Automatic testing of some external options

Hello,
while executing one test case I need to do svn update and edit some file outside my launched application.
I already got some ideas from https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/t/805353/
One possibility would be to write a script and call it in a test case.
Is there any other solution?

I use selenium for webapp testing.

You can Record / Play scripts, you will only spend some time to learn how to wait for ajax calls to be completed. Go thru the docs, you shouldn't have any problem if you know Java / Unit Testing.

ADF rich client: How to automate testing

Hi Experts,
We need to do some automate testing against application that is developed with ADF Faces 11g, I've tried with loadrunner 8.1, which provides 2 approaches to record web applications, web(html / http) and web(click / script).
According to my experiment and this article , it's not feasible to record actions to rich client app with the first protocol.
As for the second one, according to my test, some of actions works and the others not (for example, input field, expand accordion).
My question is, Is there a solution to fully automate adf 11g UI interactions? Solutions based on loadrunner is preferred.

Sorry I didn't make my question clear. Selenium does fit in AJAX well, but seems that it lacks of ability to do stress test, what if we need highly concurrent workload(say, 5000 users)? Can selenium RC or some tools else generate that?
And, are you sure that loadrunner 8.1 is not feasible to do stress test against ADF rich client apps? I need a good reason to persuade my bosses to consider adopting new tools.

i have been blocked in firewall rules some external IP address but it will applied for all computers on LAN.
I would to know if is possible do it for only group of ip or vlan?

When you select the Source and Destination address you should be able to select Range. There is no option to select a VLAN.

Using Quality Center (v9.0) to automate testing in SAP- questions/guidence

Hi,
First time on the expert forums for me. Hope you are able to help provide some guidance on this area for me.
Overview is our client is looking to fully automate testing in SAP for patches/upgrades/new developments by using Quality Centre v9.0 (which was implemented for test management as part of upgrade to SAP ERP 6.0)
I am starting to investigate this for them and looking for some answers on queries I have / guidance on whta is required to meet this objective.
- I have read mention of "SAP Quality Centre". Is this different to HP Quality Centre that we currently have installed? If it is different to HP QC do you need the SAP Quality Centre version installed to be able to automate the testing? Or is SAP QC if you just want to do it stand alone without using Solution Manager?.
- To automate testing in QC 9 is the implementation of SAP Solutions Manager required to enable it?
- Are other tools required to be implemented to enable the automation of testing in SAP ERP with HP Quality Centre ? eg for the process modelling (I read about the use of ARIS earlier?) or is the modelling done in SAP Solution Manager functionality?
- Is there qa brief overview anywhere on SAP or HP site that states the steps to automate the testing. eg Is the detail in QC for the transactions/parameters to use for each test or is this in SAP Solution Manager/Modelling tool? Also effort required in the implementations that are required (application wise) and effort required to get tests set up to the level required for the automated testing.
Any help/advice is greatly appreciated. As you can tell I am coming at this form a point of nearly zero knowledge on how it all fits together/effort required.

I luv solman so if u ask me i can do all with solman itself and say not to go with Quality center
but again it is upto project requirement
it is very easy to build the automated scripts in QTP etc used with Quality center but again bit more complicated in ECATT
its upto the ur decision but if u r gng with manual test case management forgot quality center and go with Solman
So far i have done 5 Test Management implementation including both type of test casees automatic and manual and all are managed with solman
moreover if u get service desk configured in place then its integrated with solman test management whic helps u a lot.....
one step ahead go for Change management.

How to make sure all my automatic test case run in one session?

Hi guys,
I'm doing some automatic test for our products.
Now i'm hindered by an issue(maybe,due to my wrong configuration).
I've wrote some test method in a Coded UI Test project,and these run perfect on local machine.And i build an environment includes Builder Controller,Builder Agent,TestController and Test Agent etc, and that the test cases have been written
in MTM already.
After that,i built the project,deployed the project and run the Coded UI Test on Test Agent machine,and i found it seems that he test cases run on different sessions.I have no idea how to config or set up to make sure all my test cases
run just in one session.
Could anyone help me,please?

According to your description, could you please tell me what the different sessions are when you run the test cases in MTM?
Why did you want to run the test cases in one sessions?
where did you see the test cases run on different sessions?
Could you please tell me how many test agents machine you use to run these automatic test cases in MTM?
As far as I know that if you just use one test agent machine to run these automatic test cases in MTM, these test cases will be run one by one on the one test agent machine.
To help you solve this issue, please tell me more detail message about this issue.

10.5.6 update - NO access to some external FireWire hard drives

Have been capturing footage, editing, etc on external Western Digital MyBook Premium hard drive lately, including last night, and everything HAD worked fine under 10.5.5.
Just installed 10.5.6 update before going to bed, this morning Finder doesn't recognize same external MyBook hooked up via FireWire.
I tried:
(*) Reinstalling WD "button" software for MacOSX and rebooting... drive doesn't appear,
(*) Cycling power on external HD... drive doesn't appear,
(*) Different FireWire ports... drive doesn't appear,
(*) Disk Utility... drive doesn't appear,
(*) System Profiler... reports FIREWIRE BUS--> UNKNOWN DEVICE
Note: my old-school Granite Digital external FireWire drive does get recognized by both Finder and Disk Utility, so maybe it's only some external FireWire drives like the MyBook?
This may be related to similar thread in Leopard discussions about TimeMachine no longer recognizing external hard drives.
Really bad timing (my fault for installing 10.5.6 before more reports were in), and hope Apple gets a fix for this asap.

You don't.
Need a internal optical drive and the Hardware Test on disks is old and outdated anyway.
Your machine has lasted a long time, congratulations, they usually only last about 4-5 years.
They get clogged up with dust and overheat, kills the video card, there is nothing you can do as it's hardware damage over time.

Unable to select SOME external users in person or group column in SharePoint O365

Here's a head scratcher.
We have an O365 SharePoint(G3) instance.
Sent external users invites to join the site from the SharePoint Group that the external user will be placed.
External users accepted invitations and now have access to the site with the correct permissions.
Permissions assigned to SharePoint Group.
Some external users can be selected for "Assigned to" field (person or group column type).
Some external users canNOT be selected for "Assigned to" field (person or group column type).
When typing external users name that canNOT be selected, the error message "No results found" appears.
Went to Site Settings > Site Permisisons > Check Permissions and typed in external users name that canNOT be selected, the error message "No results found" appears.
I have no idea why this would happen for some external users and not others.
External users that can be selected and those that canNOT be selected are in the same SharePoint Group and have the same permissions.
Could this be due to how the external user set up their account?
Help me please. This is driving my crazy.

I have clicked on it, selected “Stack” and all is now fine, with both versions of the photo readable by “unstacking”, using the side arrows !!

C2-03 Lacking Some basic options

I have just buy C2-03 and disappointed with some basic options, kindly resolve them in next software update-
1- No option to Type message without opening slide keypad- please add onscreen keypad
2- No option to remove keypad lock during call inprogress and also no option to set keypad lock time.
3- No option to Mark messages to delete or move- please add mark option.
4- No way to decrease brigtness of phone.
5- No option to set different Ring tones for both SIM cards.
Please make these option available through new software update, besides these weekness the phone is excellent.

i think external is used when your source system is flat file. Normally the data from R/3 use internal format.

We are planning to implement eCatt automatic testing functionalities as part of current solution manager test plan management tools so that part of test cases in target ERP system would be launced in tester worklist as automatec cases.
How do you see is there any advantages in eCatt if compared to HP Quality Center testing? Advantages and disadvantages of both?

Some external Users are getting Duplicate Emails from our domain. I have Exchange 2013 and is properly configured. A user reported me that, I sent one email to the other domain's user, and it was delivered twice after 1 or 2 hours. I checked the Message
track log on exchange servers and email was resubmitted and sent from the edge server after 2 hours.
I have no idea why this is happening? can you please help me on this issue.

Maybe some hidden rules cause this, I suggest use MFCMapi tool to double check whether there is any hidden rules exist.

Are (some) external firewire 400 hard drives just cased sata drives? If so, I think I'd like to bust open my external 160GB Lacie and mount it internally...
I have no idea if they are or not, it just crossed my mind at one point.

Possible but unlikely. PATA drive remain less expensive in bulk and PATA ->FW enclosures are more mature and wide spread than SATA->FW. Larger drive cap. drives are more likely to be SATA.
