Bash completion broken since upgrade

Hi,
since I did an upgrade the bash autocompletion behaves strange. Completing directories will end in a space instead of an slash. Eg you enter "/et[tab]" and it completes "/etc " instead of "/etc/". This makes navigating directory hierarchies a PITA. Can anyone confirm this? Any known workarounds?

For those still looking for a solution to this:

Hi.
For those who use this package and bash completion in same time:
remove the _filedir function from the '/etc/bash_completion.d/acroread'
file provided by the package. See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/745833.
P.S. Updated PKGBUILD and respected acroread files one may found here:

You can check the transport service is running in which service account - Local or network
It should be running in network account by default.
You can run get-transportagent and check if there are any transport agents installed

  • Rendering of Arabic/Transliteration broken since upgrade to 29

    Hello,
    Mozilla Firefox 29.0.0 - 29.0.1, MacOS X 10.9.2
Problem: Arabic fonts (Lateef, Sheherazade) as well as transliteration Arabic > Latin is broken since update to 29. They were fine before. This happens when loading pages from a database. The protocol uses 'mixed content' and there seems to have been an update in Firefox's handling of such content. However, even explicitly unblocking such content doesn't solve the problem (apparently, one has to deblock every single page or is there an option for an entire domain? Otherwise, this is a pain in the neck and completely impractical). Firefox 'chooses' to select encoding seemingly at random: View > Character Encoding > Unicode/Western. Unfortunately, this version of Firefox scratched the possibility to select default encoding.
Now, the pages loaded do not declare their encoding. However, this was not a problem because FF would use Unicode (UTF-8) by default. Setting instead "Default for Current Locale" is obviously useless. That's where the problem seems to be. Why was the plain default option changed so that we have no longer access to it? As you will understand in mixed environments (using a variety of languages and keyboard layouts), 'default locale' is pointless. Any suggestions are most welcome.

FredMcD. Thank you for the hints. I'm sure they help in most cases. It didn't solve my problem though. Normal websites work actually quite well, it's just the internal ones that have this problem.
cor-el. Thank you also for your hints. I checked and I'm pretty sure that it's not a corrupt font. The problem, as I've mentioned, is that the server does not declare its encoding. This wasn't a problem as long as UFT-8 could be declared as fall-back. Now, as I've written, there is only the option 'Default for Current Locale' which doesn't help. I suppose either Mozilla puts back the older option or we have to do something here. Would love to post link but I'm not sure there is general access to our servers (probably not) but I'll ask.
I attached an exampled of how the 'garbled' text looks. It's more than garbled there just no font 'resolution'.
Thank you both again for taking the time to give advice. I think your hints will come in useful in general use of Firefox.

  • Sound broken since upgrade from 2.6.29

I wasn't sure if I should post this here or in the multimedia forum. Anyway...
I have an Echo Audio Mia-midi soundcard and sound hasn't been working properly for me since upgrading from 2.6.29. Both 2.6.30 and 2.6.31 share the same issue and reverting to 2.6.29 always solves the problem. It seems some driver infrastructure has changed, because the two "Line out" level meters are not available in alsamixer anymore. Instead I have VU-meters for front, rear, center, woofer and side. These can't be set however, and seem to have no impact on the output (they are sometimes set to 100% and sometimes to 0%, but output is silent in both cases).
Running echomixer (an Echo Audio specific mixer in alsa-tools) and playing sound shows that there is sound playing at full volume at the subdevice channels, but the "final" output is silent, even though all output channels are set at their proper values, including the output mixer. Raising the monitor mixer, effectively forwarding the input channels to the output works as it should, so as far as I can tell, the issue concerns the software/driver output to the soundcard.
I've tried everything I can think of to solve this, but nothing seems to help. I've run an alsa debug script in both 2.6.29 and 2.6.31, but the only difference worth noting that I can find is connected to the line out level meters. In 2.6.29:
    Simple mixer control 'Line',0

  • Ethernet broken since upgrading to Yosemite

On my Mac Mini (circa 2010) I upgraded to Yosemite and ever since I can only operate on the WiFi, Ethernet will not configure or work. It is currently stating there is not cable attached - but there is and I have tested the cable on my PC (it works just fine there). Any idea what to do??  Running OS X 10.10

Well, the issue with USB anything is that the device manufacturers have to supply compatible drivers. Check with CableMatters for an updated driver.

Since the last time I updated both iTunes (10.4.0.80) and iOS (4.3.5) on my iPod touch, I can't do anything!!
Every time I open iTunes, i eats up 50% of my CPU while Mobile Device Manager eats up the other 50%.  This is the case EVEN WHEN THEY'RE NOT DOING ANYTHING!!  I don't have enough CPU left to back up or sync ... no that there's anything TO sync since I can't access the Store.
When I click on the link to go to the iTunes store, the program tries for 15-20 seconds, then just gives up and leaves me staring at a blank page.
Does anybody have any idea what's broken and how to fix it?  This is on Windows 7.

Thank you Ed for your reaction.
At home with version 8.0 there is a artwork tab. At work I have version 8.1.1.10 and there is if I do it the way you discribe only a place to drop the jpg. if I select the whole album. After dropping the .jpg it apears in the square but after clicking OK the .jpg wil not apear in the library. I'm doing this for years without any problems. I can't get it.

  • [fixed] /dev/cdrom broken since upgrade to kernel 2.6.28.8

Yesterday, before I upgraded to these packages:
    kernel-2.6.28.8-1 (relevant)
not relevant (see discussion): klibc-udev-140, udev-140
I could use /dev/cdrom fine as a link to my actual CD-drive. For example I used
    cdparanoia -Q
while having a Audio-CD inserted and this gave me the TOC of the CD.
After the update I have this:
/dev/cdrom exists but isn't accessible. By default,
cdparanoia stops searching for an accessible drive here.
Consider using -sv to force a more complete autosense
    of the machine.
    More information about /dev/cdrom:
    Checking /dev/cdrom for cdrom...
Could not stat /dev/cdrom: No such file or directory
After some testing I found that my device names somehow "shifted". These both work
    cdparanoia -Q /dev/sr0
    cdparanoia -Q /dev/sg1
So, yes it works, but before I didn't had to set everything to /dev/sr0, because the default /dev/cdrom just worked.
Is this a bug or a feature in the new udev?
    EDIT:
This seems to be not a problem with the udev upgrad, but rather with the kernel upgrade. See discussion below.
Last edited by JonnyJD (2009-03-31 23:30:16)

@skyscraber: I don't know if this is related. My problem boils down to just the kernel upgrade now and I haven't had problems that bad.
@magaso: I also that problem during testing. For me the fix was not using the new kernel with old udev-139. Doing that gave me "/dev/cdrom -> /dev/cd/cdrom-1:0:0:0" and "/dev/cd/cdrom- -> ../sr0".
Now back to the problem that started this thing:
This is NOT because of the upgrade to udev 140. Like I wrote above, I got the new kernel at the same time. Downgrading udev and klibc-udev didn't help with my problem, but downgrading to kernel 2.6.28.7-2 made everything work again.
The symlinks were also NOT the problem, because my symlinks itself work fine, even when the problem occurs. Either way they are like the ones from B:
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 26. Mär 17:16 /dev/cdrom -> /dev/cd/cdrom-1:0:0:0
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 26. Mär 17:16 /dev/cd/cdrom-1:0:0:0 -> ../sr0
    brw-rw---- 1 root optical 11, 0 26. Mär 17:16 /dev/sr0
So with the old kernel "cdparanoia -Q" works again, without having to specify /dev/sr0 explicitely.

  • Home button completely unresponsive since upgrading my 3.1 3G to iOS4

At first I thought it was just being terribly slow, like the rest of complaints.
If is started any app, I would not be able to get back the home screen, unless I turn the phone off and on again.
This happened immediately after the update to 4.01

    Just an update.
I went to the Apple Store in Winnipeg, Manitoba and was told I had to buy a new iPhone.
What kind of scam is this?

The fix is for ME to buy a new iPhone.

  • Bash-completion upgrade conflicts with pacman

pacman warned me that /usr/share/bash-completion/completions/makepkg would be overwritten.
pacman -Oo said then that it's part of bash-completion 1.99-1, but there's already bash-completion 1.99-2 that hasn't any more included that file cause now as it seems, the file move into the new pacman package.
    https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit … 50dbc12ba0
So following process to not corrupt anything:
    1) Move the file out of the way:
    # mv /usr/share/bash-completion/completions/makepkg /usr/share/bash-completion/completions/makepkg.bak
    2) Upgrade pacman
    # pacman -S pacman
    3) Upgrade bash-completion (this step will remove the file)
    # pacman -S bash-completion
    4) Reinstall pacman again, to not loose the file.
    # pacman -S pacman
    5) Now, you can remove the backup.
    # rm -f /usr/share/bash-completion/completions/makepkg.bak

  • Bash-completion issues after bash upgrade

    Hi.
Is it only me or bash-completion stopped working after bash upgrade (3.2.017-2 -> 3.2.025-1)?
I also had to remove ". /etc/profile" from all existing .bashrc files to have it properly interpreting /etc/profile and /etc/profile.d/* files,
which was fine with previous bash version. Probably that line was not needed anyway, but for sure the behavior of bash has changed.
And bash-completion doesn't work anymore at all.
bash-completion looks like it has been updated too, but it still doesn't work properly.
    I have: core/bash-3.2.025-1 and extra/bash-completion-20060301-7.
"Not working properly" means that when I press the tab it does just a normal completion. Without respecting the type of a command for which I am completing the argument.
It used to complete only media files for 'mplayer', only directory names for 'cd' etc. And now it tries to complete every file present in the directory.
Hmm... I guess that '. /etc/profile' line was needed after all. When I re-added it it started working again. Though /etc/skel/.bashrc file does not have this line.
When I use the skeleton version of .bashrc, bash-completion doesn't work.

Music on my iPhone has become very difficult to edit since upgrading to 5.0.1.  If I simply want to delete some songs, it insists on a complete sync cycle after EACH one I delete.  This is so annoying… (I have over 400 Christmas songs I won't need until next year) I have also noticed it randomly keeps updating album artwork…adding more time to each sync.  Is there some way I can turn off the syncing until I have picked and deleted all the songs I want?

The cause was probably a USB glitch during a sync or when copying. The music resides on the phone in separate files. A master file contains a database with an index to the music, an entry for each track and a "pointer" to the file containing the track. Somehow the index got corrupted with duplicate entries. It's likely that the music itself wasn't duplicated, but some tracks had more than one entry in the database. I've seen this happen when syncing (rather than manually managing) also. In my case deleting the track from the Music tab in iTunes, syncing, then adding it back fixed it.
A related problem I've seen is an album may be split, with some tracks in each of 2 or more album entries in the listing. Fixed the same way.

  • Since upgrade to 10.4.5: Faxing via shared fax modem broken?

Since upgrading my Macs to Mac OS X 10.4.5 sending faxes via a shard fax doesn’t work anymore. When attempting to send a fax the error message
    "Error while printing"
pops up. However, when faxing directly from the Mac with the shared fax modem, everythings works flawlessly.
This used to work prior to upgrading to Mac OS X 10.4.5.
    Anyone here with similar experiences?
    Werner.
Mac mini   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

The kernel panic points to Airport. Either your Airport software is way out of date or your Airport card may not be properly seated or has failed. So the first thing to do is remove the Airport card. If the panics cease, then reinstall the Airport card and see what happens. If it panics again, then remove the Airport card.
The next thing I would do is:
Boot from your OS X Installer. Be sure to use the installer for the version of OS X you have installed. After the installer loads select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (or Utilities menu if using Tiger.) After DU loads select your OS X volume from the list on the left, click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (3.0.3 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.1.1 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
The next thing I would do is download the 10.4.4 Combo Updater and reinstall the update. Then reinstall the Airport card and see if it works properly.
I would suggest that before installing the update that you first boot into safe mode.

    VPN
VPNs used within organizations allow you to communicate private information securely over a non-private network. You may need to configure VPN, for example, to access your work email. Ask the network’s administrator for the settings necessary to configure VPN for your network. After one or more VPN settings are defined you can:
Turn VPN on or off: Go to Settings > VPN.
Switch between VPNs: Go to Settings > General > VPN, then choose a configuration.
See also Appendix A, iPhone in Business, on page 141.
    iPhone in Business
With support for secure access to corporate networks, directories, and Microsoft Exchange, iPhone is ready to go to work. For detailed information about using iPhone in business, go to www.apple.com/iphone/business.
    Using configuration profiles
If you’re in an enterprise environment, you may be able to set up accounts and other items on iPhone by installing a configuration profile. Configuration profiles let your administrator set up your iPhone to use the information systems at your company, school, or organization. For example, a configuration profile might set up your iPhone to access the Microsoft Exchange servers at work, so iPhone can access your Exchange email, calendars, and contacts, and it may turn on Passcode Lock to help keep the information secure.
Your administrator may distribute configuration profiles by email, by putting them on a secure webpage, or by installing them directly on iPhone for you. Your administrator may have you install a profile that ties your iPhone to a mobile device management server, which allows your administrator to configure your settings remotely.
Install configuration profiles: On iPhone, open the email message or download the configuration profiles from the website your administrator provides. When you open a configuration profile, installation begins.
Important: You may be asked whether a configuration profile is trusted. If in doubt, ask your administrator before installing the configuration profile.
You can’t change the settings defined by a configuration profile. If you want to change settings, you must first remove the configuration profile, or install a new configuration profile with the new settings.
Remove a configuration profile: Go to Settings > General > Profile, then select the configuration profile and tap Remove.
Removing a configuration profile deletes the settings and all other information installed by the profile.
