BAM feedback into BPA

I'm just learning BPA (10.1.3.4) and BAM, but I already know that I will need the ability to monitor my process after deployment and capture information that I can then use to refine my model. Working from the BPA side I went looking for a way to "import" information into my current model, but I did not find anything directly.
I found some capabilities that look like they may work, but they will not be easy for a business analyst (BA).
# Use Scripts: \\      It appears that there are JavaScript APIs that would allow me to read an XLS spreadsheet and modify the attributes of a model, such as probability or time to perform. Can anyone confirm this?
# Use Import/Export \\      Here the process is exported in XML, defined by the ARIS-Export.dtd. Another process theoretically could update this XML file with the necessary changes and I believe that all the BA needs to do is import the newest version and rerun the simulation.
The issue I see with both of these solutions is that once the BA changes the model to fit the new data the process that builds the updates for BPA must be updated to reflect the changes in the model. This does not appear to me to be a task that is suitable for the BA.
Have I missed anything? Any simple examples around that I can use to get started?

Hi there,
For large amounts of attributes it might be inconvenient to input the values manually in BPArchitect. Basically there are two options to maintain attributes in Excel:
*1.     Use the "Export of attributes" and "Import of attributes" report.*
By default this report contains only attributes that are pre-filled by the BPArchitect (e.g. "Name"). In order to maintain additional attributes like "Description", "Remark/Example" and "Person responsible" you need to prepare those reports. Put at least one character as attribute value, so that the export recognizes the attribute as "maintained" and includes it into the export file.
* Define the attributes that should be maintained externally.
* Use the Attribute Wizard to enter a dummy character for each attribute (e.g. a <blank> or <.>). Right-click on the group you would like to maintain the attributes for. Choose between folder-, diagram-, object- and relationship-attributes. The selection can be limited on folder structures, diagrams and objects. Select the attributes you would like to maintain and fill them with the dummy character. Take into account that already maintained attributes will be overwritten without any chance to get them back. Therefore it is recommended to create a backup first.
* Press "Finish" to complete the Attribute Wizard.
* Right-click on the group and export the attributes to Excel (Evaluate/Start report/Export of attributes).
* Maintain the attributes in the new report.
* Right-click on the database into which you want to import the translated attributes. Select Evaluate/Start report and run the report "Import of translated attributes". The wizard guides you through the relevant steps.
*2. Use the Excel process generator.*
Instead of using the 'Export of attributes' and 'Import of translated attributes' reports you can use the process generator to maintain your attributes. It is run on a macro called "Open Excel table in Process Generator" (Evaluate -> Start macro...). The export can be performed on objects, groups and models.
Example: Use ARIS-Find to get a list of all functions within your group. Select these functions and run the macro as described above. MS Excel opens and the Oracle BPA Suite Process Generator table is created with contents (see the Oracle BPA Suite Process Generator toolbar). Press the "?"-Button for a more detailed introduction. With "Edit columns" you are able to enrich the generated table with further attributes (e.g. description and so on).
According to the documentation you have to use the macro "ProcessGenerator import" for importing respectively synchronizing the models or objects with BPArchitect. However, if you follow the steps described in the doc you will notice that you can't choose this particular macro in 10.1.3.4. Therefore right-click on the appropriate group in BPArchitect and select the menu option "Import -> XML files". It initiates a merge operation between the old and new attribute values using the macro "Import Process Generator table (XML)". Furthermore the Excel process generator allows you to create simple EPCs in Excel. See the help for further details.

Danilo

  • What is the best way to integrate an ER diagram into BPA?

    Hi,
In the context of a conversion project, trying to understand what is the lighter and easier way to import an ER diagram into BPA. The tools I'm currently using allow me to generate any xml/text data from current models... but trying to understand the minimal effort so the main semantic of models get kept (not a big deal if fonts, positioning, layout things are lost on the way)
Attached is an example problem, would be great to see what textual representation denoting the same semantic can be accepted by BPA
    My example model:
    Product(prod_id (pk), name) ---* Order({prod_id, cust_id} (pk), quantity_ordered) * --- Customer (cust_id (pk), cust_name)
A customer can have 0 to many orders
A product can be ordered by 0 to many customers
A order is made for 1 product and 1 customer, and for each order we know the quantity of the product ordered
if someone has already run integration of large ERds into BPA would be fantastic help to have some hints/feedbacks on your approach best practices
    kind regards
    Frederic

There is a thrid party product that con convert data models between most tools, including BPA. You can find information about it here: http://www.reischmann.com/. If you just want to migrate the main objects and their characteristics and the diagram is not as important you could look at using Excel as a data transfer medium. The report "Import Data in Excel Format" allows you bring information into BPA quickly, however it is a one time conversion and won't accomodate updates. You could also look at the macro "Process Generator" which also allows for objects to be imported from an Excel SS. Either of the SS solutions will require some configuration.

  • How to Import data models into BPA

How can data models be imported into BPA? We understand that models can be imported from other
BPA repositories. We need to import from something that does not start out as a BPA model. We know how to import the data objects using the Process Generator. But do not understand how to efficiently import Cluster or entity objects (representing tables) connected to ERM Attrribute objects (representing fields). Currently only an EPC model can be imported using the process generator. We've tried importing structures using UML import of class models, but the resulting model is not usable in standard data models.
    Any ideas?

  • Soundblaster 5.1 giving feedback into home thea

    Hello I am having issues.
I just installed li've 5. and have set up the output into my hometheatre system.
I am getting feedback to all the speakers and a lot to the sub, sounds like a high pitch buzz,
Any ideas. I have checked all connections and if i set my sub levels all the way down it almost goes away.
    Thanks

    Hi there,
I have the SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS ($99 in CompUsa) (probably same as yours) and want to connect it to my Yamaha HomeTheater 6. receiver. I stumbled accross a different forum that may have information you need (the link is below this reply).
" is there an adapter out there that will convert my 5. analog into a digital coax signal? " I don't think you need an adapter because your Audigy 2 ZS sound card has a Digital Out jack (as I recall: it has smaller hole than the rest and at the other end opposite from the IEEE jack). You can use a mono mini plug to RCA cable from Radio Shack (or electronic stores); it runs less than $20. You need to connect the mono plug into your small Digital Out on the ZS sound card and connect the RCA plug to your digital coaxcial input locates in the back of your receiver (assuming your receiver has the that input; hopefully). And there you go.
By the way, do you know what size is the mono mini plug that your Digital Out jack can accept? I am thingking about /8inch. Let me know because I don't have the the sound card is at home at the moment.

  • Maxx hd speaker feedback issue

i just got my phone in February everything works fine. and everything is up to date as for as OS and phone and all that good stuff.
I have sound people can hear me i can adjust volume. my issue is that randomly there is feedback from my speaker phone.
for example my phone will be sitting there screen off not listening to music no calls just sitting there. I go to pick it up and i get this ear splitting feedback sound. if i blow into the microphone  and it can be heard coming out of the speakerphone speaker. i can usually get this to stop by making a call (i've just been calling voicemail) and the feedback stops. i can put it down and it's fine. can get texts and calls and no issue this can last anywhere from minutes to days. sometimes though i put it down, no feedback get a text pickup the phone and BAM feedback within a minute.
i've searched the internet and can't seem to find anything about this problem. is it just my phone? i get regular texts and texts from viber so could viber be giving me this issue? (same notification sound for viber and regular texts)

Mmike89, thank you for sharing your issue with your device. This does sound strange and sounds like an issue in the hardware. I checked and I'm not showing this issue being reported. I don't think an app would be causing this, but you can try uninstalling Viber temporarily to see if it still occurs. Also make sure to reboot after re-installing. If still having the issue, then it sounds like the phone needs to be replaced.
    Thank you,

  • BPA 11gR1 and JDev 11.1 - Roundtrip - what is included?

I am aware that Oracle has improved the roundtrip capability in the recent versions. I have got a question for understanding, what exactly is included.
To my knowledge the "roundtrip" contains the following:
    Part 1: BPA -> JDev
1- Inside the BPA database you generate a dataset by "Sharing with IT" that JDev understands and can interpret as BPEL flow.
2- If you change something within BPA, you can update the generated dataset and can let JDev compare the changes and finally merge new flow elements into an already extended BPEL flow.
This process is quite clear to me.
    Part 2: JDev -> BPA
Although I can save within JDev my manually extended composite into the BPA Server, I haven't found anything about this way back into BPA. I am aware that this is from modelling perspective perhaps not the right approach, but what will happen if I save my own JDev changes back and what can I do within BPA with it? What kind of data will be saved?
Can you point me to some documentation to get a better understanding?
    Thanks a lot
    Volker

Thanks a lot, such a process sounds logically and would complete my understanding of a roundtrip.
I just checked how it will work, but it seams that I have misinterpreted something, because it is not working in my environment.
Finally I got a "java.lang.Exception: script BPELImport, line 101: There are no IT modifications to be propagated to BPA".
Here are the steps I did:
    1. Send a fresh Blue Print from BPA to JDev.
    2. Open BPEL process in JDev and add an additional "scope" between existing scopes, and name it appropriate.
    3. Add some additional activities inside this new scope.
    4. Save everything
    5. Close existing PBEL view.
    6. Going back to composite view
    7. Hit "Save to BPA Server ..." icon.
A message tells me that it is uploading xx Bytes ...
But finally the error message above appears.
I have checked the folder called "Improvement Proposals" in the root of my BPA Server Database, but it is empty (which is logical if the message is correct).
    This test is repeatable.
What is missing? Why is my additional scope not recognized as an improvement proposal?
    Thanks a lot!

  • Oracle BPA change management

    Hello,
Our customer wants to have full business process management cycle - from modeling to executing. So they want to model processes in Oracle BPA and to execute them in Oracle BPEL PM. That is why they decided to create BPEL process models in BPA, export them to BPEL files, make necessary changes in JDeveloper and deploy processes to Oracle BPEL PM.
But there is a question about change management in BPA.
Let's say, we have a BPEL process model diagram, which was exported into executable BPEL file and used in JDeveloper for development. After some time we decide to change our BPEL diagram in BPA. As I understand, there are no relationships between Oracle BPA and Jdeveloper, so if we export this updated BPEL diagram into executable than we have to make changes to the executable BPEL by ourselves?
    Victor

    Hi Paul,
bi-directional change management is available since BPA/JDev R11. You can mainly achieve the following:
    1. Send BPMN from BPA Suite to JDev/BPEL and enriech it later there
    2. Reverse engineering from an existing BPEL process into BPA Suite as BPMN
    3. Send a change request over from BPA Suite to JDev/BPEL and review/accept it there
    4. Send a change request over from JDev/BPEL to BPA Suite and review/accept it here.
Please send me your email address to receive details on these processes, my email address you can get out of my profile.

  • Importing Feedback Error (Bug?)

    Hi,
I get the following issue when importing feedback from a prod environment into a dev environment:
ORA-20001: GET_BLOCK Error. ORA-20001: Execution of the statement was unsuccessful. ORA-20001: You can't import feedback into the same system! <pre>begin wwv_flow_api.set_feedback_origin('MYWORKSPACE', 'DEVELOPMENT'); null; end;</pre>Here's how to replicate it:
    Prod Machine:
    Workspace: myworkspace
    export file
    Dev Machine:
    Workspace: myworkspace
    import file
I get the error message above.
This issue does not occur when the dev and prod workspaces names are different. I'm not sure if this is a bug or intended functionality.
    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,
your problem is that you have the same "Feedback Synchronization Source Identifier" on body systems. It's defaulted with the workspace name when you create a workspace.
Here is what you have to do.
    On your PROD system:
    1) Login into INTERNAL (Instance Administration)
    2) Go to "Manage Workspaces"
    3) Existing Workspaces
    4) Pick your workspace and click the "Edit" icon
    5) Modify the "Feedback Synchronization Source Identifier" to "PROD" or something else.
    On your DEV system:
    1) Login into INTERNAL (Instance Administration)
    2) Go to "Manage Workspaces"
    3) Existing Workspaces
    4) Pick your workspace and click the "Edit" icon
    5) Modify the "Feedback Synchronization Source Identifier" to "DEV" or something else.
Now your import/export should work without any problems.

  • Secondary encoder feedback

I would like to be able to supply an analog feedback into the primary feedback axis and thus drive to this given analog feedback position. My problem is controlling the velocity at this time. The system runs off at a velocity controlled by (initially) the P of the pid loop. This can be any velocity and is usually quite large.
Ideally I would like to be able to drive the velocity at a mm/sec rate and thus this would lean to having the encoder connected to secondary feedback and using the Pv control. This though is not distinct in its velocity as it is function of driving parameters etc and the pid loop parameters. The driving velocity I would like to be able to set accurately say 2mm/sec variable) etc.
I have had a bit of a playaround wi
th altering the maximum output voltage from the board via the load torque limit setting vi, although this is not an elegant solution to the problem and may in fact create more headaches as then I am losing torque from my motor and not achieving any high torque requirement driving.

    Wayne,
If the motor is properly tuned it should not run faster than the velocity which you loaded unless you run into a following error at which point the PID gains will kick in and may take you above your target velocity.
The degree of precision with which you can reach a target velocity depends on how well the motor PID is tuned and the resolution of the encoder. You may want to look at Understanding Servo Tune
You mention that the system starts by running off at a velocity controlled by P. This implies that you are introducing some discontinuity which makes the error term increase. I recomend looking for the source of the discontinuity. It may be a res
ult of static friction you may play around with the Static Friction parameters in the servo tune section.
If none of the above sugestions work, there is a velocity threshold parameter. You can set this to the max velocity, and then throtle back via the load torque limit setting that way you can get your full torque the rest of the time.
    Hope this helps!

  • I am trying to burn a CD from a playlist in iTunes. I set everything up, and then when it tries to burn, it cancels the burn right away, and gives me the error code: 4251. What am I doing wrong?

Okay, so I wanted to burn a CD to play on players in the house. The songs on my playlist are from CDs that I own and imported into my iTunes. Here are the steps I've taken:
    1. I created a playlist
    2. Selected File > Burn Playlist to Disc...
    3. My Burn Settings are as follows: Maximum Possible Speed (I have tried all the other speeds as well with the same result), Audio CD (No gaps between songs), Use Sound Check is selected, Include CD Text is selected (I have also tried unselecting these two options).
    4. Then I clicked Burn
    5. Within a couple of seconds "Cancelling Burn" shows up in the window at the top of the screen, and a box pops up that says: The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred (4251).
I have tried different CDs, I have changed all the settings in the Burn Settings box, and I get the same result over and over again. I researched the error 4251, and it refers to a problem with importing songs from a CD. This is totally irrelevant since I'm not trying to import, I'm trying to burn. This is a blank CD, and it is a CD-R. These CDs are off a tower I purchased less than a month ago, and have had absolutely no problem burning other things to these CDs. I really don't want to have to re-import these songs to Windows Media Player or another application just so I can burn what I want onto a CD, but this is almost the point I am at.
iTunes certainly isn't helping me much at this point, and I would appreciate any feedback into what I am possibly doing wrong in trying to create a CD.

I have Windows 7 on a Dell.  Open and play iTunes in the compatability mode and use Windows XP (service pack 2).  Disregard any messsages to disable the compability mode.  This has worked for me.  I have also reinstalled iTunes and played with burn speeds etc.  These ideas did not work.  Compatability mode works.

At first sight, I was surprised too, but after reading both terms thoroughly I came to the same conclusion that orafad posted above: The text you posted is entitled Oracle Technology Network Early Adopter License Terms. Of course, EA-Terms are different from the ones for the production release. To illustrate the example with software from another company: It was possible to download betas of Microsoft Windows "for free", but it was just for evaluation, testing and "early adopting" purposes, not for productive use. Similar rules apply here. The final release will definetly not be published with that EA License. Oracle has published a draft of the final terms so you get an idea of what you'll be allowed to do with the software you evaluate when it will be released.

  • Reading file from a folder : File dir = new File(URL+aFile_to_add);

    Hi,
Trying to read files from a dir on my site using a JSP and bean. I've tried nearly every option for the filepath I can think of and it doesn't seem to be finding the file...
    Here's the bit:
    String URL = "images\\wedding_photos\\";
    File dir = new File(URL+aFile_to_add);
    String[] files = dir.list();
It's working locally, but I obviously had to change the path from c://... to the above.
The full code is listed below in the addWedding Method
The method removes the .jpg from the file name and then writes the new file name to a database
    Thanks for any insight.
    Regards
    Jim

    String URL = "images\\wedding_photos\\";
File dir = new File(URL+aFile_to_add); ok, ok, I'll answer...
    1) What gives you the impression that the relative directory "images\\..." exists (or, in other words, what makes you think your current directory is the parent of "images"?

  • Premiere Pro CS6 serious error has occurred, crash troubleshooting

ERROR MESSAGE: Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project
Problem: Starting last night Premiere would crash with this error message. This has been happening increasingly more over the past couple weeks, but starting last night and today - it has happened so much that I cannot get more than 5 minutes of work done without it crashing. It has happened on saves, renders, playback, switching active timelines, removing the mojo effect from a clip, and while sitting dormant. I’ve had the computer less than a year and hope that it is not a serious problem with my RAM or graphics card.
Using Premiere Pro CS6 - subscription based with latest update installed
    SPECS:
    MacBook Pro Retina, Mid 2012
Processor: 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 650 M 1024 MB
Software: OS X 10.9.1 (updated after problem started)
(nothing external from factory setup in terms of hardware)
Use an External USB 3.0 7200 RPM drive from OWC for project files
Use an External Seagate 3 TB drive for media storage
Using all DSLR footage from Canon 6D, Canon 5D mk II, and Canon 60D and audio from external recorders (.mov, .WAV, .wav files)
Third-party effects or codecs: Use Pluraleyes 3.0 and Mojo color from Red Giant
I realize this is a general error message and there are several forums posted from mostly more than 5 months ago. I cannot seem to find an answer that will help me. Here is what I have already tried:
    1. updated to Maverick
    2. checked for updates for Adobe software
    3. Cleared the Media Cache
    4. Switched from CUDA to software only
    5. Updated CUDA and switched back to CUDA in premiere
    6. Held SHIFT while starting up (nothing seems to happen or pop up on screen at least)
    Next:
—Going to uninstall Premiere and reinstall.
Any suggestions or possible fixes are great appreciated. What should my next step be?

    UPDATE:
    STEP 1:
Uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere - worked without crashing for the longest time since yesterday. After 1 hour of running - it crashed once again with same error message and same report (see below).
    Same as before:
    Exception Type:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
    Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000000
    STEP 2:
--Updated the RED GIANT plugin "mojo" (minor coloring software)
This worked for less than 10 mintues and then crashed again - but this time with different exeception details (I'm not sure what these mean)
    Crashed Thread:  2
    Exception Type:  EXC_BREAKPOINT (SIGTRAP)
    Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000
    Application Specific Information:
*** CFRelease() called with NULL ***
    STEP 3:
Going off of the idea that it may be the plugin causing the issue (since it needed to be updated) I went into the project and deleted all of the files containing this effect in this project file (note: i have used this for 10+ projects on this computer with no trouble).
I thought it was fixed, from about 8:00 PM - 11:45 PM no crash - then as I was playing back clips - crashed again.
I have been loosely following these guidelines: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-system-errors-freezes-mac.html
I am not sure where to go from here - should I continue into the "advanced troubleshooting" even though I'm not sure if any of these things are related.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I have launched two other Premiere Project Files (from previously completed projects) successfully without crashing. I tested a few things in the projects before returning to the problem project. If I suspect there is a problem with the file in particular - how do I find out what is causing the problem?
--I already removed MOJO effects thinking that could be the issue from the last files that were
--I have already gone back to a previous version from a week ago and imported the Sequence I needed. Still crashed.
I have sent 5+ reports to Adobe on the crash. Any feedback into this is much appreciated.
