Photoshop Scripting - Saving doc as GIF, poor quality produced.

opts.colorReduction = ColorReductionType.SELECTIVE;
opts.dither = Dither.NONE;
opts.quality = 100;
opts.interlaced = true;
opts.includeProfile = true;
opts.matteColor = new RGBColor();
opts.matteColor.red = 255;
opts.matteColor.green = 255;
opts.matteColor.blue = 255;
opts.format = SaveDocumentType.COMPUSERVEGIF;
activeDocument.exportDocument(mainPath, ExportType.SAVEFORWEB, opts)
Any idea how to make the quality better?
I mean when I export the image through SaveforWeb the quality is fine, but if i run it through the script the quality is poor.
I need the output file in GIF, so other filetypes are not a good solution. Also, I need to save the document without opening the save as dialog, hence the export document.
Thanks

I've tried with both Dither and without Dither.
Below is a screenshot of the normal process > Save for Web (no script)
The quality is good, well decent.

    To be perfectly clear, you CAN use the Extra Plug-ins Folder specification to point to a separate folder you've created where you have put ONLY your 3rd party plug-ins.  It can be a neat way to help organize plug-ins, especially if you don't prefer to copy things into your Photoshop installation area.
    Just don't point it anywhere in the installation area for another version of Photoshop.
    The basic problem is that many folks, in trying to save time, choose to point their Extra Plug-ins Folder setting to the plug-ins subfolder inside their old Photoshop installation area, thinking that will just make them all available to the new version.  The key thing is that the old versions of Photoshop ALSO had put their own Adobe-supplied plug-ins there.  The conflict arises when the new version of Photoshop starts and tries to enumerate the plug-ins, including those found in the Extra Plug-ins Folder, it finds overlap between its own plug-ins and the old ones it finds there.

  • Saving a Project In Pages, Images Poor Quality in PDF

    I have just purchased IWork 09, i am new to pages and so far find the software very handy and easy to use to make very attractive documents.
    i have one dilemma though.
    i save a (e.g.) poster in pages, but when i go to open it in PDF Preview, the images that i have inputted into the document are distorted or of a poor quality, when i open them in pages they are fine?.... also when i go 2 open the saved document in Adobe Reader 9, it wont open? i tried taking frames and shadows etc out just in case they are not supported, like in MS Word but still no luck. i have to send flyers for advertizment via e-mail to clients who are more than likely using Windows Xp or Vista.
    if some one could help with
    1. Getting my images to stay good quality
    2. opening it in adobe 9
    it would be very much appreciated

    You can not see which programs have been involved in each compression, but as far as I know, at least some programs store information about both themselves (last edited by) and the compression level in the exif/iptc data.
    The right way to work is to get as much data as possible off the colour capture in high bit and do the exposure correction getting into a normalised colour space either still in high bit or in scaled down 8 bit to save space.
    The pixels should be left alone from this phase and out. It is not necessary to change a single source pixel either in matching to the display, the printer or the press. All of this is done on the fly in memory and not be changing the pixels in the disk-based image document.
    As interchange file format for corrected colour captures stored in the normalised colour space, either use a linearised RGB space or high-bit CIELab. The file format should be lossless TIFF and not lossy JPEG (the way JPEG works internally is lossy by definition).
    Live Picture and Apple Aperture are alike in the way they work. Rather than taking the pixels into memory for correction, which is they way Photoshop worked, they construct a colour managed proxy for manipulation and then provide for a rendering that is non-destructive.
    Live Picture required ColorSync 2 and Apple Aperture is unable to work without colour management for the same set of reasons. Apple Pages is unable to work without colour management for the same set of reasons, although there are additional reasons for Apple Pages.
    Just my ten cents,

  • Poor quality issue on saving Adobe Illustrator artboard as PDF

    Hi,
    A couple of days ago I successfully saved an artboard from an Illustrator file as a PDF, and the quality was fine.  You can see the result here:
    http://www.soterianetwork.org.uk/images/derby-conference-flyer-front.pdf
    Now I am trying once again to save as PDF (I have tried all of the presets) and the quality is poor and file size is less.  You can see the latest PDF of poor quality here:
    http://www.soterianetwork.org.uk/images/derby-conference-flyer.pdf
    The most noticeable difference is in the quality of the text in the logo at the top.
    I'd be grateful for any advice in sorting out this issue.
    Thanks
    Nick

    The 1st file is a bitmap image. The 2nd file was saved with "Illustrator Compatibility" and remains fully editable in AI. You are using scribble effect, which is very memory intensive.Try turning off "Illustrator Compatibility". Also, try "Expanding" the scribble effect.

  • Flash is a poor quality software

    Guys, after just short time (luckily) that I had to work with flash, during which time flash show what its capable of (not a positive thing), my thoughts on it.
    Flash is extremely poor quality software. Incidents working with flash involved
    1. thumb doesn't show up on slider when I click button once, but shows up when I click this same button twice. (code: thumb.visible=true), that all there was to it!!!
    2. movie clips moved out of scene are showing on scene anyway
    3. Simply copying the aforementioned slider and placing it on first frame on main scene brakes totally unrelated code somewhere else. But pasting the same slider on second frame doesn't brake that code anymore! Needless to say that slider has no code whatsoever so it couldn't possibly reference anything in my scene anyway!
    What else? Yesterday I was happily working till lunch. Saved my work, went, had a lunch, came back, try to open my file, nope, not so fast flash tells me that this is incorrect format of a file!!! I couldn't believe what I'm seeing. I've never during my 15 years of working as a programmer came across software which couldn't open file saved by itself. Apparently, this is very common problem with flash: Re: I cannot open FLA files in CS5 "UNEXPECTED FILE FORMAT" help!
    Luckily I've had save this file the day before so I've lost only half a day's work.
    Another phenomena, during debugging flash goes through lines of code and at last line throws error that child mustn't be null, which is really bizarre because on previous lines I've had that child object and flash didn't complain at all:
    child = new Item();//goes through this line
    child.setUp("myChild");//goes through this line
    addChild(child);//throws ERROR that child mustn't be null.
    Another incident, two buttons identical class, all is different is text on them, one says play, the other one says settings. First button do not respond to mouse events, specifically to mouse_over event, second button behaves correctly. Situation got resolved that I've added another, dummy button and moved it out of stage. Now both original buttons behave correctly!!! How is this possible???
    Another incident from before yestarday. Same slider. First frame, two copies of it. First one (top one) after publishing looks as it looks in editor, second looks completely different! parts are scaled up, far away from each other, total mess!!!WHY??? I simply put one slider from library and copied it once. Same frame, same slider, no code involved whatsoever and despite this flash messes things up.
    Another incident with slider. The same slider copied from one frame to other. One works perfectly on one frame (that is you can drag the thumb and the thumb follows your mouse), paste EXACT!!! copy of this slider on different frame and the slider becomes unresponsive!!! Un effing bellievable!!!!
    Oh, and one more thing, can this software and swfs produced by it be any slower and use more processor power?
    There were also plenty of others smaller annoyances how flash behaves, or why doesn't behave correctly. I'm so glad that will not have to work with this software anymore. It is so bad. And it is Flash CC. Unbelievable.
    So I suppose, my question is, why is flash so poor quality software, despite the fact that is on the market for so many years?

    Are you serious?
    Are you genuinely serious?
    Are you really...
    How can anyone think that this, out of box should compile? How?!?
    The child isn't declared, Item class isn't defined, how can you think that this could/should compile? How?!!!
    As I've said in one of my previous posts, this is simply snippet of my code with those problematic lines. And why I have problem with this is, again, as I've said previously flash does go through two lines with child variable, but throws error (during debugging) at the third line that child variable mustn't be null!!! while just before second didn't have any problems with referencing this variable, just one line previously.
    And no Amy, you are wrong saying that I've nulled this variable somewhere.
    If you look at the code (from one of my other posts):
    //[begin of example]
    //some function's body
         child = new Head_mc(); //Head_mc is a movie clip
      trace("child: " + child);//outputs some name of this child
      child.setUp(aHead);//goes through this line fine while debugging
      addChild(child);//GIVES ME ERROR TELLING ME THAT THAT child MUSTN'T BE SET TO NULL!!!!!!
    if I change this code to:
    //some function's body
        var c:MovieClip = new Head_mc(); //Head_mc is a movie clip
      c.setUp(aHead);//goes through this line fine while debugging
    child = c;
      addChild(child);//No problems, but why is it that this works and the first code doesn't work?
    //[end of example]
    you will see that the only function which could possibly nullify child variable is function setUp, yet this function is called in second example as well as in first and yet first example behaves incorrectly and second example works as expected. Why? What's different there?
    Oh, and @sinious, please mate, give me a favor and don't try to compile it, because it is impossible to compile. But also please note that I mention that the debugger goes through some lines so it must mean that at some point I did compile it first and then started debugging. It does make sense, doesn't it?
    As for working with complicated software/languages?
    Guys, please don't make me laugh.
    Maya, Catia, AutoCAD, 3DMax, Visual Studio, Blender, Photoshop, ZBrush, UDK, UE4, - (except Catia I work on weekly basis, every week of the year (except holidays and weekends that is) with each and everyone of those products), and of course as a language of choice I use C++. How do you think C++ compares with regarding difficulty, complexity, learning curve to as3 do you think?
    Flash (and as3) is a relatively simple but buggy, poor quality and unreliable software. I can say that not because I cannot learn it. I can say that because I've worked with it and experienced it's poor quality and "bugyness" from day one. I also worked with other software in my life, I also do work every day of my life with other software (the above mentioned), and flash simply proves to be of poor quality.
    None of the software I've mentioned couldn't open file it just wrote couple of minutes ago. With flash it happened. Not once now, but two times. And not just to me. Plenty of examples on the web. Guys, please, open your eyes. It didn't happen because I'm a bad/incompetent programmer. It happened because flash is a buggy, poor quality and unreliable software. And companies are ditching flash not because I say it is bad. They ditching it because through their own experience they realized that flash is a buggy, poor quality, poorly performing, unreliable software. That's all there is to it.
    And as for self-congratulatory behavior of yours:
    "Plenty of evidence is here to the contrary so, mission complete"
    What mission did you achieve?
    The one in which you proved to everyone that you don't understand that you cannot compile code snippet which is taken out of context?
    What kind of programmer you are, it just makes me wonder...

  • Photoshop wont open PNG or GIF files

    i have recently encounter a problems that when i tried to opened the PNG or GIF files that i save earlier, photoshop CS3 just wont open it. It keeps giving me a messages saying "Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file". I even reinstall the photoshop, but still receiving the same problem. If there any way i could fix it?
    Thanks,

    I just figured out my problem with this as I was gettig the same error message. Not sure if the following information will help with other's problems or not - I am using Photoshop CS3.
    First, I made sure my plug ins for png were updated. You can find the instructions for manually updating this direct from adobe site..... http://www.adobe.com/uk/support/security/bulletins/apsb07-13.html
    Though my plug in for png was not updated, I realized that my mistake was rather simple. I was creating png's in photoshop by saving as, and just typing in .png after the filename instead of choosing .png from the file extension drop down. I wasn't choosng png from drop down extension list because it wasn't appearing as an option, I thought this was weird but I just typed it in myself. It seemed to save just fine, however upon trying to reopen the png file, I was getting the same error message in phtooshop as Kelly.
    The solution - Photoshop does not give you the option to save a file as .png if it is in CMYK image mode. It must be in RGB, which makes sense since .png is a file format created mainly for web viewing. Once you change your image to RGB (menu option: Image/Mode/select RGB), the .png file extension will appear in the drop down and you should not get an error message when opening the file.
    If you were not the creator of the .png file, then you may need to contact whomever saved this file and let them know they need to resave it as mentioned above.
    hope this helps!

  • Poor quality text in PDF

    I am using Acrobat pro X to produce an online brochure. I started producing the brochure in Corel draw using A4 paper size in landscape mode. When I created the PDF by the print command the general quality was very poor, both graphics and text. I experimented with various settings increasing the quality settings for images but it didn't seem to have any significant effect. I then tried placing some of the elements in a Word document and creating a PDF from this document, and again I found that the results were unsatisfactory, a bit better than from Corel but not very good. I have converted many Word documents to PDF in the past without problems. I started a new Word document and this time copied a template for a landscape brochure from Microsoft. This was already populated with some Text-and-Graphics. When I created a PDF from this it was quite good. It was not clear to me what the difference between my basic word document and this new one was. I went through the documents’ settings with a fine tooth comb and the only one I could find was different was the paper size and orientation. I then copied some of my graphics and text to the word brochure document, and this to converted nicely to PDF. I took a note of what appeared to be a somewhat unusual paper size and copied this to the Corel document. When I created a PDF it was now significantly better all the paper size was wrong. I went back from scratch with both the word document and the Corel draw document (those which produce bad PDF files) and carefully made sure that the paper size and orientation in the document matched the PDF settings. But the result was still poor in this case. It is not clear to me what is causing the problem although it does seem to be mainly text, the graphics are often okay. The text however is extremely patchy looking and very poor quality.
    In the Acrobat settings I started with "high quality print" default setting and edited this. When I selected the fonts section there were no fonts selected for embedding. This surprised me as I would have thought high-quality print would automatically embedded all fonts. I selected the fonts in my document and embedded them and saved the settings, but when I went out of this dialogue box and straight back in it showed up with no embedded fonts. What's happening here? Is it for getting about my font selection? Or does this dialogue box when you re-enter it not reflect the current settings? Furthermore when I completed my modifications to the "high-quality print" default settings it asked me to save them as a new job options file which I did, but when I go to print a second time it never gives me the option of selecting these saved settings.
    I have tried almost every permutation and combination of settings page sizes et cetera and I now tearing my hair out trying to figure out how to simply get a reasonable quality PDF file. Any assistance on these matters would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Michael
    I am using Corel V 13 and Windows 7. The issue is not confined to Corel as I am also getting poor results often with Word as described. I also need to know about the font embedding as described above. Is it the case that if the fonts are  embedded this
    guarantees they fonts display sharply in the PDF? i.e. do the scatty fonts in the PDF prove I am not getting embedded fonts?
    Corel does have a printer driver compatibility setting where you can set the target printer, but the PDF virtual printer is not available in the list.
    Thanks

  • Poor quality image with doing videos with photos/images HELP!

    Hello,
    I bought Adobe Premiere Element to make videos with pictures. When I do the video, the quality of my photos is good. When I save the video on my computer or I download it on youtube (example) the quality of my photos is extremely poor. Why? Does anyone can help me? Thank you!

    What Project Preset did you choose at New Project? In the case of Video, composed of Still Images ONLY, you would set that to your desired delivery specs. Not so, if you are also using Video.  I tried several types of parameters. Some parameters give poor quality when I upload it to Youtube (for example) and others in the design of video and upload to YouTube. So which settings should I use for photos only ?
    This sounds like you are talking about the Export/Share settings for output to YouTube.
    What I was asking is what did you start off with, when you were at New Project?
    If you are doing an SD Project, you will have either 720 x 480 (NTSC), or 720 x 576 (PAL) pixels in the Project's Frame Size. If that is what you want, then I would Scale your camera original Stills to 640 x 480 (for NTSC), as you have Square Pixels, and the Project will have either 0.9 for NTSC Standard, or 1.21 for NTSC Widescreen).
    PrE can Scale the Still Images, but the Scaling algorithms in Photoshop are much better, and offer more control.
    Now, if you wish to do an HD Project, just choose that as your Preset, and then use the Images in about their original size. Note, there will be some black borders, as the screen-caps most likely have a different Aspect Ratio, than a Video Project, which for HD will be 16:9. Especially with screen-caps, that are pretty low resolution to begin with, I would NOT do any Scaling, and would live with the letterboxing, or pillar boxing, rather than Scale and effectively Crop.
    Also, when Scaling in Photoshop, I do not Save_As JPEG, as it introduces compression, but only as either PSD (Photoshop's native format), or PNG.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Poor quality still frames

    Does anyone know why still frames are such poor quality?
    I'm constructing a movie using stills, and if a Ken Burns effect is used, the picture changing to the next photo as soon as the effect finishes can be a little jarring on the eye.
    To counteract this, I've been adding a still frame of 1-2 seconds either side of the main Ken Burns adjusted photo to act as a 'cushion' (like you can in Photo to Movie). You can see the difference in quaity in iMovie, so it does of course remain when you have exported to Quicktime.
    Is there a better method of doing this than still frames? I notice that the overlap transition helps by hanging on to the end of the previous frame, but it's not ideal.
    Any suggestions?

  • Why poor quality AIC & Apple ProRes HQ video when compared to original video files!

    First, I'm a long time PC user who has recently switched to Mac's and I'm rather picky about the quality of my videos.
    Problem: I have HD video from a Canon HF S10 camcorder and Canon EOS 7D that looks fantastic on a PC... but looks very so-so once imported into a iMovie or FCE or FCP. I've tried all three programs using AIC and yes I've even tried Apple Pro Res HQ (FCP 7.0 log & transfer) and still end up with very poor quality mov files when compared to the originals. Part of the problem (or benefit of a PC) is that the PC actually plays the original RAW MTS/M2TS/MOV files without any trouble and and they look unbelievable. Where as my Mac has to import/convert the file to AIC or Apple Pro Res HQ... so no matter what codec I use, my Mac produces video that is not even close to what I get out of my PC.
    My original RAW files are all 1920x1080 60i and are MTS files from the HF S10 and Mov files from the 7D. Even the original RAW Mov files produced from the 7D don't look as good on my Mac as they do on my PC. I even took a SD card with the original files down to the local Apple store to see how they look on a Macbook Pro and they still don't look like the originals on my PC. Also, all my comparisons are being done side by side on two 24" Apple cinema displays at full size (1920x1080) that are calibrated. What am I doing wrong and why the loss in quality? Any ideas as to why the quality is just so-so when compared to the originals would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    The thing that is wrong is that you are judging the quality of VIDEO on COMPUTER monitors. Properly calibrated or no...this is not how you do it. Calibration for computer monitors sets them right for PHOTOSHOP and color, not VIDEO and proper monitoring. Only getting a signal to a broadcast VIDEO monitor, or HDTV, will show you what you really have. And for that you need an HD input/output device or capture card...and the HDTV or HD monitor.
    Computer monitors are never the place to judge video quality. Resolution is typically lowered to allow for full frame playback. Even if paused.

  • 'ken burns' poor quality interlacing jagged

    This post is to document issues with 'Ken Burns' rendering in Final Cut Express 4 and some workarounds and possible bugs in software I found.
    Similar posts about this issue:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/5207261#5207261
    When I import images into final cut express and  apply keyfram effects with panning and zooming a.ka. the 'Ken Burns Effect' I find that image quality is very poor. This occurs in most BUT NOT ALL images in viewer and canvas windows as well as rendered footage.  The video issues are severe interlacing artifacts (horizontal blurry lines) as well as motion jitter along edges.
    Many other users on the web suggested the following, which did not work for me:
    -Avoid using JPEG files because their compression introduces artifacts which causes problems for Final Cut
    I have found both JPEG and TIFFs have trouble with Ken Burns, although I do have certain TIFFs that seem to work.
    -Using different software to render ken burns panning.
    This seems silly to me.  I find that the integration of  pan,zoom necessary for fine tuning during editing.  This would be extremely time consuming to separately generate each pan/zoom clip and import. I have heard that some software has high-end smoothing, but I am satisfied with the images that do pan and zoom correctly in Final cut.
    -Adjusting Field Dominance in the clip properties to none
    this was already set on my clips
    -Adjust render settings.
    I saw a 1001 rendering 'recipes' offered up to fix image pan/zoom issues. None worked
    Things I discovered
    Ken burns effect looked great when the image was in a transition, but bad when it was not.  For example: Imagine a 5 second cross dissolve between regular video and ken burns motion image.  When image becomes clearly visible in the latter 2.5 seconds of the transition it looks excellent while panning/zooming. When the transition finishes there is a sudden change to poor quality in the pan/zoom.
    -The render bar on top of the timeline is dark-green for good-looking images, which according to the final cut manual, means 'no render necessary'
    -There was nothing special about these render-not-necessary images that I could find in resolution, settings, etc.
    -Good looking images were jpegs, gifs, and tiffs
    I tried converting other images and reimporting, no luck
    -I can make the ken burns look good for all images by playing the movie in the canvas window and setting it 99% zoom.
    Any zoom level other than 100% looks good.
    -This seems like a bug to me.
    Eventually I just used a screen recording application called screenflow to capture my video playing in canvas window at 99% in real time.
    This worked.
    Hopefully someone can explain why rendered images never look good and what format works to get the dark green line and avoid rendering all together and these problems.
    I don't mind converting file formats beforehand as long as they work well

    The render bar on top of the timeline is dark-green for good-looking images, which according to the final cut manual, means 'no render necessary'
    This is misleading. It simply means rendering is not necessary for playback. It does NOT mean that the material does not need to be rendered.
    100% zoom level is as close to how your video actually looks that a computer monitor can display.
    You never said what format you're working in.
    You always have to render still images. You're making video, and they're not video.

  • Photoshop scripting calls from Adobe Configurator panels

    Can javascritpt functions executing from an HTML element inside a panel affect the photoshop scene?  I know it can using the scripting toolkit, but I'm trying to do this in the Adobe Configurator.  In Configurator I created a new panel with an HTML panel and a button inside it that executes a javascript function on click "createDocument".  When I bring this into photoshop, I can load the panel and click on the button, but I never get a new document created.  If I uncomment the "alert" line, reexport the plugin, and click on the button, I get the alert, but still don't get a new document.
    var createDocument = function() {
        app.documents.add(2,4);
        //alert("creating new doc!");
    I've tried other functions like creating layers, but still don't see anything happening in photoshop affecting the UI.  It's even more frustrating that I don't see any kind of error message that is happening.  My conclusions seem to imply this panel can't call the photoshop files for some reason (running in a different VM, wrong namespace, etc.).  Has anyone been able to make photoshop scripting calls from inside a configurator panel?

    You might have better luck asking the in the Configurator forum. http://forums.adobe.com/community/labs/configurator/

    Can you NOT just move the compoundPathItem's pathItems to another location before/after? Kind of like this…
    #target illustrator
    var docRef = app.activeDocument;
    with(docRef) {
         with(compoundPathItems[0]) {
              var x = pathItems.length;
              for (var i = x-1; i >= 0; i--) {
                   pathItems[i].move(compoundPathItems[0], ElementPlacement.PLACEBEFORE);

  • Photoshop scripting question

    HI
    I am new to this whole scripting for photoshop and hope someone could help me along.
    What i am looking for is to either create an Adobe Photoshop script, or with flash builder build an photoshop extension that does the following.
    On a server i have a folder that gets a folder for each day of the month (eg. ../december 2012/01 december). in this folder each day there are .PSD files created. I would love to have a scipt that opens the .PSD files that are in the todays folder then resizes the image from 1024*576 to 720*576 and save it on a diferend server in the todays folder as a .JPG. and then have a popup message showing which images where succesfully saved to the new location.
    Right now i am using a simple .exe file with the following script to kopie teh files from location A to B but i have to manualy make the jpegs or run the image procesor for this job which doesn't work with sharing an action with multiple users.
    The copie script is Use:
    @ECHO OFF
    CLS
    SET sourceDir=\\172.16.200.9\vormgeving\TV\!BrabNieuws 2007\dve
    SET destDir=\\172.16.200.155\dve\BRABANT NIEUWS
    SET jaar=%date:~-4,4%
    SET mnd=%date:~-7,2%
    SET dag=%date:~-10,2%
    SET pse==%1
    IF %mnd%==01 SET maand=Januari
    IF %mnd%==02 SET maand=Februari
    IF %mnd%==03 SET maand=Maart
    IF %mnd%==04 SET maand=April
    IF %mnd%==05 SET maand=Mei
    IF %mnd%==06 SET maand=Juni
    IF %mnd%==07 SET maand=Juli
    IF %mnd%==08 SET maand=Augustus
    IF %mnd%==09 SET maand=September
    IF %mnd%==10 SET maand=Oktober
    IF %mnd%==11 SET maand=November
    IF %mnd%==12 SET maand=December
    ECHO De DVE's van vandaag worden naar de dagmap (%jaar%-%mnd%-%dag%) gekopieerd!
    ECHO .
    COPY "%sourceDir%\%maand% %jaar%\%dag% %maand%\*.psd" "%destDir%\%jaar%-%mnd%-%dag%"
    ECHO Y | DEL "%destDir%\%jaar%-%mnd%-%dag%\dve standaard.psd" > NUL
    if "%1"=="" PAUSE
    I hope there is someone out there that can help me on my way.
    Thanks
    Salvador
    Ps. I already tried working with actions and a simple script that envoked the action file but thats just not stable enough.

    I still do not understand you showed part of a dos bat file that copies a single psd file from one remote ip  resource to a different remote ip remote resource before the copy some non english message is displayed. the copy is done which should put out a message one file copied then the original file is deleted off the first remots resource hidding the delet message.  I see nothing to do with Photoshop nothing that dose any resize and don't understand why you would slow down the copy by transporting the data across the network twice once woul be faster. I would set up a remote process where remote resource 1 would do the copy to remote resource 2.  At first I tought you were describing a server batch update process the would run on some schedule. Now it looks like distrinuted remote users are moving a file from one machine to an other.  Where does the resize come in where does Photoshop Scripting come in?

    Hi JJMack,
    Right now the resizing is done maunually. This is the work procces; there are a bunch of .psd files created these get saved in ..\\ntsrob22s\vormgeving\TV\!BrabNieuws 2007\dve\february 2012\07 february\.
    After these files get aproved they get maunualy distorted from 1024*576 to 720*576 and saved as a JPEG in ..\\ntsrob22s\vormgeving\TV\!BrabNieuws 2007\dve\february 2012\07 february\JPEG\. After the person is done they execute this file
    @ECHO OFF
    CLS
    SET sourceDir=\\ntsrob22s\vormgeving\TV\!BrabNieuws 2007\dve
    SET destDir=\\media-storsvr\dve\BRABANT NIEUWS

    IF %mnd%==04 SET maand=April
    IF %mnd%==05 SET maand=Mei
    IF %mnd%==06 SET maand=Juni
    IF %mnd%==07 SET maand=Juli
    IF %mnd%==08 SET maand=Augustus
    IF %mnd%==09 SET maand=September
    IF %mnd%==10 SET maand=Oktober
    IF %mnd%==11 SET maand=November
    IF %mnd%==12 SET maand=December
    ECHO The PICs are copied to the BRABANTNIEUWS day folder and are ready to be used by pixelpower (%jaar%-%mnd%-%dag%) gekopieerd!
    ECHO .
    COPY "%sourceDir%\%maand% %jaar%\%dag% %maand%\JPEG\*.jpg" "%destDir%\%jaar%-%mnd%-%dag%"
    ECHO Y | DEL "%destDir%\%jaar%-%mnd%-%dag%\dve standaard.JPG" > NUL
    if "%1"=="" PAUSE
    This looks in the folder ..\\ntsrob22s\vormgeving\TV\!BrabNieuws 2007\dve for the folder of 'today' and copies all the JPEGs to ..\\media-storsvr\dve\BRABANT NIEUWS\ into todays folder.
    What i would like to create is that after they have created all the PSD files and they are aproved, all they have to to is run a Photoshop script or extension that opens all the PSD's that are in the 'today' folder -> then resizes those to 720*576 and save them in the \\media-storsvr\dve\BRABANT NIEUWS\"todays month"\"todays date" and overwrites if there is one with a simular name already.
    Thx,
    Salvador
