Automatic Packing at Delivery level using PACKMODI

Hello Friends,
To activate the automatic packing at delivery level without any packing instruction the PACKMODI enhancement can be used.
Am i Right??
If so Kindly share some inputs how to used this Enhanacemnt
It includes 3 User Exit.
There is no documentation provided for it.
Pl can any one explain its functionality
and how it is helping to packed automatically at delivery level

This is the doucmentation for this enhancement:
The extension PACKMODI contains user exits for automatic packing.                                                                               
As of Release 4.6C, the packing instruction determination and packing  
according to packing instruction functions are available for automated 
packing. New user exits in the form of  BADIs were created for automated
packing to add data to the packing instruction determination function or
to have the packing instruction that is to be used appear as a default.
The class for automated packing is called BADI_HU_AUTOPACK.                                                                               
Generally, customer functions after 4.6C only exist in order to be     
compatible with previous releases. If you want to implement your own   
automated packing logic, you should only do so by way of this new class.
It is not necessary to use packing instructions in order to implement  
your own automated packing logic.                                                                               
Therefore, the previous sample routines for filling in customer        
functions no longer exist.

    Packing can be done in 2 ways 1) Manually as u did it by selecting in delivery and 2) Automatically
    Automatic packaging instructions have to be written in pop1and pof1 with standard SHIP condition record determination has to be given.
    Make sure of the following settings.
    1. Go to *SPRO-
    2.Logistics Execution-
    3.Packing-Define packaging material types-
    4.Select ur packaging material type-
    5.In Plant Determination -Enter Plant proposed from the packaging material*.
    there are two logics regarding generation of delivery items for packaging materials. You can check those two cases in note 831204.
    case I)
    =====
    1) you should check transaction 0184 if a delivery item category is defined for the combination of your
    *delivery type +
    *item category group that is defined in the material master of the packaging material (should be 'VERP' in standard) -> in case of outbound deliveries it is defined under 'Sales' view of material master, -> in case of inbound deliveries the data in field 'General Item Category Group' is relevant under 'Basic data 1' view of material master) +
    *the item usage 'PACK'
    AND
    2) you should check your settings for the plant determination of the packaging material in tr. vhar -> this should be 'A' or 'B'

    ======
    1) same as in case I)
    AND
    2) check tr. 0vlk if 'Gen. pack.matl item' is flagged for your delivery type
    AND
    3) check your settings for generating delivery items for the packaging material in tr. vhar -> this should be 'A' or 'B'

  • Automatic packing of delivery through BAPI or function module

    Hello,
            I have a requirement to invoke the automatic packing functionality of a delivery through a delivery output type as soon as the delivery is saved in the system. We have a delivery output type ZPAC with special function. I am looking for a function module or BAPI which satisfies the functionality so that I can plug it in the custom program I develop to drive the ZPAC output type. Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.

    I am trying same function module "CBGL_LB61_LABEL_GENERATE" in SE37 to get a sense how it generate the file.
    But when i execute in different data combination, it never executed successfully.
    So do you have more info to execute this function module successfully.
    ex: I_label accepts a ID which is 4 digit. so which id it says here.

  • Packing at Shipment Level

    Hi All,
    I am trying to do packing at shipment level using IDocs. I am using IDoc type SHPMNT04 with message as SHPMNT. The process code which we are using is SHPM with Function module IDOC_INPUT_SHPMNT. Idoc type SHPMNT04 has segment E1EDL44 where we can give the Handling units details which needs to be used for packing. But no where in the process code, the system is processing this segment and hence packing is not working with this Idoc type.
    Can you please help me to do packing using Idoc type SHPMNT04.

    Select all the handling units and goto-Extra and select - Generation of SSCC number and system will generate teh SSCC number ranges as u have set.

  • Automatic HU Packing in Delivery Functionality

    Hi all,
    I have made all customizing settings for packing Material Automatically in HU in the Inbound Delivery.
    in VL32N when we Click the Button "Pack" it takes to HU packing screen.
    Here when I click the Automatic PAcking pushbutton the MAterial in the delivery gets packed automatically (HU is Created & it Packs the the material into it).
    My question is:-
    when the Inbound delivery is created how does the auto packing functionality work without manually going to VL32N & doing the things mentioned above?
    Please help
    Is there any BAPI or BADI which I can use so that it will automatically pack the material as soon as the delivery is created?

    It is customizing setting:
    SPRO: Logistics Execution>Shipping>Deliveries-->Define Delivery Types
    select delivery type (e.g. EL) go to details and mark Automatic Packing
    If this field is checked, the automatic packing proposal is retrieved when a delivery is created.

    Normally we update Matl Grp Pack.Matls field in BASIC DATA 1 of Material Master in Packaging Material Data section.
    Based on that details, you can get to know that if this needs to be Packed in What type of Material.
    Depending upon your design of Packing you can get to know when should you do the packing.

  • Automatic Packing Via IDOC

    Hi,
    As we are creating an Inbound delivery via IDOC, is there any settings to be provided in DELVRY05 idoc to let SAP know that it needs to do automatic packing.
    The issue here is when we create Inbound delivery manually, the packaging is done at different hierarchy level in the packaging screen.
    Whereas via creating through IDOC, we are able to get it done only at hierarchy level 0.
    You can check in EDI-PACK-TTL Content(Display HU screen)
    Doesn't standard SAP handle this via IDOC function module.

    You may want to investigate if you can use BAdi 'IDOC_CREATION_CHECK' to prevent the idocs from being created.
    Just use method IDOC_DATA_CHECK and clear the CREATE_IDOC flag based on the IDoc Type.

  • Issue in Automatic Packing

    Hi All,
    Automatic HU packing Functionality for Material A was working fine till I had one PAcking Instruction created in POP1 & assigned it in POF1.
    Now I want to use same PAcking Instructions for Material B. So I assigned Material B to same Packing Instructions in POP2.
    Also Assigned Packing INstructions in POF2.
    But when I add Material B in the scenario both of them are not working.
    Can anyone pleaze help me.

    Your understanding is absolutely correct. And I also understood now that if the materials are different than there has to be different packaging Instructions & than assign it in POF1.
    Yes practically it is correct. but what if I have to use same Packaging Material for another material also? Should i create new Packaging Instructions in the system?

    but there is no message as such. the problem is the material doesn't get packed automatically during INbpund delivery creation itself with the scenario mentioned by me in first message of this thread.

  • Problem in multilevel automatic packing

    Dear All,
    I am facing problem in Multilevel Automatic Packing of materials. I have done settings of the packing transaction profile; define check profile for packing status and of packing instruction determination in customizing. I am able to packing material upto 1 level only.
    I have already created packing instruction using T-code POP1 and also created subordinate packing instruction for packing handling units in next level, assigned this to packing determination record using T-code POF1. I have used 1st packing material as main material in next packing instruction and the larger size material as next handling unit. The settings are:
    POP1
    PI 1
    P 214 Target Qty 1
    M 22   Target Qty 1
    I  5     Target Qty 2
    PI 5
    P 215 Target Qty 1
    M 214 Target QTY 2
    POF1
    Determination record ABCD
    Material 22 PI 1
    I also tried different condition type for this process but didnt succeed
    I am not getting any error, just receive a message Handling units were created. But when I try to pack handling units using automatic packing option then system prompts me msg that there are no items to be packed.
    Kindly give me solution.

    I want to pack 1 medicine box in 1 small carton and then 10 small cartons in 1 Large Carton. I am able to pack 1 medicine box in 1 small carton thru automatic packing but not able to pack 10 small cartons in 1 Large carton. For this I have maintained packing instructions which are:

  • Packing Material delivery item should not be send via EDI

    Hello experts,
    I am having a problem with a cross company process. One plant uses the automatic delivery item generation of packing material because they want to have them in stock. But the receiving plant does not have them in stock. So, what we did, we created new packing materials for example 8500 and 1500 for a euro palett.
    And on the EDI server we swith the packing material of the HU from 8500 to 1500, which works well.
    But the problem is the delivery item of the packing material which should not be adviced to the receiving plant.
    Do you know any User-Exit or customizing functionality in order to send only the real materials to the receiving plant?
    I use the SPED message as well as DESADV Idocs where I need to cut the packing materials.

    I come to know from thread you do not need packing item in your stock.We did similar kind of packing process in our system.
    Our process also Cross company scenario .We have two SAP system .In one system they issue goods through an outbound delivery with packing information against SO.We will use the Goods issue information from other system to create Inbound delivery in other system.
    In the EDI file they send to us Pallet and Carton information along with file .So what we did we have created two packing articles ,One for carton and other one Pallet and these Values are maintained in TVARV table.
    We have used DESADV/DELVRY07 idoc to create inbound delivery.PI Creates the Inbound delivery Idoc with HU information from other system ,While posting the inbound delivery we  used our packing articles to pack the Inbound delivery items.

    First u assign credit group as 03 at pgi level in that particular sales order type in VOV8 document functionaliyt..
    If you are using simple credit check then Put error message there in credit check field of VOV8..
    In case of automatic credit check then please go to OVA8 t.code there u put reaction as warning message and then status as blocked...

    I Configured Automatic packing with packing instruction for my client and now getting 2 errors like In line 1 loop no packing proposal data could be determined and another error is No packing instruction found for material, While I maintained condition records for Packing instructions in POF1 & also created Packing instructions in POP1 Tcode.

    To trigger output from Handling Unit please see the following configuration settings:
    1) SPRO > Logistics Execution > Shipping > Basic Shipping Functions > Output Control > Output Determination > Maintain Output Determination for Handling Units
    Here maintain all necessary configuration based on business requirement.
    For triggering output at time of Goods Issue, first define proper Condition Table then define Access Sequence with reference to table and set Requirement field accordingly. Within Maintain Output Type assign the Access Sequence to the Output Type you are using. Finally, maintain & assign Output Determination Procedures.
    2) Inventory will get updated at time of Post Goods Issue at HU level, partial and complete quantities are supported.
    A. Posting Goods Issues for the Complete Quantity:
    Choose Logistics > Production > Production Control > Goods Movements > Material Staging > Goods Issue with HU
    Logistics > Central Functions > Handling Unit Management > Goods Movement for Handling Units > Goods Issue for Work Order
    Logistics > Material Management > Inventory Management > Goods Movement > Goods Movement for Handling Units > Goods Issue for Work Order
    Enter the order number and choose Propose HU.
    To post complete goods issues, choose <save>.
    B. Posting Partial Goods Issues:
    Choose Logistics > Production > Production Control > Goods Movements > Material Staging > Goods Issue with HU
    Logistics > Central Functions > Handling Unit Management > Goods Movement for Handling Units > Goods Issue for Work Order
    Logistics > Material Management > Inventory Management > Goods Movement > Goods Movement for Handling Units > Goods Issue for Work Order
    Select a HU and choose box icon.
    Change the quantity and choose <green check>.
    To change another item, continue as in step 3.
    To post the goods issues, choose <save>.
    3) You can decide per plant and order type whether partial goods issues are allowed. The setting in Customizing:Logistics General > Handling Unit Management > Basics > Production > Production Supply > Set partial GI Indicator.

  • Delivery Creation using Batch Jobs

    Hi,
    I have set up automatic delivery creation using a batch job ( vl10batch). The program selects all sales orders in the last 3 days and creates delivery.
    The problem is if in a sales order there are multiple line items each with a different delivery date.
    If the delivert dates for all the line items fall within last 3 days the program selects all 3 line items and ceates 1 single delivery.
    We would like to see a different delivery getting created for each line item.
    Example: Sales order has 3 line items
    Item A ( Del Date: 4/2/2010)
    Item B ( Del Date: 4/5/2010)
    Item C ( Del Date: 4/6/2010)
    The batch program runs and created 1 single delivery followed by 1 TO.
    Is there anyway we can seperate the deliveries based on date in the batch job?

    check sales order is not signed as "Complete delivery", register "shipping". On item level you can set "fixed date and quantity" in register "schedule lines".

  • Automatic creation of delivery for a PO

    Hi,
    We are in ECC 6.0. We have a requirement to automatically  create delivery for a product based on PO.
    Here is the scenario:
    We have a sub contracting scenario where in material MAT1is made by breaking up MAT2. 1CAR of MAT1 is made from 2 CAR of MAT2 and packaged.
    Now the requirement is when a when a Purchase order is created MAT1, we also manually create a delivery for MAT2s  for the subcontractor to pickup the stock of MAT2 to make MAT1.
    The requirement is when I create a PO for MAT1, the system should automatically create a delivery for MAT2. MAT2 is always in stock.
    I hope my explanation is clear.
    Can some body suggest me if there is a way to do this?

    Hi,
    I would try to build solution based on WF events related to PO creation. Once PO is created(saved in system), the event is being raised. Here you can build function where you check whether PO is for MAT1 -> if yes -> raise automatic delivery creation for MAT2 (two possibilities:
    1. use bapi 2. batch imput).
    for this, you have to have some WF knowledge.
