Basic struts config question
Hi,
What does the "input" attribute of the struts-config.xml do?
Thanks
Check out the [url http://struts.apache.org/dtds/struts-config_1_2.dtd]struts-config dtd[ur;]. It documents each of the attributes/tags you can use in the xml file.
input Module-relative path of the action or other resource to
which control should be returned if a validation error is
encountered. Valid only when "name" is specified. Required
if "name" is specified and the input bean returns
validation errors. Optional if "name" is specified and the
input bean does not return validation errors.Simply put, it specifes the jsp page to return control to when validation fails - ie return you to the input screen, display errors and let you correct them.

Basic flashback config question
I have an Oracle database (10.2.0.4.0 on Linux) installation that I have inherited. A user deleted some data and I attempted to recover it. There were backups and archive log files in the FRA, but when I queried about flashback status I got:
select flashback_on from v$database;
FLASHBACK_ON
NO
1 row selected (0.06 seconds)With that config set to "no" that means I can not use flashback to recover lost data. It must be set to yes before the failure occurs in order to use flashback to recover afterwards. Do I have that right?I have an Oracle database (10.2.0.4.0 on Linux) installation that I have inherited. A user deleted some data and I attempted to recover it. If your retention is not enough big, however you disabled FLASHBACK, you cant get it.
But there is a big procedure, if it is really critical, if your database is running in archivelog mode, Restore database in any test server, recover database before deleting rows, Take an export of the table and import into this database.

Help me for a basic Struts tag question.
I need display a image on my page, but I don't know how to replace
"?" in <html:img src="?" /> with one of my bean's property.
My teacher asked us must not use any <%..%> style expressions
Please help me do it.
Thanksok - too early - what I mean to say is, scratch the bean:write, I didn't read very clearly, use your html:img but use the property attribute, not the src attribute.
Sorry for the confusion

Basic Server Config question: Restricting user access to files & folders
I am in the process of locating a good Apple Server consultant in south florida, but in the meantime I want to educate myself on what we have.
We now have an XServe in our office, running 10.6 Server. We intend to use it as a File Server, and we want to set it up in such a way that we can specify which individual users have access to each directory.
As a 100% beginner, where would you suggest I start in understanding how do this? Or even, which Help resource I should look at to begin learning. I imagine that our senario is a very simple one. I'd appreciate any help or suggestions from anyone out there.Hi
These for starters:

Question about struts-config.xml
Hi,
In the struts-config.xml,
What is the difference about "redirect="true" and redirect="false" ?
thanks,
happybaobaoHello,
redirect = truemeans that the ActionForward () statement in your execute method of the Action class will perform a response.sendRedirect. You can see that the URL is getting altered in the clients browser
redirect = false means the vice-versa.
I would recommend that you go through the Struts official site and see the DTD specifications in the URL
http://struts.apache.org/dtds/struts-config_1_2.dtd
for more details.
Thanks and regards,

COnfiguring Struts-config.xml file for two level popup windows?
This is the code for 1st level
<action path="/search/advanced" scope="request" parameter="method"
type="org.fao.gilw.agris.action.AdvancedSearchAction" name="advancedForm" validate="false">
<forward name="failed" path="/search/advanced.jsp" redirect="false"/>
<forward name="success" path="/search/advanced.jsp" redirect="false"/>
</action>"search" is the main window, in this window I'm opening/loading a pop-up window called " advanced" ..the above code is for this
Now again i want to pop-up another window in "advanced" page
So how to configure for this in Struts-config.xml file...?Better post this question at a Struts related forum. There is a mailinglist at their own homepage and a forum at Nabble.com.

Dynamic struts-config.xml datasource
Is there a way to setup my application so it can detect what server(testing or production) it is running on, and decide which database to point to without me having to change the config file when I deploy the app in a test or production environment? Basically, I would like to only have to build the .war file and place it either on my test server or production server and it point to the correct database without me having to fiddle with the config files every time. All ideas are welcome.
Thanks.
-PVNevermind, I thought of another way of doing it. I'll add it to my build script. So I specify which struts-config.xml file should be used when I build the .war file.

Using a variable in Struts config, to redirect
In the struts-config file,
to redirect to a different site, I can use
redirect="true"
and mention full path, in my <forward path=
variable.
1. Is there a better way to do it?
2. Since I have to do it in multiple places, is it possible to use a variable? I mean, something like this
<forward
name="success"
path="URL/abc.html" />
Where URL is a variable name that the site path? This way, I can reuse the variable to redirect to other pages too (xyz.html, for example)Hi there,
I don't know...is there only one URL you are using ore are there more than one? Because if it's the same path everytime you can try using this:
<forward
name="success"
path="./abc.html" />
./ // This is the shortcut for the directory you are currently using.
../ // This is the shortcut for the directory above the one you are currently using.This code should do it. If not, try to create a var named for example "vpath" and put it like this:
<forward
name="success"
path=vpath+"abc.html" />Try and tell if it worked ;)

A few post config questions on new setup
Hi Group,
Just a few post config questions.
First, how can I confirm my controller is in fact associating properly with an NTP server? On a typically cisco product, I could just do a 'show ntp associations' or a 'show ntp status'. I cannot see a way to confirm this on the gui or command line.
Second, on my guest network with web-auth, if one were to choose to not use https for web-auth and instead use unsecure http, would that be possible and if so where in the gui?
Thanks.The third field is from a WLC running v7.4 not v7.2. I usually would install a 3rd party certificate, but what eles you can try is issue this command on from the CLI. It had issues working with certain code versions, but you might as well give it a try.
config network web-auth secureweb disable

Using chinese characters in struts-config.xml
Hi
i am developing an application in Chinese language where i need to create all the urls in the Chinese language. i am using struts 1.3.5.can anyone tell me is it possible to use Chinese characters in struts-config.xml action mappings? i tried but it is not working. is there ant way really?
Regards,
A.Don't know about struts specifically, but for Chinese URLs to work you would need to convert to punycode at some point, to comply with IDNA: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punycode
Are you doing that? -

Plz some1 help me as soon as possible with some ideas so that I can resolve the issue.Hi Amit Garg,
<data-sources>
<data-source type = "org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSource" key = "DBA">
</data-source>
<data-sources>
<data-source type = "org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSource" key = "AISDEV">
</data-source>
</data-sources>
u just configure ur struts-config.xml file in the above manner and use the following steps in ur action servlet to retrive the DataSource object
getDatasource(request,"DBA") for accessing first datasource
getDatasource(request,"AISDEV") for accessing second datasource.

No route to host:connect -- error in the struts-config.xml file
hi all,
acutally am doing a struts application in that i have written everything properly
but getting this kinda no route to host:connect error
my struts-config.xml file is like this...
<struts-config>
<form-beans>
<form-bean name="myForm" type="MyForm">
</form-beans>
<action-mappings>
<action path="/action"
name="myForm"
type="MyAction"
scope="request"
validate="true" >
<forward name="success" path="/success.jsp" />
<forward name="failure" path="/failure.jsp" />
</action>
</action-mappings>
</struts-config>
sikandarHi Lee,
I am working on Oracle ADF 10.1.2 and getting the same problem. The lines in my struts-config.xml are as below:
<action path="/unitsView" className="oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataActionMapping" type="view.UnitsViewAction" name="DataForm" parameter="/unitsView.uix" unknown="false">
<set-property property="modelReference" value="unitsViewUIModel"/>
<forward name="unitsEditLink" path="/unitsEdit.do"/>
</action>
<action path="/unitsView" className="oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataActionMapping" type="view.UnitsViewAction" name="DataForm" parameter="/unitsView.uix" unknown="false">
<set-property property="modelReference" value="unitsViewUIModel"/>
<forward name="unitsCreateLink" path="/unitsCreate.do"/>
</action>
I have two lines with [action path="/unitsView"]. The reason why is that I want the user to go to the form create screen for the create button and form edit screen for the edit button. If this does not work, it seems to mean that only a single screen can be used for create/edit functions. However, the ADF editor diagram looks perfectly to point to create.uix and edit.uix respectively.
Please shed some light.
Thanks,
Regards,
Michael
