groups.
    - setting up User 2 on PC 1: the problem exists;
    - setting up User 1 on PC 2: the problem exists;
    - setting up a second Outlook profile on PC2 within User 2's domain account (the one that works), for the same User 2: the problem still exists!
I haven't been able to set up an Outlook account that works since this issue was discovered, although there are existing Outlook accounts that do not have the issue.
Let me also point out we have another issue we are working on and which may or may not be related: the Autodiscover function in Outlook doesn't work. Test E-mail AutoConfiguration results in 'Autoconfiguration was unable to determine your settings!'.
I can see postings in the Internet of other people having the same problem with OoO, but couldn't see a solution that fits my case: some existing accounts in Outlook are fine, other are not and newly created profiles of aforementioned working accounts do not
work. The majority of the articles/threads I read suggest recreating the Virtual Directories in Exchange, but we did that just a month ago (when troubleshooting the Autodiscover problem) and besides if the problem is in the Virtual Directories, I would expect
    it to affect all accounts.
Any help in resolving this problem would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you need other details.
Apologies if the posting is not in the right place or not done properly - I'm still learning.

The IIS log files on the CAS might tell you something. Depending on how your proxy server handles NAT the IP address of your connection might be from the proxy server instead of your client.
In any case, a tool like Fiddler (http://www.telerik.com/fiddler) can be extremely helpful in working on problems like this because it can decode the SSL traffic on the client and you can see what's being sent
    and what's being received.
Another thing to check (although it's unlikely to be your case) is whether or not your browser (when you try connecting to the autodiscover URL) thinks it's in the "Internet" zone. the "Local intranet", or at a "Trusted" site.
The domain names you use on machines on your LAN should be excluded from being proxyed. Anything with "." in the name will be set, unless excluded, to the proxy server.
Is the time correct on the client machine? Is it more than 5 minutes different to the Exchange machines and domain controllers? That'd be something that would cause Kerberos to fail.
A certificate can be a problem if its expired or if it doesn't have the correct names. But I wouldn't worry about the uglog.com domain just yet. Until you get the Autodiscover working with the SCP you have bigger problems.
If you've never used a WPAD file then don't worry about it. It's very useful if you have a complex network and you want to manage how browsers connect to servers. For example, if you have multiple proxy servers the each manage a different set of names, an/or
if some names should bypass proxy servers entirely and just connect directly. If run a strictly Microsoft network with only Microsoft product that you can manage with GPOs (and you can enforce those GPOs on every machine -- even the BYOD ones) you probably
    don't need a WPAD.
