Back up and Recovery of the Crystal Server XI

How do I back up the Crystal Report Server XI and recovery it our data on a new server.

The Import Wizard can back up all content on your server into a BIAR file. This can then be redeployed on another server.
Import Wizard should have been installed on the server when you installed CRS.
NOTE: The Import WIzard cannot automate backups, so you will have to script that on your own.
Also, I must emphasize that the best way to backup your data is to backup the filestore and the system db. The import wizard / BIAR files should only be used when all else fails or only if a few files need to be restored. While restoring from a BIAR file is straightforward, it does not always work as advertised.
In summary:
The primary backup mechanism should be backing up the CMS DB and Filestore. The BIAR files from the Import Wizard should only be used as a secondary mode of backup.
The CMS DB (also called the System Database) is the database the CMS connects to. This is the database specified in the CCM.
As for not being able to see users, well, you won't. You should see 7-8 tables, all stating with CMS_. The data in the CMS DB is encrypted and is not meant to be queried directly.

Hi Guys,
We use Crystal Server 2008, along with an automated java tool that updates the JNDI name for the database. Both the java tool and the Crystal Server reside on the same box, and communicate via TCP/IP.
Recently, we had some space added to the Crystal Server box (around 10 GB). Since then, I am seeing this problem when I invoke the java tool. It started off as an occasional problem, but now is consistent. I have attached the error below.
Has anyone every come across anything like this? We had multiple pairs of eyes look into this problem, and all signs point to a Network Issue, even though both the client and the server are on the same box.
Any help in this matter is much appreacited.

What if you try to increase the request timeout? what happens.
To do that you can copy the clientSDKOptions.xml file located per default to the following location <BO install path>\Business Objects\common\4.0\java\lib to the classpath of your application then Open clientSDKOptions.xml and change CORBARequestTimeOut from 600000 to a value large enough to allow the report to render, for instance 1200000.
Default vaule is 600000 (10 minutes)
You can also trace your application based on the Java RAS SDK by doing the following:

That is not good, lets see if we can get your email back up and running again. Take a look at the article below to go over the settings to just make sure nothing is out of the ordinary. You may end up needing to remove the email account and add it back in.

This might be an issue with the gacutil that you are using. I have used the gacutil that comes with Microsoft SDK.
You can install Microsoft SDK from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3138

You can open a command prompt by hitting the start button and typing CMD<Enter> in the search box that opens up.
To move the current backup folder from C: to D: type in this command and press <Enter>
Move "C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup" "D:\Backup"
Where <User> is your Windows user name.
To make iTunes look for the data in the new location type in this command and press <Enter>
MkLink /J "C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup" "D:\Backup"
If your external drive has a different letter or you already have a folder called "Backup" then edit "D:\Backup" accordingly in both commands.

When setting up the email using Apple 'Mail' (version 8.2 (2070.6)) I do not get an option to set up my email as using POP. I can go to Outlook from Microsoft and I get a chance to set my mail up using POP, however I would prefer to use the Apple supplied 'Mail' email programme as I'm using Office 365 and may not want to continue the subscription sometime in the future.
Any advice on setting Mail to POP would be appreciated. A not so Happy Wombat.

As Sunil explained - MCOD (or) you can think to have 2 differnt DB SID's as weel 2 different SAP SID's. By default 1st Installation takes Listener Name as LISTENER & port 1527 when you are doing second Oracle installation use another lister name as LISTENER002 & give port 1526 ( for example).
MCOD will be the best option to unplug from oracle instalation requirement but - think of future plans. even it can be any size business don't think to do MCOD with SAP Business System like R3 .
Becuase qwe may have different requirements from the Business / functionla Team for refreshing / building the development system with a copy of production system - don;t get confused there are Techniques for Refreshing a Development Instance with production system also.
Any how you have to take decission to go with MCOD (or) not . I also request SUNIL to comment on MCOD installations with R3 system .
But I beleive Sascha Version is wrong - i can have multiple application servers of differnet products on single Box if my OS supports.

You probably have changing settings disabled in Restrictions.

Installation of EBS 12.1 and Database on the same server

Due to resource crunch, I would like to do new installation of EBS 12.1 and Database on the same server where already EBS 12.1 and Database installed.
I have one server where EBS 12.1 and Database installed (Single node installation).
Now I want to create another environment for other purpose (another test env.). But I don't have another server .
So Can I start new installation of EBS 12.1 and database on the same server ?
I have enough space and memory on server.
Are the installtion conflict with each other ? any implications happen on the first environment ?
I want my first environment run fine without any prob., after installing EBS and DB on the same server.

You can use the "commadmin group search" command to list the ldap groups (if you have Delegated Administration installed/configured), otherwise you can use a directory ldapsearch to find the groups.

I'm German, so my english writing might not be perfect
I had the same Issue on a 5 i bought. Exact same screen and writing. Battery was totally drawn, first thing I had to replace. The screen had been replaced and since then it wouldn't work anymore according to the previous owner.
It took me a couple hours, after recieving a few errors like 4013 it just never completed the restore, got really hot as well. The Flexwire of the Dock Connector seemed damaged, replaced the dock, but that didn't help.
I almost gave up, thought the Logic Board was bad.
BUT! Then i deceided to check if it has anything to do with the Screen assembly, and it did.
Long story short, on mine the front facing camera, and sensor assy were bad.
Anyhow, the phone works ''perfect'' when i leave them unplugged. So I just ordered a new one and we will see if thats the problem or if the damage is in the Logic Board.
If so, i can live without the sensor and front cam.
Just wanted to share, good luck everyone.

I don't think backup is supported but you may be able to access the TC's internal drive, from the iPhone, with an application like: NetPortal
Note: I haven't actually tried this app, so if someone else has and was successful in accessing the TC's drive they can certainly chime in.
Follow-up. Just downloaded and installed this app ... and I can now verify that it, indeed, can access both my TC's internal and externally attached USB HDD.

I hit iPhoto send and I get: The email server didn't recognize your username/password combination. -- then can't get back to re-enter, which was correct one in first place.

I have filled out an iPhoto "postcard" format with a message and photo, etc., and when I hit send, I get the message "The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination." I hit OK but it does not clear to refill the log-in -- and I believe the info was correct to start. I'd like to save (and not have to re-crete) the card, but see no way of doing so, thus am fearful of closing it (for good).

in the iPhoto preferences ==> accounts delete your e-mail account and reenter it

SUP and WSUS on the same server.

Hi,
My SCCM environment as follows:
Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard, Configuration Manager 2012 R2, SQL 2012 SP1 CU7
WSUS 6.3.9600.163.84 . All these running on the same server.
SCCM SUP role is enabled, WSUS using SQL Express database. This is Central and Primary site server as well.
Issue is:
1. SUP does not get updates. SUP is configured to get updates from Internet and WSUS console Sync options pointing to its own server name. I tried to change WSUS console sync option to internet couple of times but it looks WSUS changes this back.
2. I want to use WSUS/SUP for SCCM Endpoint definitions update and also for patch installation for clients (Clients Windows update pointing to this server)

What do you mean that this is a Central and Primary site server? Those two roles can not be installed on the same site server.
When it comes to SUP in ConfigMgr, the installation process on WS 2012 is basically this:
1. Install the Windows Server Update Services role, run the initial configuration wizard.
2. Install a SUP site system role on the server and let ConfigMgr configure everything.
Additionally I'd not run a SQL Express for the WSUS since you already have SQL installed. Instead I'd create the SUSDB on the same SQL server that you're running the ConfigMgr DB on.
In my preprequisites installation tool, all you need to do is to open a PowerShell console, run the tool and click on the Install WSUS button, specify the SQL Server and the tool will automatically configure everything. When the tool has completed, you can
go ahead and add the SUP from ConfigMgr and configure it from the ConfigMgr console.
