BAPIRETURN  to  BAPIRET1 (or BAPIRET2) : Is it possible?

hi,
Is there anyway to match the old structure BAPIRETURN to the new structure BAPIRET1 (or BAPIRET2) ?
Because in a side we have:
BAPIRETURN-TYPE=Message Type (E,S,etc..)
BAPIRETURN-CODE= Message Code (char5)
BAPIRETURN-MESSAGE=Message Text  (complete text with "&" replaced by their value)
Whereas in another side we have:
BAPIRET1-TYPE=Message Type (E,S,etc..)
BAPIRET1-ID= Message class Id
BAPIRET1-NUMBER= Message Number
BAPIRET1-MESSAGE=Message Text  (complete text with "&" replaced by their value)
So is there anyway to retreive the "Message Class / Message Number" from the "Message Code" ?
like a standard transco table, I don't know...
Note: I need that, because I catch the returned message of BAPI_PO_RELASE, and I have to put them in a BAPIRET1 to manage firstly a Log.
Many thanks
Mickael

Hi,
You can use the FM BALW_RETURN_TO_RET2 or just map the code field like this:
  MOVE BAPIRETURN-CODE(2)    TO BAPIRET2-ID.
  MOVE BAPIRETURN-CODE+2(3)  TO BAPIRET2-NUMBER.

  • BAPI-RETURN CODE INF

Hi everybody what is the main purpose of return code.
    Data dictionary structures
    -BAPIRETURN
    -BAPIRETURN1
    -BAPIRET1
    -BAPRET2.
    THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Each BAPI has a return parameter that is either an export parameter or an export table.
A BAPI should be able to record and classify all possible errors that may occur.
You have to create a parameter named Return for every BAPI. This parameter returns exception messages or success messages to the calling program.
BAPIs themselves must not trigger any messages (such as MESSAGE xnnn) in the coding. In particular they must not generate terminations or display dialog boxes. Instead, all messages must be intercepted internally and reported back to the calling program in the Return parameter. Otherwise the BAPI will not be processed correctly and control may not be given back to the calling program.
The export parameter Return can be implemented as follows:
As a structure, whereby it must be defined in the function module as an export parameter, as well as in the method in the BOR.
As a table, whereby it must be defined in the function module as a table parameter, as well as in the method in the BOR as an export parameter.
Before filling the Return parameter you should either initialize the structure with CLEAR or the table with REFRESH and CLEAR.
If the return parameter is not set or is set to an initial value this means that no error has occurred.
The Return parameter may be based on the following reference structures:
    BAPIRET2
You must use this reference structure when developing new BAPIS.
    BAPIRET1, BAPIRETURN
These reference structures are still partly used in old BAPIs.
Both structures must be filled in the logon language.
Have a look at return parameters in below link.

  • Bapi doubt ...difference rfc and bapi

Plese give me the following information.
    1) wt is the difference between BAPIRETURN, BAPIRET1 and BAPIRET2?
    2) wt is the diff. between an RFC-enabled fm and BAPI ?

    Hi again,
    1. YES, Definitely it will behave like BAPI.
    2. The sap concept of
naming function modules (related to business object)
       and naming them as BAPI*
       is JUST FOR IDENTIFIECATION PURPOSE,
               and nothing else.
      We can give ANY NAME.

  • Multiline BAPI return structure  and RFC Adapter

Since SP14 RFC Adapter check return structure of RFC function.
But how it works if BAPI returns multiline BAPIRET2?
Will adapter loop all elements and perfom commit only if <b>all</b> alements don't have errors.

    I'am about this:
<i>As of SP 14 support for commit handling for single BAPI calls was added to the RfcAdapter receiver channel. If activated in the receiver channel setting, the received XI message will be executed as synchronous RFC (sRFC) in the receiving system. This is also true for asynchronous (QoS EO) XI messages to receive and analyze the execution result by the RfcAdapter.
The received response is parsed by the RfcAdapter to get the BAPI return parameter with name "RETURN". This return parameter can be of BAPIRETURN, BAPIRET1 or BAPIRET2 types. The "RETURN" parameter is checked for the response status (field TYPE) which can take following values:
                  1. 'S' : Success
                  2. 'I' : Information
                  3. 'W' : Warning
                  4. ''  : Empty String
                  5. 'A' : Abort
                  6. 'E' : Error
If the response contains one amongst the first four response status then it implies that the BAPI was successful. If the response contains one amongst the last two response then the BAPI failed. If the BAPI "RETURN" parameter is of not of type ABAP structure rather of type ABAP table, a empty table is also considered as successful execution result.
In case of a successful execution the BAPI function module "BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT" is called within the same context to trigger the commit of the BAPI. In case of a failure the BAPI function module "BAPI_TRANSACTION_ROLLBACK" is executed by RFC Adapter which rolls back the changes.</i>

  • Is it possible to circumvent error message within a function module?

    Hello friends,
Is it possible to circumvent error message generation from within a function module? My program calls a FM (namely FKK_S_CADOCUMENT_WRITEOFF) to do some updates. However, in certain cases this FM throws error messages and terminates the whole process. I cannot control the aftermath because it never gets back to the calling program. It stops at the FM level and not at my program level.
In essence, what I would like to do is to let the FM do its thing, generate some kind of exception (but no error message), come back to the calling program, and then I can capture the status in my program and do what is necessary from then on.
    Your help is greatly appreciated

    Hi,
    Do not use Excerption Tab.
Instead declare a variable or Structure at export parameter.
Which will return you error Description or Status of the FM.
    For Example.
Goto Se37 ---> key in FM name of yours.
    Go to Table tab
At Parameter Name Column key in RETURN, Type as LIKE and Associate type as BAPIRET2.
    ThankS & regards,

  • Possible to trigger output type through Function module?

    Hi,
Is it possible to trigger output type through Function modules or through some codings or any standard FM's?

u can check the below the material also
    what is BAPI?
BAPI stands for Business API(Application Program Interface).
A BAPI is remotely enabled function module ie it can be invoked from remote programs like standalone JAVA programs, web interface etc..
You can make your function module remotely enabled in attributes of Function module but
A BAPI are standard SAP function modules provided by SAP for remote access. Also they are part of Businees Objest Repository(BOR).
BAPI are RFC enabled function modules. the difference between RFc and BAPI are business objects. You create business objects and those are then registered in your BOR (Business Object Repository) which can be accessed outside the SAP system by using some other applications (Non-SAP) such as VB or JAVA. in this case u only specify the business object and its method from external system in BAPI there is no direct system call. while RFC are direct system call Some BAPIs provide basic functions and can be used for most SAP business object types. These BAPIs should be implemented the same for all business object types. Standardized BAPIs are easier to use and prevent users having to deal with a number of different BAPIs. Whenever possible, a standardized BAPI must be used in preference to an individual BAPI.
The following standardized BAPIs are provided:
Reading instances of SAP business objects
GetList ( ) With the BAPI GetList you can select a range of object key values, for example, company codes and material numbers.
The BAPI GetList() is a class method.
GetDetail() With the BAPI GetDetail() the details of an instance of a business object type are retrieved and returned to the calling program. The instance is identified via its key. The BAPI GetDetail() is an instance method. BAPIs that can create, change or delete instances of a business object type
The following BAPIs of the same object type have to be programmed so that they can be called several times within one transaction. For example, if, after sales order 1 has been created, a second sales order 2 is created in the same transaction, the second BAPI call must not affect the consistency of the sales order 2. After completing the transaction with a COMMIT WORK, both the orders are saved consistently in the database.
    Create( ) and CreateFromData! ( )
The BAPIs Create() and CreateFromData() create an instance of an SAP business object type, for example, a purchase order. These BAPIs are class methods.
    Change( )
The BAPI Change() changes an existing instance of an SAP business object type, for example, a purchase order. The BAPI Change () is an instance method.
Delete( ) and Undelete( ) The BAPI Delete() deletes an instance of an SAP business object type from the database or sets a deletion flag.
The BAPI Undelete() removes a deletion flag. These BAPIs are instance methods.
Cancel ( ) Unlike the BAPI Delete(), the BAPI Cancel() cancels an instance of a business object type. The instance to be cancelled remains in the database and an additional instance is created and this is the one that is actually canceled. The Cancel() BAPI is an instance method.
Add<subobject> ( ) and Remove<subobject> ( ) The BAPI Add<subobject> adds a subobject to an existing object inst! ance and the BAPI and Remove<subobject> removes a subobject from an object instance. These BAPIs are instance methods.
    Example Code
U need to give the step_nr, item_nr, cond_count and cond_type so the correct conditon will be updated. If no condition exists for the given parameters, a new condition will be created.
U can find these parameters for a particular condition type in table KONV.

    Bdc to Bapi
The steps to be followed are :
    1. Find out the relevant BAPI (BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE for VA02).
    [for VA01 use BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2]
    2. Create a Z program and call the BAPi (same as a Funtion module call).
    2. Now, if you see this BAPi, it has
    -> Importing structures.
eg: SALESDOCUMENT: this will take the Sales order header data as input.
    -> Tables parameters:
eg: ORDER_ITEM_IN: this will take the line item data as input.
    Note :
Only specify fields that should be changed
Select these fields by entering an X in the checkboxes
Enter a U in the UPDATEFLAG field
Always specify key fields when changing the data, including in the checkboxes
The configuration is an exception here. If this needs to be changed, you need to complete it again fully.
Maintain quantities and dates in the schedule line data
    Possible UPDATEFLAGS:
    U = change
    D = delete
    I = add
    Example
    1. Delete the whole order
    2. Delete order items
    3. Change the order
    4. Change the configuration
    Notes
    1. Minimum entry:
You must enter the order number in the SALESDOCUMENT structure.
You must always enter key fields for changes.
You must always specify the update indicator in the ORDER_HEADER_INX.
    2. Commit control:
The BAPI does not run a database Commit, which means that the application must trigger the Commit so that the changes are read to the database. To do this, use the BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT BAPI.
For further details... refer to the Function Module documentation for the BAPi.
    Bapi to VB(Visual Basic)
Long back I had used the following flow structure to acheive the same.
    Report -> SM59 RFC destination -> COM4ABAP -> VB.exe
my report uses the rfc destination to create a COM session with com4abap. com4abap calls the vb.exe and manages the flow of data between sap and vb exe.
    You need to have com4abap.exe
If com4abap is installed you will find it in sapgui installatin directory , C:\Program Files\SAPpc\sapgui\RFCSDK\com4abap.
else refer OSS note 419822 for installation of com4abap
after making the settings in com4abap to point to the vb program and setting up rfc destination in sm59 to point to com4abap session , you can use the following function modules to call the vb code.
for setting up com4abap and rfc destination please refer to the documentation for com4abap.

How to use this FM ?
    Any help is appreciated .

There are function modules to convert an error message into structure BAPIRET.

  • CATS: BAPI_CATIMESHEETMGR_CHANGE error in BAPIRET2

    Hello there!
I’m using the BAPI_CATIMESHEETMGR_CHANGE from a CATS like Web-application to validate user data. The BAPI is called with the TESTRUN flag set. Error messages for each record are provided in the RETURN-table (BAPIRET2). Its component ROW contains the index of the erroneous record. However, if I provide unchanged records the ROW component will always be 0. Although I get the error message but I cannot find the corresponding record.
E.g.: If I have a time collision the error message will be: “Time collision 10:00 - 11:00 with 07:00 - 10:10”. I must get the corresponding record because I want to add the WORKDATE to the error message as well. Otherwise the user cannot find the wrong entry easily.
How can I solve this issue? Is there any other way to validate user input for CATS? In my option the BAPI doesn't work correct.
Thanks for your help and kind regards
      Reinhard

    Hi Shwaps,
Just going through he documentation i found 3 points.
1.This function is only supported if you use the Professional Services Order Processing and Personnel Planning (PRS_ERP_CPILS_1) business function in your system.
2.When posting begins, all numeric fields not in use must be set to initial. You do this by filling all characters of the relevant fields with '0'.
3.Always schedule data to be posted as often as possible and include only a small number of records in each posting.
    Hope it helps.

  • IPod is not recognized by Windows Vista - possible solution

During the past couple of weeks that I faced this problem I found out that a lot of people had the same question as I did.
    Here is a possible solution.
I have HP Pavilion laptop with Windows Vista. After I connected my new iPod – it didn’t show up in My Computer as a new device and in Device Manager it was listed in “Other devices” with a question mark next to it. I already had iTunes installed – it didn’t show up in iTunes. On the attempt to reinstall the driver I had a message that the driver was found but an error occurred while installing it.
    Here is what I did:
    1. Install iTunes (it has iPod driver for Vista in it).
    2. Turn on iPod and connect it to computer.
    3. Restart computer with iPod turned on and connected to computer.
    4. On the start up the computer will begin automatically installing the driver and the message will appear in the corner that new device is being installed.
    5. After it has been installed – check My Computer – you should see it listed there.
    6. Run iTunes and configure iPod.
iTunes might run a little bit slow when configuring iPod for the first time.
    Good luck.

if only this fix worked for windows xp or even 2000 (at my job)
insane, but it IS a driver/usb problem i now know, at least i've gotten that far.

  • Mid '09 MBP bootup issue - flashing folder; possibly a fried drive?

    Hi All,
This is my first post here. Today my 14 month old MBP 15-incher froze in the middle of some casual browsing/iTunes listening and decided to not respond to any mouse or keyboard input. I gave it some time to figure itself out and then after about 5 minutes of nothing, decided to force a shutdown by cutting power (10 second power button hold). Then upon my next boot the computer gives the chime, shows the grey screen (no  logo), does nothing for ca. a minute and a half and then presents me with the glorious flashing questionmark-folder-whatever logo. Just great.
I reset the PRAM (option + command + p + r), tried Safe Booting (shift + boot), tried forcing the laptop to boot into the default os x drive/partition (x + boot), tried booting with GUI boot location selector (option + boot) and, when all mentioned practices failed, inserted a retail copy of snow leopard and booted the machine to the ODD.
Disk Utility confirmed my fears: the main HD has no partitions and the "First Aid" tab can't verify or repair the disk.
Help me out here, guys. Is my drive dead (and all my data gone)? Is this a "directory collapse"-style issue? I had one of those babies a month ago on an '07 white MacBook... a new HDD and two hours of data restoration work for $150 at a local Mac-centric repair shop fixed that issue. But this seems a little more serious.
I was two days away from activating a central Time Machine backup to the home-network-attached 2TB HDD, for both Mac laptops in the household. I was also two days away from getting a Crashplan.com family package (yes, I wanted double backup). Why 2 days from now? Because my Carbon Copy Cloned backup HD (a WD elements 1TB) died a week ago. As in, "started-puffing-out-smoke" died.
    Perfect timing.
    Ideas? Please?
    <Edited by Host>

I also suspect your internal HD has crashed. You can run Apple Hardware Test and then Google any error codes however I believe it's probably gone.
Without any backup yes your data is probably gone, there are data recovery services however they are extremely expensive.
If you purchased AppleCare you can take it an AASP for repair however they probably cannot do a thing about your data. If you are not covered by AppleCare of course the expense will be your however look at this as an opportunity to upgrade the internal HD to something with more storage or is faster.
Once you have the new HD installed you will need the original Snow Leopard Install Disks (or possibly your retail copy of SL) to format the new HD and re-install SL and the iLife applications.

    Good luck,
    Roger

  • Possible to clear vendor open item against already posted payment document?

    Hi
Can you advise if it is possible to clear an open item against already posted payment/clearing doc? Here is the background to the scenario:
An invoice was posted with transaction FB60. This was subsequently picked up in the payment run F110 and cleared by payment document number 200005678. The item went to the bank on the paymnet file and was paid out to the vendor. The transaction reference, which appeared on the incoming bank statemnet was the payment document number 200005678.
Subsequently it was discovered that the original invoice should have been posted with reference to a PO using MIRO. The requirement now is to reverse the paymnet documnet 200005678 in SAP, then reverse the document that was posted using FB60. After this the invoice will be posted using MIRO. This will create an open item on the vendor account.
This item will not be piad out again. Therefore the requirement is to try clear that open item against the previously posted payment document 200005678.
Is there any way to clear this vendor open item against the originally posted payment document 200005678?? Or any other advice on how this scenario can be handled in SAP?
    Thank for your help.
    Mike

    Hi,
I tried that option in our test system. I ran FBRA and entered Paymnet Documnet Number (+Clearing Doc Number), Company Code, Fiscal Year.
Then chose menu option Clearing -> Reset Cleared Items.
The system pops up a window asking for a reversal reason and reversal date.  I use 01 and posting date of today.
The system now posts another cleared document. That document places the invoice as an open item on the vendor account. It does not place the Payment Document as an open item on the account.
When I go to F-44 only the open vendor invoice is showing there. There is no open paymnet document.
Is there perhaps some configuration setting that stops the placement of the paymnet document as an open item when reset?
    Thanks for your help again.
