AWM 10g - error message

I am having fun getting started with AWM.
I cannot login into an oracle 10g database with AWM 10g. I get this error message:
java.sql.SQLException: t2cCreateState
at oracle.olap.awm.connection.ConnectionManager.connect(ConnectionManager.java:116)
at oracle.olap.awm.connection.ConnectionDialogActionThread.doAction(ConnectionDialogActionThread.java:73)
at oracle.olap.awm.ui.dialog.ThreadedDialogActionThread.run(ThreadedDialogActionThread.java:49)
What does this mean?
Thanks,
Frank.

What are you writing in connection information? Try using full details like hostname:port:sid and then try.
Also ensure that the correct ORACLE_HOME is set in the PATH variable.

    Below is the 12 steps that I go through, please advise what I'm doing wrong : -
    1. (Operations) default is Create a database
    2. (Database templetes) default is general purpose
    3. (Database Identification) projemp.local for Global database name & projemp for SID
    4. (Management options) default is "Configure the database with Enterprise manager, also the options button has been clicked for "Use database control for database management"
    5. (Database Credentials) the options button has been clicked for "Use the same password for all accounts" so I've set up a new password, was that correct?
    6. (Storage options) the options button is clicked for "File System - use the file system for database storage.
    7. (Database file locations) the options button is clicked for "Use database file locations for template" Is this option correct? Other options are Use common location for all database files or use Oracle-managed files?
    8. (Recovery configuration) the options button is clicked for "Specify flash recovery area
    9. (Database content) nothing has been selected, the only option is "Sample schemas" should that be clicked?
    10. (Initialization parameters) the options button is clicked for "Typical- allocate memory as a % of the total physical memory
    11. (Database storage) no options available
    12. (Creation options) the options button has been selected for "Create Database"
    Click finish

    I've removed the software from my computer using control panel, programs & features then uninstall once but the other five times the software hasn't been listed. Whilst the Oracle was on my task bar I was able to install using Start > Programs > Oracle - HOME-NAME > Database Administration > Database Configuration Assistant.No you didn't. Database Configuration Assistant does not remove software. It can remove a database. As I mentioned before, there is a difference between the software and the objects that software manages. Deleting an Excel spreadsheet is not the same as deleting Microsoft Office. Deleting an Oracle database with Database configuration assistant is not the same as removing the Oracle software.

    Now that oracle is not on my task bar I've unzipped the link below, clicked on db, Disk1, setup, changed the Database password (is that correct?) install and I get the following error message "Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed<<<<<
    Problem: The install has detected that the primary IP address of the system is DHCP-assigned.
    Recommendation: Oracle supports installations on systems with DHCP-assigned IP addresses;
    However, before you can do this, you must configure the Microsoft LoopBack Adaptor to be the primary network adapter on the system. See the installation Guide for more details on installing the software on systems configured with DHCP."
    So what did you do with the above error message? Did you follow up on what it said? Did you read the very fine Installation Guide that comes with the software? Did you read the section on networking considerations where it discussed DHCP assigned addresses and installing the loopback adapter?
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/index.html
    Ok, that link takes us to the download page, which does not shed any light at all on your problems
    I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 bit operating system, and my computer is saying I have 142 GB free space.
    If you read the installation manual that came with the downloaded software, you'd have seen in the prerequisites that Home editions of Windows are NOT listed as supported platforms, whereas Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions specifically ARE listed as supportd.
    Hope this is some help.And
    I'm not to clever on computers so would you be able to advise how I get to the command window to issue the SET command please?
    Also I've no idea what OS user I am, I'm taking an on-line Oracle course and been advised to install "Oracle Database software for version 10g Release 2 Standard Edition, Standard Edition One, and Enterprise Edition"
    How do I find out if I'm part of an Administrator, ORA_DBA group ?
    Can you walk me through how to create the directory from command line please?Ok, given the above statements from you, I'm not even sure where to begin. I don't want to be cruel, but this self-admitted lack of even the most rudimentary knowledge by someone attempting to learn about Oracle is truly astounding. What course are you taking? Why are you taking this course?

  • Suppress error message in 10g

    using
    :system.message_level:=25;
    commit;
    :system.message_level:=0;
    i can suppress error message in froms 9i but when i run that form in iAS10g
    the message "no changes to save" does not suppress.

    It's not a good idea to suppress error messages. If there is a problem, then you (or user) won't know.
    If you are using the system.message_level only to try and suppress, the "no changes to save" message, then a better way is to check if there are changes before doing the commit. Like this:
    IF :System.Form_Status = 'CHANGED' THEN
    Commit_Form;
    END IF;

  • Disk utility error message

    My daughter told me her Mac mini isn't booting up past the grey screen. I put in the install disk and started it up pressing "C" and used Disk Utility to attempt to figure out what's up. I got the following error message:
    Could not repair due to underlying task failure on exit (-9972)
    Does this mean the hard drive is toast? I don't have any HD repair software-with all my Macs I've never run across a problem that the boards here or Disk Utility couldn't fix for me. I don't know if she damaged the drive (she claims the cat chewed on the edge of the mini-sounds a bit like the "dog ate the homework"), or if it failed. It was purchased last year when Tiger was released, so it should still be under warranty. Any ideas about what I could try next?
    Thanks

    Dale, although the -9972 error is probably some serious data error on the drive, which can sometimes be solved by an Erase & Install of Mac OS X, the fact that the Hardware Test reports an issue probably means that the data error was caused by physical damage on the drive.
    I have to say that I find your post(s) most unhelpful. It' true that the informatin contained in them can be useful, however, you could have made the effort to sort it for iMargB. The fact that you didn't, plus your posting of the exact same post in two different threads, makes me feel that you are in a hurry, and that you sacrifice quality to quantity. Trying to help as many people as possible is a good thing, however, we are here to help (or to be helped), not to overwhelm people with information, hoping that they will figure it all out on their own.
    iMargB, the Hardware Test is not part of Mac OS X, it is a system-specific volume, which explains why it is included on your original disc rather than on the Tiger one. Your guess of using the latest OS's Install disc was a good one though, when it comes to using Disk Utility for example : attempting to repair a Tiger installation with a Panther disc is not a good idea, as it might damage it instead, because of the differences between Panther and Tiger.
    Although I know little about the Hardware Test's error messages, the "Master" part is not what would worry me, as it could just be the position of your hard drive's jumper (which could be Master, Slave, or Cable Select). However, if the Mass Storage test is failing, I would suspect a hardware issue with the drive itself. Hardware Test is known to miss a few things sometimes, but the reverse isn't true. Thus if it reports a bad drive, I think it is safer to assume that there is an issue than to assume that Hardware Test is wrong. Moreover, the "Invalid Node Structure" is very likely due to physical damage (as I already said), therefore, zeroing out all data and reisntalling Mac OS X or using Disk Warrior could be very temporary fixes.
    If you have a FireWire cable, I would suggest booting your Mini in FireWire Target Disk Mode to retrieve as much data as you can, with another Mac such as your iMac or iBook. Instructions can be found here. There may still be a chance that the other Mac could see the drive, so not all your data would be lost. Then, I would take it to Apple for repair, as the drive could be failing.

    Dear All
    I use Oracle Jdeveloper10g (win32), Oracle database10g or 9i (win32 ver). But Failure to connect to OLAP service.
    Can anyone give me what is the error message for BIB-16633.
    Would be really grateful if you could give me a solution as soon as possible.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Mr.Tsang. Hong Kong

    For database versions you need to have at least 9206 for 9i and 10.1.0.4 for 10g. This requires you to apply the 9206 patchset to 9i and the 10.1.0.4 patchset to the 10g base install.
    Please note there are a lot of steps invloved in the patching process and you must make sure you have completed all the steps before creating your OLAP schema. Most problems occur because the patching process is incomplete and the OLAP option is in an invalid state.
    You can check the state of the OLAP option using the following commands in SQLPlus:
    column comp_name format a35
    SELECT comp_name, status, substr(version,1,10) as version
    from dba_server_registry order by modified;
    Once the OLAP option is in a valid state, then you must ensure the OLAPSYS account is unlocked. To test the OLAP environment you can install the BI10G sample schema which will create a new user account called CS_OLAP which contains an Analytic Workspace.
    Hope this helps

  • How to show a error message to user from report.

    I don´t wanna to go in a form builder to create a simple form for just two inputs.
    I have put two inputs into reports parameter screen, but I know that reports is not like forms, I cannot use SET_ITEM_PROPERTY to hide an element or put a runtime message to a label.
    How can I show an error message when I validate an input from user, when some input trigger raise?
    Thanks a lot!

    The SRW.message doesn't show me no alert on report 10g !!!
    is there any restriction that can be made to block the displaying of the alert on the web environnement?
    thanks..

    My database version is: 10.2.0.4.0
    I'm grateful that SQL Developer peacefully coexists with earlier versions.
    Anything I can do?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    I cannot seem to find a bug or forum reference for this issue at the moment, but I recall there was some problem on 10g connections where SQL Developer thinks you have DBA view privileges even when you don't. So, on 11g, a user with very basic privileges can do a Find DB Object without seeing the error you got on 10.2.0.4. On 10.2.0.x you should be able to workaround the problem if you can arrange to get grant select_catalog_role for that userid.

  • Error message when importing?? help!!!!

    the past three times i've imported pictures to my iphoto i get this error message:
    "The following images could not be imported - they may be an unrecognized file type or the file may not contain vaild data
    /private/var/tmp/folders.501/TemporaryItems/iPhoto/MG0248.CR2
    /private/var/tmp/folders.501/TemporaryItems/iPhoto/MG0250.CR2
    does that mean my card is bad?
    last time when i plugged my card in again it found the files that it didnt import last time but i can't always get them...???
    strange??
    I read on another board where I asked this question that someone told me my card was bad... I bought a new card and last night (the FIRST time I've used it) at the end of my importing it gave me that message again on the last 2 images.... does that mean my brand new card is bad too??? I formated the new card as soon as i put it in my camera too..
    my other thought was that my hard disk was almost full -- maybe it was to do with that?? (i had 4000 images on here, i removed 1000 this morning.. and will be doing the rest later...)
    what would that error have to do with??? my sandisk card reader? my iphoto or computer? or the card itself?
    anyone have any ideas??
    thanks...

    If your HD free space gets down around 1G you will start having slowdowns and other problems. You'll get a system warning at about 500MB. It's strongly recommended you maintain a minimum of 10G free space. More if you can do so. The system and applications require adequate free space for cache abd VM swap files.
    To regain some real estate on your HD you and use Monolingual to remove the unneeded language modules. On my new MBP I recovered 2.4G of space the first time I ran it.
    When you post it would be very helpful if you'd include information on your setup like model, system version, application version, HD size and free space, RAM, etc. That will allow us to better assess your issues right off the bat.
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
