Back button in word 2010

One of the best feature in word 2010 is the "Browse headings" tree that appears on the left side when you search (Ctrl+F) you document.
It will be really great if there is a "back" or "Previous location" or "navigate backward" functionality that can be added so that user can have better experience. (keyboard shortcut if available)

thanks for your replays.
Again, your suggestion is similar to the previous one which is using "Previous heading" button.... these arrows allow you to go through the headings "sequantially" but I dont want that. I want to navigate through them according to my last location in
a "stack order" based.
let me explain it in an example with more details:
Suppose I have the following headings
1, 1.1, 1.2, 2, 2.1, 2.2, 3, 3.1, 3.2
Suppose my current location was  at 2.1, then i selected (using the mouse pointer) 1.1 then i selected 3.1; What i want to have is the facility of going through the reverse sequence of headings using one button; in other words; I want to click
on this "magical button" to go to 1.1 and if click it again i will go to 2.1.
if I go with your suggestion I will go to 3 then 2.2 then 2.1 then 2 then 1.1 then 1 which is the normal sequence...
I wish it is clear now

  • Why does my back button erase words?

    Why does my back button erease when I use it? It will erase the whole sentence. Thank you

    The longer you hold it the more it erases. If you tap it it should just erase individual letters. Tap and hold it and it will start deleting letters, then words then sentences depending on how long you hold it.

  • Images Sent to Back move to front when converting from Word 2010 to Adobe Acrobat XI

    Images that have been set "Send to Back" and wrapping is set to "Behind Text" will move to front, overlapping text when file is converted to Adobe Acrobat XI.  I'm on Windows 7.  Anyone having this problem?

    How you convert the document to PDF format? Export/Create a PDF, Save as PDF, print as PDF, or using Adobe Acrobat?
    Please try to save the document as PDF format and then check the result in Adobe Reader.
    If you are using Word 2010/2013, the save as PDF is a build-in function and you can find it from File > Save as
    If you are using Word 2007, please firstly download and install the Microsoft Office Add-in - Microsoft Save as PDF or XPS .

  • +++Back Button Wording on Micro

    I read a thread somewher regarding missing "Back" wording on the back button. Any grounds for me to get my Micro exchanged for a new set as mine is missing the word? Thanks....

    Hi,
    My micro has the "back" word on the back button. I think it's a matter of what you prefer. On their advertisements you can clearly see the "back" on the button.
    If the player is working I don't think it's a big deal since there could be other bigger problems. On mine the clicker sound won't work (even if it is "on" in the player settings) but that doesn't bother me. Also, on mine the display "player is locked" will not appear anymore when I lock the player and touch a button (for some reason this happened after I updated the firmware, I think it's a firmware issue).
    Either way the choice is yours. Hope this helps

  • After saving a file using Excel 2010 in the My Documents folder, it cannot be found using the open button in Excel 2010

    When certain files are saved using Excel 2010 to the My Documents folder, they cannot be found by using the Open button within Excel 2010.  But the file is always found using My Computer and following the path to My Documents.  What is
    even odder is that if I do a "Save As" within Excel and rename the file to the same name but with a "!" at the beginning of the name, it will then show up in the Excel Open window.  There doesn't seem to be a distinct pattern as to
    when the file can or cannot be displayed by the Excel Open button.
    I am using Windows 7 64bit along with Office 2010 64bit.  Windows has current service packs and updates.  There are perhaps 200 - 400 Excel files in the My documents folder. Some of them are .XLS and some are .XLSX.

    Hi,
    Do you mean that you can't find the Excel file when you click Excel->Open->My Documents folder?
    Do you use the other folder path to test?
    Dose the issue occur in other Office suits (Word, Power Point)?
    Do you get some error message, like "Windows cannot find 'FilePath\FileName', Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."?
    Please try the following methods:
    Method1:
    1. Go to the registry. Click START, and in the RUN command line type REGEDIT and hit ENTER or click OK.
    2. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.8\Shell\Open\Command
    3. Double click on the (Default) instance over to the right. Right now this probably says something like:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE /dde
    Change this value to:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE /e "%1"
    4. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.12\Shell\Open\Command
    Again, double click the (Default) entry to the right and change
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE /dde
    to
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE /e "%1"
    Note : Please backup the registry key before you modify.
    Method2:
    Click the File tab, and then click Options.
    Click Advanced, scroll down to the General
    section, and then clear the Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) check box in the
    General area.

  • Cannot change Printer Properties in Word 2010 with J6480. Properties revert to default setting

    When I attempt to change Printer Properties in Word 2010, they simply revert back to the default setting.  I am unable to use the Printer Properties within the Word 2010.  If the default is grayscale, that is all the printer will print unless I change the default setup in the Control Panel. It appears to be an incompatibility with Office 2010 software as other programs allow the change of Printer properties.

    I have the exact identical problem.  Brand new printer (HP PhotoSmart C4780) on a brand new PC (Windows 7).  I cannot access the printer properties dialog box when the PDF file has been opened in an embedded Adobe Viewer window in Internet Explorer.
    When I select [Print] from Word or Adobe Viewer, or anywhere else, I can then press the [Properties] button and it opens the printer properties just fine.
    But if I open a PDF document through Internet Explorer, clicking on that [Properties] button doesn't do anything.  No error or anything.  If I press the [Save] in the Adobe Acrobet-embedded Internet Explorer window, it too does nothing.  This leads me to think it is an Adobe Acrobat issue.  However, I have found nothing in their support forums on this topic.
    Does anyone out there have any ideas?

  • Unable to re-enable a Word 2010 addin

    I'm building an Addin via VSTO for Word 2010.  I got an error message indicating that my addin had a serious error and if I'd like to disable it. Errantly, I clicked "Yes".  Now, I cannot re-enable it no matter what I do.
    Here are all the things I've done:
    File->Options->Add-Ins
    From here, I can see my Add-in in the "Disabled Application Add-ins" section. I click the Add-in then below, the DDLB shows "COM Add-ins". I click "Go"
    In the Popup titled "COM Add-Ins", I see my add in in the list, with the checkbox unchecked. I check the checkbox and click "OK".
    Close word. Re-open word. Addin is still disabled.
    If I don't close word and go right back in to the "COM Add-Ins" popup, it also shows that it's not enabled.
    I've tried going through the registry and removing all references to the Add-in. I've tried doing a solution clean. I've tried deleting my normal.dotm files.
    In all instances, the Word Addin disappears from the Add-Ins list. However, as soon as I rebuild my solution and run, the addin comes back (as expected), but it's still Disabled.
    The addin itself isn't throwing any sort of exception to cause it to be soft-disabled. It's just not loading up. I must be missing something somewhere.
    Any ideas? This is driving me crazy. I've spent hours on it.

    Hi,
    Do you have Add-Ins tab enabled?
    If no, open word 2010 > ‘File’ > ‘Options’ > ‘Customize Ribbon’ > check the check box for ‘Add-ins’ under
    ‘Main Tabs’ and click ‘Ok’.
    Try this:
    1. In Word 2010
    2. Click on 'Help', at the bottom of the menu click on 'About Microsoft Office Word'.
    3. Then click on the Disabled Items button.
    4. Select the Disabled Item and re-enable.
    Hope this helps
    Sincerely

  • List Randomizer Macro for Word 2010

    Way back with Word '97 one of my students wrote a convenient macro for randomizing lists of words.
    Briefly, the list was highlighted and the Macro button (or keystrokes) pushed - and the list was nicely randomized.
    I do not have this Macro anymore and need a similar one for Office 2010 32 bit (MS Word only).
    Note: I am well aware of online randomizers as well as using Excel to randomize a list. However, I wish to eliminate time/energy wasted steps and randomize word lists within Word 2010 itself.
    Any suggestions?

    One approach is:
    Sub Demo()
    Dim Rng As Range, i As Long
    Dim StrIn As String, StrOut As String, StrTmp As String
    Randomize Timer
    Set Rng = Selection.Range
    StrIn = Rng.Text
    StrIn = Trim(StrIn) & " "
    While UBound(Split(StrIn, " ")) > 0
      i = UBound(Split(StrIn, " "))
      StrTmp = Split(StrIn, " ")(Rnd(i)) & " "
      StrOut = StrOut & StrTmp
      StrIn = Replace(StrIn, StrTmp, "")
    Wend
    StrOut = Trim(Trim(StrOut) & " " & StrIn)
    Rng.Text = StrOut
    Rng.Select
    End Sub
    The above assumes a list separated by spaces. For lists separated by paragraph breaks or tabs, insert:
    StrIn = Replace(StrIn, vbCr, " ")
    or:
    StrIn = Replace(StrIn, vbTab, " ")
    before:
    StrIn = Trim(StrIn) & " "
    and insert a corresponding:
    StrOut = Replace(StrOut, " ", vbCr)
    or:
    StrIn = Replace(StrOut, " ", vbTab)
    before:
    Rng.Text = StrOut

  • Why can't close open multiple docs in Word 2010 in multiple windows while having the option to close them out while keeping Word open?

    End User of mine is wanting to open multiple docs in Word 2010.....first initial glance I thought it was a PICNIC issue. But when addressing it she has it set up to NOT "Show all windows in the taskbar" that option is unchecked so that way she
    can close out docs in Word and not actually close Word. But with unchecking that box it only stacks the docs it won't display them in mutliple windows. This is not the case with Excel as she has the option enabled to "Show all windows in the taskbar"
    but yet the enduser still has the option to close out the spreadsheet and keep Excel open. Is there anyway to keep that second smaller x in Word to close out the docs but yet open in multiple windows like Excel does?
    Please advise!
    Thank you and any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi VyDrix13,
    What will happen if you check the option of “Show all windows in the taskbar”?
    If you want to closing document and keep Word open, the alternative is to click File > Close, right there under Open and Save.
    You also can add the Close button to the Quick Access Toolbar.
    If there is anything that I can do for you regarding this issue, feel free to post back.
    Best regards,

  • Word 2010 hangs when adding a contact via the Envelopes and Labels dialog box

    I am having the following issue on all PC in our network.
    Open Outlook.
    Open Word 2010.
    Click the Mailings tab.
    Click Envelopes.
    Click the Address Book button.
    From the Address Book drop-down select the Contacts folder.
    Right click in the list & select New Entry.
    Select New Contact & click OK.
    Fill in the basic info: name, email, phone numbers, address.
    Click Save & Close.
    At that point the contact form closes. It looks like the address book list is trying to come back but that is where it hangs. At that point the only option is to force Word to close. However, the new contact is created in Outlook.
    I can reproduce this with Word/Outlook 2010 RTM & SP1.
    Has anyone else ran into this before?

  • PDF From MS Word 2010 Reported Bug Still Exists

    I need to create a PDF file today that contains images in a MS Word 2010 document.  There is a bug in Acrobat XI Professional  that I reported months ago.  This bug is still here, and now I need help.  Can anyone tell me what I can do to fix this issue?
    Here is what happens, and I just reproduced this problem I found awhile back.  As I stated, I did report it, but this issue is still here!
    I am creating a user guide for software.  I insert BMP images that are screen shots.  On any page where a BMP image exists within Word, the resulting PDF document does not allow selecting of text in Acrobat Reader XI.  The selection goes totally insane and highlights random text through the entire page.  This is a software defect for certain.
    My question is can I easily fix this with minimal time?  I had to fix this last time by removing all images from MS Word and instead pasting the image in Acrobat XI.  When I do this, selecting text works.  The problem with this bug work-around is that this take lots of time (that I do not have).
    Help please???

    I found something even better.  There is a non Adobe PDF creator on my office computer that correctly creates a PDF.   The issue is within PDF creation, because I am using Acrobat Reader XI and selecting text with no problem at all.
    I did not have to change a thing other than not use Adobe Acrobat Professional to create the PDF.  The software that works correctly where Adobe's own fails is called PDF Xchange Driver by Tracker Software Products LTD.
    ...and as I already stated, I reported this issue many months ago...

  • Hyperlinks not converting when creating a pdf from Word 2010 to Adobe Acrobat 11.0.6

    First off, let me say that these are not table of contents hyperlinks.  I have created a document in Word 2010 (not a MAC) with hyperlinks to files residing on our company's intranet.  In Word the hyperlinks work great but when I create the pdf, the links do not work.  I have converted using both PDFMaker from Word and Create a pdf from within Acrobat.  Yes, I have all the boxes checked regarding saving links.  The links appear to work partially.  Meaning that when I hover the cursor over the link, the pointy finger appears but when I click I get a pop-up message telling me the file could not be opened.  Also, when I hover over the hyperlink, the address appears.  So, I think it knows there's a link and it tries to open but can't.  When I create the file within Adobe the link works - once.  When I click on the link I get a pop-up window asking me if I want to save my file before closing.  After my response the file closes and the linked file opens.  However, when I go back into the file and try the hyperlink again, I get the pop-up telling me the file cannot be opened.  HELP!  I am at my wits end.  After spending hours yesterday trying to research (I think I read every thread related to hyperlinks but I am not using a Mac, table of contents or Adobe 7 around which it seems all the prior questions revolve) and futily creating and recreating the pdf (as if doing the same thing repeatedly would somehow magically work) I am about to give up.  This is a document that will be published to our intranet for use by employees which cross-references other documents to which they can refer for additional information.  I would prefer to publish a pdf and not a Word document.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks for your input Bill. I've checked the preferences and "view large images" is turned on. It's not all of the images which are missing, only certain ones do not transfer over to PDF.

  • Can't open Pages files from iPad in Word 2010 on PC

    I have not been able to open any files created on my iPad (iOS 6.0.1) with Apple Pages in Microsoft Word 2010 on Windows XP Pro and hope someone can suggest a solution.
    I am emailing the files as attachments (.docx files)  When I try to open the file on my PC, I get an error message when I open them in Word that says:
    Word was unable to read this docuemnt.
    Try one or more of the following:
    * Open and repair the file.
    * Open the file with the Text Recovery converter. (C:\Users\...\name of file.doc)
    In addition, I tried to open the .docx file in Openoffice.org 3.4.1 and it got a read error.
    Any suggestions? Is there any kind of plug-in/add-in for MS Word 2010 that would correct the problem?
    Thanks,
    Rich
    Additional: Pages was purchased today from the App store; iPad is Gen4 a couple days old

    So...I have played with it more.  Simple documents work most of the time.  But if I take a more complex doc to Pages, edit it and save it as a Word doc then trasnfer it back to  PC or Mac it will fail to open.
    Would be nice if I could trust the App.  WIll mess more with it but it is very frustrating.
