  • Automatization is possible or not??

    Hi,
Please help me in following scenario.....
Customer is creating and maintaining queries and workbooks in production BWP. They assign them to menu roles.
If we transport one of these roles from dev to production, it will overwrite the role in production, and all assignments of queries and workbooks to role will be lost.
To solve this issue and still allow customer to create and assign their own queries & workbooks, we could manually reassign queries & workbooks to roles and transport back periodically from production to dev so that there will be less gaps and reassignments to be done after transport.
In the meanwhile, customer is asking if it is possible to automatize this process.
To test whether this automatization is possible or not, we would need to know the table(s) of linking between ( queries, workbooks, views ) and roles.
Could you please help me looking for this SAP BW database table ? It would be very good if we can automatize this.
    Thanks & Regards
    Rupali Singh

You will need to write ABAP code for this (and you can put it in a chain or a job - to run periodically).
SAP stores the data relationships in many tables and so it is hard to be definitive about what tables you need to sync to ensure the roles are in sync. I would suggest you write (or seek help from an ABAPer) ABAP code that
    - reads AGR_HIER table from production (you can do it from DEV itself using say RFC_READ_TABLE FM over RFC)
    - Compares it with AGR_HIER table entries in DEV
    - Add any entries that are in Dev but not in prod to this table (INSERT/MODIFY)
This will make role folder in Dev appear similar to production. You can run this ABAP code periodically to sync the roles.
    - Disclaimer - you need to try it with one or two entries in roles to see if it actually works.
    - Disclaimer #2 - you will only have these entries in the role folder. The actual query/wb in production wouldn't have come across from production. So, if you try to open any of these workbooks in Dev, even though the link is there in the role folder, it will fail to open and give an error message.

  • Module changes in SAP from GAAP to IFRS

    Hi,
I would like to know from you IFRS experts with SAP if you could please tell me the following
What are actual changes within SAP modules FI, MM, PP, CO SD from GAAP to IFRS?
In addition, what are the actual physical field or option changes that will take place. (I know one is tax, which will affect tax juristicion input, acc in or out for balance sheet fields within FI)
I cant seem to put my finger on any other key changes within SAP, thank you.

This is a very open ended question. In general all the changes are within FICO currently (GL, AP, AR, Assets are the biggest). SAP R&D is currently looking into  enhancements within MM/SD to include New GL functionality.
From a field change standpoint, the biggest that come to mind are:
    - Ledger field can be input in FI postings (FB50L) to book to specific ledgers in New GL
    - Segment field, which can now be used for dimensional reporting.
Most of the fields stay the same, it's the nature in which they are treated that changes (biggest change: PROFIT CENTER if splitting is activated, GLPC* tables go away and move to the *flex tables).

  • Depreciate an asset in US GAAP (as it is a cost in US GAAP)

We have an asset that needs to be capitalized in local GAAP but it needs to be depreciated in full in US GAAP. The reason being it is considered a cost in US GAAP and asset in local GAAP. While creating the asset, user did not enter useful life as "0" in US GAAP for the asset. Depreciation for last 3 periods is already posted.
In this case, what would be the best approach to correct this scenario.
We tried changing the useful life of the asset in US GAAP to "0" but, the system is throwing an error message "Make required entry".
Is there any alternative approach that should be followed ?
    Thanks !

    Hi Somya
There are 2 ways you could have handled this
    1. Enter useful life as 0 Yrs and 1 month.. With a dep key based on useful life, the entire asset gets depreciated in the 1st month itself..
You can change the useful life now in a way that only 1 month remains.. Example - If you maintained useful life as 1 year, change it to 4 months now (3 months already over).. With this, entire NBV will get charged off as depreciation in the next AFAB run
    2. You can use depreciation key with Base Method 0017: Immediate Depreciation...
With this, the entire asset APC value  in Dep Area for US GAAP gets charged off to Depreciation

  • LOCAL GAAP and IFRS

    Hello Experts,
My client had dep area 01 for local gaap(posts leading ledger) and 30 as IFRS(posts non leading ledger), Delta dep area 31(31-01) post to non leading GL posting setup as below
Dep 01: Real depreciation   GL Posting indicator as 01  ledger group as leading ledger
Dep 30: real Depreciation area GL Posting indicator as 03( Posts Depreciation only) ledger group as non leading ledger
Dep 31: Derived Depreciation (delta between 01 and 30)  GL posting indicator as 06( Posts APC directly) ledger group as non leading ledger
The above set is as per the SAP standard setup.
    Questions:
    1. Delta Depreciation is not posting any difference depreciation to non leading ledger where client want to post the differences to non leading ledger.
how to achieve this, is any set up am I missing
Your advise would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mohini

    Hi Mohini
You need to run ASKBN so that the Delta dep posts to Ledger

  • Retained Earnings Roll Forward (GAAP vs. STAT)

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to set Closing Rules, so that you are able to run separate Retained Earnings roll forward, one for GAAP entries, and the other for Statutory Adjustments, with the Book Code field being your point to differentiate?
I have set a chartfield rule in our Clossing rules to capture only Book Code entries for GAAP, but when running the RE Roll Forward in testing, both the GAAP and Stat entries are being captured in the Roll Forward.
Appreciate if anyone has any suggestions on how you have approached completing separate Roll Forwards for GAAP vs. Stat.
    Thanks.

We don't roll it into retained earnings.  In fact, you cannot roll a balance sheet account into retained earnings.  We just report that account in the same financial statement node as the retained earnings account is in.

As per IFRS my entry for sale is
    Debtor a/c Dr. 95

  • GAAP reporting implications for US-owned Australian company

    Hi,
I work for an Australian company which has recently been privatised, with 50% now being owned by a US investment company.
We suspect now that we may need to provide Financial reporting information which complies with the GAAP requirements on behalf of the American Investment company.
Is anyone able to provide any background information or feedback or hints on what we may expect in relation to needing to provide information accorinding to the GAAP requirements?  Any information, such as standard reports in SAP, or processes or features in SAP which fulfill these reporting requirements would be appreciated.
We run SAP version 4.6c (SD, FI, CO, MM, Purchasing).
    Thanks
    Kevin

The standard SAP functionality addressing the issues of multiple accounting standards and reporting requirement is parallel ledger functionality. This is with the ECC 6.0 version.
You may need to first upgrade from 4.6 to ECC 6.0 and then go for the functional upgrade implementing the New GL functionality with parallel ledger addressing this issue.
However , the other option is to have the additional general ledger accounts for US GAAP specifc accounting entries in the areas of difference from Australian GAAP.

  • Balance sheet as per US GAAP

    Hi Gurus,
My client wants balance sheet as per Indian Accounting standards and at the same time they want as per US GAAP also, now we configured for Indian AS, is it available in SAP or we need to create two company codes map the balance sheet.
Please let me know, if any one knows about this, how we can go ahead in this situation.

    Hi Prasad,
Are you sure you have B1 2007B PL34?  To my knowledge, the highest PL for 2007B would be < 17.  To ask for the template this may not be appropriated either.
Make sure what is your current PL and ask the question that others may reply easier.
    Thanks,

  • Financial statements to comply with IFRS and US GAAP.

    Hi everyone,
We need to start reporting our external financial statements to comply with IFRS and US GAAP.
There are some primary differences in the 2 accounting principles relates to PPE (Fixed Assets/Capital Expenditure) and therefore multiple/different valuations of the assets, they need to be provided for.
Do you know how we can comply with both the IFRS and US GAAP reporting requirements in general using the tools in SAP ?
Thanks in advance and best regards.
    Dago

    Hi,
A few tips: Asset Area 1 should be mapped to IFRS and linked to leading ledger. Area 20 is mapped to GAAP and liked to non-leading ledger. Area 1 should be 100% depreciated to capital expenditure in the very first depreciation run, which will allow you to report capital expenditure at the end of the month. Area 20 is for depreciation over the life (the regular GAAP stuff).

  • Is there any way to launch a script or to automatize a task outside photoshop?

    Hi,
the title may not be precise, but i don't really know how to sum up my need in one sentence.
One of my customer want to create a system to traduce easily his media, originally built with photoshop.
Thus, he is searching a way to take a PSD file, extract the text content, make it traduced by a professional , then reintegrate it in the PSD.
I know there is some script you can launch on photoshop to export/import text data, but is there any way i can do it outside photoshop, so we can automatize it from a web platform? (i.e uploading the PSD file on a platform, extracting automatically the text and make it available through a traduction form, then modifying the PSD file with traduced text)
I heard that, in the past, Adobe was proposing "Altercast"  or graphics server offer to do so, but it seems that they are no more available.
Thanks a lot, and sorry for my poor english :b
    Antoine

There are a lot of tailor maid solutions for something like this, but not for Photoshop files I am afraid.
Most of the systems are build for Indesign or Illustrator, but like I said in most of the cases it is not a out of the box solution and must be tailor maid. We have some solutions like that for some off our clients, and here are some tools we provide:

  • Load transaction data from ECC to BPC 10.1 using US GAAP starter kit SP3

I need to understand a bit more the process to load transactional data into BPC 10.1. We have US GAAP Starter Kit SP 3. Below is an screenshot from the config guide:
It explains how transactional data can be extracted from ECC system to the SAP Netweaver BW data source 0FI_GL_10 and then transform it
to get it loaded into BPC. The Objects /PKG/FC_C01 and PKG/FC_DS01 are just mentioned here as reference because they come in the RDS for Financial Close and Disclosure Management, which not all companies have.
I believe the upwards data flow should be from Data Source 0FI_GL_10 to Data Store Object 0FIGL_O10 and then to InfoCube 0FIGL_R10. There is also a data flow that goes from 0FI_FL_10 to InfoCube 0FIGL_R10. Can anyone with experience with US GAAP starter kit answer this?
    Thank you.

Hello, we were able to load actuals to our environment with the US GAAP Starter Kit, SP03. I followed the Operating Guide document up to section 5.2 and ran the Consolidation Data Manager Package with no issue. We are using the A20 Input  and A20 Consolidation process flows based on flows F00, F10, F20, F30, F99,  etc... According to the documentation, the Statemnet of Cash Flow and Changes  in Equity should be automatically calculated and available from the changes
in Balance Sheet accounts once Consolidation is completed . However, when I  ran the corresponding reports, they bring no data.
We loaded actual  data for the whole 2013 and Jan 2014. Our intention is
to run the first  consolidation for Jan 2014. The closing balance for period 12.2013 in flow 99  was copied to flow 00 2014 (opening balance). Flows 20 and 30 were updated with the corresponding balance sheet movements (increase/decrease), according to the delivered controls in the starter kit. However, cash flow is still showing no results.
I found the following text in the operating guide,  but I am not clear if I am missing a step. Can you please clarify? This is  telling me that I need to copy my 01.2014 opening balance (F00) to 12.2013  closing balance (F99, which is done by the copy opening data manager package, but in the opposite direction, from Y-1 F00 to Y F99) and in addition to also copy that balance to 12.2013 F00 (previous year  opening balance)??
    "5.2.2 First Consolidation
When operating the  consolidation for a given Scope for the first time in the application, it is  necessary to populate and process the prior year-end time period for this Scope, in addition to the first required consolidation period. This is because the flows dedicated to the scope change analysis are properly populated by the consolidation engine provided that at least one automatic journal entry has been detected in the consolidation used as opening consolidation, which by default is the prior year end (December, Y-1). To accomplish this, it is recommended that you copy all input-level opening data of the first required consolidation (flow “F00”) into the closing data  (“F99”) and opening data (“F00”) of the prior year-end time period, including intercompany breakdowns.
This breakdown by intercompany in the balance  sheet triggers automatic eliminations, which are carried over to the closing position. After the consolidation process, the closing data of the prior year
end time period will contain the appropriate source data for the opening data of the following consolidation, notably the opening automatic journal entries.

  • Best approach for transition to IFRS from US GAAP

    Hi SAP Gurus,
I have gone through some of SAP presentations and also 2 EcoHub sessions on IFRS.
I understand the SAP's suggestion to use of Parallel ledger as best approach.
Can any one clear below my queries?
    1.  Assuming current SAP system is in ECC 6.0 with classical ledger and we are trying to migrate to SAP GL.  It is suggested to migrate to SAP GL first (lets say by 2010) and plan for adopting IFRS as one of parallel ledger (Non Leading) as a separate project (lets say from 2012).  For the years 2012 & 2013 we will have reporting both in US GAAP & IFRS. Till here it is clear. I am not sure how we can drop reporting in US GAAP from 2014 when it is set as leader ledger while migrating to SAP GL.
Is there a way to migrate the IFRS non leading ledger as Leading ledger by 2014 and deactivate 0L - US GAAP ledger from 2014?
    2. Although I understand the reporting in IFRS can happen prospectively from 2012 onwards, I am not sure how to build the open balances as of 2012. For E.g., how to get the current book values of Fixed Assets as per IFRS principles.
    3. Is it advisable to migrate to SAP GL with leading ledger as IFRS directly and marking one of non leading ledger for US GAAP reporting? And how to drop posting in US GAAP non leading ledger from 2014 onwards?
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Som
