Automate ZFD login

I'm looking to automate the ZFD login. We have a large number of PCs
that we need to audit, support and even push out applications to.
These PCs are not on our LAN or WAN. They login to their own NT or 2k
Domain and are spread out accross a large number of sites (around 10 or
15 PCs at each site, each site has its own unique Windows Domain). The
thing is, i want to use a generic eDirectory user name and password and
allow the users to continue logging on with their Active Directory name
without getting prompted for the ZENworks login. Is this possible???
Thanks

Synching AD to E-Dir is a very very simple process.
If you read the ZENworks docs, it will provide very simple step by step
instructions.
Seaching Support.Novell.Com for "AutoAdminLogon" and "ZENworks" should turn
up what you need to automate the logon.
The Novell Client is not required for all of the AutoAdminLogon features and
it can work in a Windows only setup.

  • Hi, I'm using Firefox 3.6.3 and I'd liek to know if there's a way to automate the login process for a website asking for credentials.

    I have a website I'm using very other on my company's Intranet, but it requires a username and password. I'd like to see if there's a way to automate the login credentials

    Thanks a lot for your swift response. And sorry if it was a bit too hectic to go through my detailed query (which I did because it was misunderstood when I asked previously). As I've mentioned above, I was informed that updating to 5.0.1 would '''require''' me to '''delete''' the current version and then install the new one. And doing so will involve losing all my bookmarks. I guess I should have been more specific and detailed there. By losing, I didn't mean losing them forever. I'm aware that they're secured in some place and deleting and installing the software doesn't harm its existence. What I meant that if I install the new version, I'd have to delete the old one. And after installing the new version, I'd have to transfer them (bookmarks) back from wherever they are. Get it? When it updated from 3.6.9 to 3.6.13, and from 3.6.13 to 3.6.18, I didn't need to follow that process. They were already present on their own.
    BTW, I'm having no problems with 3.6.18 but after learning about the existence of version 5.0.1, I'm a bit too eager to lay my hands over it.
    Thanks for your help; hope this wasn't extremely long.

  • Firefox 11 starts automatically at login - usual suspects eliminated

    How do I stop Firefox 11 from starting automatically on login? It starts automatically on one of the user accounts on my less-than-week-old Mac Air (OS X 10.7.3) is started, but not the other. I have investigated the usual suspects and found none of them guilty:
    1. The options associated with the icon do NOT have “Open at Login” checked;
    2. The Login Items for this user does NOT include a Firefox entry;
    3. Some have suggested a PopClip link, but I’ve not installed that;
    4. Some have found Firefox installed in an old installation of TOR Browser/Vidalia, but I haven’t installed that either;
    5. It is not an issue with the “Reopen windows when logging back in” option on the logout screen – it opens whether the box is checked or not and whether Firefox is open or not at logout;
    6. System Preferences -> General -> “Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps” is NOT checked.
    Any ideas?

    When Firefox starts, does it load any particular URL? I'm wondering if some other app that starts on login is trying to open some URL, which triggers Firefox to start. You could verify this by changing your default browser to Safari and seeing if Safari starts on login instead of Firefox.

  • Can I run xinit automatically on login?

    The question's in the topic: Can I run xinit automatically on login by a normal user?  Running xinit automatically starts Xfce, but I want to know if there's a way for that to happen automatically when I log in with a specific user (I've made a user specifically for Xfce only so I want that to run every time).  Thanks!

    How about the solution from the Wiki?

  • VPN to connect automatically on login (using OSX client) ? ? ? ?

    is there a way to make my VPN connection to connect automatically on login ?
    (so its connects on startup)
    im using Apple built in VPN client. . . .

    An application that is in the login items will bounce in the dock so how would expect a user not to know it is running.
    As you can start n stop a vpn service via the command line you could configure a launchd process to start a script.
    To easily create launchd processes you can use lingon
    This hint Accessing a VPN (PPTP) via the command line could be used to write a bash shell script.
    Or you could install a 3rd party command line vpn client see this hint Install vpnc as a replacement for the Cisco VPN client
    This would be done in the background.

  • Can't stop applications from opening automatically at login

    A few months ago I tried the "open at login" feature for 4 of the applications in my dock. I have decided it is more of a hassle than it's worth and unchecked "open at login." That didn't stop them from opening automatically. I went into Accounts and made sure the "Login Items" tab was empty. That also didn't work. I even added the programs into the tab, restarted and deleted them. I searched the Apple website and read that you can bypass applications launching automatically by holding shift at the blue screen on startup and then again after typing the password. I set the computer to not login automatically and hold shift every time I start the computer up. I would like to know if anyone else has had this problem and what they did about it. Is there a way to stop them from opening without having to log in every time? Thank you.

    go to the directory homedirectory/library/preferences and delete the files loginwindow.plist and com.apple.loginitems.plist. Then log out/in normally. nothing should start up by itself.

  • How do you make the dashboard open automatically at login?

    Ok, you know in your dock you can right click on any application icon and it will come up with some options, one of them being "Open at Login." Well, I want to automatically open the dashboard at login, but when I right click on the dashboard icon it does not give that option. How do I make the dashboard open automatically when I log in?

    There is a freeware app called "Dashboard Starter" that will start the DB up when you log-in, or anytime you force quit the Dock.app.
    Search www.macupdate.com for it.

  • Setting audio output levels automatically at login (even with command-line)

    When I log in, the audio level seems to be at the level set by the last user. Is there a way to get this to automatically set to my preferred level when I log in?
    A related question: Is there a command-line method of setting the audio level?
    Thanks in advance,

    Power Mac G5 Quad   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2GB ECC Memory

    u could use scripting...
    sudo osascript -e "set Volume 20"
    using that at the command line will change the volume level to 20.
    you could put that in a script or something and have it launch at login.

  • Why does word and excel open automatically at login, there is no check in front of Open at Login

    Every time I boot up the system OS X 10.9, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel open automatically.  When I click on W and E on the dock and right click Options, there is not a check mark beside "Open at Login".  It is 4 extra steps each morning to close the word and excel screens that open.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    When you shutdown do you uncheck this box:

  • Don't understand the automatic wifi login

    Here is my problem, I admit it might be me. For using the iPod on hotspots, mainly T-Mobile hotspots, I used two applications under OS2.2 which made it extremely convenient to log it. First with wifitrack I would find the hotspot and have it automatically connect to that hotspot. Next I would use an application like Hotconnect or something similar to enter my previously stored name and password. So pretty much two clicks on two applications and I was connected.
    Now OS3.0. Wifitrack will find the hotspot and connect. But as soon as I leave the application it looses the connect. OK, might be a problem with that app not working nicely under OS3.0.
    Instead now I have to use the build-in wifi scanner and connect with it. So far no problem. Then this new auto-connect feature takes control and opens automatically the log-in page of the hotspot. Only problem now is that I have always to enter name and password manually. Especially the name for the T-mobile hotspot is really long.
    When I ignore or cancel the login page and leave settings, the iPod will loose the connection to the hotspot and I have no chance to use one of the before mentioned apps (Hotconnect) to enter name and password automatically.
    Now of course I can do everything as mentioned above and manually enter name and password, but instead of two clicks it is now more in the range of 20.
    Anybody share the same problem or even better, have a solution?

    I am having the identical problem with AT&T WiFi hotspots at Starbucks.
    I have a first generation iPod Touch. I also have a registered Starbucks card which gives me free wifi at Starbucks stores using the AT&T WiFi network.
    When I had the version 2.x software on my iPod Touch, I used Easy WiFi to log on to the AT&T network at Starbucks-- it automatically held my login credentials and I did not have to go through the login/password/"I accept the terms" page on the AT&T splash page that showed up once I connected to the network at Starbucks. I would walk in, turn on the iPod touch, and within 10 seconds I was on the network ready to browse and check email.
    With iPhone software 3.0, there's a new login splash page that comes up when I go to connect with my Touch-- it looks exactly like the Safari page that used to come up before I had Easy Wi-Fi. I enter my credentials just as I had to do before I had Easy Wi-Fi, and I'm on the network. In other words, Easy Wi-Fi no longer handles this portion for me.
    When I return to Starbucks later in the day or on the next day, I have to go through the same drill all over again.
    I've read that supposedly the iPhone 3.0 software saves the login credentials somewhere, but I'll be darned if I can find it. I have to go through the login/password/"I accept the terms" page *every single time* I log in at Starbucks.
    I've tried forgetting the network, turning off and on WiFi... nothing works. I've gone so far as to completely wipe my iPod and start with the vanilla 3.0 software and the exact thing happens every time. The iPod does not remember my login credentials on the AT&T wireless hotspots at Starbucks.
    Am I missing something? It seems to me there's still a need for a program like Easy Wi-Fi because whatever is built into 3.0 sure isn't working for me.
    Sorry for the long post, but I'm hoping someone has the answer to this.

  • Manual Sync is working, but automatic and login & logout not working.

    I'm having a problem in that I can do a manual sync with the "Sync Home Now".
    However, whenever trying to have an automatic sync happen on it's own or the syncing to happen at login and logout. Syncing doesn't work.
    After turning on more version loggin from MirrorAgent I think I've narrowed down the problem.
    At login I see this:
    MHD: =============================================================================== =====================
    MHD: **** MirrorAgent-99.9.3 (8L2127) (pid 512) starting Sun Oct 22 13:54:51 2006
    MHD: Log verbosity level = 2.
    MHD: UID = 1027, EUID = 1027
    MHD: Empty thread
    MHD: Command thread starting.
    MHD: unpackhome: home->xmlSpec = "afp://192.168.102.3/Users"
    MHD: unpackhome: home->mhdPath = "ramos-m"
    However, "afp://192.168.102.3" is not where my home directory resides.
    Also at automatic time a similar message:
    Sun Oct 22 14:01:04.180 2006 * Syncing "HomeSync_Mirror"
    Trying to mount remote home server "afp://192.168.102.3/Users"
    Again wrong IP address. I've double and triple check the OD server and it's serving the correct info:
    HomeDirectory: <homedir><url>afp://172.16.1.101/Users</url><path>ramos-m</path></homedir>
    NFSHomeDirectory: /Network/Servers/BigMac.local/Users/ramos-m
    I've rebooted the client so many time I've lost count. I also continously get the message at login time "Your network home has changed since your last synchronization. Please select the location of your latest files."
    I've tried selecting both Network Home as well as Local Home many times yet I still have that old stuck IP address. How do I get the client to get unstuck with the old IP address and get the new one?

    I've found more info. I think I've found the file that has that string in it. There's a file called:
    /Users/ramos-m/Library/Mirrors/0016cb8b9896/mirrors.plist
    Which seems to have the string:
    <key>home_xmlSpec</key>
    <string>afp://192.168.102.3/Users</string>
    Which is the incorrect home. Why is this here and how do I fix it? Do I just put the right one in there? Somehow that feels wrong in that it's only a band-aid. Why isn't this file getting updated? What is it?
    Thanks,
    Rich

  • How do you get a disk image to mount automatically at login?

    I've created a disk image on my iMac in order to share my iPhoto library with multiple users.  I would like it to mount automatically when the computer boots up, rather than having to chase it down every time a user wants to access photos.  I know how to navigate to Login Options in System Pref/Users & Groups, but don't see any mechanism there for adding disks or apps to startup at login.  Thanks...

    Adding an application to startup.  I'm not quite sure what you mean by mounting a disk image but you could pop your dmg in there and see what happens at login.
