Automated Row Process not inserting correctly??

This is the first time I've gone through this, and if it worked I would be simply amazed. I have a button set to submit as INSERT. I have the checkbox checked inside my automated process allowing it to insert.
I did move some thigns around, just order numbers, but didn't rename anything. When I push the insert button it tells me that the action was processed, and branches to the next page, but it doesn't show up in the Database.
Any ideas of where to start here?

Neilio - It sounds like you have a form page. Does this page have an Automated Row Fetch process? Do the form items use Source Type 'Database Column'?

BLOB column not updating using automated row processing

I have fiddled around with creating a simple application to understand how APEX handles images stored in blobs - did a simple app that stores them, gets them, displays them. it all works great.
so i have this existing table/application that i am trying to add a BLOB column to here's what i did:
it's a pretty simple form on a table with report application. just one table.
I added the BLOB to the table (and the other mimetype etc cols as well).
i added the page items to the form page.
i basically made everything identical in terms of page item settings and such to the working simple application.
so here's the problem... when i run the application and update a row, the BLOB column isn't updating. neither are the mimetype or filename columns. the activity date col is.
and here's another interesting thing. i quickly created another form and report pair on the same table, and when i ran it, it updates the blob col just fine.
why is my original form not updating it? what can i do to remedy this? any ideas? i've gone though setting by setting for the blob page item and the one that works is identical to the one that doesn't.
i'm using the automatic row processing to update the table.

Gary,
The DML processes (and the creation wizards for them) are for use with items having source type Database Column. If your page items don't use this source type, then neither the Automated Row Fetch nor the Automatic Row Processesing (DML) process types will work.

Rows are not inserted in the order entered - Forms 4.5 to 9i database

hi
we are using forms 4.5 version with 9i oracle database.
when we save a multi-record block (for eg 5 rows)
the records are not inserted in the database in the
order in which they are entered.
for eg if we enter A,B,C,D,E Records and save
on query the records appearing in the order of C,D,E
A,B like that.
Is there any database parameter or setting which
effects the order of inserting rows in the database(when using forms 4.5).
Pls inform if you have any solution.

This is a very common misconception.
You should never concern yourself about the order in which rows are stored in the database. Oracle does not guarantee to return rows in any particular order so you must specify an order by clause when you select the rows.
Without an order by clause, there are various reasons why the order of selected rows could change in different circumstances, and the order in which they are stored should be treated as irrelevant.

Rows are not inserting from Loop

I have a problem with loop that after fetching columns into variables the only one row is inserting in the form not more than one.
For example: I select code 1 from LOV for insert its all record in the form but only one row is inserting.

External URL Processing not working correctly

Hi All,
I'm building and application where JSF engine will process external URL and take the user to the destined Detail page.
The user can reach this detail screen in two ways:
(1) Either login on to the system and navigating through the links.
(2) Or directly from the email-URL link
My concern relates to point 2 :
The user clicks some URL(http://localhost:8080/bt/someaction.faces?id=123456) in e-mail that will log the user into the system directly and then show the Details of the request. The details page has also other links. As I have learned recently - I'm using a ViewHandler class that overrides the createView method of the base Class com.sun.faces.application.ViewHandlerImpl. In this method for the passed request (in this case someaction.faces) I'm first processing userInformation(using cookie) and then calling return super.createView(fc, "/authdetails.jsp");
(authdetails.jsp being the details page.)
Now whenever I reach this authdetails.jsp by clicking the email URL, the subsequent links in the details page gets distorted. No matter which link(all the links are appended with "?id=123456" string) I click in the details page - instead of navigating to some other page it is opening up the same details page (by calling the DeatilsPageBean constructor) and showing a details page without any data.
However whenever I reach the details page from Login screen it is working fine.
Do I need to do some special configuration in faces-config.xml for correct processing of external URL.
Please let me know whether my approach is correct.

As an aside, let me say this:
IT IS WORKING PERFECTLY IN NETSCAPE 7.1 but not in IE 6.0.
i.e. When user clicks the link in email URL he is taken to details page. The details page has other links. When user clicks these links in Netscape 7.1 it is working fine and going to the destined pages, but not in IE 6.0.
I'm at a loss what to do!

DocProperty will not insert correctly

I am using Word 2010 Autofill option. I have a few document property fields set up for a document. There is one field that will not set. I set the property in the advanced properties-custom box along with the other properties that I have specified. In the
template I have inserted all of the properties in several places into the template from "quick parts"-"field"-"docproperty". There is one field "ProjectNum" with value "Project_Number" that will not stay. After
I insert it I can click outside it, then go back and right click it, and in the pop up it has a edit-field option which will display the property. Then I go work on another part of the doc and come back to the "Project_Number", right click
and the edit-field option will not be shown! At this point the "Project_Number" field is plain text! The other property fields work fine. I've also saved it as a new document template as well and have same problem. I tried renaming the field and
it's value as well.

I'm not completely sure what you are doing or what is happening, but
a. if you click Alt-F9, does your property field show up looking something like this:
{ DOCPROPERTY ProjectNum \*Mergeformat }
? (that's the "field code" view of the field).
b. if you right-click on the result of a document property field, the right-click menu will display different options depending on whether Word has detected a spelling/grammar error in the result (which it probably will, if the "proofing language"
is set to English and the result is "Project_Number"). Even in that case, if you click Alt-F9 to show the "field code" view, right-clicking should reveal the "field code" context menu.
If that is what is happening and you want to avoid that problem, select the field result and go to Review->Language->Set Proofing Language..., and check "Do Not Check Spelling or Grammar"

2 Automated Row Processes for one page?

Hey people, me again ...
i have created 2 Regions on my Page. Each region has databasefields which references: RegionA -> a view, RegionB --> a table with the same ID (customer) ID)
For each region i have an ARF, which was generated by the wizard.
When i had just one Region the rowfetch worked fine. Now that i have the second Region i get a failure: "Row cannot be fetched" (debug shows that this happen in my second ARF).
I tried to change the process point from AFTER Header to everything what i can choose ... same failure.
If i change the sequence
ARF_A from 10 to 20 and
ARF_B from 21 to 10 then everything in my SECOND Region is shown.
Same happens when i set "Set Memory Cache on display" for the second ARF.
Isn't it possible to habe 2 ARFs for one page?
Or where is my failure?

In my first region there is a view over 3 tables. Works fine. I don't want to put more tables in this view because it is very big already.
So i want to have another region with just a single table.
Is there no way to have two ARF - processes on same page?

Scientic characters not inserting correctly

Hi,
I work with Oracle Clinical 4.0.3 and occasionally have to use 'special' characters such as beta ß. Usually just use a ascii character map and type alt+225 etc.
However, this morning this does not appear to be working. Rather than ß I get SS.
Any ideas.

Understanding "automatic row processing"

hi,
i have problems understanding automatic row processing in apex.
at first i thought there is a relation between page process (fetch row, insert, update,...) and page items / reports.
something like: Item P1_TESTTEXTBOX (Source=Database Column => "TESTCOLUMN") referes to process "FETCH ROW FROM TESTTABLE"
but i havent found any relation.
then i thought there is a "global pool of database columns" (fetched, inserted, updated by a page processes)... when a fetch process loads data from a db-table, all columns from this table are stored in a "dictionary"...but this also didnt seems to be right.
i did some testing to understand the (row fetch) behavior but there a still some questions:
- i created 2 Processes (Data Manipulation -> Row Fetch) in "After Header" on 2 different Database tables but each with a Column "TESTCOLUMN" (for testing^^) . It didn't work properly: it seems that only one fetch process is executed .
I'm still not quite sure how automatic row processing (fetch, insert, update) is working...
are there any explanation about this issue? i havent found any information that goes into detail.

ok, some testing later i come to the conclusion that the automatic row processing works like this:
when a row (fetch) process starts, ALL binded Page Items (Source Type=Database Column) tries to load their data from the current fetch-process.
i tried to add 2 different Regions containing some Page Items (TextBox) that binds to a Database Column.
* Region1 should contain Artikle-Information (refers to DB-Table Article)
* Region2 should contain Article-Detail Informations (refers to DB-Table ArticleDetails)
i am not able to create 2 Row fetch processes in 1 page, because i got an error when the first row-fetch process starts "Column [XY] not found in table [YZ]"
obviously there is no way to "link" processes to regions, reports or page items.
or is it possible to create 2 regions (in 1 page) with automated row processing, that refers to different tables ? (region1/report1 => DBTable1, region2/report2 => DBTable2)?
(the only way i see is that i create a view that contains these 2 DBTables, so i only need one row fetch process for this page)

Automated Row Fetch Issue

I have a form based on a table where i have 2 keys as primary key (col1,col2)==>composite pk.
sample values are like:
col1 col2
1 21
2 21
62 21
62 1
But issue is at the point where the automatic row fetching is getting executed
[Automated Row Processing section on edit page]
Primary column value is col1(only one column is allowed in apex Auto row fetch)
Secondary key column is col2.
For ex, when i access the row for col1=62, it fetches 2 rows where value=62 (based on col1)
and i get error;
(exact fetch returns more than 1 row)
How to avoid this

Setting the proper page item in the Item Containing Secondary Key Column Value field and proper table column name in the Secondary Key Column of the row fetch screen should work. My off-the-cuff guess would be that either one of those fields does not have the correct value, or when you are branching to this page that the page item containing the secondary key is not being populated.

Page having PL/SQL process and Automatic Row Process for 2 different tables

Hi,
I have a page containing 2 regions A & B.
Region-A content would be updated to table T1(PK : Ticket#).
Region-B content would be inserted into table T2(PK: Attachment# ; FK: Ticket#).
Region-B is used for uploading a file content into T2.
Since I cannot use 2 DML processes on the page for 2 different tables with a common column, so I have a PL/SQL process to update the record into T1 and an Automatic Row Process(DML) for inserting into T2.
Now the issue is in Region-B when I select a file using 'Browse' button and click on Upload button to fire the Automatic Row Process, the success message is displayed but the file is not uploaded into the table. But when I moved the entire Region-B and the Automatic Row Process to a different page and clicking Upload is working fine and inserting the record into the table along with the file content.
An item P10_TICKET_NUMBER with source type as Database column with source value as TICKET_NUMBER is used in Region-A.
I have gone through the forums and found some of the threads below

Table not returning correct information

We had a problem where doing a select count(*) returned a number, but then when a select * was issued not rows were returned. Many iterations were tried. Some returning rows and others not. Then when trying to truncate FK errors occurred. Does anyone know what might have been the problem? Our solution was to drop and re-create the tables. This was in a test environment, but we don't want this to happen in production.

Something doesn't sound right to me. I haven't seen this happen in our Oracle databases but have seen this happen with a DB2 database
when an index was corrupt. The solution was to rebuild the index in that case. I'd issue a statement to validate the structure of the table
and its indexes:
analyze table table_name validate structure cascade;
From the 8.1.7 SQL manual:
VALIDATE STRUCTURE
Specify VALIDATE STRUCTURE to validate the structure of the analyzed object. The statistics collected by this clause are not used by the Oracle optimizer, as are
statistics collected by the COMPUTE STATISTICS and ESTIMATE STATISTICS clauses.
For a table, Oracle verifies the integrity of each of the table's data blocks and rows.
For a cluster, Oracle automatically validates the structure of the cluster's tables.
For a partitioned table, Oracle also verifies that each row belongs to the correct partition. If a row does not collate correctly, its rowid is inserted into the
INVALID_ROWS table.
For a temporary table, Oracle validates the structure of the table and its indexes during the current session.
For an index, Oracle verifies the integrity of each data block in the index and checks for block corruption. This clause does not confirm that each row in the table
has an index entry or that each index entry points to a row in the table. You can perform these operations by validating the structure of the table with the
CASCADE clause (described below).
Oracle stores statistics about the index in the data dictionary views INDEX_STATS and INDEX_HISTOGRAM.

INTO table

Hash Row Processing

When selecting a row for processing in an HTML DB application I would like to check to see if the row has been changed (by someone else) before I insert it with updated data. I was told that HTML DB has and internal Hash logarithm (by Anton) and I was wondering if I could access this logarithm for my own inserts.

The method you describe is exactly what I told Joe (who posted the question because we want to know more).
So, this is what we're really looking for. You obviously hash the values and store that hash somewhere. Then, before update, you hash and and compare to the stored hash. Can I reference the stored hash. I want to make use of the fetch, but don't want to use the automated row processing--I have my own api for updating data. So, if I can get the hash, and then I can use the same algorithm to check the hash, I know if I should do the update.
I realize I can do this on my own--just hash the value and store it, then check the hash before processing, but it would be nice to avoid that first hash step, as you have already done it.

Dreamweaver tables not displaying correctly in internet explorer browser, please help!!!!

Could someone please help me with this issue i've been having for almost a year now and can't find any information on getting this fixed, for some reason the features specs and required tables rows are not displaying correctly, the image is out of aligned when viewing the results using the internet explorer browser only, the firefox browser works just as needed but when i try to view the same code in IE the tables are not aligned properly and the text is not margined correctly either, i tried playing around with the css style that i have and no results. Please help me fix this issue so that my page would display in internet explorer just like under Firefox. Below are the pictures of the problem i'm having.

Try this without the border images and it will work in all browsers with increased text size. That's assuming eBay supports embedded CSS styles (which I'm not convinced they do). Inline styles are safer IMHO.

Not inserting records in a newly created table

Hi everybody,
I have imported four tables in a source module and used the Join Operator in order to insert the rows in one newly created table.
This table - designed in a target module - was created in the desired schema , but without the relevant rows , as I expected...
NOTE : the where clause , i have defined in the Join Operator, is not the problem , as I removed it and the rows are not inserted...in the table
Also , the sample PL/SQL code which was created automatically , was exactly as I expected - I mean the 'insert into ... select.....' clause was right...
What may be the problem..?

Sorry for being a little unclear ...
I have followed the instrunctions in the on-line help of OWB , and :
1) have imported four code tables into a source module . The tables are in an Oracle RDBMS 10g .
2)I have created manually a table - using the OWB client tool - which consisted of some of the columns found in the four tables .
3)I have inserted a Join Operator in order to correlate the four table columns with the columns of the target module.
4)I have defined the Join condition of the the four table columns. In my first post , unintenionally I have written that I removed the Join Operator. I meant the Join Condition in order to make sure that the join condition isn't the reason that the records are not inserted....
5)I have validated and generated the mapping without any errors - not even warnings.
6)I have selected Project->Deployment Manager and I selected the OWB_RUN user - which is the Runtime Repository owner.
7)I have selected the objects to deploy - the mapping , the one table I created in the target module. The deployment has succedded , and the table was created but no records are found in it.
Now , is there a possibility that this problem is caused by absence of the privileges to insert the rows...?
How can I check that the source tables are filled on the registered location of your source module?
Another basic question...
I have created a Runtime Repository owner - called owb_run- using the Runtime Repository Assistant . I use this user in order to deploy the mapping and the new table. I want -and it is created- that table in another schema (user his_dw) - even another database in the same server. Should I run the Runtime Repository owner in this schema (his_dw)???
