Basic configuration AP-Switch problems

Hello,
I am having a problem when I try to configure my AP1131 to a port in a WS-C3560-24PS-S. I've always known that the switchort must be configured as a trunk.
I will try to give a clear explanation of what I've done:
In the AP.
1.- ip address
2.- default gateway
3.- vlans configuration
4.- map SSIDs to vlans
In the switch.
Only configure the port as a trunk
interface FastEthernet0/9
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport mode trunk
This way I can do everything. Get access to the network, ping, telnet other devices, but not administer nor ping the AP. But if I configure the switchport as an access port:
interface FastEthernet0/9
switchport access vlan 10
switchport mode access
This way I can ping other devices from the AP, ping and telnet the AP from the wired network (my laptop). I can connect to the SSID but not ping nor telnet AP or other devices.
I hope that someone give a clue of what I'm doing wrong or forgetting to configure.
Thanks a lot

Have you tried going through the Wireless LAN Controller and Lightweight Access Point Basic Configuration Example (Document ID: 69719)?

  • "Server either does not have a virtual switch configured or none of the configured virtual switches have an IP address assigned" error driving me nuts!

OK; have been trying to setup a test VM based RDS deployment for a few days now with no luck.
    this error mentioned above:
"Server <server name> either does not have a virtual switch configured or none of the configured virtual switches have an IP address assigned" error is driving me nuts!
I have removed and re-added the RD Virtualization Host role numerous times, each time having the "create a virtual switch" checkbox selected, but it did NOT create any virtual switch.
I created the external virtual switch manually and tried to create the desktop collection again, no luck with the same error.
    a few questions:
    1. you don't assign IP to a switch! you assign IP to Network Interfaces. why does the error puts it like this?! it is technically wrong.(yeah yeah I know all about how you'd assign IP to managed switches in real world to telnet into them and manage them.
you know better than me that it is not the case here!)
2.the RDS Virtualization hosts are using their wifi card as the card for the virtual switch. could that be the reason? I even disabled their unplugged wired NIC just to make sure that the wifi is the only available option for the RDS wizard to use for the
virtual switch creation; but it didn't use it and it didn't create any virtual switch automatically.
3.if WIFI nic is indeed the reason, is it your suspension or an official documents is there somewhere stating so (that the WIFI NICS on a Virtualization hosts are not supported as the hub for a virtual switch).
4.what are the properties of the virtual switch the RDS requires? does it have to be external? why can't it work even with my manually created external switch?
    5.how would I fix it?
P.S: the environment is made up of 2 laptops, having windows 2012 R2 trial installed on them, using their wifi to connect to the out world. no cable is plugged into their wired NIC card.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
The simplest short term solution was to connect each computer to a small switch that had no other connectivity. This brought up the link light on the external NIC and allowed the creation of the collection to complete. You need to use an external switch. You
can create one external switch which might fix the problem.

    Hope it helps!

  • Several errors during system preparation / basic configuration

    Hello,
during the basic configuration I get stuck in the process step configure automatically -> setup bw.
In the slg1 I can see several errors where I don't know if they are related to my bw problem or other probleme. Maybe someone can give me a hint how to solve the issue.

in the Solman_setup I have the problem that
ESR: Extractor setup is not sucessful!
Cube 0SM_BPMRH is not active and will now be activated automatically
    System status failed for system
Could someone please help me to solve some of the problems?
    Thanks a lot, Vanessa

    Hello Vanessa,
I wouldn't recommend looking at SLG1 at all times and try to find solutions for it, since Solution Manager deals with a huge landscape and in most cases some warning is thrown in the logs for any reason.
For example, the "CL_DIAGLS_ABAP_INST_TECH_SY Item does not exist" and "no active standalone product version @35\QLong text exists@" can be due to systems coming from SLD to the LMDB with no correct definition. If SLD is not passing this information, it is 99% because the system is not well defined there. Hence it is just a warning.
Now if you see something in SLG1 and indeed you have issues in this diagnostics system, it must be investigated.
    For your BI problem:
Please execute the steps as described in section "3.2.1 Activation of
Info Cube from BI Content" in the Setup BPA Guide.

    p_Guide_BP_Analytics.pdf)
Furthermore, I strongly recommend that, for Solution Manager 7.1, you make sure you have the latest SP in ABAP and JAVA. Now we are at ST400 SP03  and LM-SERVICE SP03 patch level 1.
You must not forward to the next steps if you have a step yellow, red or with Update checked.

  • Cisco/Linksys SLM224G SWITCH: Problem with VLANs

    Hi!
I'm trying to set up VLANs in my racks. I have some knowledge about VLANs, but I still can't set it up in my way.
    My situation:
I have PC which contains two virtual machines, which has to works as a routers between three networks: LAN1, LAN2, WAN. It's a bit complicated, but I'll try to draw it:
                                                     |-------------|
    |----------------------------|                   |           e1|-to-eth1-VM2-----WAN
    |VirtualMachine 1        eth0|---trunk-VLAN1&2---|g1         e2|-to-eth0-VM2-----LAN2
    |eth0=VLAN1 eth1=VLAN2       |                   |           e3|-to-eth0-VM2-----LAN2 etc.
    |                         PC |                   |   SWITCH  e4|
    |VirtualMachine 2            |                   |           e5|-to-eth1-VM1---wire-to-LAN2
    |eth0=VLAN3 eth1=VLAN4   eth1|---trunk-VLAN3&4---|g2         e6|-to-eth0-VM1-----LAN1
    |----------------------------|                   |           e7|-to-eth0-VM1-----LAN1 etc.
                                                     |-------------|
    gX = Gigabit ports
    eX = 100Mbit ports
    VMX = Virtual machine number
wire-to = patch-cord connection between ports on the switch
Schema of routing and logical visibility:
    LAN1---VM1-----VM2---WAN
                  |
    LAN2----------|
Important note is that LAN1 and LAN2 has to be separated (visible only through routers). WAN has to be visible only through VM2 for LAN2 and through by VM1 and VM2 for LAN1. It looks easy, but VLANs which I done on that switch seems to doesn't works.
    I'm doing this like that:
Step1: VLAN Management / Create VLAN...
Creating VLANs from 1, 2, 3, 4 (numbers doesn't meters right now - I now that number 1 is restricted at the switch).
Step2: VLAN Management / Port to VLAN...
Setting up VLAN1 with ports g1, e5 (both tagged or untagged? - I haven't seen difference)
    Setting up VLAN2 with ports g1, e6, e7, etc...
    Setting up VLAN3 with ports g2, e2, e3, etc...
    Setting up VLAN4 with ports g2, e1
Step3: VLAN Management / Port Setting...
Setting up port e1 to PVID4 (frame type=all I suppose, but what with "ingress filtering"?)
Setting up port e2 to PVID3
Setting up port e3 to PVID3
    etc...
Setting up port e5 to PVID1
Setting up port e6 to PVID2
Setting up port e7 to PVID2
    etc...
So, on that configuration and on that switch it doesn't work for me
I know that switch is seeing MACs from VLANs which are done by PC's, because when I get in "Admin / Dynamic Address" I can see MACs on correct ports and with correct VLAN ID. So the problem is to forward VLANs on their ports, next clear frames from IDs and let packets go (and back: take clear packets, add VLAN ID and send to gigabits ports).
Showed configuration is the one of many that I tried :/ but I think this one is the best one.
Or maybe I don't know VLANs as I think and that schema is impossible? Please tell me if I' doing sth wrong.
    Regards
    and waiting for any suggestions,
    Lucas

You need to make sure that your VirtualMachine can send tagged frames if the VMs share physical ethernet ports on the host.
I count 4 different LAN segments but you have only 2 physical ports on your PC (router).
And VM2 requires 3 physical connections according to the list below.
Depending on the virtualisation software you can maybe create the connection PVM1 to VM2 internally inside the PC (logical connection)
Are these the connections you require ?
    VM1 --- LAN1
    VM1 --- VM2
    VM2 --- WAN
    LAN2 --- VM2
Is this correct ? Will your PC, Virtualisation Software/Hypervisor tag frames with VLAn tags ?
If this is true I can help you configure the switch.

  • Basic configuration in GRC 10 for portals

    Hi Gurus,
Could you please tell me the basic configuration details in GRC 10 for portals.
    Thanks,
    Mukesh

    Hi Mukesh,
    You can refer to https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/sno/ui_entry/entry.htm?param=69765F6D6F64653D3030312669765F7361…
However there is no such guide on Portal integration with GRC, you might need to follow below steps:
1- Create one HTTP type RFC connection between GRC and Portal system.
2- Create System Alias in portal system for GRC system
3- Deploy the GRC Portal content in Portal system
5-Portal content comes with 5 work-sets and one security role. You can assign the portal role that comes with the Portal content to user in Portal and also GRC roles to the same user in GRC system.
    Hope this helps.

  • Willy introscope issue in Basic Configuration

    Hi Experts,
I am facing issue with Willy introscope enterprise edition, we are unable to view the installation path in SOLUTION MANAGER 7.1 SP12, Basic configuration in step 3.
Can any body please through some light on this issue.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jana

Dear Janarthan, As a pre-requisite to this step you need to perform following first then take it head with basic configuration.
    1. A diagnostics agent needs to be installed and connected to Solman on the Wily EM host.
    2. The operating system user of the diagnostics agent needs to have read write access the Wily EM installation directory. (defaul : /usr/sap/ccms/wilyintroscope).
Also, You would need to have the Wily EM installed as suggested by Matt to resume the Basic Config at Solman.

Are you required to perform the "Basic Configuration" everytime after you apply a new support pack stack to solution manager?
Or is it a one off, after the initial installation?
